Came here to watch a world cup game with a few friends. We were able to grab a reservation and glad we did cause they were booked (given the game). We were seated soon after we checked in. Service overall was friendly though you could tell they were busier with the larger number of customers that day. We ordered several dishes and all of them were overall good. Some of the dishes we ordered included rice cakes, seafood pancake, and a broth. I appreciated that it wasn't too spicy so that all of us at the table could enjoy it. I've been to Duri Pocha a couple times now. I was very pleased both times. The pa-dak (scallion chicken) is delicious. At first I thought it was just because the first time I had it I was drinking soju and beer with my friend but it was still just as good the second time around. It's juicy and cheesy and spicy and the scallions add some welcome freshness to the dish. What's not to love? For my second visit my friend wanted to try the bo-ssam (pork wraps). It was pretty good, but I'll probably skip it next time. There wasn't anything wrong with it, I've just had better at other places. I feel like it lacked a bit in flavor and it was a little chewy. The menu here is big enough that I'd try other things before I go back to the bo-ssam. There's plenty of seating and service is pretty quick. There's a button at the table to call your server and if you press it they come over real fast. The ambiance is your typical pocha; it's kind of dark, kind of noisy, and there are a lot of colors all around. I'll come back eventually. read more

Always wanted to check out this pocha since I always stop by hmart which is close by. Wow, what a super disappointing visit! We got takowasabi which was frozen and tasted super salty. It also came with a side of lemon which it usually doesn't and the octopus wasn't even cut up and I had to mix the wasabi in myself. Then we ordered the pollack roe stew which was super fishy and not edible. The food is the absolute worse; hoping I don't get food poisoning. What happened to this place. Mul galbi small ($35): doesn't come with rice. Asked for rice and they charge $2. I think it would nice if it came with rice cus it's soup with the glass noodles but still feels like you need rice. I try to eat less carbs so I didn't need the rice but my bf did. They refilled our soup with more broth! Loved that they did this! There's a lot of bean sprout and stuff so this was def a game changer and great service! I don't need all that bean sprout. The soup doesn't have that much meat and is mostly veggies. Lots of tables and cool booths, lively and fun decor inside with a downstairs area with more booths/tables/screens for sports. Very good service, but parking can be a little tight if it's super busy since it's on somewhat of a main road. Either way, haven't had too much of a problem getting parking. Also, the chicken was frozen store bought boneless chicken. You could tell by the breading and also as soon as I bit into it, the bigger pieces were still hard inside. The soondae bokeum (blood sausage stir fry) also tasted like it was frozen store bought. We let the staff know that the scallion chicken didn't have scallion so they had the kitchen bring it out. They brought out more lettuce... Repeat customer. This place never misses!! This is a small place but there is plenty of seating. This particular night I came on a weekday and I realized that valet was not working. This was not a problem as there was plenty of parking on property but for those who know and have been here on weekends, it gets PACKED and valet comes in clutch. I came as a party of 6, we walked in and we're promptly seated. I tend to not deviate much when I come here, but I seriously should in the future. The people I came with had never been here, so I ordered for the table. Came here on a random weekday night and this place had a decent amount of people. They took out their outdoor tents and only had indoor dining available when we were there and the tables were pretty close together. TBH, I felt a bit uneasy dining so close to others. The place was lively and had loud hip pop playing in the back. The workers were efficient. We ordered the spicy chicken with rice and cheese and that was really yummy. We came here on a Saturday night after DanBam was too full to take any more groups. We were pleasantly surprised to hear that this place was open and close by. There was a "parking lot" out front and they also offered car service if needed. The parking lot really only fit 3 or 4 cars though so I definitely recommend the plenty of side street parking. We came here during COVID and they took all the necessary precautions. They offered outdoor seating, took temperatures upon entry, had tables 6 feet apart from each other, required masks indoors, and had hand sanitizer on the tables. We ordered a few of the items that you see below. Honestly everything we had was very authentically Korean and very good! The portions were also big enough to feed all 7 of us. We, of course, ordered a few bottles of soju and beer with our meal. Staff was incredibly friendly and food was so good and very affordable. Well what the heck was I missing? Cause the food here is the best from a pocha by far. Other places have similar names and looking dishes but the last where the similarities end. Their mul-kalbi is far superior to others - the soup base makes all the difference and trust, theirs is far better. I must have drove by this place 1,000,000 times! Finally a friend was like hey lets go eat here, I definitely have no complaints at all with this restaurant! This is a great place for drinks with the friends or just to have some unique Korean food. The setup and setting was cool and I liked how each table has it's own little "room & burner." Every other pocha out there, come here and take notes. When you step in here, you really feel like you're in Korea. Every single dish here is fantastic and the vibe here is very cool. While they have the traditional pocha dishes (which taste great), they serve other dishes that are honestly in the fine-dining class. What I'm basically saying is, you won't get poop no matter what dish you order. The dishes I really enjoy are the spicy cheese chicken (ask them to make it less spicy if you don't like your mouth being on fire), dak kalbi (spicy chicken with rice cakes and vegetables) which they make into fried rice with the leftovers, boochoo chadol (brisket and leek), roast chicken (best in the area) and sliced pork stir-fry. Their sashimi is pretty good too. Enjoy any of those dishes with drinks of your choice along with old-school Korean music. It will be helpful if you're not Korean, to come here with a Korean person who knows a thing or two about these types of food/places. read more

Pocha is an abbreviation in Korean for pojang macha, which in literal translation means a wrapped carriage. People were not so well-off after the Korean war, and one way they made a living was to sell food & drinks in the streets using a mobile carriage. To present the carriage more like a business and to guard against the cold, they wrapped the carriage such that it resembles a tent (like a Big Top but smaller). These pochas were kicked out of the streets as the country recovered but people still remembered the taste and the whole experience of a pocha. Thus, businesses nowadays name themselves 'pocha' evoking bittersweet memories of the past. If you haven't fallen asleep yet, feel free to read the review below. I'm positive that the owner himself thinks of Duri pocha as more of a bar than a restaurant, but I respectfully disagree. I come here to eat because their food is superior to most, if not all, Korean restaurants nearby. My go-to's are marinated pork ribs, spicy fish roe soup, and potato pancakes but I would just order what sounds good to you since not a single dish has failed me here thus far. The service is pleasant for the most part esp. with complimentary valet parking but I did notice on multiple occasions that the servers here seat us downstairs even when the tables were wide open on the first floor. I neither think of this as an issue nor take it personally but why? It wouldn't be a bad idea to let people know of the reason as I hear not only our party but others murmuring about this. read more
