I genuinely cannot speak highly enough about this place. You know when you find a gem in your neighborhood that you just can't stop coming back to? Well that's flex mussels for me. I absolutely love this place, and on my most recent visit I had the oysters which were some of the best I have had, the delicious Parmesan mussels, the coconut mussels, and the calamari. The oysters were incredible, super briny and meaty. The Parmesan mussels are absolutely delectable and we went through multiple bread baskets sopping up the broth. The coconut mussels are great, nothing wrong with them whatsoever, I just prefer the Parmesan and the calamari was perfectly crispy and big pieces. Service is always the question mark here with it never being great but never being bad. And that was my experience on my last visit. Ambience is lovely and perfect for whatever kind of night you're having. This place works for a date night or a quick casual dinner. Overall, I will always come back to flex mussels as they never disappoint and would recommend anyone else do so.

Was recommended this place on our recent trip to NYC. Located on the Upper East Side this is a must for you seafood lovers! Come for lunch, brunch or dinner and you won't be disappointed. Decked out in sea side decor there is plenty of indoor space and covered outdoor space for colder weather. Highly recommend reservations! Oysters, mussels, lobster, breakfast items, fish entrees and salads. There is something for everyone! Wine, beer, cocktails and mocktails there's a drink for everyone. And while we didn't get a chance for dessert, we saw some delicious looking plates go by. Friendly staff greeted us, our waiter was very knowledgeable in the mussel selections. Portions are generous and you'll go away happy! I will be back on my next NYC trip.

Flex mussels is consistently always good! We started our meal with the scallop special which was served over a butternut squash puree which was delicious. For mains, we had the fra diavolo, classic, and New England clam chowder mussels. We've never tried the clam chowder mussels and they were packed with flavor! We obviously also had to get fries which always pairs well with mussels. If you're a mussels lover, this place is a must try! You also have to go for happy hour as they have such good deals!

Came here randomly for happy hour and everything was really good! I had my dog so we were able to sit outside to eat. Standouts were the truffle parm fries (good truffle flavor pulls through, but not too strong) and the sauce the mussels were in were very flavorful. Donuts were yum as well, they were warm and airy! Would come back again for happy hour as I believe the mussel & fries combo was only $25. Service could be a bit more friendly - our server seemed like they didn't want to be there/were annoyed with us.

Walking into Flex Mussels on a Friday night at about 9:30. It's busy with lots of people, but they were still able to seat us immediately. There was an option of indoor or outdoor, but the whole restaurant was open air. Their late night happy hour starts at 9 and has a great $25 mussels and fries deal. The mussels were fresh and have a few options of sauces. We went with the classic white wine garlic which came with crusty bread to dip in. Overall, had a great time and would love to come again. The happy hour prices were really good

This restaurant is quite a find. My in-laws from the south were in from out of town and wanted to try this place out. There is an option to dine outside, but we ended up going inside. The decor gave the place a homey feel. The mussels here were out of this world. I ordered the seafood boil which had a hearty serving of mussels, shrimp and crawfish. The seasoning was great which went well with the bread that was served alongside it. I recommend the fries as a nice side, though they came out a little slow.

Wow. 11 years ago you could get a meal for $60 + tip. Flex Mussels was one of my favorite restaurants on the UES and going back tonight I can confidently say that the quality of the food is still there. The space I previously visited is now Hoexter's, and this version of Flex Mussels is much bigger with an outdoor space, large interior, and upstairs area. The service is still good by all accounts, but because of how many tables people are covering, it's not what it once was and that's why we're at 4-stars now. Back in 2014, the second your bread basket ran out there'd be a new one being placed down. While it may not be the best decision to put away multiple buckets of that delicious bread with whatever your mussels have taken a bath in, it was still awesome. To that point, the size of the restaurant made it so once the food was placed down, it was harder to really monitor your bread needs and by the time our waiter checked on us, we felt finished with the meal (the mussels were gone, the broth had cooled, and our fries had disappeared). This lost star is no shade to the waitstaff - they're really great. It's just that Flex Mussels is no longer that vibey hole-in-the-wall feeling restaurant it once was and that's ok. The food is still as good as I remember and that dessert was something I missed (truly one of my favorite desserts of all time). It's gotten *way* more expensive, but I suppose everything has.

Overall, the mussels were fantastic. Would highly recommend the Parma and the Thai mussels. A bit on the saltier side, but the bread helps tone it down. However, the Little Flex from the raw bar was not satisfying for $42. You only got six oysters and two shrimp cocktail with some smoked fish dip. Service was fantastic. The restaurant had dim lighting, perfect for a date night or dinner with friends.

This right here is something I've really gotten one too many times lol. This is My guilty pleasure as they aren't always nice to me in here but that happy hour mussels and fries combo... smh. THE best! $27 for a FILLING, Fresh & Tasty meal. Always. They are consistent with two things: great food and crappy service. lol I've tried all of the flavors except the Parma, and would recommend every single one.

Kids friendly, Happy hours! The restaurant offers $8 small martini and $10 spritz. If you love to drink, you can go here all the time. Cheeseburger sliders, fish tacos, and and creamy mussels were very yummy. They have plenty of spaces on the ground level and second floor which I both visited. I see small kids all the time here!

Great neighborhood spot! We went to dinner on a weekday and it was pretty chill. We got half a dozen oysters, and just told our waiter to pick some for us. We ended up getting 2 oyster types: Montauk and Irish point. We don't normally love oysters, these were fine. We got 3 pots of mussels and fries. They were quite a bit of food. All the mussels were so good!! The fries were small matchstick, very crunchy. The mussels comes with bread that was tasty, and you can get more bread as well. Overall, we had a great time. The happy hour menu looks so good, we would totally come back for happy hour another time!

The service is almost always horrendous here. I've now given this so many chances and I just can't justify it anymore even though it's so close. The last time I went the host was incredibly rude, a time before that they were out of most of the oysters on the menu for brunch at 12pm. This last time 40 percent of the mussels were unopened. That's an absurd thing to serve a dish that almost half of it is inedible. The broth today was way too salty. We did let the server know but they shrugged their shoulders and just took it away. Photo for reference. I'd definitely pass and hit another seafood place like Crave or Seamore's in the area. Habitually bad service and food lately. The oysters were good though and well shucked.

Whenever I am in New York I try to come here at least once. It's no longer a secret, Flex is fire and it's always busy and full of locals, including the park avenue crew. I recommend any of the mussel dishes, the Parma style are my favorite. The branzino is among the best I've had in nyc, and my boyfriend loves the roasted half chicken, for those who are more into turf. Do not leave without dessert, their homemade doughnuts are a surprisingly pleasant way to end a meal, small little gooey blissful puff balls.

I've never had Algerian-style seafood and was excited to try out Le Petit Pêcheur. We were a party of 6 and made a reservation that same day which was great! We arrived and got seated but weren't explained the process. First, you go up to the fish counter and order the fish you want, the amount you want, and the style you want it cooked (grilled, fried, or sautéed). They've done a great job with the display and I liked seeing the various options in front of me. The worker who helped us was super friendly and took the time to explain what each fish was. I also appreciate that their pricing is transparent (posted on their website). So why 3 stars? Once we finally ordered, we went back to our seats and ordered appetizers, sides, and drinks with our waiter. It took almost 40 minutes to receive the Greek Salad and Virgin Mojito we ordered. We had already received our Fried Calamari before that. Similarly, we got all the fish before the French Fries & Rice Vegetable Medley came out. It was frustrating and took away from the experience the fact that we didn't have the sides to eat with the fish at the time the fish came out. We literally had finished everything when the waiter came out with Lemon Potatoes which we had to send back considering it took too long to get them. It's a shame considering all the food we had was actually delicious. The Fried Calamari was crispy, tender, and not chewy at all, the Grilled Spanish Branzino was buttery, light, and delicious, and the Tiger Shrimp was grilled beautifully and the lemon olive oil mix just enhanced it even more. Even the Marinated Sardines were some of the best I've had. The fish was fresh, grilled/fried properly, and we truly didn't have a bad bite here. Prices are also more than reasonable. There's a clear lack of communication by the staff since two people within our group had provided their credit card to pay and they charged both. It's a shame we couldn't enjoy it as much as I hoped because of the operational issues. Hope they improve with time but until then, I won't be back.

The list the prices up front, so that was somewhat awkward process?? I ask for octopus, scallops, smelts, and a red snapper . The octopus was the most expensive item, it was marked $45 a pound.. We were then sent to 2nd floor for seating. Since we needed a table for 2, we got a very small table near the stairs. The table was so small, we knew right away that it be an issue given the amount of food we ordered. Our waitress came by and we added grilled eggplant, lemon potatoes and the beat salad. The brought us a small basket of pita like bread, hot, fluffy and delicious. So we had all the appetizers but the food took 30 mins and from the looks, it dis not seemed busy. In my opinion, the side dishes should be brought out with main courses but i guess thats NOT what they do here. I recalled asking at the counter for light seasoning on the red snapper. When the fish came to the table, it had some type of breadcrumbs and oil or butter. Which in my opinion is not bad but i appreciate the unique texture and flavor red snapper has all on its own. The octopus was good but i never had it sliced looking like bacon strips. Tasty but different, scallops had a little paprika, cooled perfectly. The smelts were fried just perfectly, like good french fries. I assume this restaurant is a mix of middle-Mediterranean cooking style. Food was tasty, style of service was definitely different. I will come back and try the lunch specials during the week. As a side note, accessing the restrooms was very confusing, they have 2 restrooms, there was a line to get into the restrooms. Very clean bathrooms for sure.

Being honest, it's been a while since I have returned because I have favored Hamido Seafood lately, right after a previous love affair with Abuqir Seafood two doors down. Then there is the old reliable Astoria Seafood and the new kid on the block, Le Petite Pecheur, which I really enjoy as well. However, once again, Sabry's proves again that they have the best pitas in the business. A full basket comes with fluffy and chewy goodness that none of their competitors can match. I do wish their dips (babaganoush, humus, tahini) were better as I have mentioned, but they are all solid 7's. Onto the seafood. What an excellent version of Grilled Octopus (9/10), with maybe the best crispy char I have tasted in recent memory. I do wish the sauce had a touch of vinegar. Not a big deal. Another near perfect dish was their Grilled Sea Scallops (9/10). They were extra large, super tender, sitting in a pool of delicious tangy sauce (reminiscent of NoLa style BBQ shrimp sauce). The Grilled Shrimps (7/10) were slightly overcooked, while the Taojine Mixed (7/10) was somewhat watery and a bit too dill forward. Lastly, the broth of the Seafood Soup (7/10) was clean and light. The calamri and clams were still tender, but the shrimps were a tad overcooked once again. Clearly after this meal, I have to add Sabry's back into my rotation of pick your own seafood type of restaurants. This was the place where I had my first experience with Egyptian style seafood and it is still one of the best after all these years.

The whole vibe felt warm and made it a really nice family dinner. My grandma and mom both seemed happy and enjoyed everything, which honestly mattered most. We ordered two Greek salads (definitely could've gotten away with just one -- they're huge and very shareable). We also had the Mediterranean spreads: tzatziki, eggplant, and a spicy spread. Everything was solid and great for sharing. We also got grilled octopus as an appetizer -- super tender and really well done. For my main, I had the grilled deboned red snapper -- absolutely delicious. It came with a creamy lemon sauce on the side that you can pour over the fish, plus oregano fries and grilled vegetables. The veggies were amazing, especially the grilled onions that just melted in your mouth. We also ordered takeout: kefte kebab with fries, which was maybe smaller portion but it was good flavor. For dessert we had a baklava float (I think that was the name) with coffees to finish. Very happy with the whole meal overall. Drinks at the bar beforehand were also a highlight -- sangria and a gin, lavender, elderflower, cucumber cocktail that my grandma actually loved.

However, since we came on Valentine's Day, I noticed that many couples were given roses as they walked in. My partner, who was the only Black woman in the restaurant, did not receive a rose when we entered. At the time, we didn't think much of it and continued with our dinner. As the evening went on, though, we saw more couples come in and receive roses. Some of these couples were seated next to us, which left a bad taste in my mouth. I can't help but wonder what criteria the restaurant used to decide who received a rose and why so many couples who arrived after us were given one. Unfortunately, this experience spoiled my enjoyment of the restaurant and left me feeling conflicted. We ordered plenty of food, left more then 20% tip and if anyone from the restaurant sees this please reach out, if there was some criteria that needed to be met to receive a rose I would love to know

I'm so glad we did. It was wonderful. Some of the best greek food i've ever had. The service was lovely. Thank you to Daniel. My friends and I ordered a bunch of stuff on the menu and it was absolutely wonderful. There is also very delicious complementary dessert. It is a small restaurant so it's very tight. Everyone is kind of crushed together. The food is a bit on the expensive side but absolutely worth it. I can't wait to come back one day. Amazing experience with wonderful food and service!

If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. The octopus and lamb chops came out to $80~ pre-tax and tip. Would recommend if you're a fan of seafood!
