This is one of my favorite restaurants because the food is absolutely delicious. My mom is Puerto Rican and she even loves this place because of how authentic the food tastes. The drinks are good, and the sangria is a personal favorite of mine, but they also have really good mocktails which my friends have enjoyed. The service is always warm and friendly plus the decor/ambience of the whole restaurant is just so fun and inviting. I cannot stop recommending this restaurant to everybody! read more

I attended a private event in their upstairs space and had such a great experience. The food was served family style, and everything we tried was delicious. You could tell it was authentic, and every dish was full of flavor. I wasn't the only one who thought so either. A lot of the guests were talking about how good the food was throughout the night. The service was also excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Another big plus is that they have parking, which made it really convenient. From the outside, the restaurant looks pretty small, but once you walk in it's surprisingly spacious. The décor is beautiful and creates a really nice atmosphere. I'd definitely come back! read more

Our first time in Bistro Taino. Our nurse recommended it to us as great Puerto Rican food,how right she was. The restaurant itself is beautiful,it was a delight just to sit and enjoy the colorful decor. Since we were new to this type of food we spoke to the waiter for recommendations. He took the time to go over the menu. Came to Bistro Taino located in Bogota, NJ for the first time last night to celebrate my birthday. I pass it every day on my way to work and as a very proud Puerto Rican (as we all are) I knew I needed to try! Todo fue riquísimo!!!!! The restaurant has parking in the rear and at that entrance is a gorgeous mural of El Morro to welcome you inside. The restaurant was beautiful! There were Puerto Rican flags, quotes on the wall and odes to Puerto Rico like the iconic umbrella decorated ceiling like from El Calle de la Forteleza in Old San Juan. To start, we got several appetizers to share - pasteles, the chicharron and the alcapurria are what we choose to start. All delicious but the alcapurria with the garlic mojo sauce was my absolute favorite thing I had and was a 15/10. The chicharron was crunchy and delicious, served with the pickles onions. The pastel had great flavor to it, but was cold when we hit our table and my mom said: "Si me dan pasteles, dénmelos calientes, Que pasteles fríos empachan la gente." Lol For our entrees, my husband was so excited to try the sancocho. My grandma used to make it but I've never had it out. He got the whole olla & was incredible! I enjoyed the mofongo de camarones which came with this delicious garlic sauce with pieces of sliced garlic. My mofongo was absolutely amazing! Last, my mom tried the Mamposteao Taino which contained arroz mamposteo (describes the style of rice), chicahrrones, pasteles and yuca. To seal the deal, for dessert we enjoyed my birthday flan, tiramisu and cafe con leche. All in all, I had the most incredible experience! The staff was welcoming, friendly, and attentive, the food was spot on and made me think of home. I also forgot to mention the delicious drinks we had, as well! Only downsides were the fact that the pasteles - both times, in our appetizer and in my mom's meal were cold & the light in the restaurant also was flickering throughout the night for some reason. But aside from that, Bistro Taino is an amazing, beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, authentic Puerto Rican restaurant in the heart of Bogota, NJ. Nice seating areas and very friendly service. The food is outstanding, everything we ate was absolutely delicious. It doesn't surprise me because this place is affiliated with Casual Havana from New Milford which is one of my favorite Cuban spots. The plates were so tastefully served and the drinks are GREAT! I had a drink made with Espolon Tequila that was spicy as heck but really delicious! The alcapurias and the bacalaitos are made thin which makes them more crispy, they were so well made I was so happy to try them. They reminded me of my grandmothers. I had the Mofongo with Chicharron and they were so good. I am so glad to have such a good Puerto Rican restaurant in the area, this place is authentic and good. So I decided to go for dinner Well- I ordered the whole red snapper fried to perfection with a side salad of avocado fresh lettuce cucumber red onions just delicious. I also had a yummy drink call pero something can't remember the name my apologies. We shared an plater of appetizers fried tostones de plana, Bacalaitos, Alcapurrias. We found this cute spot nearby and were able to come in just in time for happy hour! Bistro Taino has a parking lot which is super convenient, since the restaurant is on a busy street. Our bartender was very nice and recommended the Piña colada, hubby loved it. I tried their margaritas: the guava was slightly sweet and refreshing. We shared a variety of tapas including alcapurrias (plantain and root vegetable fritters stuffed with saucy ground beef and sauteed blue crab), sorullitos, which are crispy corn sticks, and of course, chicharron, which is twice-cooked, crispy pork belly. Hubby loved the chicharron so much we ended up getting another order of it! Our server recommended the Tostones Rellenos de Bistec, which are crispy plantain cups filled with petite filet and onions, and it was absolutely delicious and filling. Bistro Taino! My only Complaint would be that they took long for the entrees to come out but you could feel the freshness in everything you tasted. Drinks were cute and stylish and had the perfect Blend of alcohol and cocktail mixture. The rice on these plates was cooked to perfection not mushy or burnt. I have had mofongo not as dry but they added a good amount of sauce to loosen it up. Overall I enjoyed the food and would gladly come back to try other options. It felt like we were in PR. Salsa was playing. Absolutely love the vibe. Buscando Guayaba & Pina Colada definitely gave us the Island vibe. Pasteles and Bacalaito were delicious. Hubby thought the bacalaito were too thin, personally I preferred it. It was like Chinese Scallion pancake thickness which I preferred. When it's thicker it taste drier. Asopao de Camarones so much flavor in each bite loved it. I forgot the name on the specials menu, but it's Rice with Beans and Bacon, Chicharrones, Alcapurria, Fried Yuca and Pasteles all on one plate. Everything was delicious. The food was amazing. my family of 5 enjoyed the food from the empanadas to the churrasco. My 5 year old got chicken nuggets with fries and she was obsessed. We also ordered empanadas and bistec and it was all so delicious. I had a piña colada and it was good too. I will definitely be back. Decided to come for lunch on 8/16. I had called ahead as the website suggested since it was a Sunday and I asked if I needed reservations and they said yes and offered me over an hour after our desired time. We ended up arriving early around 2 and it was empty. Maybe they were short staffed? When we arrived there were girls at the front dressed in black. I assume they're hostesses but I wouldn't know since we weren't greeted, weren't told to follow her to our table. One girl told the other where to bring us and she just started walking, so we followed. We were a group of 5 who sat upstairs. Our server didn't introduce herself or greet us, she didn't even smile at us. She asked us what kind of water we wanted and walked away. When she took our order she was extremely cold and one again just walked away. Zero pleasantries. The food came out all at different times, we were waiting on the last person's meal for over ten mins so I asked the server if she could check on it and she said "it's coming" and walked back to stand by the POS system. We all looked at each other and thought maybe she doesn't speak English, we had no idea because she literally did not speak to us. So we switched to Spanish to see if it was a language barrier, nope. We asked for a side of tostones and never got them. We brought it to her attention and she said she would cancel them no sorry, no let me check. We ordered cafe con leche and she came back ten mins after ordering to let us know their machine was broken and we couldn't get warm milk. She brought one small cold milk for all of us. We asked for more and she once again silent and just walked away. This is a full service resturant and bar, you're telling me you're unable to warm up milk? After asking for more milk since 3 of us had ordered cafe con leche, the server just dropped the check off and walked away. Not a single word. When we left we said goodbye to the young ladies in the front, as they didn't even make eye contact as we were exciting the restaurant and arms length away from them. As a Puerto Rican bringing family from LA I wish it was a warmer experience. Visited Bistro Taino for happy hour on a weekday. It's a cool restaurant, with lively and colorful decorations and Spanish music playing in the background. We sat at the bar and were given menus. Since it was happy hour, we ordered a pina colada, strawberry margarita, sorullitos, chicarrone, and the alcapurrias. The alcapurrias came in chicken, beef, and crab. They were all good, but my favorite was the crab. The chicarrone portion was a bit small, but it was seasoned well, crispy, and still juicy. We asked for multiple appetizers and they created a platter, but unfortunately we were charged per order separately . The sorullos, the crab empanadas, the bacalitos, and the alcapurrias were good. The Masitas were soft and cooked nicely with a crunch on the outside. The Mofongo's were good too. The steaks had great flavor. The Pollo jibaro was top-tier . The crunch outside of the chicken on the dish was amazing. The house dressing on the salads tasted so good. The desserts had very good flavoring and wasn't too loose. It had great coconut flavor. Cons: the fact that they don't have a sampler for appetizers. The mini Pasteles had no flavor with a lot of fatty meat. I'm a big arroz con gandules lover and sadly this one disappointed. The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic--truly a taste of Puerto Rico. I also enjoyed a piña colada, which was delicious, though on the smaller side. This past Saturday night, it was getting late for dinner (past 2000 hours) and my wife and I were getting hungry. We felt like eating LatinX food, so right away we thought of the town of Passaic. We tried finding eateries where it'll still be opened by the time we got there, but very few were staying opened past 2100 hours or if they were opened past 2100, these places became a lounge type of establishment with super loud music and drunk patrons, which wasn't our scene. As luck would have it, Google stated that Bistro Taíno's kitchen was closing at 2200, and when I called to verify this, I was told that the last meal would be served by 2130. I drove to Bistro Taíno as fast as I could legally do so. We got there by 2040. We were lead to our seats. The place has a nice island decor, with lots of Puerto Rican phrases and imageries. Sabrina was our server, she's jovial, friendly and helpful. For drinks my wife got a Virgin Piña Colada, I got me a Buscando Guayaba (Toasted Coconut infused with Buchanan's scotch, guava, lime & aromatic Vanilla). My wife enjoyed her Virgin Colada and I enjoyed my Guava drink, my wife complained that my Guava drink had too much alcohol (this coming from a person that doesn't drink alcohol lol) I explained to her that it's fantastic that they didn't skimp on the liquor. Our appetizers were: Bacalaitos (Cod fish fritters) & Pastel en Hoja (Green banana with pork wrapped in plantain leaf). The Bacalaitos were fried very thin, barely tasted any Cod. On the other hand, the Pastel was tasty, full of pork. For entrees she ordered the Asopaó de Camarones (soupy rice & shrimp), I got me the Rice/Beans (mixed) with Chicharrón (fried pork cubes), Alcapurria (fried green banana, yautía with ground beef) & pastel en hoja. My dish was scrumptious, the rice/beans combo was full of flavor, the Alcapurria was perfectly fried with a good amount of ground beef, and of course, the pastel en hoja was on-point! We were definitely very glad that the other restaurants were either closing or turned into a sort of disco club/lounge; otherwise, we would have never been able to have found nor tried this place. This is our second time at Bistro Taino and we have truly enjoyed it. In particular it's live music which they had on a Friday. You have to try the pernil, and alcapurria or ceviche and don't forget Mofongo. I had the bifongo (a mix of green and sweet plantains) with a fried fish and trust me, it was super delicious. My friend chose Bistro Taino for a Thursday dinner outing. We walked into a vibrant restaurant, with fun and classy decor. Staff were excellent, host and waitress were polite and patient. We selected alcapurrias, bacalaoitos, and pasteles for appetizers. All three were delicious but the alcapurrias were our favorite, somewhat similar to an empanada but the different shell made it delicious in its own way. The delicious garlic dipping sauce didn't hurt either. For an entree, we shared the bifongo (mofongo with the addition of sweet plantain) with chicharones. Both were the best version I've had. The bifongo was perfectly cooked and the chicharones hit the perfect texture. Sometimes chicharones can be over fried and become chewy, these are perfectly fried and you can still see that they started with a quality piece of pork belly. The entree came with a very tasty side salad with perfectly ripe avocado. The dish was plated elegantly. The glasses, cutlery, and everything else were elegant as well! We shared two excellent desserts, tres leches cake that was better than most I've had and an excellent pudding that went very well with its cinnamon garnish. Washed that all down with an excellent cup of espresso! Bistro Taino is an excellent restaurant, I look forward to returning. Have to also mention, the prices are very reasonable for the quality they are delivering.
