This place is a great spot to come to when you want some comfort food. I had the empanadas and it was delicious! The service is also great! Everyone was very friendly and attentive. The ambiance was also nice and loved the flower tree. Would definitely come back here again!

Great prices and amazing flavors! Already came back twice in the past month. Small space but easy to be seated for lunch on a weekday.

We had actually stumbled upon this restaurant as we came to find something also nearby. The place is pretty small and when we arrived there was one other couple there. We were brought lemon water and a menu that was on a tablet. We then placed our order. My partner got the carne guisada with a side of veggies and fries. I got the order of pernil with rice and beans, with a side of yuca frita. While waiting for our food a few more people walked in which then made the space feel extra small, the walkways are very narrow. It almost felt like there was no privacy or personal space. We got our food and I personally enjoyed what I ordered, especially the sauces they bring to your table. My partner on the other hand felt like his food was cold. He also mentioned that the food was okay overall. Nothing mind blowing. The food portion did feel like a lot, I had quite a bit of leftovers. I will note that the containers they gave us for our food were pretty small (I didn't ask if they had bigger sizes) and I was worried the food wouldn't fit, but it did- barely.

Delicious cuban food!! Got the ropa vieja with both black and yellow arroz and maduros. sooooo yum. I would opt for the black arroz over yellow when i go back. Service is so down to earth and accommodating. It's very very dark in here and there are maybe about 16 seats total in the whole place. Definitely would only ever go for parties of 1/2. food was better than the cuban imo

I was craving mofongo and my friend suggested this place around the block from hers. It was so good and hit the spot for me!! We walked in ~8pm on a Friday and there were a few tables open so we got to choose. The decor was fun and I really liked the wall tiles here. Service was fast! I got the Mofongo De Camarones and Yuca Frita - both were exactly what I wanted. There was so much food leftover I had enough to go for a late night snack and a leftover lunch the next day. Just a note that the mofongo got really hard the second day and took quite some microwaving to get soft, so definitely try to finish that the same day if you can. Next time I'm around, I'm gonna stop by again and check out the other items on their menu!

I love la casa! The food always tastes so fresh and authentic. I also love the fact that they'll make sangria with the wine you bring. We got the steak this time for the first time and it was perfectly grilled. The service is great and the food is exceptional.

The Guava Cheesecake is the best slice of cheesecake available in Hoboken

This restaurant has become a go-to for me since moving to Hoboken. I became a "regular" once I tried the Guava Cheesecake, what I think is the best damn slice of cheesecake available in town! My usual order includes fresh made-to-order iced coffee that never fails to wake me up, it's some of the strongest brew in town rivaling hip cold brew shops. The empanadas are home-made and a must-have before I go into work. There is a beautiful dining room with a vibrant and friendly atmosphere. They have lunch specials available with a variety of choices that change daily. I love coming out to eat with friends here since it's BYOB and they offer amazing sangria mix. The customer service is excellent, you will feel welcomed and taken care of every time. I have interacted with every staff member visiting frequently and everyone is always on their A-game.

I would have given this restaurant five stars if I were there only once. Second time my husband got food poisoning from some bad spicy mayonnaise from this place. He suffered from it for a week before getting back to himself. This place is very small, can probably fit 7 tables. If you are out there around 6 over the weekend, chances are you won't get a seat. So forget about it. You need to be there around 5, at least that's when the first time we went and we're able to be seated right away. Service is good. Servers are pretty friendly. The only thing I don't like is the spicy mayonnaise which causes somewhat a tremendously bad experience for my husband.

If you are a hungry person, like I am, I would strongly recommend you to go to this place immediately. After walking for an hour or so, in the cold, trying to find an apartment I came here with my friend. The place is warm and cozy, and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. You could access the menus on your tablet and they are pictures to each item as well. I ordered the Tostones and the salad and the vegetarian Mofongo my friend had the chicken plate. We also ordered the empanadas to go. I will definitely come back here again especially if I live in the area.

I visited this spot this afternoon with some friends. I had high hopes since I had been here about a year before. Service: The staff told us there was an hour wait ahead of us as soon as I asked for a table but no one else was outside. The server was also little snarky when she took our order (she did not take time to answer our questions about the menu and started cleaning up our dishes before we were done with our food). Food: Three of us got the pollo y camarones al aljillo, probably the only thing to get here. We were put off by the limited selection of the menu (many dishes were only served on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Pictured here are the fried calamari and churrasco y camarones. Overall, the food was tasty. The churrasco was a little expensive in my opinion and left us feeling taken advantage of. Ambiance: The restaurant itself has a charming look but it is very compact. I recommend coming here with a party no larger than four people. Takeout the pollo y camarones from this restaurant, the only saving grace here.

I'm guessing they sold a lot already that day as the chicken still had to cook for approximately 2 more hours at that point. With that, I opted for the pernil. It was flavorful but some pieces were slightly dry. I may have gotten the end of a batch, because the guy next to me also ordered pernil and all of the pieces looked juicy and were hot. The vibe inside is authentic Puerto Rican. They've got the checkered tablecloth along with the condiments on all tables. The place is small - wait to be seated if you're eating there or order at the counter if you placing an order to go. I also got arroz con gandules, black beans, tostones & a salad. Yes, I brought home leftovers. At the moment, they're selling bottles of coquito for the holidays. It's a little steep in my opinion, at $45 per bottle. Cash only. But, they will also accept Venmo & Zelle. I think there was a third option to electronically send money. A very affordable meal for sure. Without tip, my total came to just under $27. First, the customer service was excellent--the host was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The space itself is very small, about 9-10 tables total, but gave you that eating with your family vibe, talking at the table and listening to spanish music. The bathroom was clean but it had a shower, which was definitely... different. Now for the food. I ordered the fried red snapper with yellow rice and pigeon peas, salad and unfortunately it had no flavor at all. The rice was dry and tasted like there was no sofrito or seasoning, which was disappointing for a Puerto Rican spot. My sister's pork chops were actually very good--probably the highlight of the meal. They also don't serve alcohol, so I had a Coco Rico while my sister had water. Overall, while the service was great, the food didn't live up to the hype for me. I expected bold, authentic Puerto Rican flavors, and it just wasn't there. Also, I wish they offered plain Yellow Spanish Rice as well as white rice options. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't be returning. If you go, try the pork chops--that's your best bet. The sandwich is made with pernil, Swiss, pickled onions, and the chef's own special garlic mayo sauce. It was absolutely delicious!! Cocotazo also has freshly, homemade juices. We found Kiosko 787 while searching nearby options. We tried calling three times, but the phone would ring, play a greeting, and disconnect. Despite that, we decided to give it a try and arrived around 2:30 pm. The exterior was colorful and inviting, reminiscent of Old San Juan. Inside was smaller than expected but vibrant and cozy. The restaurant was empty except for one hostess on her phone. When we asked to dine in (party of five), she immediately asked if we had a reservation and told us reservations had to be made online. She explained they do not answer the phone as it's only for online orders and business information. After waiting a few minutes, she was able to seat us. Three people in our group had never tried Puerto Rican food, so we were excited to introduce them. We ordered drinks and the Picadera Sampler, which was excellent -- flavorful fried chicken chunks and delicious fried cheese. We finished the entire platter. For entrées, two of us ordered the Chuleta Kan Kan to share, and the other three also shared one, adding a mofongo as an extra side. The menu describes it as a "mega thick cut pork chop" and shows a large cut including belly and rib, which is why we chose to share. When the dishes arrived, the pork chops were normal-sized, thin, and nothing like the description or photo. We jokingly renamed them "Chuleta Can't Can't." The server dropped off the plates without knives or checking in and remained distracted on her phone. When we asked about the size, we were told the butcher sends different cuts. We asked about adding extra meat, but were told we would need to purchase another full entrée as they could not sell us a portion of meat, even when we asked if carne frita/pork chunks or a pork chop would be an option. The pork was thin, overcooked, and dry. The rice and pigeon peas were bland and heavy on tomato paste or sauce flavor. The mofongo, however, was moist and delicious with a garlicky butter sauce. Shortly after, another staff member brought out an additional pork chop that they "found in the kitchen," which was appreciated but also very dry. Given we were the only table (aside from one later customer), more proactive service and a heads-up about portion sizes would have helped manage expectations and given us the chance to order differently. The restaurant was also extremely warm. When we mentioned the heat, the response was dismissive. We really wanted this to be a great introduction to Puerto Rican cuisine for our friends. Unfortunately, the service and misleading entrée presentation fell short. The Picadera Sampler and mofongo were the only highlights and the reason for the 2-star rating.

Well, they're still open, but it seems like since the place isn't a moneymaker, it's no longer a priority. I've only been back a handful of times since then because they seem to be taking shortcuts in an effort to save dough. The arroz con gandules is mushy and flavorless; the chicharron are small and dry; the serving of beans is literally two teaspoons of beans and the rest of the (downsized) container is cooking liquid. Every time I go back hoping for a delicious meal, I'm sorely disappointed. Today I found a piece of raw chicken mixed into my vegetables. Turned my stomach immediately. Now I'm just hoping I don't end up with salmonella.

The line felt like a party with the guy on a scooter handing out 190 proof vodka to the guests. When you finally make your way into the truck be prepared to be greeted with warmth and a chunk of lechon right into your hand. Want to try the pulpo (octopus salad)? I hope you washed your hands because he will scoop a sample right into your palm. Chef Jimenez will tell you his life story while waving his machete and smoking a blunt. Nothing seems off limits here because you have somehow, in a matter of minutes, become nothing less than family. At $22 a plate, with rice and peas, a very generous serving of lechon and topped with a green banana, you'll walk away with a full stomach and a warmed heart. The unpredictable nature of this means you can't come wanting to control time or have an efficient food pickup. If you want that go to Cuchifritos in East Harlem. The rice and peas were a little burnt tasting but who cares? It was a party in the middle of the Bronx and more memorable than any food truck I've been to.
