Recommend getting the goat meat, goat stew. Other dishes were also very good, also BYOB. Restaurant closes at 10pm everyday.

Visited on Saturday night. Waited a bit to be seated. We sat at the middle table. It was so loud. Waited a long time to order because the server was not getting to us. We had to stop one of them while she was getting to the other table. Side dishes: kimchi isn't really fermented. Tasted pretty raw and too sweet. I wanna call this a salad. Heukyumso jeongol: I liked the soup. It tasted okay. The meats aren't flavored at all. The whole jeongol came pretty cold. We waited a while for the warmer to cook the soup (never really did). I wanted to ask them to boil this dish but server never gets to us. 3/5

Black Goat Meat on bed of scallion
    Greg K.

With my clients from Korea and we decided to take a trip from Manhattan all the way to Ridgefield, NJ to have the specialty of Black Goat Meat or Heu Kyum So Suyuk as they had this on the menu! I never heard of this before, but besides KBBQ and Soondobu and banchan, what would I really know anyway right! Well, I was googling like crazy this dish both in the english words on their menu and also the Korean spelling and got really nothing. This dish is simply amazing and well worth the trip to have this dish! 1. They bring out the rib meat or the neck meat to your table and prepare all the meat for your dish! The meat and bones have been simmering for perhaps 8+ hours and it is fall off the bone tender! 2. Once carved, they place it on a steaming dish on your plate on a bed of scallions and then you are given lettuce leaves, garlic, jalepenos and some kind of Ssamjang that you mix up. 3. Then, you simply forget your manners and dig in here! Now, I am not being polite, I am not using the "other end" of my chopsticks. I am all out in my "Lord of the Flies" mode and making my lettuce wraps of goat meat, scallion, garlic and shoving all this in my mouth to chew while I prep another of these wonderful tender wraps. After this wrap, we next had the soup and i was told it was the Heu Kyum so Jeongol which was plane and delicious. Finally, we ended this meal with Fried Rice and it was simply a complete and enjoyable experience. We were fortunate to go with native Koreans that knew how to order this and how to eat it. What a great experience. Tender, tasty, fun and totally enjoyable. Family owned mom and pop type shop. Excellent and GK says.... check it out.

Amazing goat meat! The steamed meat was very tender and juicy, one of the best goat meat I've ever had. The lamp soup was also full of flavor. Highly recommend!

The food is a 4.5 the atmosphere and experience is a 2.7. Overall, the staff is just meh and the dishes are unsanitary considering this place is very old. However, there really is no other restaurant that serves goat, rice, and soup like this. The acorn jelly is my favorite side dish and they brought us more. The sauce is pretty good with goat. I would ask for extra of those bead things to add more crunchiness. The kalbi is very sweet. I would only recommend coming here if you love goat and can bring a water bottle. We come here twice a year to have goat. Each serving of goat is about $33 so it is a bit on the pricier side.

One word: black goat stew. Git it & you'll earn super powers. Even better if you're a guy they say. (lol) Regardless of the veracity of that claim above, I come here when I need an energy boost and I've always left super charged and ready to snap buildings in half. And I did. No comment on what they were made of. Love dipping bits of goat meat in that spicy mustard + ssamjang-ish paste + parella seeds & their oil (ddeul kkae oil) + minced garlic dip. There, I just told you the recipe - I'm nice like that. You could also have black goat soo yook which is the version they give you steamed meat, soup, and later make a fried rice out of the remaining soup. Definitely a 2-ppl + take home container kind of hearty meal. Even their banchans rock. This place simply cannot go wrong. I've been a loyal patron since mid-2000s, chasing them around from Fairview, Fort Lee, and now to Ridgefield. For a foodie like me to do such a thing, it means they got their shiznits down. GO EAT GOAT. Thank me later when you snap stuff in half.

It's bit pricey for mom/pop-shop of korean restaurant but I want to say they have a very healthy food. Very authentic and I would come here again. Service was great too. The servers don't seem to speak english so may need to just do lot of body language.

    Sam gye tang
    Genevieve C.

Ever since trying Sam gye tang in Korea, I have been looking for this dish in the tristate area. I was not disappointed when I tried it here. The soup arrives sizzling inside the bowl with different herbs and the well cooked chicken. Be ready for another delight when you see the rice stuffed inside the chicken. The soup taste savory without any salt (the dish is served with salt on the side for your preference). Just writing about this fish made my mouth waters. This would be my number one go-to dish in the winter, especially considering it is great for the health. The restaurant also sells its own homemade kimchi which I liked better than the ones we get in store. But just for the Sam gye soup alone, I would come back again for sure.

Steamed black goat meat called 'Sooyook' It is Korean tradition to keep your energy level maintained during hot summer season.

Food got so much better and staffs are very friendly. Although I am not a big fan of kimchi, I found their kimchi and banchan(appetizer) absolutely delicious. Feels very healthy and fresh. FYI, goat meat is Korean traditionally help maintain your stamina high during hot summer season. I feel recharged and ready for the summer.

A relaxing place to hang out with friends on a winter day and have some black goat, the food is great!

A friend recommended this place for Goat Meat. There aren't many places that specializes in steamed black goat meat. I believed that this place used to be a place for sushi/sashimi, not sure when they changed but am glad that they did. The is a minimum of 2 lb for the steamed black goat which was what I ordered which I think it is good for 2-3 people (if really hungry 2 people..lol). They also serve soup and fried rice served after the meat, both of these was amazing. The meat was very tender and each bite just melts in your mouth. Even better when dipped with the sauces they provide. The Service was great here and people were super nice. The goat dish is break down by the waitress and they do this at each table so it may take a little time (this is understandable). Definitely a place worth checking out. See you soon Bang Ga Nae. Also this place is BYOB. Soju is best with the goat meal - I feel.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Ended up getting the pork combo for 2 ($90) and chose to get the aged pork belly, pork jowl and marinated pork short ribs. They give you a lot of banchan (side dishes) and they were good. The quality of the pork was really good as well. There was a lot of food for two people which I really appreciated. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. Since this is a full-service BBQ, our server came around frequently to grill, cut, or flip or meats. After all was eaten and done, it become mysteriously difficult to flag her down for our cheque. We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service. It's a shame because we loved this restaurant, but after tonight, we have no desire to return.
