I'm not a cinnamon bun person but heard the hype for this place and wanted to try. I really enjoyed the bun and it was very soft and good warmed! We got the seasonal peach flavor. Note that these are sweet desserts (obviously) and around $10-12. In my opinion worth a try!

I was on a mission to try as many cinnamon rolls as possible when in New York City! When we arrived at Benji's, I was impressed by how cute the shop was! It was adorable and super clean. There wasn't a line, so we ordered quickly, our cinnamon roll was warmed up, and given to us promptly. Their flavors were super unique and really fun. I knew my girls would just want to try the original with cream cheese, but you can bet your bottom dollar that I drooled over the banana bread, tiramisu, and Biscoff. Absolutely delicious! 11/10!! I just wish I could eat more cinnamon rolls even though I was so full! Definitely plan a trip to Benji's and grab several for the road! You won't regret it!

Really yummy treats. Tried banana bread and cookie butter. The banana bread has a more runny icing while the cookie butter is more dense, but they were fitting. They heat it up per request so it's very satisfying to eat. I usually prefer my cinnamon rolls dripping in icing, but they are high quality enough that I didn't terribly mind. Still had a nice balance between bread and wet.

Walked past an excruciating-looking L'Industrie line to get here on a recent Saturday afternoon. I only had to wait behind one person. Coming here instead of going to L'Industrie is a good hack if you just want some type of Tik Tok-viral food on Christopher Street but don't want to wait in that crazy queue (and, importantly, don't care if it's not pizza). I've been touring around the cinnamon roll-only spots in Manhattan; Benji's Buns is my third stop. While Sunday Morning remains at the top of my list, I definitely enjoyed the two rolls that I tried at Benji's! Original glazed: It looks a little dry on top, but nothing about this cinnamon roll is dry in reality. There's actually more icing on the bottom than on top, and it's quite sweet- maybe even a tad sweeter than I would prefer. The dough leans more bready than gooey, but it's plenty soft and succulent. The cinnamon glaze is gentle, not overpowering; I'm not an expert but it tastes like they use a high-quality cinnamon. Cinnamon crunch: the super-nice lady behind the counter helped me pick this limited-time-only flavor, which she described as a little similar to tres leches as the roll was marinated in cereal milk. Apparently this uses the classic vanilla roll's cream cheese frosting on top, which I thought was the best part! It's whip-light and medium-sweet, and the cream cheese flavor really sings. I will say that the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal on top did not do a ton for me, and the cereal pieces got a bit stale later in the day as I brought part of it home to finish later.

stopped into one of the many glorious looking cinnamon bun places popping up around the city - Benjis has a classic, vanilla bean, and lotus roll always on deck then 3ish rotating flavors. I'll let you know rn the Instagram is more accurate with flavor choices than the website! - we got the vanilla and the lotus. the lotus had the fluffiest biscoff flavored frosting. the roll underneath was soft and warm, and the center bites brought joy to my heart - the cinnamon bun itself is the same for all flavors, it's just the frosting that changes. the frostings definitely brought the flavors they were supposed to, but as it's not a cream cheese frosting, it really maintains that sugary buttercream flavor that can be a bit too sweet and overpowering

I can't say I'm the biggest fan of cinnamon rolls but my partner is so we decided to try it out. The waiter was extremely nice and it was cool to see how many different flavors they had. We tried the Hot Chocolate version and I felt like you couldn't really taste the difference between that and a regular cinnamon bun. I almost wish that the dough was infused with chocolate flavor rather than just have the icing represent the flavor. I will say I did really like the bun as it was warm but not necessarily gooey. Overall, I think its okay but would recommend if you like to try a lot of different types of cinnamon roll flavors.

I love cinnamon rolls and have made it my mission to try as many as I can! I came here and was debating between the strawberry scone, vanilla cream, and banana bread. I asked for a recommendation and he was adamant about the vanilla cream - so that's what I got! I am happy with my choice to get the vanilla cream. The cinnamon roll is huge and fluffy. It's not thick so you don't feel as bad eating the whole thing. The frosting was to die for - that's how I want my frosting for a cinnamon role to taste. It also wasn't too sweet. It's not the best cinnamon roll I've had. Plus $10.35 (after tax) is quite steep for 1 cinnamon roll. The space is quite small. There's 2 tables to sit at. It's decorated with yellow theme.

Came here twice in 24 hours, what does that tell you??! That vanilla-frosted cinnamon bun is so freakin' good and I am a cinnamon roll fiend. Sure, they're too expensive ($9) but love how huge they are, the freshness of the dough, and how they warm it up for you so you can really dive into the gooey, cinnamon center. Big perk: no line and nothing was sold-out. Enjoyed the pecan and Biscoff ones but the vanilla-frosted is classic goodness. 5 stars!!!

I stopped by on a weekday night and was met with very friendly service. This spot had some seating, which made it a nice and quiet place to grab a quick treat. The Pumpkin Spice Cinnamon Roll paired well with a hot latte, which had the perfect balance of milk and espresso.

    Apple Pie, Classic

Benji's is a hole in the wall place with a couple tables inside but mainly a grab and go type of vibe. They have a bunch of flavors, though it seems like they sell out quickly as they are rotating through empty and full trays. I wanted the vanilla frosted roll but they ran out, so I opted for the apple pie (they said the apple pie has the vanilla frosting along with apple). I absolutely loved my topping-- the frosting is delicious and creamy, and the apple elevated the whole bun. Unfortunately, the bun itself was disappointing. It was too doughy and soft, and I almost thought it tasted bland? It was teetering on a cardboard-y taste. Mine was saved by that amazing frosting and apple topping, but my friend got the original which didn't have anything on top. The flavor, or lack thereof, of the dough was especially present in that one. I like their rotating menu, but I'd only recommend Benji's if you like your buns doughy and soft.

    Vanilla Cream Cinnamon Bun (~$10)

Ordered: Vanilla Cream Cinnamon Bun (~$10) Aya's take: Cinnamon buns seem to be more popular than usual this year, and I'm not mad about it. Benji's is a new spot that recently opened up serving classic and unique flavors of cinnamon buns. We got the Vanilla Cream Cinnamon Bun which is a pretty standard flavor, but executed well here. The bun itself was soft, not too chewy, and not overly sweet. The sweetness comes from the Vanilla Cream which had a great smooth texture and was rich & sweet in flavor. The ratio of bun to cream was also solid! I hate when I'm eating a cinnamon bun and feel like I need to ration out the cream. Highly recommend sharing as they are pretty big. Slightly overpriced but good try nonetheless.

Pumpkin Spice, Classic Vanilla, Lotus Biscoff Cookie Butter

I like that they rotate flavors seasonally, and that they are open late, but unfortunately the buns were a bit of a miss for me overall. I went later in the day and the buns were still relatively fresh, but not warm, which I didn't mind. I ordered the classic with vanilla, lotus cookie butter, and seasonal pumpkin spice. The base buns were all the same and were pretty doughy and possibly underbaked. The frostings are what differentiated the three. A little too much of it for my personal taste, but not an issue since I can always remove some. The vanilla and cookie butter frostings were nice and fluffy, but the pumpkin spice lacked in flavor - it was neither pumpkin-y or spicy enough. Overall, the place fell flat of my expectations but I know they're new to the area and hopefully they'll work out their kinks over time.

Incredible Cinnamon Buns! We tried the sticky toffee pudding, Biscoff, and vanilla iced flavors. They were all delicious, the staff are helpful & the owner is so nice & welcoming. Look forward to returning!

It felt like items weren't made with care and mass produced at a factory or something. I went 10 minutes before they closed and there was still 10+ of each dessert. I'm not convinced that they will dispose of them. Even if they do, it means they didn't do a good job in forecasting demand especially after being in business for multiple years. I ordered mango and yuzu. Both were too sweet and had one dimensional flavor and textures, not refreshing per their stated flavors. Even if their appearances take effort, they don't look pretty enough for me to forgive what goes in my mouth. I'm used to having patisseries with many layers and elements. Mango's sponge probably only took up 20% of the bottom, because I barely had bites of it. Most of my bites didn't have any. I didn't like how liquid the filling was. It didn't exactly ooze out but just melted into a puddle in my mouth. Yuzu looks pretty with the pink and yellow glaze, but it didn't go with the realistic fruit theme. I chose it for the flavor combination which is strawberry, yuzu, and guava. This was slightly better in terms of flavor variety in the mouth. The flower on top had a weird off putting flavor. The bottom crispy rice apparently is supposed to be chocolate but it came out plain. It was tasteless anyway, so not effective in terms of flavor or texture.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat.
