This place is such a good AYCE spot! Great variety, clean, and great service. Our waiter was Joseph and he was so incredibly friendly and helpful. He was going back and forth to so many tables and still having convos with everyone. Shout out to JoJo! You can do hot pot, kbbq, or both. It's also byob, so that's great. They provide the same cups as all the other drinks. Limited slushies from their machine. However, my favorite section of this place is their banchan and other hot foods selection. There's marinated wings, japchae, kimbap, stews, stirfry, tteokbokki, etc. For dessert, there's soft serve and bingsu! FYI, they don't have those large vents usually above the tables during kbbq, so make sure you're not going anywhere afterwards that minds you smelling like bbq. Every year on New Year's Day, my friend and I meet up for lunch since we are the only ones in NJ. It's always an Asian restaurant since they're typically the only ones who are open. Neither of us tried the Moon yet so we decided to check it out. I was able to easily make a reservation via Yelp for 6 people for 12:30 (4 adults + 2 toddlers). For the most part, we already knew what we wanted to order, so we placed an order for the BBQ items and hot pot meats first. Only the meats are the items you need to order. Everything else, you grab at the buffet - including seafood, fish balls, veggies, and noodles. The BBQ items are just okay, but that tends to be the case with you have hot pot + BBQ. The hot pot beef was good but the lamb was super gamey, which turned my broth into a gamey lamb flavor, making everything else I cooked in there have a trace of that too. Bottom line - skip the lamb. As for the buffet, they have a lot of options. Aside from the typical hot pot items, they also have some Korean dishes like kimbap, japchae, kimchi, as well as some fried items. I don't think I liked the Moon enough for a return trip. It's also slightly pricier than other hot pot + KBBQ spots, so I think I'll check out some of the other ones next time. read more

The food did not taste fresh. The shrimp was soft, bland, and seemed as though it had been sitting out for several days. We visited on a weekday, when the advertised price was $36.99/person, but we were charged $37.25/person without any explanation. We also had an 8-year-old child with us who was charged the full adult price. On top of that, a mandatory 20% gratuity was added, even though no one assisted us with grilling the meat during the entire meal. Spacious. Great service. Wonderful layout of tables with enough space among the tables. The sound/noise of customers talking is spaced out due to ample space and the large tables. I went with a couple of friends and we did the bbq and hot pot. The buffet had a lot of options, I was surprised at how many items - by far one of the biggest selections I've seen. You only order the meats at the table for both options, everything else is at the buffet (noodles, veggies etc). The service was good. The drinks were bottled which I don't like, I prefer fountain drinks. It was clean. We went at a time when it wasn't busy. I enjoyed the visit but I've had spicy dashi before at other places and found this one to be a bit bland. Overall, a good place. In comparison to k-pot, I like k-pot better because you order on an iPad and I prefer that method. Side options were more varied at the moon, meat/seafood options were varied at k-pot. read more

Love the sauce area, fresh greens, lots of hotpot add-ons and of course dessert (they even have make-your-own bingsu!). Servers are there to help you get/order meats if you choose bbq and you cook at your table. you may have to season your own seafood which is not a bad idea. Robot helpers can be seen on the good and they have rooms for bigger groups or for a private party. LA Galbi was flavorful and the thin pork belly was good. Service was friendly too. I took my sister here for her birthday to give the place a try. It's a fairly typical Korean BBQ and hot pot spot. All the ingredients are laid out buffet-style for you to grab and bring back to your table. Each person gets their own small hot pot, but there's only one grill per table--which is pretty standard anyway. You can also help yourself to the sauces. They offer the usual selection of meats, vegetables, and some seafood, similar to what you'd find at most hot pot places. The service was good, and the décor is very modern. I heard it used to be a different restaurant before being converted. There's plenty of parking since it's in a shopping area, and it's close to the GWB in Hackensack, making it an easy stop for New Yorkers. Overall, it's on the pricey side, like most Korean hot pot places. I'd come back for special occasions, but not as an everyday spot. read more

It was our first time back here since the business switched over from once was POC. Huge renovation and appearance looked great since the business switched over. The Buffet had it's varieties, KPOT is always a good choice to choose your individual selections. Our waiter was attentive, respectful, always came over every so often if we needed any extra meats, napkins, drinks, and more. WARNING- They are not upfront about when they charge a weekend or weekday price. We went on a Friday for lunch on Juneteenth. After we got the bill and only after I asked for clarification, did they say we were charged weekend prices because Juneteenth is a holiday and fell on a Friday. I'm okay with that but they should be clear upfront. I would have gotten the unlimited meat had I realized. I don't like feeling like I've been tricked. I chose this restaurant based on its high ratings, but unfortunately my experience was very different from what the reviews suggested. First, the service was disappointing. We made a reservation less than an hour before arriving, and the staff repeatedly complained about the short notice. If the restaurant does not want to accommodate reservations made the same day, then why accept them? Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were inconveniencing them simply by showing up for a reservation they had already accepted. The dining environment was also unpleasant. The ventilation system appeared inadequate because the entire restaurant was filled with smoke. By the end of the meal, our clothes and hair smelled strongly of grease and BBQ smoke. It was uncomfortable throughout the meal, and I honestly wondered whether the ventilation system was functioning properly. As for the food, the meat quality was far below expectations, especially considering the price. The cuts we were served did not taste fresh and lacked the flavor and quality I normally associate with Korean BBQ. Overall, the food felt mediocre and did not deliver the authentic Korean BBQ experience we were expecting. The only bright spot was the dessert selection, which was actually pretty decent. What surprised me most was the restaurant's exceptionally high rating. Based on our experience, I genuinely do not understand how it has received so many glowing reviews. Between the rude service, smoky dining room, and underwhelming food quality, I would personally rate it no higher than 3 stars at best. Worthy of being up there with some of the verrrrrry BEST Korean BBQ and Hotpot restaurants in NY and NJ ... period. If you didn't know, this was once an all you can eat restaurant named Port of Call, which we had frequented a few times. It wasn't bad, but it definitely could have used some more love. So, instead of sprucing up POC, a new restaurant sprouted from the grounds and, boy, what a nice surprise The Moon was. I'll go into the food and experience a bit later, but almost the entire interior was renovated (for the better) and it looked fantastic inside - sleek, modern, clean and very well spaced. We dropped in on what we thought was a quiet Monday morning just after they opened for lunch at 12pm and there were already plenty of customers inside. Monday? 12pm? Seriously? It definitely raised my excitement and expectations for what was to come. There are a few options diners can choose from and, to be honest, it was a bit confusing. You can either do Hotpot, K-BBQ or BOTH and there are different price points for Hotpot and K-BBQ, depending on if you want unlimited meat or not - else you pay $4.90 for each plate of meat. Bottom line, it's worth it to just go for the Full Moon, whether you're proceeding with Hotpot or K-BBQ. I've never been a huge Hotpot fan (I KNOW many are), so we did the Full Moon K-BBQ, which includes access to the buffet + unlimited meats. Since there is a 100 minute dining limit (not sure how strict they are), we went through 2 rounds of meats only, but we were well stuffed by the end. First, the buffet ---- what a change from POC. If you're here for just Hotpot, they had EVERYTHING and more! Every seafood (crabs, shrimp, octopus, etc.), meat, vegetable that has come to define what you want to order for Hotpot. They had 5-6 varieties of mushroom! Quite frankly, it was Hotpot heaven. I've been to quite a few hotpots in NYC and I had never seen so many sauces made available to diners like they had here. As for the K-BBQ meats, unfortunately, not every meat was made available during lunch, but, in no way did we feel cheated. We ordered every meat that we could get our hands on - Beef Belly, Beef Bulgogi, Beef Brisket, Pork Belly, Beef Top Blade, Marinated Chicken, Marinated Pork Rib. To sum it up, ALL DELICIOUS!!!! Especially the Beef Bulgogi and Pork Ribs ---- I probably could have just eaten those 2 all day, but since it was our 1st time, we wanted to try everything we could. Besides cooking the meat, we also threw plenty of veggies (mushrooms, zucchini, etc.) and seafood onto the grill. To be honest, I've always found K-BBQ to be so much more fun and enjoyable than Hotpot because of the cooking aspect too. OK, so I've pretty much established that the food and selection was fantastic. What about dessert??? The dessert options weren't huge, but, goodness gracious, they hit it out of the park when it came to this too. Not only did they have a soft serve machine that churned out perfect and ridiculously good soft serve ice cream, but they had a bing su (shaved ice) machine that was constantly producing shaved ice automatically. AND you can top your bing su with various fruits, toppings and red beans. Of course, what good is dessert if it doesn't taste good, right? Well, I'm not only raving about the options, but I'm raving about how good the ice cream and bing su were too. All too often, buffet ice cream is downright nasty, BUT NOT HERE. Like I said, the soft serve was delicious. In fact, it's some of the best restaurant soft serve I've ever had, PLUS you can throw your own sprinkles on it. Service was also excellent too. There were only 2 waiters tending to the 10 or so tables that were occupied, but these 2 gentlemen looked like they were into their jobs, interacting with customers and the waiter that we had was very detailed, walked us through options and they were very attentive to taking away empty meat dishes. I was contemplating about whether to give this place a 2 or 3 because it was truly a 2.5. I'm going with the lower number this time. :( This place has Korean bbq and hot pot, but this time, my friend and I only wanted to try the hotpot this time. And it was eh, just okay. I always choose the dashi broth is the most basic broth, so no complaints about that. But the meat was eh. I usually get the fatty beef and at this place, I think it's called beef belly. I thought it was beef brisket but it was too lean. But the beef belly pieces were so small that I needed to eat 3-4 pieces to make it seem like 1 piece. Also, their fish balls didn't taste that good. And, I tried their japchae and it was overcooked, clumpy unflavored noodles. You know who has good japchae? Garden Shabu. Their japchae is so saucy and flavorful! Sadly, I have a tendency of getting full fast, so I didn't get to try their desserts. I believe they have shaved ice, ice cream, fruit, various pastries, and even cotton candy by the entrance. Our waitress was awesome and giving strong auntie vibes. I love Korean aunties who take good care of you. Sad to give this place such a low rating, but I think you should know what to expect. The family came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was busy but we were seated immediately. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seatings. We opted for the hot pot and bbq option since it's our first time here and wanted to try everything. The broth option and meat selection were pretty standard as any other similar restaurants. The hot station is pretty expansive and it comes with a dessert station as well which is nice. I chose the pork for the hot pot broth and my wife decided on the tomato. Our server was very friendly and helpful, and gave me a side of mala spice to add to the broth if I wanted to since I was indecisive between the two. The broth here were very light and mild, not a bad thing but I would have preferred a more rich flavored broth. The highlight of the night were definitely the meats. They were well marinated and all the cuts have a nice balance of meat and fat. Our server provided us with his recommended dipping sauce and they were amazing. Even though it was a busy night, we did not once felt rushed and our server were extremely attentive throughout the night. It was a wonderful dinner and our toddler enjoyed the food as well. Bright, clean, easy to navigate, with large vegetarian selections of hot-pot ingredients. My daughter and I chose two "New Moon" buffet - hot pot only, seafood included. My daughter is an exclusive vegetarian, while I can occasionally tolerate a small amount of good fish and shrimp. Their seafood selection is quite small, and I was only sure about the shrimp, so I picked out 3 to eat. The shrimp added some nice flavor to my broth. We ate a decent amount of their vegetarian buffet. However, our favorite ingredient, the lotus root, was flavorless and yielded too fast to the boiling - it may have been soaked for too long, and cut too thin. The same goes for the bamboo shoots - too thin and undurable. They also ran out of tofu skin (another fave of my daughter's) and did not replenish it throughout our stay. There is a large selection of sauces for one to mix one's own unique combination, but as a hot-pot traditionalist, I only need a good sesame paste sauce, some chilli oil/sauce, and plenty of chopped cilantro. Unfortunately, every sauce tasted sweet, even when it should have been savory or spicy. Another point for improvement: please supply draining ladles for every customer. Went with three other people for a friend's birthday. I wanted the smallest option possible so I did the BBQ only. The other three did unlimited BBQ with hot pot. With each choice you get what seems like 100 or more different options for sides from the bar. The server came over and dropped off the meat and walked away. We thought he was coming back to bring more or to start cooking our meal however he just stood on the side. We told him we weren't interested in cooking and he did not seem too pleased. He kept walking away for long amounts of time where the meat was over cooking. I've been to plenty of other Korean BBQ (NYC) and this place just didn't do it for me. To top it all off they told us if we took the leftover food WE ALREADY PAID FOR, there would be an extra charge however the server said they didn't even have takeout containers. This place is a cluster F. They are dumping out food (unless you take it, then it's stealing) in that case don't say anything and just bring your own containers. Visited Moon's Buffet for a 2-person lunch and had a chill time. There was plenty of seating and not loud. Sauce selection is probably the best in the area so you can keep changing up flavors. Veggie, seafood, and precooked food sections keep you busy between. You can probably skip meat if you want a lighter meal but we enjoyed the meat upgrade so we could take better advantage of the sauces. I also love seafood and there were two types of crab (Jonah and swimming) and also clams at the bar when we went, so that's unique to this buffet for this area! I love the sauce station (wasabi sauce was delicious). My biggest problem is the hotpot soup base. The mala soup is the only one that passes. The dashi soup base is tasteless. Soup is so important for hotpot!! The other thing is I'm a bit worried about hygiene. I know you boil/cook everything. But the plates are black and so any white stain is easily noticeable. For a place in Bergen, kbbq/hot pot is a must, but I must say, prepared to be disappointed for a meal here. Starting off, a pro is that there was no wait on Saturday night, but definitely was a suspicious sign. The interior is modern and well decorated, but it was quite disappointing that for large tables that for 6 or 8 people, there was only 1 grill built into the table, making it a hassle to distribute food, especially because we had a food restriction at our table. The portions for each meat was quite small, and our waitress was quite difficult to get a hold of, whether it was for simple water refills, scissors, or changing the bbq plate. The offering for seafood was quite diverse, which would have been nice but we didn't get hot pot in our party so we wouldnt able to try it out and tell how fresh it was. The desserts were quite interesting, with storebought cookies, the classic odd fudgy brownie, jello, fruit, and a nice bingsoo machine. The sauce bar had a nice diversity of options, but I had to flag down some staff to refill some of the components. The hot bar was very much a joke, especially with the "vegetable tempura" being just fried potato slices, next to a plate of fries... In good faith, I can't give them a 1 star as their kbbq was edible and the bingsoo machine was a savior here, so a 2-star restaurant for this place.
