My go-to after the museum or strolling around Central Park! Such an amazing neighborhood gem. They serve up really great Italian food made with high quality ingredients. The service can be a little slow during peak hours however I think it's worth the wait. The restaurant itself is a bit tight but they do have outdoor seating. How charming is this eatery. I love the hospitality and the delicious dessert we were so pleased with. I tried the almond milk latte. If you're used to sweet lattes make sure to ask for sweetener. We ordered the apple tart. It wasn't just visually appealing, every bite was perfection. The raspberry puree they adorned the plating with complimented this tart so well. My husband order the coffee pot and he was impressed with how smooth the coffee tasted. He enjoyed his 3 cups very much. read more

Really cute place near the Frick Collection in NYC. We ordered a chicken salad and was really basic for the price (26$). I got a tartine with tartufata and it bought it was a pretty pedestrian one. Came on a small plate on white bread.... Would have been much better of focaccia. They served some small pieces of focaccia when we sat down. You can see the two things and tell me if you think it was a $57 lunch. Disappointing. The lasagna we saw served looked quite good but we weren't real pleased with what we got. read more

Cozy/tight European-style eatery, which also offers outdoor seating, that is a 15-20 minute walk from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Service was slow (taking orders and bringing check), but paninis were delicious and came out nicely warm and toasted from the kitchen quickly. Including panini menu, but there are other menu items offered. We ordered two of the most popular paninis and enjoyed them very much. La Madunina -- prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, black olive pate, fresh tomatoes -- was fabulous and our favorite. The LaSpazzino was also yummy -- fresh pork with rucola (similar to arugula) , onion, fontina cheese, and caper spread. read more

Food I enjoyed (Cervino) prosciutto, brie, goat & fontina cheeses, romaine, herbs, with pot of mint tea. I loved the espresso with a (lemon) twist. The place was very warm and cozy. The service was friendly and pretty quick. I ordered the lunch special rigatoni and really enjoyed it. The sauce was flavorful and fresh. Fri, 27Dec2024. Really a 3+. In searching for a place to eat lunch on UES (after an orthopedist appointment), The Infatuation endorsed VQ, and so, off I went as a solo diner. Although busy, I was seated in 5 min. Baby spinach salad with shaved artichokes and the classic beef carpaccio were tasty; but the pear crostada lacked the expected crunch and sapidity. Iced espresso met expectations as did the glass of gavi di gavi. Service was efficient. Not sure if I'd personally would return, but don't let that view deter you from giving VQ a try if visiting the neighborhood. read more

After taking our morning leave of our friends (Gator and Laurie), Gayle and I decided to take a long stroll through part of Central Park. As we approached the Met around mid-day, we both agreed to delay our Museum visit and find some place for Lunch. A few things popped up under "Lunch Near Me", of which looking at the reviews followed. We finally decided to walk over to Via Quadronno. It was on the late side of the Lunch hour and the place was largely full, except for an available table within their parklet. Our timing turned out to be good, as a line formed soon after we were seated. Service throughout was quick and efficient, which certainly helped turn tables over. At the same time, we didn't feel rushed. The parklet was a little confining within this pretty and leafy Upper East Side street. Our Lunch choices were Panini (Moretti La Rosa and Non Ti Scordar Di Me) plus Proscecco for Gayle and Lo Spazzino (Beer) for me. Our sandwiches were a little on the small side, but very tasty. In hindsight, we should have ordered an additional item off their fairly extensive menu. For future reference, Via Quadronno also serves breakfast, dinner, and dessert. read more

Called for a reservation for 7:45PM and arrived 20 minutes early with no issue! They let us sit wherever we wanted and were attentive as soon as we sat. The food was good, nothing crazy. Big portions and not too greasy. The seasoning itself was different than most Italian restaurants, it tasted like their version of Italian food. The tap water they give tastes awful, I overheard another person complain about their water tasting weird! The gelato and the pecan tart for dessert were delicious, a nice topper for a big pasta meal. Overall can't complain about my experience, atmosphere outside was calm and warm for a Sunday night in the city. Although, it was kinda pricy $$$ considering it wasn't authentic Italian tasting in my opinion, but again, it was still delicious. read more

The Pate Al Porto Tartine is amazing! The texture, the balanced flavor, and the rich amount - cannot complain anything. The rigatoni is align with expectation of a red sauce fan! Additionally, they are very considerate to serve the pasta in two dishes for sharing! The panini is a must-order!!! I was in a little doubt and hesitation before ordering this "most popular" panini. After the first bite, I just understand why they told me the restaurant is "known for their paninis". The crispy and tasty bread, coupled with rich prosciutto with exact right balance of freshness and saltiness and lettuce, plus the pink sauce - soo good even for me, as a person who doesn't usually like panini. Dropped family off for photos at Central Park and stuck in New York traffic. Finally found a legal place to park on Madison and 68th. I walked and walked and walked and finally came across this place for a cafe. Charming interior. Well worth the visit. Oat milk latte and almond biscotti was an affordable $8.50. Delicious coffee. Came here with my boyfriend to escape the rain after exploring the upper East side. The latte, soup, and pasta was the perfect way to warm up after our cold rainy walk. The restaurant was very busy but we were sat within 10 minutes. Food comes out very fast and the staff is very helpful (you just might have to get their attention). one of my fav spots in the UES for a quick bite! Loved stopping by here when strolling around the UES for errands or whatnot. This place was a solid 3.5. Very cute spot and a nice location that isn't too far from shopping and museums. I think we would have liked it better for lunch. The reason I'm giving it a 3.5 is I think a lunch there would probably be better. We went on a Monday night so knew it probably wasn't going to be super busy. We were one of 4 parties in the back and they had maybe two in the front total for the 90 mins we were there. It took a full 15 mins after we sat down for a waiter to come and bring water. Then another 7 mins for us to get wine. It was just very slow service in the beginning which was odd given we were 1 of 2 parties there right at 6pm. The food was good and fresh but nothing to really rave about. The issue was that everything was over priced for what it was and how it tasted. If I'm spending $30+ on a bowl of pasta I expect grandmas secret sauce. And it just wasn't to that standard for me or my partner. He had the risotto which was okay, not seasoned quite well though/it had something missing. However the desserts were amazing!!!! The desserts, the yummy wine, and the service at the end are why this is a 3.5. read more

Sat outside on a beautiful afternoon. Atmosphere quite European as is the menu. Mostly sandwich Dash centric. Good for Lunch or wine and snacks or coffee and pastries. Are you stopped by this place since another one of our coffee options was closed and the other was way too crowded. It seems the universe was smiling upon us since we were able to try this place. We ordered a few lattes and I ordered myself a Panini was soppresatta. This place looked super crowded and I was kind of sad that we weren't able to sit and eat anything on the menu since we were on a time table, but I hung out at the bar for a little bit while waiting for our orders and all of the servers were super kind and funny. They made sure everyone was taken care of and you could tell that there were several regulars that came in. If I had the chance, I would love to return to this place and try some of the pasta that looks so delicious. The Panini I got itself will definitely be worth coming back for! read more

We really liked the food here. Love how they have a fans outside for a hot day, cute Parisian theme seating with shade for us to be relaxed from that heat. The cheese and bread was flavorful and toasted. We all really enjoyed our paninis, BUT.... I would say the service could have been better. I'm not sure if the staff was well equipped to service the amount of tables they had but no one really checked on us and we had to flag them down to take our order and get a check. They even accidentally threw away a lady's desserts on the table and got mad at her for leaving it on the table when she was trying to order more desserts inside. The bus boy who threw it away got really angry and said she shouldn't have left it there. Possibly something that could have been avoided if they were more attentive to the tables instead of many of us feeling we need to go in and order. read more

Good, albeit heavy, and a bit overpriced italian food. The location is close to the Park and the Met. The gnocchi and spaghetti are both a bit heavy. Otherwise the flavor was good; not too salty, a bit rich. The tiramisu is good, although a little overly sweet rather than coffee-leaning! The service is good, although you may be waiting a while to be taken care of in regards to getting your bill. After tax and tip, our bill came out to $90 for two entrees and a dessert (no drinks). read more

We happened upon Via Quadronno after leaving the Frick Collection. It looked like a real gem, and reminded me of the tiny restaurants I encountered in Italy. We loved the atmosphere and the neighborhood feel. We met a local at the next table who made some recommendations and said it was a local hang out. Service was ok. It was my son had the beef ravioli and it was OUTSTANDING. The sauce was so good u would have licked it off the plate. We asked for bread instead and dredged it up. My daughter had the pasta PENNE SALTATE CON POMODORO E BASILICO. The sauce was so fresh and delicious. Again we could have just licked it up. My mom and I both had beef lasagne, which is usually my standard measure of an Italian restaurant. It was very bland. I was expecting much more flavor and was kind of disappointed. read more

I understand it's busy and it's always incredibly crowded with people and cramped seating and loud music/voices but this was like no other. When I arrived party of 2, they had nearly 5 tables empty and yet we couldn't sit at any of them because the had to wait for reservations to see if they arrived and we had to wait 15 min but they said they'd let us know. We were forced to sit at the bar which the giant metal can of alcohol bottles took up 1/2 my seating/dining area and no one bothered to move it or ask if that was okay because obviously it wasn't but the didn't care. We waited awhile for the food to come and during that time we asked if there really wasn't any table availability since tables clearly open and the denied again even though reservations never came. Literally 3 tables remains consistently empty throughout our entire dining experience confined to the cramped bar area. They even closed the door, separating the outdoor diners which was weird and it became insufferably hot inside, even on a cold windy day. Bathroom situation here is also terrible as it is downstairs with steep narrow stairs and me and other customers almost bumped into each other and staff carrying multitude of food dishes and dirty dishes up and down the stairs. Never have I ever had such an undelightful experience going to bathroom at a restaurant. Additionally, sink water pressure either had no water coming out or a giant spray of water making it impossible to wash hands without getting a whole shower. This location really needs work. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars is because I love Fumo as a whole. Just skip this location.

Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.
