Just left Jersey gyros. What a great place to grab a gyro. I was tasked to find a restaurant for lunch with my wife. She loves a good gyro. So I got to scrolling on yelp and every gyro picture looks exactly the same. What got me about Jersey gyros is their pictures of gyros with fries in them. Ok I mean if you're going to put goodness with goodness it's definitely a place you want to visit then right. Visited and loved it. How often do you find places that have a pork gyro...and with fries in it. My wife got the lamb gyro, just as good but I think I'm bias. Pork gyro all the way. Service, awesome. Met the owner, very nice guy. This August will be 4 years for them. If you're not into gyro, the owner alone is already good company. The space itself is small, which is fine. I've been on a Greek food kick and after trying 2 other spots in the area recently, I decided to try this one on a whim. My usual order is the chicken souvlaki platter which here comes with a salad, spread, side and pita. I ordered mine sans salad, tzatziki spread and Greek fries; in addition I requested a side of pink sauce which I've never gotten asked anything further but here they didn't seem to know what I was referring to and offered me another type of pink like sauce, which did end up being tasty, albeit it wasn't what I was looking for and it was dumped in the container rather than in a little sauce container. I also asked what their avo tzatziki sauce was ie did it have avocado and was just told no without further detail. Overall, the service was friendly but I wish the person at the register was more knowledgeable/sharing about the food. The food itself was very tasty and worth the visit. I would just plan on coming with an order in mind and not expecting the spot to be able to provide much assistance. Lastly, other places have offered for same price and set up adding in rice but I guess since they offer salad that's the trade off. read more

Mastiha water lemonade and the Loux Orange Juice drinks were my favorite. *FUN FACT* Mastiha water has many benefits, such as digestive issue relief and antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. For entrees, we had the lamb, chicken, pork and VEGAN gyros followed by the Loukaniko (a type of Greek sausage) platter with pita bread. The meat was so flavorful and delicious; I certainly enjoyed this dish. Though I don't eat pork, my friend definitely thinks they are indeed the HOME of the pork gyro! Jersey Gyro's has been on my socials for some time --- finally got to try this gem today! Ordered two yummy items: the first, I had at the restaurant itself --- the lamb gyro ($11). It took probably about 3-4 minutes at my seat before the employee came and delivered my food. First impression? It looked exactly how I saw it on Instagram! The pita was filled with yummy veggies, lots of lamb, and a PILE of freshly fried fries. Topped with some sauce --- yup, definitively a 10! On the way out, I ordered a spanakopita ($8) to take home. When I opened the container, there was a massive square of delicious dough and spinach. One taste of that dish, and I was transported! Another 10/10. Finally a Greek place nearby with lots of options. We have been twice and tried the pork, chicken and lamb gyros as well as 3 of their dips (babaganoush, fava and spicy feta). The baba was my favorite. The gyros are all well seasoned and bursting with flavor. You have the option to put the gyro on a roll which my husband is liking as a change from pita (especially with pork). Portions are also quite large for the price. So much dip. You won't go hungry. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and amount of food they give. It's located in an area with a lot of other stores so there's plenty of parking. I got the falafel platter with rice and French fries with tzatziki sauce. The food was flavorful and tasted great. The French fried were SO good. The falafels were nice and crunchy. I decided on their Paketo Platter, which came with 1 protein (lamb gyro), but asked for an additional (chicken), 1 base (Greek salad), 1 spread (hummus), and 1 side (Greek fries) served with pita bread and a Loux orange juice drink. The flavor and the spices cooked to perfection equal an amazing meal. They didn't skimp on the portion, as it was good for a second meal whose price was reasonable. Found out about this new place for Greek specialties in a recent article in our local paper. It told the inspirational story of the owner wanting to bring his family's authentic Mediterranean recipes to New Jersey. Drove by on Labor Day and they were closed. No worries... THAT would not stop this self-proclaimed gyro aficionado from swinging by for another go. Tonight was that night. And I am so glad I did. Got the lamb gyro and an order of the spanakopita. The gyros were 10 bucks apiece, and that may seem a bit pricey...But, after seeing the people eating the remarkable size of the sandwiches at the outside tables on the way in -- Totally understandable and a REALLY good value. The taste? EXCELLENT! Juicy lamb that was obviously home made (and not sliced from some frozen, pre-fab cone). This sandwich which, I must note, comes with a helping of fresh, salty, hand-cut fries atop it IS A MEAL!!! The spanakopita was perfectly seasoned, flaky, and packed with spinach. I detected a hint of something somewhat unique to the many spinach pies I've tried. Nutmeg? Not completely sure, but (whatever it is) it was notable and working! This was another satisfying value at 8 bucks. Definitely leaning more towards a meal portion than the appetizer it is advertised as. Will definitely be back to continue to sample other things on the menu! (And perhaps some of the imported Greek deserts and soft drinks as well.) This is the 3rd time doing takeout since the place opened. Each time has been excellent. Favorites are the falafel that has great crunch and flavor. The gyro meat is tasty all the time. The amount of food with the platters is plenty. The sides are tasty, too. Butter beans are a must. If you like spicy, the spicy feta hits just right. The quality for a takeout place is terrific. It is better than some of the more known meditteranean restaurants in the area. The takeaway packaging is a nice plus.
