Amazing vibes. Such a cute cozy spot. AMAZING FLAVORFUL FOOD. We sat at the bar and still got to order from the whole food menu. Bartender was nice Food service Highly recommend the ham croquetas Calamari was good too I also drank the pil pil spritz which is a sangria with sparkling wine 10/10 recommend for any occasion but make a reservation because it's small inside

Cute spot with garden decor. Little tight area for some of the tables based on decor. Grabbed a couple drinks and tapas. Everything was pretty good- enjoyed croquettes, veggies, and potatoes. Small portions but perf to share- recommend

Ambiance: super cute and cozy restaurant. Love the intimate vibe. Service: our waiter was the best! Food: omg, the calamari was absolutely delicious. The sauce was to die for!!!! I could not get enough of it. The apple cider sangria was so good as well. You gotta try this restaurant.

Lured in by their fabulous lunch special (3 tapas for $24, or 5 for $40) and today's lovely weather, I sat outdoors and tried Pil Pil for the first time. Having spent most summers in Spain as a kid, my bar for Spanish food is higher than most, but Pil Pil didn't disappoint. The gambas al ajillo were a standout, and the patatas bravas were just right. Though I enjoyed the dátiles con bacon, they drizzled a mustard sauce on top that, for me, detracted from the intended sweet and savory contrast. The sangria was passable, but nothing to write home about (I'd use a different mixer). However, they have an extensive selection of Spanish wines and Spanish beer, so you've got plenty of options. Most importantly, I'm leaving Pil Pil full and happy. The waitstaff was kind and courteous, and I'm sure I'll be back to try more tapas the next time I'm on the upper east side.

I tried Pil Pil for the first time this past week, and all I can say is, it was nothing short of amazing! We had the dog, so we were sat outside. The staff were all super sweet and attentive, and brought our food out quickly. They also payed attention to when water was running low, and they quickly swooped in to refill our glasses. My mom and I got the white sangria, which tasted amazing as expected! My dad and brother got the red sangria, which I'll have to try next time I come. We ordered most of the items on the happy hour menu, which is a great deal! It goes until 7pm on weekdays, and during happy hour, sangria is only $8 per glass. Not to mention, I had no complaints about the dishes here. Literally everything I ate was delicious. I especially loved the potatoes and croquettes- everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I'm so happy I came here!

We walked in with no reservation but was seated quickly with no issues. Beautiful decor, very intimate and romantically lit. Perfect spot to meet up with friends or to meet up for a date. What's cool is they don't give you the traditional paper menus that restaurants/bars usually give you. They give you a small tablet with all the menus listed so you can scan through and you can save items to your wishlist (although you cannot order directly through the tablet). Someone still comes to take your order. I started with their sparkling red sangria ($7 HH price). It was subpar. Quite bland for a sangria. It just tasted like there were missing ingredients. Next I ordered the white sangria ($7 HH price). It was definitely better than the red sparkling sangria. We tried three appetizers off the happy hour menu: Fried calamari, ham croquettes and spinach croquettes. They were all quite tasty but the ham croquettes were the best. Their tipping system is a bit off. They added the suggested gratuity amount to the full bill (food/drinks + tax) instead of adding the suggested gratuity amount to the subtotal. Tax is NOT supposed to be factored in when adding a tip to the bill. A pet peeve of mine so I adjusted it on my own.

Came here post MET museum for a glass of wine and some tapas. Staff were friendly and we sat outside people watching. They have iPads as their menu that give you descriptions of everything which was super helpful in choosing wines! The spinach croquettes are a must but the asparagus is a skip for me. Overall decent spot to grab a light bite.

We walked in and were seated almost immediately. The place was buzzing already at 5:30pm. The c. vibe. was nice. The seating is a bit uncomfortable for someone with disabilities in the front area of the room. It was my birthday. I have balance and mobility issues. For an older person (in my 50's) it was difficult to get into the seati ng at the very front by the windows. I had to squeeze behind a wooden column to get into the bench like seating. The restaurant ambience however was really pretty. The mural on the wall was really cute. The blonde hostess at the front was super nice, the small Asian guy did not even cracked a smile, seemed unfriendly or just very serious about his job, but he could be more welcoming.. I'd like to give this place another shot. I'd like to maybe see the back room where it seems were the more comfortable 'low' top table and chairs. The Happy Hour menu for food was fairly priced. The garlic shrimp was delicious. The tomato bread (sort of like a bruscetta) was also good. I did not have any of the alcohol drinks so I can not comment on drinks. The bday cake at the end that came out was a wonderful surprise. The staff came out and sang which was nice and was open to taking our pictures. I would return and would recommend just would probably make reservations for a low top table.

    - I'm not sure if I've ever had such authentic Spanish food in the states -- Pil Pil was truly a treat during our weekend trip to NYC! We came in for a late dinner on a Thursday night and it was still buzzing with people... such a fun vibe with the Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling and the cozy, dim interior. The staff were all wonderful as well -- our waiter, Steven, was very friendly and attentive -- and the tablet menus with the "wishlist" feature were a nice touch, especially with so many yummy drinks and tapas to choose from! We started with a Paloma and an N/A sangria (both good) then shared several tapas -- the mac & cheese croquetas (so unique and loved the sauce), the gambas al ajillo (loved the spicy/garlicy "pil pil" sauce), the asparagus (yummy romesco on those) and the steak & fries (so tender and flavorful). We finished with the flourless chocolate cake -- very rich and decadent -- and we coincidentally ended up coming back the next night for dessert with friends, which was a treat because we got to try the tres leches, cheesecake and fruit sorbet (all delicious!). Such a great spot -- can't recommend enough!

Very cute and vibey bar/restaurant. The decor is so cute and you forgot you're in NYC. I'm not very familiar with Spanish food but the cod/fish coquettes were delicious. Inside was soft but not mushy (if that makes sense). The Ham platter was perfect to share with friends

The food is always exceptional at Pil Pil! One of my favorite brunch spots on the UES. Normally I give this place a 5, but the service was a little underwhelming this time. Everyone was polite and nice, but they seemed a bit overwhelmed. I ordered a drink that never came (wasn't charged either) and while they were seemingly attentive it appeared perhaps there was some confusion about who was actually managing our section. I think there was a private event happening simultaneously to regular seating (not sure, might've just been super busy) but we sat outside to get away from the hustle and bustle (typically a solid move). Overall, you cannot complain about the food. It always hits the mark. Their brunch deal rules.

My boyfriend and I walked in at 6 on a Thursday and were seated at an 8 top table alongside a group of 5. Extremely cramped to the point that the server had trouble talking, hearing us, and handing food/drinks over. We started with white sangria because the froze wasn't ready. The sangria was yummy! We ordered calamari which had an awful burnt aftertaste. My boyfriend ordered Pulpo a la Pancha which had great flavor and texture and I had the arroz meloso which kind of lacked the flavor I was hoping for but was filling and the seafood was delicious! After around 30 mins, the server let me know the froze machine was up and running again and I'm so glad I waited because it was PHENOMENAL! If I return, it'll be for the drinks.
