Half rotisserie chicken, Moro negro (rice), potato salad, $11
    Rich O.

Straight to the point, home style, no frills Dominican food spot. I thought this was a take out only place but there are a few tables towards the back of the restaurant if you want to dine in. Pros: Large portions, authentic Caribbean flavors, lots of selections (rotisserie chicken, pernil, other proteins), lots of side options (three different types of rice, potato salad, plantains), very affordable prices (half a rotisserie chicken + rice + potato salad = $11) Cons: Location is a bit small, "basic" aesthetic decor, not good for dates, no pastelitos (Dominican style empanadas)

Here is the extra salty Fried chicken and rice

Not sure why people rate this 5 stars but I feel 1.7-2 stars is accurate. They must be friends or relatives. Let me start by saying they do NOT accept debit cards unless you spend over $10 and there is NO signage stating this, however there is an ATM inside. SCAM! Who puts an ATM inside a restaurant dining area? They inform you "cash only" if under $10 after your food is prepared and while you're at the register waiting to pay. Second, the fried chicken was so hard it was inedible. I had to peel all of the skin and batter off and left with scraps. Maybe the chicken was old and refried? Third, the chicken was so salty and inconsistent, every other bite put me in sodium shock and my heart is still pounding from what feels like a blood pressure spike. The staff was friendly, it's not their fault but I will not return nor recommend!

Best Dominican food in town! Not only is John's cheap, it is insanely tasty! I get mangu con tres golpes (mashed plantain with fried salami, fried cheese, fried egg, and onions) maybe twice a month, sometimes more if the craving hits. Their arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) is so good that you can eat it by itself without even having to have a meat side dish. Their rotisserie chicken is really juice and flavorful, but make sure you get it with the pickled onions because eating the chicken without it is an injustice. Their fried chicken is extra greasy, which I normally would like, but since the rotisserie chicken is really good, I don't mind going for the healthier option. One unexpected bonus from John's is their ceviche. Seafood goodness. It is not too sour or too sweet. It is ceviche perfection. Definitely a must-try. The ladies that work there are very friendly. My dad only knows the word "tostado" in Spanish because he is a fried food fanatic, yet the ladies are patient enough to fulfill his order while keeping a smile on their face. I actually think they get a kick out of him trying to explain his order. Having John's around is great. Whenever you're looking for good and cheap food, John's is the way to go!

    Fried chicken onions and Moro

The fried chicken taste like it's been fried in old oil u can taste it as well. The picture says it all how are you known for the best fried chicken but look at what you are selling the gentlemen took the chicken out the air fryer and did not even pat the oil off of it. The rice barely has any flavor..

Where do I begin. I've been going to John's fried chicken for a minute now. One of my college best friends took me here to eat. They're mostly knows for their chicken but I've never had a bad thing there. Pro tip ask for onions when you get the chicken it goes perfectly! The portions are generous so come hungry!

Shredded pork with rice and beans

This is my new favorite spot! The shredded pork with rice and beans is my absolute favorite. I haven't tried anything else but I doubt it can top that pork. I wish they had this in my town. I thought the shredded pork was a traditional Latino meal but I live in a Brazilian neighborhood with many restaurants and NONE of them make this delicious shredded pork. They act like they don't know what it is. It's very upsetting but luckily I can at least travel to get it. Everything tasted so fresh and had that home cooked feeling. For all the food they give you the price is excellent. I will be back very soon

The service was attentive from the very beginning, and they immediately took care of us and made the entire experience feel personal and genuine. Once the food came out, every single dish was absolutely delicious. You can truly tell that Juana takes pride in what she does and prepares every meal with care and love for her customers. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, especially the mangu, Cuban sandwich and Rabo - which was amazing! And the desserts were absolutely outstanding -- we left & took home habichuela con dulce and she shared some of her special dessert with us to try and enjoy! My grandson took it lol. It's the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Her son was also so personable and kind, which made the experience even more memorable for my entire family. It's rare to find a place that combines amazing food with such heartfelt hospitality. We had an amazing time and will absolutely return whenever we're back in the New Jersey area. Thank you, Juana and son, for the incredible food, kindness, and unforgettable experience!

There was also a DJ playing and the music was really good, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not have a parking lot, so street parking is the only option. The prices are also on the higher side, but I was still open to seeing if the experience would be worth it. We ordered the picadera Dominicana and the waiter asked if we wanted guacamole. At no point did she mention that it would be an extra charge, so we said yes assuming it was part of the dish. We also ordered a passion fruit sangria pitcher, which was delicious and a good size for sharing. The picadera itself was good and we enjoyed the flavors. Unfortunately, the experience changed when the bill came. Since we were splitting the bill, they charged the appetizer as two separate portions, which ended up costing more. On top of that, we were charged $13 for a very small cup of guacamole, which they labeled on the receipt as "decorative guac" (it was presented as a Dominican flag in the middle). For just an appetizer and a pitcher of sangria, our total came out to $70. What really left a bad impression was when the server brought the bill back and pointed out where the tip section was, as if we didn't know how to read or weren't planning to tip. That felt unnecessary and a bit rude. It's unfortunate because the food and atmosphere had potential, and I likely would have given this place a much better rating if the lack of transparency about the guacamole charge and the comment about the tip hadn't happened.

Franklin, the owner, was very nice and steered me to some great choices. I got the beef and cheese and the beef chimichurri, both outstanding. I am saving my guava and cheese one for later but it also looks good. While the empanadas were delicious, the generous portions of sauce complemented quite nicely and kicked it up to another flavor level. The pink Siracha is creamy with a kick. The chimichurri sauce is very fresh with lots of garlic. You can pick up to three empanada and two sauce flavors for the meal. The store looks empty but if the door is open, walk in and someone will be out from the back. I had dogs in the car so i waited outside and Franklin was nice enough to bring the order out, as well as with my sunglasses which i had left on the counter.
