Ordered from this place via GrubHub and I'm glad to say this fixed my fried chicken craving! The chicken was perfectly crisp, the meat was juicy and the seasoning was simple and done well. We also tried the Mac and Cheese and Coleslaw--the Mac and cheese was not good at all but I guess that can be hit or miss (bland sauce, overcooked shells); and the Coleslaw was decent. I went from being delighted with this place to feeling absolutely disgusted. My spouse and I used to order food from Chicken Delight regularly, until the following ugly scenario took place... One evening, I had a $100 bill, intending to use it for dinner for myself and my partner. So I ordered $30 worth of food through GrubHub. Once the Chicken Delight delivery person (whom I had never seen before) arrived, I handed him the $100, asked him to keep $35 and give me $65 back as change. He proceeded to tell me how he didn't have change for $100. I had specifically put in a request for change from $100 in my delivery instructions, which I kindly pointed out. That's where things started to get awkward. The delivery person kept staring at my chest/cleavage, adjusting himself and saying things like "So what would you like to do about this? Let's figure something out." (What did this guy think this was, the beginning of a bad porn movie plot?) I told him that he could stop by the local deli which is a few blocks away and break the $100 down or take the bill to his manager, make sure that it's legit and come back with change later or even tomorrow. He kept insisting that he couldn't do either of those things and asking if we could figure "something else out" about 3 or 4 times. I politely but sternly told him that he should get his manager on the phone, but he declined. At this point, I was really creeped out. All I wanted was to get this disturbing individual away from my home and myself. I asked how much money he had to give me as change. $59. Ok. I said that I'd just take that and he can keep $41 for the food. That's when he nonchalantly said "how about you keep the hundred, lift your shirt and show me your boobs?" Really? REALLY?! I told him that I was married and his behavior was extremely inappropriate while proceeding to close the door. To my surprise he went "Oh? Is that so?" and tried to push the door back, which resulted in having it slammed in his face before I double-locked it. (Meanwhile, my professionally trained 65 lbs. dog was right next to me, so I don't know what that man was even thinking.) But this story get even worse. Next, I called Chicken Delight's manager (who failed to introduce himself on the phone.) I was still shaken, but politely and rather calmly informed him about what had just taken place. I explained that we ordered food from their establishment all the time and how this had taken me by surprise, because we never had any issues before. The manager practically laughed over the phone and said: "I find this very hard to believe. I've known him since he was a kid." I did my best to explain to him that I was not looking for any drama or attention and weren't even requesting a discount, refund or anything like that. So I had absolutely no reason to make any of this up. He started to argue with me about how good of a "kid" the delivery person is and how they ignore requests to bring change for $100 bills because "it says that on every order." That makes zero sense. We've had delivery people, including ones who work for Chicken Delight give us change plenty of times before. But if it's such a big problem, how about this? - Add a note that says "restaurant does not accept bills larger than $20." It's not that hard. - Alternatively, after an order gets placed with a request to break $100, call your customer and tell them that you aren't able/willing to fulfill it. - Refrain from hiring creepy delivery people who attempt to sexually harass females in their homes. This one is a no-brainer. So the manager is just as big of a pervert as the delivery person. Good to know. Order from this place at your own risk. Do so if you are a female who enjoys feeling objectified or unsafe in her home thanks to creepy deliver personnel and a manager acting like a pig. Please note: nothing remotely similar had ever happened to me in over a decade of residing in this area and ordering food for delivery. read more

Let's just say the only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is because I have only done delivery. I ordered online which I feel like usually has awful service, but this place was amazing! I ordered for 4 people. I got two 5 piece lunch specials, one 3 piece lunch special, two chicken legs, a corn on the cob, and 2 cheese cakes and the total was only 40 bucks!! Their delivery fee is only 1.25. About 10-15 min after I ordered a lady called me to tell me they didn't have one of the drinks I had ordered with the lunch special. The food showed up about a half hour after I ordered and was still steaming! The delivery guy was very kind and waited for me to walk down to open the door for him. Once I bit into the chicken I was greeted by the perfect amount of crispy mixed with extremely moist chicken. The Mac and Cheese was exceptionally good and the corn on the cob was the perfect amount of buttery goodness. And from what I heard about the potato salad it was awesome. Also their honey mustard was way above average. We got 4 lemonades (which are their own restaurant lemonade) and it was delicious. Don't get me started on the cheese cake.... Really, really good fried chicken. Tender, juicy meat and crispy, crunchy, lightly breaded skin. It actually tastes fresh, and not frozen which can be hard for a fast food place. And it has good flavor, simple, slightly salty, not overpowering. It tastes like chicken, real good chicken, not some processed food pumped with artificial flavors and over cooked or over seasoned. So if you want good chicken, come here. They would get 5 stars for their chicken, but they have other things on the menu. I mean, of course we need sides right? Well their sides range from "Pretty Tasty" like their crispy, light, fresh, crinkle cut fries and real, whole, flavorful onion rings (no minced onions here!) to "I'll Pass" like their pasty, bland mashed potatoes and too thick, over cooked mac&cheese. This would easily be 5 Star review if not for two things: 1. As many reviews have stated, the sides are "meh." I tried the french fries and the mashed potatoes and neither one really did it for me. 2. I ordered a "Chicken Sandwich" to go for later and it wasn't what I expected. When I order a chicken sandwich, I expect a round chicken filet on a bun. This was three chicken tenders on 4 non-pulled-apart dinner rolls as the "bun". Im never disappointed with their food. 9/10 times i get food delivered from here. I never wait more than 45 minutes. Their chicken is ALWAYS juicy and tender. We always go with fried. My favorite sides are their slaw, macaroni salad and corn nuggets. Not a fan of their mashed potatoes but i know people who love it. The chicken here is actually shockingly good. When I say shockingly, it is because the actual restaurant is absolutely disgusting... I've been there to pick up food a couple of times and just can't believe they're able to pass inspection with the way their kitchen looks. It makes you wonder when, for example, you ask for blue cheese how long it's been in the fridge or if they even pay attention to that. I have had the chicken tenders as well as the mozzerella sticks and both were good. Nice flavor, seasoned appropriately, chicken was juicy. We did a while back try the mashed potatoes but you may as well skip those as they seem to be from a box. Not a good flavor nor consistency. I'm not in Jersey much, and Chicken Delight is the reason why this makes me sad. The chicken is SO GOOD. So much better than KFC.. pretty on par with Popeyes. Even if it's not eaten right away. Usually, fried chicken can get really soggy if it's not eaten straight away, but Chicken Delight fared well. The chicken was saltier than most, but not in a bad way. One thing Chicken Delight has over Popeyes and KFC and all those other fried chicken places is their little corn balls.
