Everything is soooo good with this place! Came in close to closing time and we were served promptly swiftly with no quality sacrifice in any way. Great home style ambiance. Our second time since we happened to be close by having drinks.

Pork souvlaki platter with fries, pita, salad $22

4.5: Great Greek food, elegant atmosphere and nice service in a small spot. We came here on an early Saturday evening without a reservation but were seated with the stipulation of being done in an hour; this was not a problem since the food came out at a good pace. There were a lot of empty tables awaiting reservations. The complimentary bread and olive tapenade were also appreciated. We really enjoyed the food: spanakopita ($20) was tasty with a very flaky Phyllo and a fresh salad with grape leaves and chunks of feta, things you don't normally see in a side salad. The pork souvlaki platter ($22) with fries was also very tasty. Their menu is not super big but adequate options. If you have a special occasion, this is also a good spot but be sure to make reservations and know it's a relatively small place. The atmosphere and decor are very comfortable though it can get very loud if there are a lot of customers (and these customers seemed to be enjoying their experience!); perhaps because of the small place and acoustics. BYOB. They had an entrance in the back so they likely have a small parking Iot there? But we found parking around the corner, as there's no 2 hour parking limit on weekends.

Awesome greek spot! the most authentic Greek experience i've had in NJ hands down. From the appetizers to the desserts the dishes were awesome! A few highlights were the fried calamari, super fresh and lightly battered. The desserts were outrageously good and everything made in house! If you get the meat platter just expect to bring home left overs it's huge! definitely come try this place if you like greek food.

Excellent restaurant! Food was FRESH and tasty! Everything came out hot! The staff was also very nice, loved the croquettes and the mussels! The plate of all different meats was enough to feed at least 3/4 people!

I found another gem today. We wanted to have seafood, but most Mediterranean restaurants don't have many seafood options. I was searching for one. We wanted to try this one. Bingo! The service was friendly. The food was good. The ambiance was clean and tidy. What else to ask? We will definitely return to this place.

    Greek Lunch Bowl (Gyro)

Decided to try this spot again for lunch. This time went with the Gyro greek lunch bowl. You have an option of going with rice or fries. I went with the fries. The bowl came with slices of gyro meats, a fresh Greek salad, pita, rice and sauce. I would have rated it 5 stars, but the gyro meat was highly salty for my taste at least. Portion size and value is 5 stars,

    BUTTER!!

I am happy to say that Nisiotis Taverna has the best butter in town! My tongue literally did a dance. I asked the nicest gentleman to bring me some butter for my bread and he pointed to what he called "the Greek butter", it was a can of olive oil. After this wonderful interaction he then proceeded to bring me not a normal packet of butter yet a whole chuck of butter that almost made me cry how heavenly it tasted. Thank you Nisiotis Taverna and I will be back for my butter!!

Nisiotis Taverna is fairly new taking over this small storefront location from a prior Greek restaurant. It's BYOB and has parking in the rear with a back entrance too. Cute, Greek decor with a very friendly, helpful, and professional staff. I would recommend calling ahead on weekends as there is really no area to wait for a table. I did like Nisiotis but sort of "rounded up" to give it 4 Stars. THE FOOD Apps... -- Pikilia which is a customer picked variety of infamous Greek dips served with warm pita slices. Of the 6 offered we tried the Hummus (chickpea based) --a good version Melitzanosalata ( smokey roasted eggplant) --was the best we tried Skordalia (garlic & potato) --another good version --Saganaki ( Fried kefalogaviera cheese) was what I see almost everywhere, fried cheese in a dish with some honey looking like melted plastic. It was good but I prefer when restaurants go to the next level. I've seen this dish breaded and shaped into sticks served with Greek honey and a piece of watermelon ( or other seasonal fruit). Again, this was a "good" dish. --Greek Chips ( Lightly fired zucchini & eggplant chips served with tzaiki), now this was a very good dish. Super lightly fried in fresh oil, almost delicate. Served with (IMO) a very good. MAINS... --Pastitsio is a very standard comfort food with layers of good things. This version was (again "good") --Yiayia's Recipe (Beef stew, layered eggplant, topped with melted cheese) loosely translated means "Grandma's special" was good. maybe need a little more seasoning. But the meat was very tender ( perfectly cooked) I think this should have been made with lamb instead of beef to make it more " Greek". ---There was a dish ( I cannot recall or find the name) that was excellent. Calamari rings with shrimp over linguine pasta in a red fish stock sauce. Plenty of perfectly cooked seafood served in a crock. I noticed a lot of Specials were fish based and they seemed to recommend ( be proud) of their fish entrees. Bronzino, salmon, etc. I'm thinking fish is the best way to go here. Forget the standards like moussaka, souvlaki or gyros. DESSERTS ( not made in house)... We tried: Baklava ( needed more honey, maybe more cinnamon?); Galaktoboureko ( Custard filled phyllo pastry) again, maybe need more honey or flavoring...like an orange zest. However the rice pudding was perfect with best consistency and plenty of cinnamon in every bite. Overall its a " good" restaurant. Great for locals who like Greek food. But IMO, dining our prices are a lot higher thesde days. I look for a little bit more. Hoping they can push some limits. Tweak some recipes. And have great success. ( Last advice to ownership: Fix your website. Only Pick Up or Delivery menu shows; It's 10pm now, you are closed and only menu anyone can see is tomorrow's lunch menu when you reopen. I have to wait until lunch is over tomorrow to see your dinner menu?? Help yourselves grow your business. Simple fix. ) Kalí týchi !

They have a decent sized dining area for dine-in, and the take-out area is right as you walk in the side door. Here you will also find a grocery area with Lebanese essentials. I will return every opportunity I get.

The baba ghanoush was everything I love in a good eggplant dip and was a definite win in our book - seasoned, textured, and slightly smokey. They're like elongated loaves of marinated and spiced ground chicken, and delicious with rice and a dollop of yogurt sauce. We preferred these over the chicken kebab, which were just as flavorful but quite a bit drier. Both entrees were served with a grilled tomato and pepper, which were still warm and charred from the grill. They also came with small side salads, with lightly dressed and slightly wilted greens. My husband appreciated the extra veggies with our meal, but I far preferred the warm and soft pita rounds.

The menu is simple, but covers everything we love. Server came by with warm, fresh, fluffy seasoned pita and a dish of seasoned olive oil. Great start. Started with Cheese Borek and Fried Liver cubes -- The Borek was the best we have had and we order that anytime we dine Mediterrean. The 4 Borek were fat, fried to perfection, and their filling of Feta and spinach was hot, melty and super tasty. We love love Fried Liver, and Lulu does it to perfection. The portion was huge, and dressed with red onion and lemon juice, it sang. We decided to split an order of Manti, those delightful tiny lamb dumplings tossed with burnt butter and garlic yogurt -- holy holy. We ran some liver around that sauce, and were glad we saved some of the bread to sop everything up. So good. Ordered the Kunefe, as we always do. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the table -- so if you are thinking about it, order it before they take your dinner plates away. The Kunefe was good. We think they forgot to add to the syrup it comes in -- but maybe that's the way they do it. It won't disappoint, but I missed that rosewater sugar syrup we are used to. Different places, different recipes. In all, Lulu did not disappoint and we look forward to visiting again. Go, go go. And tip your servers well.

We started with the grilled octopus that had delicious seasoning with mix of olive oil and red wine vinegar. The complimentary bread was fluffy, accompanied perfectly with the octopus. One had eaten and taken out from here before and liked it, so we called, didn't need a reservation, off we went. At about 5:15, give or take, we were the first patrons there. It's a lovely large space, warmly decorated with tables and some banquettes. We chose a 4-top kind of right in the center! Comfy chairs, btw. The menu isn't strictly Greek or Lebanese or Turkish, kind of a combo of good choices from those cuisines. We started with an appetizer called Tinos Artichoke. Very interesting, served with small warm fresh wedges of pita plus a cup of deliciously seasoned pita chips. It's a dip of mashed artichokes with Greek yogurt, sun dried tomatoes, parsley, garlic, feta. S tasty! It's a great portion to share among several people. My friends each ordered the chicken soup with vegetables for appetizers. Quite a nice sized bowl for the price; I love avgolemono, if that's what it was (I didn't taste it), just didn't feel like having soup. They both liked it very much and then they were pretty full! I ordered two appetizers for my meal - Symi Shrimp and Grilled Halloumi. Excellent choices, and they worked really well together as a meal! The 2 slabs of perfectly cooked halloumi are served on a bed of romaine lettuce and some threads of carrot. The shrimp are small, very lightly breaded and deliciously seasoned; menu says garlic, lemon, but they were reddish so I suspect maybe paprika as well or cayenne + paprika (not hot but not bland), shredded feta sprinkled liberally on top. I'm a big eater, but after the appetizer I wasn't able to finish my meal; today I reheated in the toaster oven for a lunch treat! One friend had just the Symi shrimp as her meal; the soup had filled her up and she also took some home. Our other friend had the chicken shish. This came as a really well-balanced plate, with plenty of cubes of chicken, rice, and veggies. We ALL had to-go bags! Appetizer portions, just based on the appetizers we were served, are ample for sharing. Didn't stay for dessert, as I had a train to catch back into the City. When I'm out in Bergen County again, I'll think about coming back. If you live in the area, GO, It's very good and not exorbitantly priced.

Tino's Artichoke is a tasty start - an artichoke dip with feta and sun-dried tomatoes served with pita chips. We'll usually get the mixed grill (but subbing lamb in for the beef, way more flavor). Or, a mix of grilled octopus, grilled calamari and a salad. Everything is very flavorful and goes great with the pita bread. Our calamari was a little chewy this last visit, which surprised me. It's never like that. Octopus is always tender and comes with tasty charred onions, peppers, caperberries. Other delicious dishes here - chicken shish, the steak, gyro, grilled shrimp, lamb shish.
