Saw this a spot a bunch on social media. You can sample up to 3 flavors. Flavors all taste like what they are named but a little on the sweet side. Some of them particularly the makgeolli taste a little syrup heavy to me. Staff were patient with indecisive customers (like me)! Very limited seating inside but lots of beauty stores nearby to browse.
I came here with friends after gallivanting around town and it was great! There was a short line but we were served quickly and the person helping me was very kind! I asked him which flavors were vegan and he even let me know one of the flavors contained gelatin, which was very helpful and a good consideration! I ordered a small size of the pina colada and white peach. The white peach was a little bit less flavorful than expected when compared with the pina colada, which was my favorite. It was really good, and not too coconut forward. The texture of the fruit ice creams was still smooth and not too icy, which I also appreciated.
Really liked the Korean flavors. Tried the mandarin and makgeoli. Both were pretty good. Kind of expensive.
You can try up to 3 flavors. The small size is 2 scoops. I had Hojicha Biscoff and Ube. It is pricey but rich and milky. There are a few indoor and outdoor seats.
I definitely see myself coming back for a sweet treat. The gentleman running the store is so kind and helpful, and very willing to yap. There's not a lot of seating indoors, but it was clean. I thought the flavors were so fun. The blueberry cheesecake flavor was sooooo good and reminded me of the tous les jours blueberry cream cheese bread. I have to go back!!
Went here for a dessert after a big meal. Great service and great ice cream! You get three samples before you have to make your decision. There are many different flavors, ask this is definitely useful. I got a small, which gets you two scoops. I got mango and lychee, both of which were great. Would definitely recommend if you're in Koreatown! There is some sitting area inside but people seem to like sitting outside.
I wanted to try their fun asian flavors that I've heard of, like injeolmi or misugaru, but they unfortunately didn't have many we came. They let you try up to 3 flavors before ordering. I got a small with the blueberries and cream and matcha with matcha kit kat. The small cup looks very small, but the scoops are very large. It was tasty ice cream, but not super memorable. I would love to come back when they have more flavors.
We ordered: 1. Injeolmi mochi & Matcha w Matcha KitKat 2. Black sesame Oreo & Miso w Caramel Cone Walnuts 3. Ube & Kaya Coconut We tried each other's orders and they nailed the consistency and flavors. My order is # 1 and I liked the roasty injeolmi flavor and wished there was bigger chunks of KitKat in my rich matcha gelato. No issues with service. Decent standing space inside but mainly order to-go. Would come back again.
I came here after seeing a post about all the unique Korean flavors of ice cream they have here; unfortunately when we came on a Friday night around 8:30pm they were sold out of many of those unique flavors. We ended up getting 3 scoops: choco hazelnut, milk & cookies, and calamansi. I thought the calamansi was interesting and tasty in small bits but getting through a whole scoop of it was tough given how sour it was. The other flavors were somewhat boring and overall just a bit disappointing.
Creamy rich ube ice cream Staff was kind & has good taste in music. Good vibes from this little shop. Also store is conjoined with hey yogurt!
it was so good! All the flavors were not overwhelmingly sweet but definitely taste it creamy and fresh. the injeolmi is my favorite!! especially with the mochi
Every time we travel, my sister and I always want to try as many dessert and ice cream shops as we can. I've been wanting to try Sundaes Best ever since my favorite YouTuber recommended it, and it did not disappoint. This cute shop is warm and cozy and tucked away in KTown. They have so many different Asian inspired flavors ranging from banana milk to honey butter. I got the corn ice cream and blueberry yogurt and wow.. absolutely delicious. Blueberry yogurt had a very nice tang and was pretty creamy while still being icy, and the corn had a delicious sweet pop with actual bits of corn and the flavor was definitely corn without being too overpowering. Service was great. They were really quick with the samples and scooping the ice cream and were very generous with the scoops. If I ever come back to New York, I would visit this place super often. It's delicious, enough said
Loved the ice cream at Sundaes Best! I tried a handful of flavors, and all of them were amazing. I ended up getting a small cup of the coffee ice cream, which was noticeable great. It was busy, and I see why. Will be back for sure!
I spontaneously went here on a night out and may have stumbled across the BEST asian gelato place ever. The flavors I ordered were tiramisu and berries and cream, but there were also a lot of fruit flavors you usually wouldnt see at other stores like lychee, ube and coconut. I didnt order them, but I was able to sample it and they are all so good and strong!! The workers are really nice and patient when customers are picking flavors out. It can get long since its usually 1-2 workers, but its also a gelato place, so I get they wouldnt have so many employees at once. The space itself is small, so expect to find a spot outside to eat but there are benches along the windows. read more

Located just at the edge of ktown, this spot serves plenty of Asian flavors to choose from! They have your more classic options, like strawberry + mango, to classic Asian flavors, like Pandan, lychee, + Thai tea, all the way to your unique Asian flavors, like Thai Basil, Choco Pie, + Hwache, just to name a few!! I love that they draw inspo from Asian snacks to derive their flavors - it's what makes Sundaes Best unique! I surprisingly enjoyed Pineapple Thai Basil, which had the classic fruity flavor, but also a freshness from the basil, which was pleasant. You can sample as many flavors as you want. Not that many indoor seating options, but you're not too far from Herald Sq to grab an outdoor seat. Perfect post-dinner dessert spot if you're in the area! read more

After a pretty hefty dinner, my friends and I decided to stop by Sunday's Best for some gelato. It was the perfect little sweet treat to end the night. The staff was kind and patient, letting us sample a few flavors before deciding. I got to try the ube flavor, which was surprisingly really good and rich in flavor. Unfortunately, after such a filling meal, it felt a little too heavy for me at the moment, so I opted for something lighter and more refreshing instead. We ended up getting the mango/lychee and melona/lychee combinations, which were both refreshing and enjoyable after dinner. For the price and portion, it honestly wasn't bad at all -- pretty much what you'd expect from a dessert spot in the city haha read more

Fun flavors and ice cream. The injeolmi and strawberry cheesecake flavors were great. There's limited seating, but the four of us were able to grab a bench right outside Thursday evening. read more

The best service ever! Came in with a huge group of people after dinner nearby and the staff let us try different flavors before ordering. Injeolmi mochi was delish and even the kiddie scoop size is a lot. The store itself can get crowded but the lines move quick! read more

I think it's OK gelato for what it is. The lines can get really long. limit three samples per person. Not a many options for vegans. Only fruit flavors for vegan people like sorbets and some are super TART. Probably will not come back and go to a gelato place with more flavors. I would say if you're in the area, it's not a bad option, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more
Unique gelato shop conveniently located in NYC's K-Town. They serve various Asian-inspired flavors such as Dalgona Coffee, Matcha Kit Kat, and Hwachae, to name a few. They're very busy so everyone is limited to three samples. I got the smallest size (one flavor) with their Matcha Kit Kat flavor and it was delicious! Flavorful and chock full of Kit Kat pieces. The main downside is they're relatively expensive for the amount of gelato you get ($6.95 for a small) and some flavors are hit or miss. Definitely sample them before you commit. Worth dropping by if you're in the area. read more
It's a small little ice cream shop in Korea Town. They have a lot of unique flavors like thai ice tea, matcha KitKat, and white peach. We ordered two small cups which allows you to pick two flavors each. We chose black sesame Oreos and matcha with matcha KitKat for the first cup and the second was thai ice tea and biscoff. First the black sesame Oreos had very strong sesame flavor but there wasn't a lot of Oreos. The matcha with matcha KitKat was similar, very strong matcha flavor but not a lot of KitKat. The thai ice tea flavor was subtle. The Biscoff ice cream was the only one that had plenty of cookies. They were all creamy and wasn't too sweet. Service was good and the people helpful. read more
Stopped by in the hopes to get their jeju mandarin sorbet but sadly they didn't have it in stock. I sampled the new flavor, bell flower root (tasted very herbal forward and a sweet after note) and the calamansi (so very sour). I got a scoop of the calamansi which went against all sound thought because it was just very sour the whole time I ate it. Also, it looks like the amount that they scoop for you depends on who's working that day. Looking at other pictures with their full scoops and my same sized cup with like one and a half scoops costing the same price feels bad. I feel like the creamy flavors tend to be very sweet and the sorbet flavors are just the typical Asian fruit flavors. read more

Ate in 2023: Sundaes Best sells Asian-inspired gelato, I went with my friends two years ago and thought this place was pretty decent! The workers let us sample the flavors and I ended up getting their Thai tea and melona flavors. It also came with a rice cracker! Unfortunately, I thought the gelato was too sweet, the Thai tea flavor wasn't really authentic, and I honestly don't remember much about the melona flavor. The gelato melted pretty fast too since this was in July, so towards the end, it lowkey became gelato soup lol. read more

a new gelato spot in ktown with a ton of unique flavors! Three different sizes (small , medium, large) we got the small which is two flavors ($7.95) and we got pistachio as well as the mochi. Consistency was great and flavor was potent especially for the pistachio! Mochi flavor was a little disappointing as I couldn't really pin point what it tasted like. It's a small shop but the line moves fast. I was really intrigued by the other flavors they had and I would wanna come back to try them out. Not too many Asian inspired gelato spots in the city so give them a try! read more
Trust taking the wrong bus to lead you to a place of edible delights. This is what happened to me last Sunday after the Jewish museum when I was on Fifth Avenue waiting for a bus. It dropped me on 32nd Street and as I looked around lo and behold an ice cream store was within my vision. Naturally I went in. Being in K Town with Korean flavors, I sampled two and took those. Miso and Blackberry Vanilla. While the two were flavorful, the miso took top billing. Sweet, salty and a touch of umami, I actually considered a pint. Then I thought of returning to have another cup with miso and another flavor. Logan helped me with samples and the cup. He was patient and kind. read more

They have so many unique flavors that it's hard to choose, but you can sample up to three before ordering. My favorite was the miso caramel cone with walnuts, a flavor I haven't seen anywhere else. If Sundaes Best opened years ago maybe it would be the talk of the town, but with the plethora of Asian dessert choices in the city it's just another average dessert shop in a sea of dessert shops. Sundaes Best thrives off being conveniently located near Ktown and quick service. There are some seats inside but most people eat their ice cream outside or take it to go. I was excited to try the Kaya Coconut but was unfortunate to come when they didn't have any. Instead, I ordered the Thai Tea and Honey Butter while my partner got the Banana Milk and Ube. Before I ordered, I was able to sample the Milk Tea ice cream which had no taste of tea and tasted of just milk and sugar. The Thai Tea, on the other hand, was a good balance of tea, milk, and sugar. The Honey Butter was my favorite flavor with liquid swirls of honey and crunchy cookie pieces. My partner, who trusted the process a little too much didn't sample his ice cream before ordering and ended up with flavorless Ube and a somewhat artificial tasting Banana Milk ice cream. At least all the ice cream was nice and creamy. I think the experience at Sundaes Best is hit or miss depending on the flavors you get. Service is top notch though because they definitely don't skimp on the scoops so you'll get your money's worth in volume. I just wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more
Food: I tried the chocolate hazelnut gelato here and it was excellent! It was creamy and perfectly smooth with a lovely hazelnut flavor. They have many different flavors, mostly Asian flavors including Thai iced tea, lychee, ube, and many more. You can sample the flavors, which I would recommend doing because some of them aren't the best. Service: The staff are really friendly and nice about letting you sample a different flavors. Ambiance: This is a very small shop with only four seats along the window. The ice cream shop shares a space with another yogurt drink and cake dessert spot. It's not meant to be a place you can hang out in for a long period of time. Overall, I would highly recommend this dessert spot! read more
Sundae's best is a great spot to spice up your ice cream palette! I loved the unique Korean treat inspired flavors many of which I haven't seen in other places. Inside is a cutesty aesthetic and a classic ice cream scoop bar order for takeout. I opted for the melona flavor (which tasted exactly like the asian childhood creamy classic melona bar) and the honey butter (which was sweet like honey, creamy, and had a salty crunch too it of mixed in chips). Definitely a spot worth checking out and a great sweet treat for the summer. Service was nice and quick! read more

Korean ice cream shop in K-Town. They have very different Korean-inspired flavors. The ambience is insta-worthy and the owners are very nice too. We tried corn-flavored gelato which was a little sweet but very light and tasty. The other flavor was dalgona coffee which had a nice kick. The owner was testing something new ice cream that had a toasted bun, ice cream, and mochi. I casually asked him what is this as he was clicking some pictures and he asked if I wanted to try. I said sure why not. It tasted yummy. Warm toasted bun with cold gelato perfect for winters. read more
