The perfect restaurant to celebrate a romantic and intimate birthday. The staff was super friendly and welcoming and the dinner never felt rushed at all. The beef bourguignon was extremely tender and better than any of the dishes I had when I was in Paris several months prior. I would come back just to have the beef bourguignon again. Also the chocolate mousse for dessert was very rich and delicious. You can tell that the chef truly cares about the dishes. 10/10 would recommend

This was our first time eating here and we will definitely return! The ambiance takes you back to Paris and embraces a traditional brasserie. It's a place where you can even take your parents to as it's not too loud and a great vibe to have a conversation. We tried restaurant week and were very pleased with our dishes. The cauliflower soup, mussels and frites were our favorites though all of it was good. The service was impressive; I drank so much water and yet my water glass was never empty.

Just look for the deux chevaux!

Pleasant little brasserie on the UES. A little worn around the edges, but brilliant Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur! Nice stop for lunch. Attentive staff and nice wine list. Definitely felt like a little piece of Le Marais.

Hubby and I recently tried this restaurant with our friends. I wanted to try another type of French restaurant. This is a classic-looking cafe with indoor and outdoor seating areas. We didn't order appetizers and went straight for the entrees. I ordered the roasted half chicken, which was served with mashed potatoes. My chicken dish was good. Hubby had the Niçoise salad. Both dishes were very good. I thought they could do better with the chicken. It was nothing special, with a nice taste, but it was average. I expected more in terms of tenderness and flavor. Hubby's Nicoise salad was better than my chicken dish. Our waiter for the evening was Fernando (I think that's his name). He took care of our table professionally. He read the specials, but we ordered from a regular menu. I was glad to try the restaurant. I ended the evening with a cup of green tea without any desserts.

I've enjoyed dining at Jacques brasserie many times over the past 5 years. Cozy, intimate dining experience with experienced staff, a lovely bar area and outstanding french food and curated wine list. Every third Sunday evening a French burlesque show adds a bit of excitement. This week I enjoyed the duck confit served with polenta and cranberry-pomegranate sauce, which was beautifully prepared.

One of the places we like to frequent on the upper east side when we are in town. I was reading some of the negative reviews about service but our service was fine. No attitude from anybody, food came timely, and water glasses were full. A lot of people order the mussels and fries which seems to be a specialty here. We usually go to Flex Mussels for this type of meal. My wife had the steak and fries which she enjoyed and I had the lamb chops. Everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. I had the chocolate soufflé for desert which was decadent. Again, one of our favorite neighborhood bistros when we are on the UES.

Ordered delivery from here. Food fastest delicious, but $42 for 4 pieces of meat and 4 pieces of carrots and some mashed potatoes, Really??

Service was way too slow, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. The food did not make up for the unexplained waiting. And it is expensive for what we got. The baguette is good. Ambiance is nice.

Went here for the first time and it was pretty good. I saw mixed reviews but I'd go here again in the future. The staff was great and the food was great except the burger was. A little fry for me but was still good. We got the tartare which is my fav. The dirty martini is a must there.

Is the outdoor eating area heated? To what extent is it enclosed?

I posted a recent photo where you can get some idea. The outdoor "shed" is enclosed on 3 sides. They did have heat lamps but on the evening we went I kept my light jacket on…

We shared Betsy's Mom's Clam Dip, Mushroom Toast, Bitter Greens Salad, Minted Lamb Meatballs, and duck pâté. The meal opened with the clam dip; cool, lush, and briny, with a creamy oceanic richness that coated the palate; followed by a tangy, salty depth that clung to each crunchy bite of bread. The Mushroom Toast followed with deeper savoriness: earthy, almost forest-floor mushrooms, warm and tender, turning silky as they soaked into the bread, while the edges stayed crisp and toasted, adding contrast to the woodsy umami and subtle garlic warmth. The Bitter Greens Salad provided a bright, palate-cleansing break that included crisp and peppery greens with a sharp lemony dressing that snapped on the tongue, layered with faint fennel sweetness and the nutty, salty bite of shaved parmesan. The Minted Lamb Meatballs arrived richer and more comforting, tender and juicy with a gentle gamey depth, lifted by fresh mint that cut through the richness, and a cool, tangy tomato-yogurt sauce that added creaminess and brightness in equal measure. We finished with pâté--silky, dense, and deeply savory, with a faint iron-rich intensity and buttery smoothness, especially when spread on bread with sharp, briny pickles that added crunch and acidity. Each dish felt intentional and well-balanced for sharing, with varied textures and temperatures that built naturally across the table. I'd happily return to explore more of the menu.

The menu is fairly on the basic side - mainly drinks and pastries and there is some sandwiches. We decided to get the hot chocolate with whip cream (the whip cream is very needed). It was very rich, thick and delicious and not "too sweet." The whip cream really makes it more creamy and it does not really add to the sweetness which was good. We also got a side of Salame e Formaggio which I would recommend passing on because the cheese was kind of hard and not that great. The salami was good and honestly I'm not a fan of olives but my friend who liked it enjoyed them. Overall - a cute place to stop by for a hot chocolate and maybe a pastry!

We got a torta caprese (flourless chocolate cake), a sfogliatella, a hot chocolate, and a machiatto. The torta caprese was okay. The sfogliatella, which is supposed to be light and crisp, was clearly stale and chewy, although they warmed it up which was a helpful touch. The hot chocolate was reviewed on Instagram as being super rich and decadent, but it was made from a mix that smelled oddly similar to Swiss Miss. the machiatto was also quite watery. Come here for the vibes, but not for the food.

Though they didn't serve the sprite-infused red wines I enjoyed in Spain, they did serve white sangrias, which were light, sweet, and very enjoyable. The toasted bread with tomatoes was bright and summery. The grilled asparagus was cooked wonderfully al dente, with a char that added a nice smoky flavor against the clean taste of the drizzled olive oil. The beef skewers were well seasoned and fatty. While the food was Spanish, the prices certainly were not! It was a tad pricey. There wasn't anything below $13 for their small bites. Nonetheless, the food was good, the service prompt, and the outdoor vibes quite lovely. I would go there again.

Regardless of the hot weather, I decided on a table outside. Each bite of the tapas was delightful for what it was and I ended up ordering an extra tapa because I couldn't make up my mind. I chose the shrimp in garlic sauce (oil) that I sopped up with the accompanied bread, the dates wrapped in bacon (they do their own twist by filling it with honey ricotta stuffing and finishing it with a red wine reduction), I also went with cod fish croquettes (the perfect crispness on the outside and a delectable creamy texture of fish inside), I can never pass up the patatas bravas, so, I got those too. I had a glass of a beautiful, crisp, white Chardonnay off the menu from Spain. Definitely a must try if you are looking for a quick meal for one.
