Can't believe I never had tres golpes before. It's too damn good. My understanding is the literal meaning is "3 hits", which usually includes egg, salami, and fried cheese, BUT I think it is subject to change or dependent on the place. Then the mangu! My goodness the mangu. Honestly thought I wouldn't like it because it looks and sounds just eh on paper. Boy was I surprised. It tasted like they mashed it with garlic, shallots or something like that. And the red onion on top? Make no mistake, that's not nothing. That's slightly pickled and cuts through the plantain flavor very well. One of the best breakfasts / brunches I ever had in Union City. This spot is a little hidden Dominican gem! I have been eating breakfast at Josefa's for years and I absolutely love it. I am truly dedicated to their mangu with the tres golpes (Fried egg, salami and fried cheese). They also have a small buffet with a good variety of food. The prices are reasonable for what you get, and everyone is friendly. I would definitely recommend trying their drinks! My favorite is their morir soñando. read more

Can't say this was a pleasant experience. My wife and I had a buffet special and a steak sandwich. They both were i tasteful food. The sandwich was dry, tasteless and cold ( its a hot sandwich on the menu) and it took about 20 min to get to our table. They charged me $18 for three small pieces of rabo, their rice was hard and the beans were pure water. I'm so disappointed I paid so much money for a crappy meal! If your ever in the mood for a little a taste of Dominican Republic, Then look no further, this is the place to be, Any good Dominican /Caribbean restaurant MUST! Have good & fresh white rice and this place has the best. Their red beans are good as well but sometimes they can be a bit watered down and in need of a good dash of salt. All their meats (chicken, beef,steak, pork, goat) and of course "Longaniza" which is a domjican sausage which is crunchy and delicious is bomb as well (means good). For delivery or dining in it won't make a difference, Josefas restaurant is a very family friendly and very clean spot. Also, remember to try their Fresh Squeezed Orange juice it's good but know your forking over 4.50) for it . Their flan is very good as well, sometime the potatoe salad will come frozen and when it thaws, it will be very bland. Prices are very reasonable. I eat here every day, and will never stop going to Josefas. I love their food and you will too! read more
