But the server was so patient with me and guided me through. I just wanted eggs and potatoes and chorizo. With her help, I didn't get potatoes but I go beans. I didn't know I was getting rice with my breakfast but even that was cooked perfectly and I ate it with my beans. The salsa was so fresh and spicy, took the rest home! The salad was great and the dressing a nice accompany, but I didnt even need it. I was so happy guys. So happy seeing all this food in front of me and having it be sooooo good. I never eat at places like this, as I am from California and I have pretty high expectations. But I'm so glad I saw their reviews and gave it a shot. Happiness. Neighborhood gem! For starters, they have free 1-hour parking (with validation) right next door which is a huge perk! Second, they're cash only. Third, this is definitely a local spot and despite a slight language barrier, the staff were incredibly warm & friendly. We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This meal was so simple yet so satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out!

I arrived and went to the bar to provide my order, which took approximately 15 minutes to be finished for take out. Bar: The service at the bar was fantastic. My first time here ordering for my spouse and I and she explained the full menu, provided water while I was waiting. Patient, attentive. 10/10. No complaints in service. Inside: At 5:30 PM arrival seated areas were empty but the bar was at 50% capacity. I do remember walking at night time and this place is always busy or full. When entering you are greeted by the front lady for reservations. The ambience is fantastic, with great lighting and a structure that is clear where to go for bathroom, bar, back to your seat! The music being played, hispanic and Cuban music brought a great vibe. As someone who worked in Monterrey for over a year, it felt like I was culturally back. 10/10. Great location. Great ambience and lighting. Great music. Fantastic interior design with plenty of spacing Food: Amazing food. One appetizer with bananas I believe was simply outstanding. The braised pork we ate was sooooo tender and well cooked. Only thing, which does not deserve docking a score, is make sure you call or know beforehand if there are large parties or events going on. It is very noisy if that's not your vibe when those events are going on and they happen often here especially on weekends.

We sat outside right on the water with an incredible view of Manhattan. It was a little chilly, but we had jackets and were perfectly comfortable. The inside has a very lively, Miami-style atmosphere, but it was pretty busy with people filming and taking photos, so sitting outside was definitely the right choice for us--it felt much quieter and more relaxed. I'm expecting, so I asked about mocktails and was a little surprised that the options were basically a non-alcoholic piña colada or mojito. For a restaurant at this price point, I would have expected a more interesting mocktail selection. My husband did order a cocktail that he really enjoyed. We started with the lobster and shrimp tacos, which were probably my favorite thing of the night. They were absolutely delicious--I could have eaten five more! That said, $28 for three very small tacos felt a little steep. For my entrée, I had the Camarones al Ajillo ($36). The flavor was great, but there weren't many shrimp and mine were unfortunately a bit overcooked. I also found a hair on my food, which was obviously disappointing. My husband had the Paella Clasico, which was delicious and a much better portion. We also shared the Son Cubano fried rice, and that was AMAZING--another standout of the meal. Overall, you're definitely paying a premium for the beautiful waterfront location and atmosphere. We had some really delicious dishes, but between the portion sizes, pricing and a few issues with my entrée, I don't think the food quality consistently matched the price point. Still, the views are gorgeous and there were enough things we really enjoyed that I'm glad we tried it.

What an excellent spot!…read more I've been here a few times - both for just drinks and most recently for dinner. The vibes here are excellent - the space is beautifully decorated, clean, and the outdoor patio is gorgeous, especially in the summertime. The cocktails are all extremely creative and delicious (although I do think a little on the weak side). The last time I was here was for a birthday dinner. We were a large party of 8 women, and all the staff was very accommodating towards us. The food/drinks came out quickly, and they even gave my friend a big ol' birthday celebration complete with a firework candle and a light-up sign. The food is pretty decent - Spanish and Hispanic mostly, with a Caribbean flair. Standouts were the coconut shrimp (which came on a clothes hanger), the steak and tostones, and the ropa vieja. The only real downside of Don Coqui is the price of everything. The bill (with a 20% tip added for a large party) was just shy of 600 dollars, and this was for a table of appetizers and cocktails. Also, the valet parking for 15 dollars is wild, especially when there is a free lot available mere steps away. if you're feeling a little bougie, this is a great spot to grab a drink and get some great photos!

While there is valet parking at $15, we opted to park right outside the entrance in the Target parking lot. The location is truly special In the distance you can see the George Washington bridge and one feels like on vacation. When making reservations you can request an outdoor seat which is highly recommended if the weather is good. The only downside were the occasional jet skis buzzing close by. Also, the music outside was not as loud as inside and one can have a conversation without yelling. Enzo our server was very polite and attentive. Jay the manager came around to check on us a couple of times. The food ranged from ok to vey good. The rice in both entrees was a little dry and in need of a bit of seasoning. The dessert (coconut flan) was awesome in terms of presentation and taste. Despite the awesome location, good service, and generally good food, the bill was a little pricey for what we had. I would have given it another star. Even though it's located poor of the way, we will be back and recommend it.
