We ordered ahead because we were hangry, and unpacked our food to eat inside. The older woman who…read moreworked in the kitchen (owner or not, she acts like it) made the whole visit. She regularly came out to check on people, asked if we wanted plates, then looked over our food and caught that my Jiu Jitsu sandwich was missing its (extra) chimichurri. She fixed it right away and told the kitchen about the miss. That kind of care is rare. Most sandwich spots treat the bread as an afterthought. Not here. The bread is exceptional, and it's the foundation for everything else. The Jiu Jitsu was great with that chimichurri, the Philly Special was excellent, and the tater tots were crispy and just right. Honestly, I'm kind of glad we don't live closer. We'd eat here way too much.

For many of us, a sandwich was the first meal we learned to make for ourselves. It is, after all,…read moreone of the most versatile, simple, and universally beloved foods we know, with countless variations to satisfy every palate, dietary restriction, and time of day. The origin of the word "sandwich" dates back to 1762 in England, when John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, asked for something he could eat without having to get up from his card game. A servant brought him a bit of cold meat between two pieces of bread, and voila--the word "sandwich" was born! People from nearly every culture around the world enjoy countless types of sandwiches. Referencing small, bite-sized finger sandwiches, or "little sandwiches," served as a party appetizer, we decided to stop at this off-the-beaten-path establishment on Old River Road in Edgewater for dinner. Upon entering as first-timers to Sandwichitos, we were greeted by one of the owners inside with a cozy, laid-back, and welcoming vibe with Instagram energy. We managed to get one of five tables inside for about 12 patrons with an open kitchen and two tables outside, weather permitting. Soon they'll be expanding to a much larger place. The menu wasn't huge and featured various sandwiches with the collision of Dominican and Italian cuisines. We decided on the Red Machine, Jiu-Jitsu Steak, where the meat is marinated for 2 days, Cheesy Bird, French Cuban, Regular and Sweet Potato Tots. Some of us have gotten the freshly made fruit shakes to wash down our meal. We sampled the various ordered sandwiches and found every bite was incredibly flavorful. Each dish was well seasoned and perfectly balanced without being overpowering. The meal was somewhat pricey, but one could easily split it between two people or another meal. Service moves quickly. The staff were warm and welcoming. We had an excellent dining experience.

It looks like a…read moresmall space in the front but it has more seating in tbe back and a small garden area where you can also dine in. Decor was nicely done. Menu options were different, I actually love it. We were seated immediately without reservations on a Saturday morning. We ordered the weekend brunch menu specials- potato with smoked salmon and the burger special. Both were delicious and flavorful! Parking-? there's municipal parking lot just a block away. Definitely my new fave spot in West New York, NJ!

There wasn't much room for our group of 5 and with the table on the left and a refrigerator near the door, we were pretty much squeezed in while waiting and trying to make room as others were trying to get by us. We had to wait outside and come back. The wait was about 30 minutes, which we didn't mind. Once we got seated, our server was friendly and the food was definitely worth the wait. The portions were pretty big too. The only downside was that my friend's burger was undercooked. She ordered it medium well, but it looked closer to medium rare, so she ended up not eating about half of it. I ordered the focaccia chicken sandwich, and it was delicious. The chicken was perfectly crispy and juicy. I also had the hibiscus oolong peach tea, which I really enjoyed because it wasn't overly sweet.

If you walk into Kikiriki expecting a culinary journey through the streets of Lima, you might want…read moreto turn around and check the sign again. Despite proudly branding itself as a Peruvian restaurant, the menu tells a completely different story. Aside from a few items with "Peruvian" hastily slapped onto the front of their names, the selection is a bit of an identity crisis. But if you can look past the cultural bait-and-switch, Kikiriki actually has a few things going for it--namely, your wallet's happiness. The Food The Star: Rotisserie Chicken Let's start with the absolute best reason to visit. The chicken is, without a doubt, the savior of this establishment. Whatever SPICES they are using hits all the right notes. It's deeply savory, incredibly juicy, and sports a perfectly crisped, seasoned skin. If you stick to a quarter or half chicken order, you're going to leave happy. The Sidekick: The Fries Unfortunately, every superhero needs a good sidekick, and this chicken is flying solo. The French fries are the definition of "bland." They lack crispiness, desperately need salt, and feel like a total afterthought. Pro-tip: drown them in hot sauce or ketchup which you need to provide yourself. The Value Where Kikiriki truly shines is the receipt. In a dining landscape where a basic combo meal can easily push past $20, Kikiriki keeps things refreshingly old-school. The prices are exceptionally good for the portion sizes you receive. You can get a massive plate of food that will easily feed you for two meals without breaking the bank. The Verdict Go for the chicken, stay for the low bill, but don't expect an authentic Peruvian feast. Kikiriki isn't going to win any authenticity awards, and their fry cook needs a lesson in seasoning. However, if you are looking for a cheap, filling, and genuinely delicious chicken dinner, it's well worth a visit. Just think of it more as a great neighborhood chicken joint rather than an international dining experience.

chicken is always on point and well priced, buy here once in a while but always satisfied.read more
