Venchi is a very popular gelato and chocolate specialty store. This location near Times Square is a great spot for sweets. I came here in single digit weather, and wow did the hot chocolate hit. The hot chocolate was super rich, to the point where it felt like drinking straight liquid chocolate. The inside is super fun, with half the store dedicated to gelato and half to chocolate. The decorations were unique and fun! The service was really friendly! They helped us go through the flavors as well as buying various chocolates. Great experience at the Venchi on 7th Ave! Came here with my family after dinner as it was right across the street from the hotel my brother was staying at. He had never been to a gelato and I suggested it! (I've been to one other location) The second you walk, the place feels lavish. The storefront is pristine and gorgeously furnished. The chocolatiers/gelatieres are so warm and one walked up to us while we in line and explained the size options and options for what they will coat our cups and cones with - I think the options were dark chocolate or hazelnut. You also are able to sample any flavors before choosing! Being that I just ate, I got myself a small treat, a "baby" cup of pistachio gelato. They had the Dubai chocolate pistachio flavor as well, but I felt that one was too sweet for my liking. I was very happy with my pistachio! My sister in law enjoyed fruity gelatos and my brother a rich, dark chocolate. Every gelato comes with a chocolate, which is a nice added touch. Located on the heavy traversed 7th Avenue, and at a corner location, the shop.... like every other Venchi.... is well lit, immaculate, has a cordial/helpful staff, and carries an array of delicious sweets. I think this business will do well, here. During today's visit, I ordered a box of Chocoviar Raspberry (dark chocolate inner shell, intense raspberry coulis, chocolate 75% grains). Each square is a delightful treat. The mixture of textures, and the chocolate grains that spill out after every bite, is exquisite (make sure you eat them over a napkin, in order to catch every grain). Venchi was established in the late 1800s in Italy. Lots of dark chocolate options which is my jam. I couldn't decide on what chocolate to buy. I purchased by the lb which was pretty expensive depending on the chocolate, price per lb is different. If you combine everything, you will be charged the highest price. I had no idea they would open a location on Lexington Avenue near my apartment. They keep expanding to more neighborhoods. Venchi is creamy and has a smooth taste that to me is unique. Soooooo many chocolates to choose from! They also sell gelatos. It was a warm day in NY (Sunday 10/13), we stopped by in the late evening. There were a few people in the shop, the line was forming. We ordered the crepe with vanilla gelato. We expected the crepe to be plain but it was smeared with Nutella. I didn't ask for Nutella but oh well; it was delicious. 10 out of 10. I had asked for pistachio but they were sold out. They were sold out of a lot of flavors. I did get a sample of the coffee gelato and it was pretty good, it was creamy and had a great coffee flavor. I believe a lot of flavors were sold out due to the weather and it was almost closing time. Shop and staff were very welcoming. The staff were super professional but the guys behind the counter were taking a long time with one order. Beautiful displays of chocolates. Venchi is a very cute little chocolate shop right in the Times Square area and honestly it pulls you in immediately. Bright, pretty, and full of chocolate everywhere you look. Dangerous. I ordered the hot chocolate with raspberry and let me be clear this is not Swiss Miss energy. This is real, melted, drinking chocolate. Extremely rich, thick, and very chocolate forward with a nice hint of raspberry. It's delicious but intense, so plan accordingly. Pro tip drink it fast. Once it cools down it starts to thicken up and turns into basically warm chocolate pudding in a cup. Not a bad thing, just something to be prepared for. The decor also allured us inside hahah. The flavors of the gelato weren't super prominent, but I'm not sure if that's how gelato was supposed to be. I was there yesterday and these very immature, hyperactive (Aussie, I would assume by their giggly accents) girls, were going back and forth looking at all the flavors and then they just settled in before me. I didn't say anything, but then soon regretted not speaking up as the jaded- looking server attended to them first. When I spoke up and said I was next, he didn't hear me or ignored me. I had to practically shout to get his attention. He then asked for my receipt, but I realized the inept, short girl at the register didn't give me my receipt. This was my 1st time at this store, I approached the counter and I tried telling the cashier what I wanted, with an attitude she responded what size? Again, I tried to express what I wanted and again she said what size? I told her the size and step aside for the next customer. I purchased a chocolate cup with vanilla, 1 strawberry and a mango. My daughter asked her what was in the cup to which she said dark chocolate. She asked the guy if the icecream had nuts to which he said no. We left the store, and my daughter got in the car and started eating the vanilla Gelato with the dark chocolate cup, her mouth started feeling funny and her tongue felt heavy. I had to pull over the car for her to vomit and rush to CVS for Benadryl. Now I'm on my way to Emergency Room to ensure she will be okay. bro on our way back, the 1 train literally came to a full stop for 20 minutes so we were like eff it. time to walk. so we literally walked from like 20th st to 59th st cuz we wanted to go to the mall after oktoberfest. and on the way, we were looking at what was nearby and she was like oh this is close let's go. but then when we were walking we just stumbled upon it and she was like wow that wasn't planned wanna go here tho. and i was like ya. the line was a bit long but it moved pretty quick. i highkey forgot what i got. which is bad because yelp reviews should be detailed and persuasive. so from now on, i will make a vow to post my yelp reviews within 3 days of me trying the place. but it was really good and the guy serving me was nice. i realized that i bite my ice cream which is kinda funny but then the ice cream goes away quicker so i started trying to lick it but it felt weird. but overall it was good. also we were pissed that the train was delayed but then i found out that someone got hit on like 66nd st and then felt bad im sorry. but after we got to columbus circle and went to the mall, everything was closed cuz i guess we couldn't walk fast enough and my friend's social and physical battery was drained so we just rode the subway back cuz it was working again. if not we would've took an uber fr. overall, good gelato! read more
