Love coming here to watch the Knicks play. All of the staff is pretty nice and the drinks are always pretty good and the food is pretty decent. Thursday-Saturday nights are usually pretty lively because they have a dj so it can get pretty loud. Overall great neighborhood spot.

5th Anniversary Party Hors D'oeuvres - crab salad tart and ceviche

I had been intrigued by The Highwood from the moment it had opened. While sports bars were not normally my go-to, that one had great reviews, an expansive space, and a stunning view. The other day, my social media feed was full of announcements of the restaurant's 5th anniversary party. The festivities were super hyped up and the promise of complementary passed hors d'œuvres and champagne for the first hour, immediately caught my attention. I made a reservation, and we hopped on the light rail, making it a very quick trip into Weehawken and a 2 minute walk to The Highwood. The energy of the place could be felt from a block away. We walked up to the red carpet and past the bouncer to enter the large bar. The hostess then walked us through the dining room, seating us at a table with a great view of their outdoor patio and the Hudson River just beyond that. Once we were seated, the passed appetizers started to appear in rapid fire, and I appreciated that they brought them to the diners at tables, not just the crowds at their two bars. I sampled the following bites, many of which were snack-sized portions of regular menu items: 1.) Ribeye Anticuchos (skewer of prime ribeye with anticuchera sauce and a single small potato with chimichurri) - Meat was tender and flavorful, but the sauce was very smoky and had an overpowering amount of cumin in it. The potato was enjoyable. 2.) Highwood Ceviche (catch of the day (snapper?), red onions, habanero, sweet potato, corn, cancha, rocoto-tiger milk) - Acidic, but fresh and bright 3.) Beef Sliders (patty with white cheddar cheese, fried onions, on a sweet bun) -Burger meat had a burnt taste, and the bun was dry and crumbly. 4.) Ricotta toast with red grapes (crunchy bread, topped with runny, sweet cheese and sliced, marinated grapes) - Dynamic bite of textures and flavors 5.) Crab Salad Tarts (crab salad in a small pastry crust, topped with fish eggs) - The crust was too delicate and broke easily, and the salad had way too much mayo. Since I had had those few extra tastes, I wanted to get a meal that was not too heavy, so I went with the Sweet & Spicy Poke Bowl. However, for $14, it was much larger than I had anticipated. The bowl started with sushi rice, which was then topped with teriyaki salmon, colossal crab meat, avocado, seaweed salad, cucumber, edamame, crispy onions, and furikake. Every ingredient was fresh and tasty, but the dish was dry. I requested a cup of ponzu sauce, which made the dish much more enjoyable. I paired the food with the One in a Melon cocktail, one of the few mixed drinks included in the $12 happy hour special. The potent blend included a hefty pour of Olmeca Altos Tequila Blanco, mixed with fresh watermelon. The happy hour also included select $5 drafts. In addition, I heard very good reviews about the Hickory Stick Old Fashioned. I also would be remis without mentioning the service, which was stellar! We were continually checked on by our server, other front of the house members, and even the manager, but in a positive way. You could tell the staff really cared about the patrons and were skilled at "touching tables" at the precise intervals to be attentive and not annoying. The vibe was a mix of a sports bar, with televisions covering almost all of the wall space, and night club with trendy dressers and DJ tunes. The drinks were creative, and the food offered something for everyone (burgers to salads to sushi, etc.). The Highwood really offered an uplifting experience that validated their five years of success.

Made a reservation at this place for a date night. Upon arrival found out the public parking lot near this place was $40. Upon entering the restaurant I realized it was a sports bar. And the place was packed with soccer fans as Real and Barca were playing Copa Del Rey final. There were TVs everywhere showing the game, really cool place to come with group of friends for game day. We got a table by the bar area. Another guest party was sharing the corner of our table. Just totally awkward!!! Since we were already committed, we ordered drinks and food. The salmon slider, sushi rolls and mussels were ordinary dishes. Branzino was cooked well but all other ingredients it came with in the plate, didn't suit the dish. The bartender who was also attending our table was a friendly person. She tried her best make our dinner better. She also mistakenly gave us the wrong check that we caught after paying. But she quickly refunded the wrong charge and brought us the right check. It wasn't the upscale dining spot that I thought it would be, but to watch a sport event with group of friends, I might consider this place.

We went for a date night and it was not how my husband pictured it. It was a sports bar and a soccer game going on. The crowd was rowdy. If I was there for the game, I probably would enjoy more. It was nice of them to sit away from the crowd in a lower section. We had mussel as appetizers, Bronzino, sushi and sliders. Mussels came with pasta(?), not sure why, flavor was not bad. Bronzino itself was good but the sides were confusing. I liked all ingredients by itself but all together was very overwhelming. Sushi 3/5 and sliders 3.5/5 were standard. No wow factor for me. The waitress was nice and friendly but gave us a wrong check. Good thing we checked before paying. Parking in garage at the hotel adjacent to it. There were other events going on. The parking fee was $40. Overall I think we were at the wrong place and the wrong time. Food was 3.5/5. Maybe it will be a better occasion gathering to watch a game in this restaurant than date night.

The Highwood is a beautiful sports bar, with stunning views of NYC. Great food and drinks , as well great service. Big screens throughout the restaurant and a lively atmosphere, definitely one of the best places to watch a game in this area.

If you're looking for a more upscale version of a sports bar, where you can watch sports on a bunch of large TVs around the bar and eat nachos from the comfort of a leather banquette, plus premium views of the city line, then the Highwood is for you. The menu ticks all the boxes - bar food like burgers and wings while also offering sushi rolls and nigiri and poke bowls (a bit of a side-eye from yours truly at a menu that covers so much ground). Because I'm easily influenced, I ordered the combo that I saw a recent reviewer got - sliders and ceviche. The salmon sliders were pretty good; I loved the combo of pickled onions and dill mayo but I would have picked another kind of bun. The ciabatta bread was a little too much bread for the salmon patty. The ceviche actually tasted quite similar to the amazing ceviche I had in Mexico. There was a good amount of seafood for the price, from some sort of white fish to shrimp to octopus, and I loved the generous amount of corn and corn nuts in it. For the price of a pretty substantial bowl of seafood ($22), I was pleasantly surprised. We came on the earlier side of a Saturday evening and food came out fast. Parking: I booked via SpotHero and had no issues with getting the ticket validated, the trickiest part was finding the parking office between the Envue and Dunkin Donuts.

Great views! And they just redid their outdoor area it's perfect for watching the game or any sporting event! The food was great and the service is awesome. Shoutout to ANGEL for the amazing service!! Some of my favorites from the menu: * Truffle Burrata & Grilled Peaches - Maplebrook farm burrata, grilled peaches, elderflower vinaigrette, sesame seeds, red radishes, basil oil, grilled sourdough bread * Highwood Ceviche - Catch of the day, red onions, habanero, sweet potato, corn, cancha, rocoto-tiger milk * Ocean Sushi Roll - Spicy tuna, avocado, cucumber, scallions, torched salmon, eel sauce, spicy mayo * Lomo Saltado - Wok stir-fried beef tenderloin, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, red vinegar, soy sauce, oyster sauce, native potatoes, chaufa rice * Delmonico - USDA prime Delmonico steak, garlic-herb compound butter, pommes aligot, crispy young beans, barolo sauce * Rigatoni Alla Vodka with Burrata - Spicy creamy pink sauce, rigatoni pasta, 24-month aged Parmigiano Reggiano, garlic bread crumbs, basil * Brussel 'n Cream - Blanched brussels, applewood smoked bacon, garlic, onions, nutmeg, chives

We had made a reservation for a 2 for a high top. They had 4 high top tables with a view and the rest were near the bar/ entry way. I asked if we could sit outside. I found that the outside tables were nicer it was also a nice day out! The host was so pleasant and sat my friend and I outside no problem! We made a reservations for 7 pm on a Tuesday night. Around 8 pm it started to get busy. Our waiter was great as well and not only our waiter but every staff member that walked by was willing to help us with anything. It seemed the staff had each others backs when waiting on tables. That's extremely nice! The food was great too. My friend said her Filet mignon was burnt. She said that usually happens when you ask for well done but it was still alright. The red sangria was delicious. GET THE CALAMARI. GET THE BURRATA. Parking was easy. We parked in the Marriot residence parking garage and it was only $10 each when we went to pay. After we walked along the water and the views were incredible. There's nothing like it. I would recommend this place but I wouldn't be in a rush to go. Def worth a try!! Actually we will be back for brunch because it seems that's their prime thing from reviews and advertisement.

Great spot in a beautiful area and on the river. Staff was very attentive. They have multiple bars. Only drawback is if no spots on the street which is likely, Piad parking garage.

LOVED the decor and ambiance. This place is a VIBE and there were no games playing when my girls and I showed up for brunch. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive and paid attention to detail. Everything was great from the pancakes to the wings to the oysters to the spicy margaritas. It hit the spot. I'm looking forward to the next brunch.

casual sports bar with great view. a great spot for a date night out. food was decent- typical bar food burgers fries etc. we sat outside and enjoyed the view and each other. Service was good, came back often to ask if we wanted another drink etc. afterwards just went and walked around and enjoyed the riverside view. The one negative is parking can be hard and there's a lot of traffic on river road due to construction.

    Guacamole and Teriyaki wings!

    Any brunch drink special?

    Mimosas!

FYI, it looks like they close their kitchen at 10:30?

    I can't speak upon that.

Aside from salads, do they have good vegan food as a main course? Beyond or impossible burgers at least?

No, they don't have vegan food

What is the ambience or vibe like? Romantic? Sports bar?

Somewhere in between. More of an upscale sports bar. You can definitely bring a date here, but it's not a quiet or intimate setting.

Does the outdoor seating have any space heaters?

Hi Kyna!!! We do have space heaters. When you make a reservation please request a table with a heater and we will do our best to accommodate you.

    What's the parking situation?

Very limited free street parking around there. Plenty of paid garage spots (around $12 for a couple of hours)

I would have absolutely been a regular here back in the day. The Rooftop is spacious with plenty of places to chill & relax. I ordered a Cucumber Limonade $16 (Vodka, Cucumber, Lime, & Elderflower). It was crisp & refreshing. Perfect for this beautiful sunny day. My friend was right. The view was stunning - with sweeping views of the city and the harbor. We get that they have policies to follow, but it felt a bit unfair to penalize the entire group--especially since the rest of us weren't drinking or acting out of line. To make things more confusing, they came back later and said we could order alcohol after all, but by that point, the mood was already off and we decided to leave. The place didn't seem bad overall, but that experience definitely left a sour taste. Maybe we just caught them on a weird night. Wouldn't recommend especially being in the wine country.

Great place for friends, families, dates of all ages. We checked in on the ground floor (also have a coat check here) and were told they have a cabin themed course on the 2nd floor and a museum themed course on the 3rd floor, but there was a party going on. They also told us about the rooftop lounge, which is covered with plastic and they have heaters blasting the space. We went with the cabin themed. Although I don't think they completely blocked the 3rd floor with the party, we just didn't want to have to compete with others and wanted a quiet experience. They have stairs or an elevator. Once we got to the 2nd floor, we were the only ones there and were explained how the digital scoring works. We inputted our names, and our scoreboard would follow us from board to board in sequence after we all punched in our scores. The max was 6 putts per course to help keep things moving (we definitely played more than 6 on some courses lol). The courses did progressively get more challenging as you moved on. The decor was beautiful. Fairy lights lined the space with murals or a ski lodge/mountains around with a polar bear and a ski mobile. Many cute photo ops. On the last course, once you made it, the game swallowed your ball, I guess to help prevent you from trying to play the course again. I wish there was more than 9 courses though. It was fun enough but maybe having a few more would have helped fill the time more. Time flew by and we had lots of laughs. Would be excited to come back to try the museum course next time.

After some back-and-forth, we learned the vouchers could only be used on the second floor, and if used for drinks, there was only one option available -- a blue rum drink with coconut. Unfortunately, the drink missed the mark for me and my friends, and the recipe could definitely use some improvement. We were also never shown where our reserved seating was, which was disappointing. That said, I had an amazing group of friends, and we still made the night a lot of fun. We played the Lodge course on the second floor, which is their most challenging course and beautifully decorated. I also loved the tablet that kept score for us -- it was a great touch. The rooftop area is another highlight: it's heated and really enjoyable during the winter. Overall, while the atmosphere and mini golf were fun, I wouldn't book a party package again -- it wasn't worth the cost. Next time, I'd just pay for mini golf directly.
