Really enjoyed this place. Love the fries on the gyros. The employees were friendly and the food was really good. Sponikopita was a nice size and had great flavor. Will be back.

Very delicious place to get gyros! I ordered the lamb gyro and my husband ordered the pork and we both enjoyed our sandwiches! We will definitely be back!

I've been on a Greek food kick and after trying 2 other spots in the area recently, I decided to try this one on a whim. My usual order is the chicken souvlaki platter which here comes with a salad, spread, side and pita. I ordered mine sans salad, tzatziki spread and Greek fries; in addition I requested a side of pink sauce which I've never gotten asked anything further but here they didn't seem to know what I was referring to and offered me another type of pink like sauce, which did end up being tasty, albeit it wasn't what I was looking for and it was dumped in the container rather than in a little sauce container. I also asked what their avo tzatziki sauce was ie did it have avocado and was just told no without further detail. Overall, the service was friendly but I wish the person at the register was more knowledgeable/sharing about the food. The food itself was very tasty and worth the visit. I would just plan on coming with an order in mind and not expecting the spot to be able to provide much assistance. Lastly, other places have offered for same price and set up adding in rice but I guess since they offer salad that's the trade off.

Wonderful staff. We had questions about an item and they were very straight forward and polite. My husband and I each got a platter. They are very hearty portions. They even carry Gluten free pita which is a win! The lamb was very flavorful. My salad was lovely with the piece of fresh feta. I enjoyed my platter; had to save about half which is definitely going to be my dinner. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable to eat in. Highly recommend.

This is my third time going to this location and the food is always delicious! The owner is extremely kind and even let us try the newer yellow sauce on a previous visit. This visit we ordered the chicken pita sandwich and it was very tasty but it looks exactly like a gyro sandwich so I'm not sure if we were given the correct order.

Jersey Gyro's has been on my socials for some time --- finally got to try this gem today! Ordered two yummy items: the first, I had at the restaurant itself --- the lamb gyro ($11). It took probably about 3-4 minutes at my seat before the employee came and delivered my food. First impression? It looked exactly how I saw it on Instagram! The pita was filled with yummy veggies, lots of lamb, and a PILE of freshly fried fries. Topped with some sauce --- yup, definitively a 10! On the way out, I ordered a spanakopita ($8) to take home. When I opened the container, there was a massive square of delicious dough and spinach. One taste of that dish, and I was transported! Another 10/10. Give this place a chance, food is yummy and inside was very clean. The employee said the spanakopita, plus all the desserts they have on the counter, are baked fresh every single day. They are truly representing! Next time I am going to try their FAMOUS pork gyros. You heard that right!

Best gyros around. Big portions fresh food. Definitely worth the price. The people that work there are the nicest people ever as well. There's a few tables inside if you want to sit there and eat. All the meats are very good the chicken is dark meat. I love the lamb.

The owner Mike is there at all times making your food to be sure you have an amazing traditional. I started out with a gluten-free pita And a pulled pork gyro . Soooo amazing need some tzatziki so I loaded up on it YUM ! and the spanakopita both so amazing. You like Greek food ? This is the spot !

Got a lamb gyro and it was tasty. Fries were seasoned with greek seasoning and lemon , lamb was tender and thin, and the tzatziki sauce added a nice freshness. The sandwich was also loaded with fresh lettuce, onion and tomato. The service was also excellent, fast and they came around asking how the food was (always appreciate it when they care)

So delicious!! Authentic Greek food, simple, tasty, and fresh. Top notch service, comfortable space. When the owner told me his mom made the desserts from scratch, I knew this place was the real deal. Will definitely be back to try more things on the menu!!

Finally a Greek place nearby with lots of options. We have been twice and tried the pork, chicken and lamb gyros as well as 3 of their dips (babaganoush, fava and spicy feta). The baba was my favorite. The gyros are all well seasoned and bursting with flavor. You have the option to put the gyro on a roll which my husband is liking as a change from pita (especially with pork). Portions are also quite large for the price. So much dip. You won't go hungry. The chicken gyro has a house mustard sauce which was different. I think so far my favorite is the classic lamb gyro. We tried one of the cakes but weren't crazy about it.

From cooking to salad dressings, Greek olive oil made from lemon, basil, and oregano is their liquid gold. Located on a busy Boulevard in the heart of Hasbrouck Heights, I finally got the opportunity to stop in at this BYOB family-owned/operated establishment. Upon entering for lunch after 4 years, Sofia's Mediterranean Grill, named after the owner's mom, I was greeted by the staff. I got a booth, immediately knowing how they get crowded. The inside evoked a cozy and warm vibe with Greek music playing throughout. Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting. Their menu features an array of traditional Mediterranean dishes, offering a variety of soups, appetizers, salads, sandwiches, meats from the grill, seafood cooked various ways, and entrees cooked from the oven. I decided on the Greek salad with grilled chicken. The food was authentic, fresh using the finest ingredients, delicious, and prepared simply, which is exactly what I was looking for. The portion was healthy. The service is always friendly and welcoming. I got to connect with the owner, Nick, a fellow Astorian, to catch up about the old neighborhood. The price was reasonable. If one's craving the vibrant flavors of the Mediterranean, then look no further. One doesn't need to book a flight to Greece to enjoy authentic meals.

Unlike many restaurants today, Nisiotis Taverna had pure virgin olive oil on the table in a clean white bottle which we used generously and thankfully to dip our bread into. Yum! The spreads were excellent and the pita was toasted just right and served warm. The pita was chewy, warm and well toasted. The lamb chops were grilled exactly to requested temperature and seasoned correctly. The fries that came with that were warm and crispy. Lightly sprinkled with dried oregano for that Greek flavor. The branzino was filet fresh and grilled to perfection. But I would suggest getting it with vegetables instead of potatoes, which were fine but not particularly special. They also had "off the menu" selection of sea food which were recommended and fresh. The black bass was truly as fresh as I've had in NJ, but slightly, just slightly, undercooked: A minute undercooked. This was actually good for me but some may recoil a little. Otherwise it was perfection. If you know how to eat fish, I'd ask for it whole, instead of fillet'd. The dandelions that came with it was over cooked but the mild flavor was a good compliment to the black bass. They also had large anchovies, which grilled properly would be awesome. The service was spot on but not intrusive but it wasn't busy because of our late lunch. The ambience and decor was charming and really helped to focus our minds towards beautiful beaches and warm breezes of the Greek islands, where this kind of food would be served. Overall a very good experience but slightly expensive. There was nothing wrong with the food per se but slight improvements here and there could make it fantastic: For example, vegetable was over-cooked, and black bass was just slightly undercooked. Regardless, I recommend this quaint Taverna! The owner's care and friendliness topped the scale from a four to a five star. Realistically, it is a 4.5 or 9/10.

There were a lot of empty tables awaiting reservations. The complimentary bread and olive tapenade were also appreciated. We really enjoyed the food: spanakopita ($20) was tasty with a very flaky Phyllo and a fresh salad with grape leaves and chunks of feta, things you don't normally see in a side salad. The pork souvlaki platter ($22) with fries was also very tasty. Their menu is not super big but adequate options. If you have a special occasion, this is also a good spot but be sure to make reservations and know it's a relatively small place. The atmosphere and decor are very comfortable though it can get very loud if there are a lot of customers (and these customers seemed to be enjoying their experience!); perhaps because of the small place and acoustics. BYOB. They had an entrance in the back so they likely have a small parking Iot there? But we found parking around the corner, as there's no 2 hour parking limit on weekends.

We preferred these over the chicken kebab, which were just as flavorful but quite a bit drier. Whether it's a roast turkey with endless sides, spicy meat stew, a seafood extravaganza, or even no-frills Kentucky Fried Chicken, there's no holding back when the season for feasting rolls around. Located on busy Broadway in Elmwood Park, we decided on our Christmas Eve dinner at this family-owned establishment. The reservation was easily made via OpenTable. Upon arrival as first-timers, my partner and I were greeted by the owner at Taverna Mykonos and got a table for two right away in the corner where the tables are close to each other inside their cozy, very dim-lit, and elegant dining room with Christmas music playing throughout. There's a full bar with an extensive selection of Greek wines, with approximately 80% sourced from regions across Greece, as well as other excellent choices from California and Spain. The menu featured both authentic traditional Greek dishes along with many other options. The restaurant bakes all of its bread as well as its desserts. Traditionally, the meat of choice served during a Greek Christmas meal is lamb and pork. For starters, we decided to share Keftedes (Greek-style seasoned meatballs served with tzatziki dipping sauce). For our main meal, we opted for Baby Roasted Lamb with roasted potatoes and Lamb Shank with tomato orzo. Complimentary bread started our meal, and we washed it down with a sparkling spring water product of Greece. Complimentary cookies were given to each table at the end of the meal. The food was fresh, using quality ingredients, tasty, and well-presented. We enjoyed the keftedes very much, as they were moist and complemented well with the tzatziki dipping sauce. The portion was reasonable. However, we were disappointed with the Baby Roasted Lamb, as it was mostly bones with only some pieces of edible meat. Service is professional, friendly, and fast. The cost is comparable to the area. Exchanged a few words with the owner, George, about the old neighborhood in Astoria. Opa!
