The food here is consistently good ! Always flavorful and moist chicken and ribs. The rice is well seasoned and that sauce is so good. Highly recommend read more

The lomo Saltado is good. You can tell it's half Asian/Chinese because the beef tastes like it's been velveted. Super soft to eat, sauce wasn't over bearing on the fries, onions, and tomatoes. And the white rice helps buffer. If you want a great lomo Saltado, go here. If you want the best, then elsewhere. I will admit the people were friendly even with my broken Spanish and the inside felt warm and nice to eat in. Could be cleaner but definitely not dirty. The one Asian lady I saw threw me off with how fluent her Spanish was. It makes me think she grew up speaking Spanish instead of whatever Asian ethnicity she is. I will come back for other dishes for sure! read more

Ordered: Lomo Saltado Combination (~$13): served with white rice & beans Combination #2 - 4pc Chicken with Fries (~$12) Aya's take: Chic King is a no frills Peruvian spot in Union City worth trying! We got the 4pc Chicken with Fries which was super tender and well-seasoned. The skin on the outside was golden brown and just loaded with flavor. The Fries look pretty basic but were actually super addicting. The star of this dish was actually their homemade hot sauce. I could put that on literally anything. It was super aromatic and fresh with a slight kick; it added so much flavor to the chicken. The Lomo Saltado is one of my favorite Peruvian dishes and this one was good but not the best I've had. The price is unbeatable for the portion you get. The steak was mostly tender but some bits were chewy. The fires were soggy despite us eating it right away. I also didn't like that the beans were just put on top of everything. It would've been better if they were all to one side of the plate, but I would actually suggest not getting the beans if you get this. There's already enough flavor and ingredients here that it really doesn't add anything. Definitely recommend giving it a try! read more

I've read many reviews regarding great seasoning. I couldn't rate the seasoning because all I tasted was grease. THIS PLACE IS A GREASE PIT. Staff seems like they would prefer you don't show up at all. They tend to be abrasive with attitude. White Castle has better ambiance and aroma. You leave with your clothes smelling like you work there. There are better rotisserie chicken places within a few minutes drive. Try it if your idea of seasoning is flavored grease. Don't forget your good supply of TUMS. Research and do better. read more

Following up on my review, I've tried their Lomo Saltado twice for lunch already and it's great! Awesome portion, soft sautéed beef pieces perfect bite sized, their sauce is delicious as well! Definitely give this place a try even though I would not sit down here because it feels like a fast food joint, their takeout menu is perfect for a work day lunch! The servers are not the friendliest either, that why I'll stick to take out! read more

Best lomo I've ever had. Steak was amazing and tender. I've never finished an entire serving...and here I did. Casual dining and got there at 9. They close at 10...but they already closed the dining section to clean up. That's the only reason I took away a star. If you want to eat in make sure to give plenty of time before closing. read more

Not the same as when I first went here in 2018. The sauce back then was elite. Now it seems watered down. The Chicken, fried rice, and ribs remain the same. Lo Mein was oily AF. Prices increased 37% in 6 years. I wish they actually served ribs but instead it was chopped rib tips (the cheap section of the spare ribs). Sadly, probably our last visit to this iconic Union City spot. Service was a bit aggro, but they noticed I don't play that so the cashier wisely changed their tune. read more

This is my go to spot for pollo saltado. The portion sizes are reasonable. The prices have slowly crept up from the time I started coming. The chicken is well cooked and well paired with the French fries and tomatoes. The best is the sauce on the side. It adds the flair to the dish. It separates it from all the other Peruvian places I've been too. They used to keep a bottle on the table but now you have to ask for more. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area! read more

I've come to this location for as long as I can remember. I honestly have nothing to say about this place ... besides the fact that parking on Bergenline sucks but I won't let that affect my review for this gem. Great prices Great portion sizes Great rotisserie chicken Great fried rice Great green hot sauce! Just simply GREAT! I mean it... I drive 20 minutes just to have it. read more

The chicken is USUALLY pretty fresh and seasoned well. Unless you're going towards the end of the night. And the ribs are top notch. They are my go to spot for Peruvian chicken. read more

This review is on the food not the decor, like some do on yelp . This is more of a mom and pop restaurant . I wouldn't take a date for a first or 2nd date however , The food is excellent ! Chicken ( Peruvian style ) was moist and juicy with full of flavor The tostones (fried green bananas) were perfectly made . If you want rotisserie chicken at its finest then come here - The price is unbeatable for the quality of food you will receive . The decor; basic nothing special , clean establishment Friendly staff Definitely will try other items on the menu read more

Hands down one of the best restaurants on Bergenline! Seriously, this place is so good. The chicken is among the best I've tried, ribs are amazing & the fried rice is mouthwatering. They also make a really good hot sauce that you can't skip! Place is CASH ONLY so plan accordingly!! read more

So it looks like they have increased their prices by about 25-30%. 6 pcs chicken w/tax comes to about $12. (used to be $8+). Do remember this is a cash only place Might not go as often as before but the rotisserie chicken is still tasty. read more

Not bad for a quick lunch or for those days that you don't want to cook. A mix of Chinese and peruvian that will impress you with their simpleness but lots of flavor. The chicken is very well seasoned, fall of the bones and the crunchy skin is to die for. My husband loves the fried rice, I usually prefer to go with white rice. Their home made hot sauce is garlicky and just the right amount of kick. Easily one of the best, I have eaten with everything imaginable. Buy an extra side of it and eat it with eggs, sandwiches, you name it. The side salad is bland and sad but we don't go there for the salad. They have ribs as well but never tried it. read more

Was in the area for night and wanted to grab a bite to eat. This place popped up and once they mentioned Peruvian I was sold. So I absolutely love Peruvian Food. So we went and ordered our food, but to my surprise they ONLY accept cash! Highly annoying. I feel like places that do this should definitely have this all over their website or somewhere visual to know ahead of time. Good thing there was a bank close by, but the food was alright. I don't remember loving it, but we were hungry so it served its purpose. This was a spur of the moment day and I'm sure I won't be back, but if you'd like a quick bite this isn't a bad place to go actually. They were really nice and friendly. Most did nit really speak English except one person so the communication was a bit frustrating. read more

Coming here as for mommy and me quality time, best lunch i have ever had. The fillet was well cooked and the coating on it was perfect. The portion was fairly which got us both so full. My mothers plate was half chicken and vegetable rice and salad that comes with it. It was juicy, well cooked not too burnt unlike other places where its half burnt yuck! Money well spent $25 for our lunch drinks included. I like the hispanic/asian cuisine.twist to this place. Will definitely come back read more

This is my favorite spot. The interior is nothing fancy and It's cash only. The food is FANTASTIC. Any time I come in it's consistently scrumptious! The chicken is juicy and seasoned to perfection. The fried rice is delicious and the ribs are finger licking goooood! They have a spicy sauce that has a nice kick. For such an unassuming little spot, it delivers phenomenal food each and every time. read more

Was in the mood for Peruvian food. Decided to check Yelp for some suggestions and Chic King came up. The restaurant is located on Bergenline Ave, near 42nd street. As with all of the shops on Bergenline Ave., parking is difficult to come by. But luckily, I went on a Sunday and I was able to find parking on an adjacent street very easily. Seeing such good reviews for this place, I had to try it. I followed Yelper's advice and I tried the #7 combo, which includes rotisserie chicken, ribs, pork fried rice, and a salad. I substituted roast pork fried rice with vegetable fried rice, no problem. I also tried an Inca kola. The food portions here are very generous. The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful. The homemade hot sauce paired well with it. The ribs and fried rice was just okay in taste, but very filling. Chic King is very reasonably priced and they offer alot of different combos. I'll be back soon for the chicken, for sure. read more

Great place to grab a quick bite. We called for a pickup order and food was ready when we showed up 10 mins later. The roast chicken is good! not so much for their sides (roast pork fried rice/ french fries). But for what it cost, totally worth it. Will definitely be back ! read more

This place came highly recommended from a couple of good friends and really proves that you can't judge a book by its cover. From the outside this looked like your typical Spanish/Chinese fast food restaurant but man was I blown away by their food. I ordered the chicken and rib combo and was treated to fall off the bone moist Peruvian chicken and some pretty good ribs to go along with it. Even the pork fried rice had more flavor than some Chinese takeout restaurants that I go to. To top it off is the yellow sauce that is provided with the food. This is what truly separates this place from the other Spanish and rotisserie chicken places that I have gone to in New Jersey. Although the place was a little bit dirty and doesn't have THAT much variety (only have chicken, ribs, a couple of other dishes, and a bunch of appetizers), what other place can you eat good food, buy sunglasses, and buy bootleg dvd's all in one place? Yeah, that's what I thought... read more

The hubs and I were walking down the busy street almost hangry and looking for a quick dinner fix. We walked into the restaurant and immediately caught a whiff of greasy BBQ goodness. Aware of the history of huge portions in this neighborhood, we decided to share Combination #7 (2pc chicken, small ribs over pork fried rice, and salad). We also added in a side of fried sweet bananas. Our order was taken by a serious-faced man behind the counter with limited English. Cash only, he informed me. Minutes later, our transaction was done and we headed to the seating area to wait for our food. The food arrived almost immediately and the portions were huge! Thank goodness we were sharing! The chicken was well-marinated and tender. It went amazing with their homemade tangy hot sauce. The pork ribs were a tad fatty but very flavorful. The pork fried rice was no different than the ones you'd get in New York's Chinatown. Each bite of the golden fried banana delivered a punch of sweet caramelized gooeyness. The amount we ordered was just right for the two of us. All in all, the whole meal hit the spot though all that greasiness left me with a strong craving for fresh fruit later. Definitely a great no fuss, fast food option. Will return! read more

One of the best rotisserie chicken I have ever tasted. Their hot sauce is one of a kind and can't compare. I've been going to this place since I was a child. Quick service and a decent menu like bbq ribs, caldo de menudencia, fried rice and others. Since the pandemic I am fully aware business were affected greatly but I must admit their whole chicken going from $10-almost $20 is a bit outrageous for chicken only. It makes me think twice before coming here for my family if 4. read more
