[[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm a huge fan of this bakery, but it's my first time at this much smaller Manhattan location[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a fraction of what the Brooklyn store has.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ultimately opted for a red velvet cupcake and a raspberry tart for Valentine's Day. Decided to pick up 3 slices of cake after seeing a Broadway play. These cakes remind me of my childhood. Brought the nostalgia back. My favorite was the Nutella slice. They're all not bad. I just didn't know there was coconut on one of the slices and I really don't like coconut flakes. Still not a bad taste just a preference. Just a tip when you bring the cakes back to your place, take it out of the box and let it air out a little bit so it doesn't taste like the cardboard box. This goes for any place you buy cakes btw. I think it tastes even better after refrigerating. But also can't go wrong with chocolate. Service was great, everyone there working is friendly. read more

One of my colleagues brought in cupcakes from Mia's Bakery to mark an occasion at work. Initially, I was pretty apathetic since bakeries can be a dime a dozen in NYC, and I'm not the biggest fan of cupcakes. Nevertheless, the cupcakes were there, and I'm not one to pass on sweets - so of course I had to see what this was all about. Mia's has its roots in Booklyn, but also has two locations in Manhattan and three more in Massachusetts. My colleague got a dozen cupcakes, all different flavors. We actually browsed the menu prior to ordering and they have a lot of different flavor combinations. Additionally, the standard bakery fare was offered. I decided to try the coconut cupcake which was made with vanilla sponge. I was slightly surprised as it did not contain any of the things I *didn't* like about cupcakes - the toppings weren't clumsy, the sponge was m-o-i-s-t, and it wasn't overly sweet. If only all cupcakes were like this. Overall, while I only had a sampling of Mia's offerings, I was impressed. My interested is piqued and I would definitely be open to checking out their other bakes. read more

The selection of dessert is huge! I would surely come back and try something else to see if I like it better than what I tried. I dropped it quickly for a quick dessert before dinner. I've heard their Blackout cake is supposed to be one of the best in the city but I haven't tried any others yet.. Carrot cake and aforementioned BC were incredible. Not the best carrot cake I've ever had but really good. The blackout cake slice was super moist (eee) + had a strong dark chocolate flavor. The airiness of chocolate custard + the fudge that enveloped the outside (although lil too thick for me)-- soo perfect. Got a BOGO red velvet cupcake, too. Stopped here to get some dessert because I remember the creme brulee cupcakes being really good on a previous trip. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bakery itself is tiny. Only room for one or 2 customers inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They had a decent selection of items. I got 3 types of cupcakes and an eclair. I had the creme brulee cupcake. My husband had everything else. He did not like the cupcakes at all - said they were extremely dry. He's not wrong - they were dry. The creme brulee stuff on that cupcakes helps with that. The eclair he also said was not great. Service was lackluster but it was efficient. I don't think based on this experience we would return. read more

I don't understand how Mia's got so many good reviews. Maybe their other products are better. Or their other location is better. They say, "Looks can be deceiving". That deception cuts both ways and for the pecan sticky bun, I was, unfortunately,negatively deceived. It looked good, but from the first bite it ended up very disappointing. I stopped by in the morning on the way to see the Rockettes holiday show, but the bun was so dry and hard that the quality felt more like a multi-day old product left out in the open. If you do order one of the pastries, make sure you get a coffee to dip it in. read more

Mia's dessert shop is near the Times Square. Small shop, only a handful of customers can be in there at a time. They have variety of desserts such as cheesecake, muffins, cakes and variety of hot/cold drinks. Their desserts are fresh and tasted great. I had a cannoli and my brother got the crème brûlée muffin. I got a dozen cupcakes ($45) and the person who helped me was nice but I noticed that the frosting was messed up on a few (indentation, other frosting mixed in). Not a big deal normally but this was for a birthday so a little bummed out. Overall, the chocolate cakes were the best ones and I thought the frosting on all were a bit lacking. It's more of a whipped cream base than butter cream. The chocolate and oreo were my favorites because of the chocolate cake base. This place probably does a great job, but we had a huge fail. Ordered an Art deco cake for $$$$. What we thought would be chocolate was black...like black food dye. Imagine people in black tie, all gussied up and taking one bite and having BLACK TEETH for the night. I appreciate that they have a few vegan cakes and at least one (sometimes two) vegan AND gluten-free cakes available. The handful of times I have been there, they almost always had the chocolate peanut butter vegan & GF cake, but a couple times they also had the chocolate hazelnut cake as well. Both are delicious. I think it was only once that I popped in and they had neither, and I had to leave empty-handed with no cake. Considering it is in Times Square, a little under $8 isn't bad for a small piece of cake, but it's definitely not something I can justify buying on a regular basis - just a nice little treat now and then. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. It's a tiny little space with only enough room for a handful of people to stand in line inside. Can be very cramped when it's more than four people in line. Not a place to sit down and eat your cake or drink your beverage - you'll have to find somewhere else to enjoy your treats. read more

Mia Bakery came highly recommended from a friend. Upon arrival it was very crowded as late as 8:30pm. Was looking for a strawberry shortcake for a friend birthday. A very friendly and pleasant young lady name Jennifer and a server who could have possibly been the manager Chris were amazing! Although they didn't have any strawberry shortcake on display she was able to find in their fridge and was able to write HBD. There was a full-service restaurant in the back of the bakery will have to try at a later. They had so many delicious pasteries on display and different types to chose from. And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.

The matcha was nothing special and the bear Oreo was actually quite plain and I feel like is not worth it. The base layer of the shaved ice was almost tasteless - didn't really taste like vanilla or milk, and it was just sprinkled with Oreo. I would rather just buy my own pack of Oreos and eat that. They have outdoor seating which was nice.

All of them tasted authentic (I'm Korean) and well executed. Also tried the black sesame cake which was amazing. The desserts here reminded me of rice cake bakeries/cafes in Korea so it's pretty legit. Sad I haven't made it to their store yet but it looks beautiful based on pictures. I'd love to go try their desserts in store one day!

The price is just right for the perfect size slice for sharing. On our prior trip it was a lot busier and it took a while to get a seat so we could eat. This time it wasn't as crowded and we were able to sit right away after getting our slice. On future trips to New York we'll definitely have to come back and try some of the other items available.
