Located in the upper east side, was recommended by a friend's friend who lives across the street from it. Cute little cozy place that felt like home. Food was delicious, waiter could've been a bit friendlier (which she became towards the end smh). Had better tiramisu elsewhere but otherwise all was good. Can't wait to try their fish next time.

I came here on a rainy Saturday with my friend. We randomly came across this place and found it to be super charming. It felt like a hidden gem. We stopped in for a latte and shared a tiramisu. It's super charming inside and we did feel like we were in a little cafe in Italy. The tiramisu was good, I'm not sure about the latte because my friend ordered that for herself. I would come back again!

    Liver Pate on Toast

As neighborhood Italian restaurants go, it's not bad. Pasta seems to be made from scratch, served al dente, there are some old world offerings like liver pate, foi gras or whipped cod to start. Four fish options out of the 8 mains, more than most. The meal started out promisingly with great bread to dip in a plate of ricotta and tomato sauce. The ricotta was burned with a torch, a nice touch. I'm surprised that the rest of the food was just OK. The whipped cod tasted like it was made days before. The grilled polenta served with it was nice, but it's exactly what you think it will be like. The texture of the cod and polenta was too similar and I soon got bored with the mushiness of the dish. The Spaghetti Cacio y Pepe used high quality parmesan but had too much pepper, something I normally wouldn't mind, but it overpowered the dish. You can find it better elsewhere. My partner did not enjoy his seafood risotto. The seafood was obviously frozen, not fresh, and it was cooked separately from the risotto and then dumped on top so did not infuse with the saffron in the rice. There wasn't a lot of it and not worth the $65 price tag, in my opinion (see photo). It's nice to support a family restaurant in this day and age. Here, you'll have multiple servers asking if you're ready to order or if you want dessert, everyone pitches in and shares all duties, which can be charming, but there is a lack of organization and some chaos. There is a sweetness compared to a corporate restaurant with strict rules. They try to accommodate. For example, a couple who sat next to us came a bit earlier than their reservation but were allowed to sit at an empty table with the stipulation that they would be moved later when the people currently finishing their meal at the table had left. Other restaurants might have just told you to stand and wait. But it was also inconvenient for everybody to move them after their appetizers and for the table to be reset. It's a small restaurant with tables crammed up next to each other so one table getting up and moving creates some chaos. It didn't feel warm and intimate, it was just cramped. We didn't want to linger. Not a good date restaurant. There are much better Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. (Due is just a few blocks away, Poula's and Sfoglia's about 10 blocks up are better). I'm glad this place is busy and has its regulars (you need reservations on weekends). Everyone is very nice to each other. The restaurant prides itself on its warmth and there is an old world civility that I love about the upper east side. The restaurant was filled with mostly older clientele who dress up to have their weekly dinner down the block. It does feel like a community. I don't think I will be coming back here, but I'm always glad to see when a restaurant is obviously an important part of their community,

Rat droppings best to our table

Well, they seated us next to rat droppings. So the rest of the dinner was kind of a wash. Let me set the scene. We arrived at ~8pm on a Thurs night without a reservation. At first, the hostess said there were no available tables, but then a second woman said they might be able to seat us. We waited about 10 min, and during that time, watched as a very posh, upscale, elder WASP couple came in, requested a table without reservation, and were shown to one outside right away. In that time, no one acknowledged us. When we were finally led to a "table", it was about 10-15 feet away from the actual outdoor seating area, on a rickety, elevated platform next to the bar area of the restaurant. Nothing had been set up for us: no lights, no chairs, no tablecloths to cover up the squeaky iron tabletops, nothing. When things did start arriving, a man in white from the bar came out quickly and barked that one of the two tables there was broken, so the staff took one away, then seemed confused as to how to arrange the chairs. I'm not sure why. We had to move the chairs ourselves, since they seemed at a loss. We read the menus and ordered. That's when my friend noticed there were rat droppings next to her chair. Which, given the very jenky spot we were seated, was probably not surprising. We saw plenty of the creatures scurrying to and fro during our dinner. The man in white seemed to feel sorry for us, so he did give us complimentary burrata. But it was such a sad, small piece. We were so put off, but oh so hungry, that we opted to just see things through. My Black Spaghettini with Octopus Ragu was fine, and her Mushroom Ravioli was decent, but I wouldn't rave about either--even if these other factors hadn't been in play. The moral of the story is: If you can't give walk-in customers a proper table, just tell them, so they can find a restaurant that can.

Food was delicious, we came here for dessert and food. My dad ordered a clams linguine he really enjoyed it. I order the panna cotta delicious and the crème brûlée. Our waitress was very professional, lovely and attentive. The only hiccup we had was with the busboy he was pretty rude. I order a Americano with cream and the cream was spoiled and I told him and he took it away without apologizing. He came back and bought new one and said please pour it in front of me. Then he walked away I thought it was funny. Otherwise everything was very lovely will be back. The inside was pretty cute.

A throwback in time - loved the incredibly local vibe. I live a block away, and can't believe this was my first time going, but honestly worth the wait and I would go back in a heartbeat! The food is incredible. Pastas so fresh. The veal scaloppine was expertly seasoned and tenderAF! I even like the sweet breads! Wow! Great wine selection. Nice servers. The top all the way! Cannot wait to return!

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! I've been thinking about this meal ever since I left the restaurant. You don't want to skip this place.

It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.

It's definitely a cozy and popular café--mostly cozy because of the size. Seating is limited, but the interior design is clean, minimal, and uncluttered, which makes the space feel calm and welcoming despite the steady stream of customers coming in and out while we were there. Food-wise, everything impressed us. I ordered the pistachio croissant, while my companions got the gochujang hot chicken sandwich and the breakfast sandwich. The chicken sandwich was especially memorable--unique, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. My pistachio croissant was also great; personally, I might have preferred a little less pistachio cream or a more textured filling like almond paste, but that's purely a preference. It was still excellent. The service really stood out. They were quick, friendly, and incredibly accommodating--one of my companions accidentally dropped their sandwich, and the staff replaced it free of charge without hesitation. That kind of kindness goes a long way. The price point is amazing for the quality of food you're getting, and we felt completely comfortable lingering for several hours. Throughout our stay, there was a consistent flow of customers, which says a lot. There was only one person at the front and it seemed she was also managing the serving part so it did get pretty hectic at some point. We decided to order the Budae Jigae (Hot Pot), there is no way to alter the spicy level so for those who love spicy spicy, this is for you. Me and my friend was really disturbed by the fact that we were treated some type of way. Maybe it's because we weren't Korean or? Service was slow asf. It was also hard to tag her down, and she seemed pretty annoyed that we had to ask her for multiple items. We were a party of 2 and she only gave us one set of items. Staff then handed me the glassware & a free sampler bowl of their soon-to-launch either lemongrass chicken/pork rice bowl after accepting payment. Portion was definitely more on the generous side to say the least. Devoured the sampler bowl in 15 mins because I was hungry & aside from keeping the rain not getting into the food. Flavorful lemongrass chicken + appetizing pickled carrot + fresh, crunchy sliced cucumber laid on a blanket of fluffy white rice. All the ingredients went well together. This is something I would definitely buy for lunch/dinner if this item ever gets added to the menu in the future. I ordered a hot Vietnamese Cloud Coffee, a new drink on the menu. My first time actually ordering a hot drink from Tea & Milk. Usually go for the iced drinks but I was feeling quite cold. So, I needed something hot to hold in my hands. Vietnamese Cloud Coffee - Cà Phê Trứng (Egg Coffee) is made with egg yolks + Vietnamese coffee powder. Lastly, it's lightly sweetened with condensed milk to give off an all-around creamy texture and taste similar to tiramisu. Something created with such simple ingredients yet could feel so soothing at the same time. A hot coffee-based drink on a cold, rainy day is like a snuggly hug. Staff called out your name when it was ready for pickup. Love starting my day off with the strong flavor of Vietnamese coffee! By far, this might actually be the best tasting Vietnamese coffee I have had in all my years. And, I'm usually not a coffee person either. Didn't taste watered down and/or heavily sweetened at all. Everything's just right. Definitely would be going back next time for other coffee/fruit tea drinks.
