Overall a nice modern Korean restaurant in north Jersey. Came here for a friend's reunion for which we had a weekend dinner reservation we called ahead for. Wow, it's been awhile I was satisfied with everything about a restaurant, from the ambiance to the service and the food in its representation and the taste. I had this place bookmarked for awhile and finally got to come here with a friend. The area wasn't what I expected but once you walk inside, it is a completely different vibe. It's somewhere I would come for a nice meal with my parents or for a date night. The staff here are very friendly and give you enough space so you can enjoy your time with your party, but attentive enough so that we don't have to ask for our cup to get our water refilled. We ordered the k-beef striploin tartare bibimbap and the marinated pork galbi gui. Both were SO good and I love the sides that they came out with, as well as the representation/plating for everything. The grilled meat did get cold pretty fast but it was still very yummy! We made reservations for a Saturday evening dinner to celebrate Mother's Day. The restaurant has their own parking lot to the side, although self parking spots are limited and the other handful of parking are valet. The restaurant has an upscale appearance with a casual and family friendly vibe. The staff were all very friendly and the service provided was top notched. My partner and I reserved for the night of Valentines Day at 7PM and we were promptly seated. Keep in mind that it is Valet parking mandatory so we asked for cash breaking inside so we could tip after dinner. The interior is very pretty and clean, and makes for great ambience. There's also Korean music playing which we enjoyed. We ordered the prix fixe menu for Valentines Day at $99/person. Surprisingly it came with lots of food and we left stuffed and with some minimal leftovers. We started with a complimentary glass of champagne for both of us. For appetizers, we got the pancake flight (4 pancakes, truffle,meat,etc) and fried fish. For entrees, we were served a meat platter for 2 to share, and then each chose an additional entree (spicy octopus bibimbap and perilla oil pasta). We ended the night with a basque cheesecake. Overall my favorites were definitely the fish, the meat platter for 2, and the spicy bibimbap. The cheesecake was also creamy and a sweet way to end the night. We came knowing we'd be paying for a more fancy meal and a prix fixed for Valentines, but we left pleased at the quality overall of the food. The only things that could be improved was the service speed near the end of the meal as it was hard to get our check. (And more options for parking!) Please save your money and don't come here. We had a bad start with the tuna tataki appetizer. The tuna was straight up FROZEN, it tastes more like ice than tuna. We sent the dish back to the kitchen, but they brought it back out and told us it was how it was supposed to taste like. I've had tuna tataki at other restaurants before and never had this experience... My husband ordered beef tartare bibimbab, and the beef was also frozen. It seems like it's the norm to serve frozen meat at this restaurant. The service and the grilled meat at the restaurant is good-ish, which is the only reason why it would deserve 1 star. The meat is cooked and seasoned to perfection. They also have amazing side dishes and desserts. I usually hate cheesecake at any location but my friend ordered the cheesecake and it was literally the best cheesecake I had in my life. This is the only cheesecake I would actively seek out. I was pleasantly surprised by the large portion of the Hanpan - for a group of 4, we ordered the Hanpan for Duo and a pasta and it was a lot of food. The meats are very soft and too seasoned so you can try the various accompanying sauces (like soybean, salt, wasabi, etc.). Straight to point: 1. Taste is great 2. Service is OK 3. Price vs quality&quantity is decent, slightly on the pricy side Place is not too shabby. Overall most food tasted really good. Beef was on point, pork jowls was great, and house bacon was top notch. Other side dishes were 8~10 out of 10. I would go back to try other items for sure. Reason for 4 stars is the service was very slow. 35 minutes for appetizer (Gamja Jun) to come out and it was disappointing. I would scrap this 'fried hash browns' and bring out the traditional Gamja Jun. Sauce was good though. Then over 1 hr for main to come out. Now, I don't expect things to come out immediately but this was bit extreme. Granted it was Friday night but not 1 person came to tell us any update. Cream ale doesn't really go with any of the food. Might want to consider other pairings to see if it makes sense. And 1 last minor detail, please fry dduk-ggochi slightly to give it a crispy outer texture. By the way, I was hearing every time someone was cursing inside the kitchen/prep area. "I-C-8 this, I-C-that" in Korean lol. Might want to watch out. The space is very big and great for a gathering. We came on a Sunday for dinner without reservations, and the staff was accommodating and nice. We did not have to wait to get in. For appetizers, we had: Truffle Potato Jeon This appetizer was fantastic The potato is fried to perfection (no doubt using some Korean black magic) The truffle sauce is in the side and not at all overpowering as it can be Beef Striploin Tartare Unless you are adamantly opposed to raw beef, I would strongly advise you to try this. It comes with a raw egg that you put over the tartar and mix together (along with the gochujang or not and just adding a bit to each bite) For the main course: Beef Galbi Gui Absolutely delicious! Another strong recommend Bibimbap We ordered it in the stone, as she likes the burned rice bits at the end This dish was solid The side dishes were also very nice. Drinks here are great! However, they do have a 1 hr wait time for them. We ordered the Valentines course being $200 per pair. The tuna tataki and beef tartare were frozen/had solid middles plus stale bread but I'll give that the 1st main meat entree itself with LA Galbi was good. Our tartare bibimbap had no rice and was just "bibim". The 2nd round of entrees offered perilla noodles and a milmyeon but, unfortunately, they were just not good and had 0 flavors. It took 20 minutes just to receive water and we had repeatedly asked for our drink orders as well We also had to wait an extra 20 just to receive our checks to leave. We arrived at 8pm and had to leave by 11pm due to slow service. This is my first time writing a bad review for a restaurant. Overall save your money and find another establishment to dine at.
