    Tres Golpes, Mangu Breakfast

We ordered breakfast from here and the food is amazing. The Dominican fried cheese is yummy!! The only draw back was Uber took awhile to deliver

Tres golpes con mangu (3 "hits", egg, cheese, salami. With mashed boiled plantains)
    Lee S.

Can't believe I never had tres golpes before. It's too damn good. My understanding is the literal meaning is "3 hits", which usually includes egg, salami, and fried cheese, BUT I think it is subject to change or dependent on the place. Then the mangu! My goodness the mangu. Honestly thought I wouldn't like it because it looks and sounds just eh on paper. Boy was I surprised. It tasted like they mashed it with garlic, shallots or something like that. And the red onion on top? Make no mistake, that's not nothing. That's slightly pickled and cuts through the plantain flavor very well. One of the best breakfasts / brunches I ever had in Union City. Definitely recommend, and definitely want to come back.

Ordered a tres golpes this morning and practically came with no mangu and a tiny egg, after waiting over an hour for the order. Gave no straws for the lemonade. Super disappointed.

This spot is a little hidden Dominican gem! I have been eating breakfast at Josefa's for years and I absolutely love it. I am truly dedicated to their mangu with the tres golpes (Fried egg, salami and fried cheese). They also have a small buffet with a good variety of food. The prices are reasonable for what you get, and everyone is friendly. I would definitely recommend trying their drinks! My favorite is their morir soñando.

Can't say this was a pleasant experience. My wife and I had a buffet special and a steak sandwich. They both were i tasteful food. The sandwich was dry, tasteless and cold ( its a hot sandwich on the menu) and it took about 20 min to get to our table. I was planning to get catering here for a part coming up but I'm glad I stopped in first. It was early afternoon, didn't expect this , it wasn't busy.

Ambiance is incredible, the service is fantastic.. since we stepped in till the moment we left the hospitality was priority, Fabiola was our bartender/ server, gave us great recommendations on food, we got the octopus and the goat cheese with mushrooms and we loved it, octopus was crispy on the outside and tender inside... I will definitely come back again!!! Desert was delicious too and perfectly matched with the chocolate martini!!! Thank you for the experience and hospitality!!!

However we soon realized how lucky we were to come here instead. I ordered the Lobster Paella and it was so fresh and delicious .. my husband ordered the steak and he thoroughly enjoyed his steak and mashed potatoes. We also ordered a pitcher of mango sangria which was tasty with a nice kick to it! We ended up ordering chocolate cake and ice cream for dessert which we also truly enjoyed. The service was very attentive and prompt .. making sure everyone was satisfied at their tables and it was an ambiance that transported you to feeling like you are in another country .. perfect for families, date night's or large groups that want a nice ambience and delicious food & drinks .. perfect lighting (not too light or too dark) This was a very nice meal with plentiful portions at a warm and inviting restaurant on a Saturday night .. definitely recommend!

Being honest, the food here is about three-star-worthy…read more But the prices. The prices are from 2010, and as long as Chango keeps its menu at those prices, I'm going to keep loving them. Christ on a chopstick, I haven't seen an $8 sandwich since I was in grad school (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth)! We started with the Tamal Cubano, which was fantastically delicious, though the accompanying sauce wasn't hot at all. A shame, because it was well-flavored--just needed a lot more capsaicin. My Cubano was very well done, but barely had any pickle in it, which made me sad. I opted to add fries and wasn't sad about the small, thin ones I got (very McDonald's-shaped). However, the Pechuga de Pollo Adobada con Escabeche de Calabaza was a disappointment. The grilled chicken was drastically overcooked, probably because they used really lean breast meat. The accompanying Caribbean pumpkin was interesting, but too small. The other side of rice and beans was perfect, though--great bean texture and lots of savory flavor. With tax and tip included, our meal came out to $33. $33! You can't even get lunch for one person for that price at 90% of Manhattan restaurants south of Central Park. I could've cried with wonder at the bill. Time travel is real guys--at least financially. Just hop into El DeLorean and come to Chango.

We got tres leches for dessert and unfortunately it was still frozen and did not taste good. We let the waiter know and he quickly resolved. Recommend if you're looking for a cheap and quick lunch/dinner.

It feels warm, intimate, almost like you've stepped into someone's beautifully designed home rather than a restaurant. At some point you find yourself under the retractable roof, looking up at the stars in the middle of New York, which is kind of wild in the best way. The food was honestly next level. You can tell there's a real San Sebastián influence behind it. Everything felt precise but still full of flavor and personality. Every dish that came out just kept building on the last. The presentation was beautiful without trying too hard, and the flavors were the kind that make you pause for a second after a bite. Service was exactly what you want it to be. Super attentive, really knowledgeable, but still relaxed. Nothing felt forced or overdone. I also have to mention the cocktails because they deserve it. Whoever is behind the bar knows what they're doing. I had the "Comandante on Vacation" and it was one of those drinks you immediately want another of before you're even halfway through. What I didn't expect was how the energy evolves during the night. There's a DJ, but it's not in your face. It just slowly lifts the whole atmosphere and suddenly dinner turns into something a bit more alive without losing that elevated feel. It's just one of those places where everything works. The setting, the food, the service, the vibe all come together in a way that feels effortless. Definitely one of the more memorable dinners I've had in a while.
