    Rigatoni All'aragosta OH THAT LOBSTER

The welcoming was wonderful, the food was superb, and the ambiance is something I would recommend to any of my friends looking for a peaceful and calm dining experience... totally go here for a quiet calm girls dinner, where you girls just need to yap- you won't regret it

Perfect spot for a girls night! I'm so glad San Babila opened on the UES - it's a great addition to the neighborhood. Came on a friday night with my girlfriends. We were a little late for our reservation, and they gave our table away, which was quite annoying. However, the service, hospitality, and food more than made up for it. Someone came over to apologize for the mix up and offered us complimentary white wine while we waited for another table to open up. The wine was delicious! When we were finally seated, we started with some drinks. I got the Speranza, and it was light, fresh, and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary bread basket brought to the table, as it's a rarity in nyc these days. We split a burrata amongst the table. Loved the addition of figs. I ordered the rigatoni all'aragosta for my dish, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better than it looked. There was a decent portion of lobster in the dish, and I couldn't even finish all of it, I was so full. One of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while. My friends ordered the bolognese and the fettuccine alla nerano, and they enjoyed their dishes as well! We skipped dessert this time, but I would definitely be back for it. I also want to try the paccheri next time, as well as their coffee shop in the mornings! Overall, a well executed restaurant with great ambience (would be great for a date night with the dim lighting and ability to hear each other speak). They just need to get a bigger dining room so they can seat more parties because they always seem to be booked full!

This was a random find for a beautiful breakfast. Spacious with earthy colors all through the dining area. Beautiful set up, sitting area in front and spacious dining towards the back. The staff were helpful and attentive. The food was delicious. Yummy omelette with sides. My only complaint was that the bacon was chips crispy, would have liked it a bit chewy. I stayed in and worked for a few hours, it was quiet and pretty serene. I'd go again.

3.5/5 This place has been on my list for awhile now. I liked how it was a coffee shop during the day and then restaurant at night. I stopped in to get a coffee and journal. They have some specialty coffees/lattes so naturally I had to get one of them. I got the cocco mello - has coconut flakes and 3 espresso shots. It didn't taste coconuty and it was slightly frothed. It was $9.79, which is quite steep for a drink and considering it was in a skinnier glass. The barista was nice and she brought me a water cup too. The place is super cute and vibey. I liked the green velvet and warm touches - from the bar to the dining room area. I will say, I think the high top tables at the front are too tall for the stools. I was bent over at a weird angle to journal. There's a single stall bathroom in the back.

Delish fresh pasta and cozy vibes. Definitely a hidden gem on the upper east side. Loved both the pasta and it's a great last minute spot if you need a reservation

Probably one of the top three cacio e pepes I've ever had. All of the pastas were very tasty, creamy, al dente, and came in generous portions. We ordered three vegetarian pastas for two people instead of an app, and we basically took an entire one home. The drinks and service were just okay. Ambiance was nothing special either. Would come back for the pasta

Such a great addition to the upper east side! Came here for dinner on a Thursday night and had a lovely experience. The inside is dimly lit and they were pretty busy but it was not too loud at all. We started with the truffle potato cacio e pepe which was absolutely delicious. The truffle wasn't overpowering and the sauce was amazing. We split the lobster rigatoni and the pappardelle and both were incredible. The rigatoni has large lobster chunks and I normally do not like bolognese sauce but it was incredible with the pappardelle. Would absolutely come back and would love to try their pastries!

Second dining experience at San Babila, and it was just as excellent as the first. Our party sat at the bar and started off with cocktails, followed by the focaccia with garlic butter and the arancini. Wow, both of these appetizers were insanely good, and I highly recommend both. For our mains, we ordered the Cacio e Tre Peppe, the risotto, and the Gnocchi. The Gnocchi was the star of the evening, followed by the Cacio e Tre Peppe. Beautiful ambiance, lovely service, and delicious food. What else can you ask for?

San Babila is solid, has a good vibe, and won't disappoint. It was a good experience but might need a little tweaks (just my thoughts) to be a more standout experience. The Cacio e Pepe potato antipasti was good, with some truffle shavings on top. It wasn't the hottest when we got it, maybe a little warmer than lukewarm. But the Cacio e Pepe was delicious. My entree of gnocchi with mushroom and truffles was a little too similar to the appetizer, though that is probably an error on my part. The consistency and the sauciness was too similar. It was good but likely could have used some more freshly ground pepper, maybe some more salt, or something more. It didn't quite hit home for me. My wife got the lobster pasta dish, which was good but also needed a little something extra... maybe some spice/heat or something. We ordered a bottle of wine and the price ranges from $50 up for a bottle.

I love this place. All of the dishes are plated beautifully and are so colorful. The space is pretty and the service is great. I didn't get it this time, but the lobster pasta is the best I've had. Prices are reasonable too.

Cute spot with great service! Started with the poached pears with gorgonzola that melted in our mouths. The bolognese and broccoli pasta were both delicious and we ended with a pistachio cannoli and tartufo. Will be back to check out the coffee shop in the morning.

We came here the other night for dinner. Ordered the Barada, which was only fair, small portion as well. Side sauce was not very flavorful, for dinner we ordered the lobster pasta, and the guezzetto di pesci. The pasta was good, reasonable size amount of pasta, but we would like some more chunks of lobster for the price. I did like the sauce, though. The other dish was lacking flavor. Very small portion, both of the broth and the fish. Only had three small shrimp and some muscles. We ordered the lotus chocolate caramel for dessert...we both enjoyed this. Overall, average meal, overpriced and small portions. Service was good and ambiance was nice

This is absolutely one of the best restaurants to open on the upper east side as of late. The food was exceptional. You can tell the pasta was made fresh. And meeting the executive chef it was clear how excited he is about the menu.

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.

Me and my girl was looking for a coffee shop that was laptop friendly and closed late since we came after work. I was a bit disappointed that they did not serve any alcoholic beverages as I saw a lot of good reviews on that portion. We came, we sat down on a Saturday night. There was only one person at the front and it seemed she was also managing the serving part so it did get pretty hectic at some point. We decided to order the Budae Jigae (Hot Pot), there is no way to alter the spicy level so for those who love spicy spicy, this is for you. Me and my friend was really disturbed by the fact that we were treated some type of way. Maybe it's because we weren't Korean or? Service was slow asf. It took a really long time for them to serve me my iced strawberry matcha drink. And even longer for the food. It was also hard to tag her down, and she seemed pretty annoyed that we had to ask her for multiple items. We were a party of 2 and she only gave us one set of items. I went again by myself the next day to see if it was better service and it was pretty packed. There was actually 3-4 people at the front but even then it was so hard to get someone to take my order, ask for napkins, for the check, etc. While there was no time limit on Saturday, there was a time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes on Sunday. would I go again? Maybe, but it's def veering towards the no side.
