I adore Greek Taverna! This place always delivers solid Greek food, and it's absolutely beautiful on the inside. I've been here for both lunch and dinner. The lunch specials are a nice touch, and I like that they offer them on Saturdays. In recent years, they have been offering wine and beer which is also lovely. My favorite dishes are the chicken / gyro platter (although I do think the gyro meat can be a little crispier, sometimes it's a little soft for my tastes), the lemon potatoes, the pitas, and the shwarma. Their tzatziki is top notch, as well as the tavern chips (fried eggplant and zucchini). Personally, their falafel is not my favorite but I do know people who enjoy it. I haven't tried everything on the menu but I do know some things are better than others. Also, the service is usually pretty solid, too! Sometimes the younger workers can be a little confused when it comes to certain requests, but overall they are pretty accomodating. I should've read the reviews before going here for lunch. This restaurant is cute, nicely decorated great ambiance. We were given some flatbreads to snack on. The mussels we had as an appetizer were very good, and I usually don't like mussels. The entrees however, weren't as good. I was mesmerized by the incredible interaction decorations and artifacts they had. It was really a total Greek vibe. Their menu had so many items in each section. We started with the seafood sampler that had a mix of octopus, calamari and jumbo shrimp. I liked the charred shrimp, but the other two seemed dry and rubber like chewy. For entree I had a roasted lamb shank. It was a huge piece, with a large portion of lamb meat. I loved the tomato wine sauce and orzo in it too. My family ordered the whole Branzino, that was very nicely cooked. Loved the flavor. They also got the grilled chicken platter where the chicken was dry and looked ordinary. Really good food, good service and great location by the water. Our family came here for Mother's Day lunch and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. I knew that the restaurant was relatively low-key and seemingly not super popular due to the fact that there were many open reservation slots available on Resy, but, it actually got quite busy by the time we left. We came in for an 11:30am reservation and the restaurant was pretty much empty at the time. What I did love was the interior decor and how it brought me back to when I visited Santorini and Mykonos a decade ago. Literally everything in the restaurant was white, except the blue chairs. I saw on Yelp that they had done a significant reno years ago, so it definitely paid off. Service was quick throughout our lunch and we were served our food very quickly. Here's a quick run through of what we ordered: SEAFOOD PLATTER (FOR TWO) - OCTOPUS, CALAMARI & GRILLED JUMBO SHRIMP SERVED WITH LEMON OLIVE DRESSING -- Really, really good. The seafood was fresh and there was plenty of it - although a lot more of the calamari than anything else. We definitely could have used more octopus and shrimp, but a solid starter nevertheless. GYRO PLATTER - HOMEMADE GYROS SERVED WITH PITA BREAD, TZATZIKI, SALAD AND HAND-CUT FRIES -- This entree was HUGEEEE. I wasn't expecting such a massive serving, but it easily could have fed 2 people. I was hesitant to order this, but we figured our kids could share it since it was chicken. COLOSSAL TIGER PRAWNS WITH HERB RICE AND BROCCOLI -- There were 4 prawns in total, split in half, and my wife loved the flavors of it. I had 1 of the prawns and thought it was really good too. However, it was advertised as "COLOSSAL" and they didn't seem that colossal. Also, for $38, it would have been nice to have gotten 2-3 more prawns on the plate. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here. The flavors of the food were excellent, but we just wish we had more of it, especially the octopus in the seafood platter and prawns in the entree. Our friends both had Solomos Sharas (grilled salmon with rice and veggies). My wife had grilled chicken with rice, salad and tzatziki. They both loved them. I had the Santorini Risotto with chicken and mushrooms. This dish was really really good. Normally I would ask for some parmesan cheese, but not on this dish. So good just the way it was prepared. I was one of the last customers and the hostess was nice enough to let me sit and have dinner. Luckily there weren't a lot of people here so I felt comfortable. Chunks of tomatoes and cucumbers with 2 pieces of green olives, lettuce and cubes of feta cheese was pretty much what it was. Where are the wrapped grape leaves and 2 pieces of olive for the entire salad? Best part of the salad was the grilled squid which was on point.
