We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This is such a simple place with only two food items, a steak sandwich with or without cheese and onions. They have a selection of milkshakes as well. There are no frills inside the restaurant but they don't need it because the food is fantastic. The sandwich is layered with shaved steak, French fries and cheese and onions if you so choose (I recommend you add them!) I enjoyed every bite and the service was amazing as well. Pretty big miss from the Yelp hivemind on this one. Bergenline Ave in Union City / West New York is Cuban central - plethora of Cuban sandwich, coffee, and restaurants all within walking distance. I'd never heard of Dos Amigos before but popped in based on the good reviews. Inside it's little more than a couple of counters and a cashier. Everything is take out only and cash only. The menu is similarly limited - only pan con bistec (Cuban steak sandwich) in two sizes (small or large). Can come with or without cheese. The $10 large sandwich is very filling, but sadly the taste left lots to be desired. It was missing any semblance of Cuban influence. The thick french fries used to stuff the sandwich gave it a very mushy texture (a far cry from the traditional thin crispy potato sticks often used in Cuban sandwiches). The steak itself similarly brought nothing to the equation. I felt as if I were eating a generic cheese steak sandwich from a random food court in Oklahoma, and not a Cuban lunch spot in Hudson County NJ. From a pure value perspective it's an ok spot (especially the large sandwich). But I've had countless better pan con bistec sandwiches around here, so sadly can't recommend this spot. read more

It's important to note that one should come here with cash only as they do not accept cards. There are two sandwich options: the chico(small) or the grande (large) and they have the options to add or remove cheese and onions. The fruit or chocolate batidos(smoothies) options are really good too. It is possible to order a side of fries if you would like to go with that option as well. The prices are fair and worth the portion and quality of food you are getting. My usual order is a grande with a chocolate batido because the flavors compliment each other insanely well!
