Great spot that's gets BUSY. I believe locals and people that work nearby stop by here, I did come here during lunch time and was wowed at the orders they get in person and through the phone. I ordered three sandwiches. A Cuban sandwich ( good flavor). A ham and cheese ( good) and the ham, cheese and egg omelette I believe it was- it was different, filling and good too. I can't wait to come by and try their daily specials but I'm my opinion, the spot is great and the prices are also good

Thankful for Juana's!! You guys are the best! Happy Thanksgiving!! Didn't disappoint..everyone enjoyed!

First time here and it won't be the last! Very clean restaurant with multiple ladies cooking, cleaning, and serving up tasty food! Ordered two different daily specials. Chicken was awesome, so tender and flavorful. Pernil was tender, but somewhat bland. Meats are served with a very generous serving of white rice, with a choice of red or black beans, and a bit of maduro. Meat, beans, and rice are all packed separately. Ordered sides of tostones and yuca frita. The tostones were nothing special, but the yuca frita was great! Also ordered a Cubano, which was okay for $5.00! I'm looking forward to going back! If you're looking for some Spanish home-style cooking, check it out!

Union City has a bunch of places so good you kinda don't want the rest of the world to know, but this is one of those places. When coming here, there's a right way to eat, and a BETTER way to eat. The right way is, start with a good food joint, aka this place. The BETTER way is... make sure to order at least SOMETHING in a sauce / gravy (could be as simple as beans). Doing this will take your experience to a whole other level. I've eaten here many times, and of what I've had, the best thing hands down is the PERNIL (aka, roasted pork). Talking perfectly crispy skin, moist meat that falls apart. (NOTE: served only on Friday and Saturday. Specials change every day). As if that's not good enough, listen to me, this is what you gotta do. Each bite, you gotta dunk in whatever sauce you have. The sauce is the food of love stuff, with all sorts of flavors melding together. So seize on that. And they always serve buttered bread crusts. By themselves, are not bad, but, again, dunk that in the sauce, and you'll see what I mean. They feed you well at really good prices. If you want to go the cheap route, then I recommend the bacon and egg breakfast. It comes with coffee, bread, and a whole lotta bacon (not just 2 measly strips, a LOT). Remember... keep this place a secret! lol.

Neighborhood family run restaurant whose menu varies by the day of the week. Service was very friendly and the young lady who served us was attentive and sweet Breakfast was solid, I greedily had the permit sandwich for breakfast and it was really good.

Fresh, delicious food and milkshakes. Everything is wonderful, but my favorite is, of course, the mangu. Best I've ever had.

I recently visited this restaurant for the first time. When we walked in, we were seated quickly,…read morewhich was a great start. There was also a DJ playing and the music was really good, creating a fun and lively atmosphere. One thing to keep in mind is that they do not have a parking lot, so street parking is the only option. The prices are also on the higher side, but I was still open to seeing if the experience would be worth it. We ordered the picadera Dominicana and the waiter asked if we wanted guacamole. At no point did she mention that it would be an extra charge, so we said yes assuming it was part of the dish. We also ordered a passion fruit sangria pitcher, which was delicious and a good size for sharing. The picadera itself was good and we enjoyed the flavors. Unfortunately, the experience changed when the bill came. Since we were splitting the bill, they charged the appetizer as two separate portions, which ended up costing more. On top of that, we were charged $13 for a very small cup of guacamole, which they labeled on the receipt as "decorative guac" (it was presented as a Dominican flag in the middle). For just an appetizer and a pitcher of sangria, our total came out to $70. What really left a bad impression was when the server brought the bill back and pointed out where the tip section was, as if we didn't know how to read or weren't planning to tip. That felt unnecessary and a bit rude. It's unfortunate because the food and atmosphere had potential, and I likely would have given this place a much better rating if the lack of transparency about the guacamole charge and the comment about the tip hadn't happened.

I'm really disappointed with my experience. I ordered a $20 salad for delivery, and it arrived…read moremissing ingredients that were clearly listed--no onions, no carrots, and no corn. For that price, I expect to receive what's advertised. I called to let them know, and the response I got was just, "sorry about that, I'll let the cook know." No offer to make it right in any way. That kind of response is frustrating, especially when you've paid a premium. Unfortunately, this experience didn't meet expectations at all. I wouldn't order again.

Ordered: 1 Whole Rotisserie Chicken (~$15) with onions…read more Medium Rice (~$6): half Pigeon Pea Rice & half Moro Rice Maduros (~$5) Jupiña Pineapple Soda (~$2) Aya's take: John's Fried Chicken is a Union City classic and I'm glad I finally stopped by. They're known for their incredible Rotisserie Chicken which I can confirm is in fact incredible. It's flavorful, juicy, deliciously roasted, and tender. The chicken skin was crispy and rich in flavor but literally the dark and white parts were equally tasty. Honestly probably some of the best Rotisserie chicken I've ever had. My favorite piece was the thigh, super juicy and delicious. The onions were sweet, crisp, and refreshing - I've never had this with a rotisserie chicken before but it's a game changer. They also serve it with their hot sauce which was both smoky and zesty. The sides I got are a non-negotiable, in my opinion. Both the Pigeon Pea Rice & Moro Rice were well-seasoned, fluffy, and went great with the Rotisserie chicken. The portion is also amazing for the price; it was easily 4 servings! The Maduros were extremely oily but I love the savory-sweet balance you get from them along with the chicken and rice. Super delicious! The Jupiña Pineapple Soda was a good try but could be skipped next time. Note: their menu has cash and credit card prices so you will be paying slightly more per item if you pay with card. All in all, it was an amazing meal that hit the spot and great value! Highly recommend.

Franklin, the owner, was very nice and steered me to some great choices. I got the beef and cheese and the beef chimichurri, both outstanding. I am saving my guava and cheese one for later but it also looks good. While the empanadas were delicious, the generous portions of sauce complemented quite nicely and kicked it up to another flavor level. The pink Siracha is creamy with a kick. The chimichurri sauce is very fresh with lots of garlic. You can pick up to three empanada and two sauce flavors for the meal. The store looks empty but if the door is open, walk in and someone will be out from the back. I had dogs in the car so i waited outside and Franklin was nice enough to bring the order out, as well as with my sunglasses which i had left on the counter. I will definitely be ordering from here many times to come.

The empanadas are made to order so expect a little wait. I thought it was on the expensive side, but it was a better empanada than some other places that barely put any meat. Flavors were good - next time i'd probably go with just cheesesteak and chimi sauce. Other things were just okay, probably wouldn't try them again. Friendly service, I'd stop by again when the craving hits.
