What a delightful surprise! After working late and attending an event after work, one of my coworkers suggested we stop here because they loved their cookies. The store has two beautiful double doors that create such a grand entrance, and once inside, you immediately feel the energy. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite. I ordered ahead of time since there was a bit of a line and the store was on the smaller side. Got my cookie right away when I came into pick it up. Guys... I will say that I didn't think I would like this cookie at all since usually I like thinner crunchier cookies. But holy cow!! Levain has been on my NYC bucket list for the longest time, and we finally made it there... but after all the hype, I can't say it lived up to our expectations. We had one at its peak outside of the store, but my husband I both looked at each other after we had a bite and wondered where the flavor was. It fell very flat for us unfortunately. It honestly was more like a scone than a cookie. We took the rest home and microwaved them to bring them back to life, but we're just shocked at the lack of flavor. Adding flaky salt on top helps. I haven't eaten all of the cookies I purchased, but I am a long time customer so I know they are all excellent.
