I'm a Venchi member and buy your chocolate regularly at different locations, but my experience at the 1796 Broadway location today was unacceptable. I arrived at around 10 a.m. The location was listed online as open 24 hours, but the employee wouldn't let me in and said it would open in an hour. When I told him I just wanted to buy chocolate, he said he would open the register if I spent more than $200. If I spent less, I would have to wait. Why should a customer's ability to shop depend on spending over $200? On top of that, he spoke to me very rudely. Please clarify this location's actual opening hours and address how customers are treated here.

Is pricy but love the chocolate dipped cones and cups. The chocolate is so rich and great paired with a vanilla based gelato. The mago gelato was a bit syrupy but the raspberry was tart and refreshing. Delicious! The hazelnut was also good.

I like this place a lot and it's fun to get gelato in the summer (or anytime, really) but wow the prices are very high. My husband went in for a hot chocolate on a cold night last week and it was almost $17. I was like, "Dude, we're going to go buy some Swiss Miss and make it at home!". Now of course Swiss Miss can't hold a candle to the rich chocolately deliciousness that is embodied in the Venchi hot chocolate, but be prepared for sticker shock if you try it. The staff members are all very friendly and they keep the lines moving so five stars to them!

    Today's special

The gelato is very good and the seating area and restaurant as a whole is clean and quite nice but the gentleman who scoops out the gelato is surly and quite rude. For crying out loud, you're basically scooping ice cream, get over yourself. It's pricey but as I said it's pretty good so if you can deal with the rudeness, go for it. If you're not in the mood, I'd skip it.

New York was having a heat wave so of course everybody wanted ice cream. They will let you sample some flavours before you choose what you have. I try to pistachio one which was delicious. A few days later I had another one which was the panna cotta. Service was sweet and friendly. They have a small area at the front where you can eat your ice cream and watch the world pass by.

ok so the gelato was good, they have a lot of specialty chocolate options, but wow we were so scammed when ordering. no one explained the process to us, just rushed us through the long line - asked us what size we want and then immediately followed up with what flavor of cup lining and sprinkles to add in without mentioning that it was a $3 upcharge! so our two cups of gelato ended up being almost $30!!! if we had known it would have cost extra for the chocolate dip and hazelnuts inside the cup we absolutely would not have gotten that. not only that, but he didn't even get the order right and initially had raspberry filled cups - and didn't notice until I clarified that we had asked for hazelnut.

Gelato is quite expensive. The tiramisu flavor was pretty good though. Service js ok. Aesthetic is pretty.

Yummie in my tummy! Delicious rich creamy gelato. You can't go wrong here at Venchi. Whether it's the gelato or the coffee you're in for a treat!

We got the pistachio gelato here with a freshly made chocolate cone. The gelato was delicious and not too sweet, which we really enjoyed. The fresh chocolate cone was also a nice touch and complemented the pistachio gelato really well. Overall, a tasty and satisfying treat!

Check the menu. You don't have to pick a gourmet or signature spread with your gelato order.

Customers (especially tourists) beware! They over-charge you at this location by asking what you what spread flavor you want in the cup/cone but that's an add-on. You don't have to do it. When people ask if they have to get it, they say "it's included" but they're charging you an extra $3.70 on top of the gelato size that you want.

Dropped in after an early dinner with a friend and picked up a small tiramisu, it was delicious. The customer service was great and the store was beautiful.

Only gelato/ice cream place which closes late in the area on the way to the 57th St train stations so happy about that. Need to order/pay first. I do have favorite flavors already like the Azteco (darkest chocolate), chocoviar and Mango Passionfruit. Wish they were consistent with the portions of gelato though, which depends on the staff member. One week I was satisfied, then the next week it was empty at the bottom of the cup.

There's always a long line and I finally understand why. Their straciatella is to dieeee for.

I love walking fifth avenue and sneaking in for my free sample. The store is well lit and very clean. Everything has a place on the shelf displayed evenly and tempting. Walking in you see freshly made chocolates with many colors and flavors. You are met with a giant Statue of Liberty made of chocolate and see the sign "Chocolate experience from Switzerland". Two worlds colliding to give a delicious taste. There's an overflowing section of small wrapped candies to choose from as well in the center where you can pick individually wrapped chocolate to make your own box of fancy treats. It's a hard decision to decide. However I love the slabs of fresh chocolate filled with nuts and fruits. My favorites are the Carmel and milk chocolate. The Neapolitan White Chocolate (NWC) variety is part of their limited time spring collection and was first introduced in 2020 (to the best of my knowledge). I'm going to begin with a brief tangent for those of you unfamiliar with Neapolitan Ice Cream. Supposedly it has its origins in the cuisine of the Italian city Naples and the Neapolitan immigrants who brought spumoni to the U.S. Spumoni is an Italian dessert that uses three different flavored (vanilla, cherry, and pistachio) layers of ice cream that resemble the Italian flag. Americans would put their own spin on it by replacing the cherry with strawberry and the pistachio with chocolate. Moving back to the NWC truffles, the outer shell is comprised of a smooth and creamy white chocolate infused with strawberry, while the equally smooth core is a melty milk chocolate and white chocolate truffle. Although Neapolitan is not a favorite ice cream of mine (fruity ice cream is not my thing), Lindt absolutely nails it with all three flavors clearly coming through. Like all the other truffles I've tried from Lindt, the texture is phenomenal. I was a bit skeptical going into this one and only picked these up out of curiosity when I spotted them on clearance. If they could win me over, then you have to give these a try if you're a fan of the ice cream flavor. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews My Favorite Lindt Truffles: 1. Birthday Cake 2. I am a devotee of dark chocolate, and have tried every dark offering it has. Each is superb, even flavor combinations I haven't historically adored (like orange and chocolate - I know it's popular, but it's just not my favorite). That said, my personal favorite is the Anastasia, a hazelnut and dark praline enrobed in dark chocolate. It is exquisite. Service is always excellent. I've ordered in person and over the phone, and have always been so pleased with the staff. The website is helpful when ordering a variety, but if you'd like an entire box of Anastasia, for example, you have to call the Rockefeller Center store and place the order by phone. They ship once a week, and I always have my box fairly quickly. Boxes make terrific gifts ... including for yourself. If you're walking in, I recommend sitting down to enjoy a few pieces of chocolate, then taking the rest in a box with you. There is a cozy but comfortable seating area in the back just for this. This area is also an ideal place to enjoy some of their drinking chocolate. Highly, highly recommend.
