What a delightful surprise! After working late and attending an event after work, one of my coworkers suggested we stop here because they loved their cookies. I had never heard of the place before, but I was happy to give it a try -- and I'm so glad I did. From the moment you walk in, the experience feels special. The store has two beautiful double doors that create such a grand entrance, and once inside, you immediately feel the energy. The place was bustling with people, and everyone seemed happy and excited -- from the customers to the team behind the counter and the baristas. The cookie case was overflowing with so many amazing choices that it was hard to decide! I ended up getting the Rocky Road cookie, a Double Chocolate Chip cookie, a Two Chip Chocolate Chip cookie, and a blueberry muffin to enjoy for breakfast the next morning. The service was absolutely impeccable, and everyone I interacted with was warm, friendly, and delightful. When I got home, I had half of the Rocky Road cookie with a cup of tea, and it was incredible. The cookie was large and chunky but still perfectly enjoyable -- not heavy or overwhelming. It literally melted in my mouth. The chocolate was rich and smooth, and every bite was just delicious. The next morning, I tried the blueberry muffin, and it was just as impressive. It was light and airy, not overly sweet like many blueberry muffins can be. It truly felt like a breakfast pastry. The blueberries tasted fresh and burst with flavor in every bite. I ordered ahead of time since there was a bit of a line and the store was on the smaller side. Got my cookie right away when I came into pick it up. Guys... I will say that I didn't think I would like this cookie at all since usually I like thinner crunchier cookies. But holy cow!! I was blown away by the crispy edges and the interior wasn't too soft gooey either. The chocolate and walnuts added to the cookie enhanced the flavor even more! This was a super nice bakery, with their modern wooden style interior and huge beautiful display of all their pasties, bakeries and cookie products. They also had a large variety of hot and cold drinks. In the shelves they also had their coffee and merchandise products as well. There was some seating space by both the glass windows. Our friends ordered the popular cookies set. We waited few minutes to collect the cookie box. I must say those cookies were outstanding. They were freshly baked, the chocolate filling was still melted inside. The crust and all other ingredients were also complimentary to the overall taste of the cookies. Levain has been on my NYC bucket list for the longest time, and we finally made it there... but after all the hype, I can't say it lived up to our expectations. We had one at its peak outside of the store, but my husband I both looked at each other after we had a bite and wondered where the flavor was. It fell very flat for us unfortunately. It honestly was more like a scone than a cookie. We took the rest home and microwaved them to bring them back to life, but we're just shocked at the lack of flavor. Adding flaky salt on top helps. Their locations are mostly just a counter to order takeout. I've had cookies from other locations, and this one offers the same great taste and freshness. I got a chocolate chip walnut, three chocolate, peanut butter, a rocky Road and a caramel coconut chocolate chip cookie. I haven't eaten all of the cookies I purchased, but I am a long time customer so I know they are all excellent. I did have the Rocky road cookie which was incredible and would definitely get this again and the chocolate peanut butter is by far my go to favorite every time I stop by this bakery. Heard a lot about Levain Bakery through various recommendations, super happy that I finally got to try it out for myself! Dropped by at around 4:30pm on a Sunday, it was pretty bustling when we got there. There was a short 5 minute wait in line before we got to the counter, and we opted for the classic Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie. We got our cookie super fresh right out of the oven, it was practically falling apart as we ate. Next time I would probably wait a few minutes for the cookie to set first before eating it, and also get it with a hot beverage so it goes down easier.
