From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel right at home. Juana and her son welcomed us so warmly and quickly got us settled in. The service was attentive from the very beginning, and they immediately took care of us and made the entire experience feel personal and genuine. Once the food came out, every single dish was absolutely delicious. You can truly tell that Juana takes pride in what she does and prepares every meal with care and love for her customers. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, especially the mangu, Cuban sandwich and Rabo - which was amazing! And the desserts were absolutely outstanding -- we left & took home habichuela con dulce and she shared some of her special dessert with us to try and enjoy! My grandson took it lol. It's the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Her son was also so personable and kind, which made the experience even more memorable for my entire family. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. The prices are ridiculous for the tiny portions they give you. And on top of that, they charge a "service fee" just for sitting down and eating, which is NOT the tip. Seriously, what exactly are we paying for? I can only imagine they would charge me a "bagging fee" if I ordered to go. The food was nowhere near worth the price, and the extra fees made the experience even worse. Never again. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Came today with my friends and felt right at home. The owner gave us amazing recommendations and he did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I got the Chimi and my friends got the Rabo. For drinks we got fresh squeezed orange juice and I got a strawberry milkshake. They LITTERALLY brought out a crate full of fresh oranges and strawberries for our drinks. Great spot that's gets BUSY. I believe locals and people that work nearby stop by here, I did come here during lunch time and was wowed at the orders they get in person and through the phone. I ordered three sandwiches. A Cuban sandwich ( good flavor). A ham and cheese ( good) and the ham, cheese and egg omelette I believe it was- it was different, filling and good too. First time here and it won't be the last! Very clean restaurant with multiple ladies cooking, cleaning, and serving up tasty food! Ordered two different daily specials. Chicken was awesome, so tender and flavorful. Pernil was tender, but somewhat bland. Meats are served with a very generous serving of white rice, with a choice of red or black beans, and a bit of maduro. Meat, beans, and rice are all packed separately. Ordered sides of tostones and yuca frita. The tostones were nothing special, but the yuca frita was great! Also ordered a Cubano, which was okay for $5.00! I'm looking forward to going back! Union City has a bunch of places so good you kinda don't want the rest of the world to know, but this is one of those places. When coming here, there's a right way to eat, and a BETTER way to eat. The right way is, start with a good food joint, aka this place. The BETTER way is... make sure to order at least SOMETHING in a sauce / gravy (could be as simple as beans). Doing this will take your experience to a whole other level. I've eaten here many times, and of what I've had, the best thing hands down is the PERNIL (aka, roasted pork). Talking perfectly crispy skin, moist meat that falls apart. (NOTE: served only on Friday and Saturday. Specials change every day). As if that's not good enough, listen to me, this is what you gotta do. Each bite, you gotta dunk in whatever sauce you have. The sauce is the food of love stuff, with all sorts of flavors melding together. So seize on that. And they always serve buttered bread crusts. By themselves, are not bad, but, again, dunk that in the sauce, and you'll see what I mean. They feed you well at really good prices. If you want to go the cheap route, then I recommend the bacon and egg breakfast. It comes with coffee, bread, and a whole lotta bacon (not just 2 measly strips, a LOT). Juana's is a favorite of teachers, staff, and students from the nearby high school and elementary schools in Union City. They don't do anything exceptionally well, but everything is good. They always have soups and stews or roast meat of the day, which is usually good for a quick meal. They also have a full menu with typical Cuban and Dominican food. My family and I went for breakfast we had the mangu with salami eggs n fried cheese the mangu was good but the eggs ever so overcooked it was nasty my niece ordered the eggs sausage and fries the sausage looked and tasted so oily it wasnt good my boyfriend had the Cuban sandwich and it barely had any pernil or ham it was really thin i also ordered a papa rellena and it was frozen and cold inside when i told the waiter they refried it and it came back in pieces like really when i got the bill my total was 34 i paid with my card and when i saw they had charged my 37 and when i asked why the waiter told me with an attitude we charge 2.50 plus tax on cards when she never told me from the start my whole experience was horrible never going back i prefer to go to juana y gloria better service better food and they treat you better over all read more
