Very underrated mom and pop shop! Great overall experience - first time trying a Korean specialized eel restaurant and they hit it out of the park. Felt like a full course meal with the pancake and seaweed soup We got the eel combo of the grilled and seasoning eel and we prefer the grilled with eel sauce more. If you're craving eel, this is the spot for you!

Very simple menu Most people come here for eel Salted, seasoning or mix flavor Over all was ok Eel is bit over cooked and little dry But flavor was good. And kimbap only $6 very good deal. Only 3 dine in table, they serve take out mostly

Best eel ive had in this area. Super fresh and no hiding behind sauces or seasoning. Salted grilled eel was my favorite. They are very generous with the amount of side dishes they give along with a scallion pancake to start, with seaweed soup. Portion size for the eel ran small as I got the 3 serving combo with salted grilled eel and marinated eel and easily finished between 2 people. Overall very happy with the flavors and quality of eel.

    Very dried eel

Firstly, the portion size was very small. The amount for two servings was just enough to fit on a plate around 15 cm in diameter, which was barely enough for the two of us to eat. Secondly, the price was expensive! From previous posts, one serving was about $27.50, and they required a minimum of two servings. But today, when we went, it had increased to nearly $33, so just for the two of us to eat eel cost over $70. Considering the portion size, it was really not worth it! Additionally, previous visitors mentioned that they were given eel soup and a scallion pancake, but today we were told that the scallion pancake costs $15. Also, the grilled fish didn't come with rice, which was really disappointing. Thirdly, the taste was poor! The key to eating grilled eel is the sauce, but the eel here had hardly any sauce at all. The sea eel itself was dry and tough from grilling, and since it was being cooked over a fire at the table, it just got drier and drier. The salt-grilled river eel tasted really fishy, which is probably why they put so much ginger on it. This is the only place I've seen add shredded ginger to their eel. By the end, all you could taste was the ginger. Fourthly, the service was terrible! There was only one older lady who didn't speak English serving. Throughout the meal, aside from giving us two small bottles of mineral water and a little bit of cold dishes, we hardly saw her. The side dishes she gave were extremely spicy and completely inedible. It was really disappointing.

i came on a Sunday around 1:30 pm and it was empty! the service was exceptional, the food came out quick, and everything was very clean. they give you complimentary side dishes and a scallion pancake. the scallion pancake was soooo crispy!! they also give you lettuce to wrap the eel and seaweed soup but i forgot to take a photo of it. the eel soup has a strong flavor but i definitely think it's worth giving it a try. there aren't actual eel pieces in the soup - i think it's ground up but if you're a texture person, the texture of the soup was smooth! i ate it with rice and it was perfect for the rainy weather

This place is the hidden gem for some traditional Korean eels cooking and etc. Me and my friends came here around the afternoon. It was busy but there were only 4 tables and I think they have patio in the back. We ordered couple of items to start out with and then the main entrees which is grilled ell and stir fry eel. They are freshly caught and make in the restaurant. I really liked their grilled eel over the stir fry kind, but that is just me. Not to mention, their cold stir spicy noodle is delicious as well. I usually don't like eating cold noodle but this place changed my mind. Definitely to try this place out if you want some fresh grill eel!

Amazing! The place is small, only three tables and menu is one page, so you know this place is good. We got the fresh eel combo and it was so good! Both were good. The crisp of the eel was so Delicious especially with the sauce! The marinated eel was also so good. I don't eat eel as often, but this was amazing. The banchan was great! I wasn't expecting a whole pancake! It was one of the better Korean pancakes I ever got! Definitely would be back for more! We drove a hour to get here.

Homey joint with 3-4 small tables inside that's cranking out some nice clean flavors. Menu was pretty straight forward and eel was the star here. 2 order minimum on roasted eel so it was about $60 for the combo. Portion size was leaning on the small side at that price range for me, and I am glad we ordered the eel soup plus some gimbap as well. Flavor-wise it was definitely the best roasted eel I have had around the area, but then again, not many dedicated eel joints around. The most noticeable aspect was that the flavor was very clean and not greasy, unlike the prepackaged eel packs you pick up in the frozen section. Eel soup was savory but not heavy. Broth was good here. Gimbap was very good as well. All in all, good eats but the price was definitely running on the high side considering the portion on the roasted eel.

If I could give zero star I would. At first there only three table there for staying, the waitress told us it needs 35 minutes to wait for a seat so We ordered take out. But only 5 minutes past, there one vacant table there and We asked for staying cause we got two babies there and we wanna add more food. Surprisingly, she refused our request and give us no reason just told me she didn't wanna us to stay inside. It's SOOOO RUDE and I got no idea why she doing that!!!!! So I had to hold my takeout as well as holding my babies in outside when it was raining. And the bag are broken in the middle of the street when we're walking!! I never been through such BAD experiences ever never before! By the way, the food just so so, if you looking for something special, just save it!!!!

This mom and pop shop is great for an eel bbq lunch. We got the half and half combo for three people. The combo came with a scallion pancake and seaweed soup along with all the ponchon. Super delicious! I plan to come back for the eel rice!

Spicy eel dup bop, you mix it up with rice which is under the eel. The yellow thing is not noodles; that's egg.

In Korea, eels are sought after for their healthy benefits. Unlike eel sushi, Korean eels are grilled and they come with lettuce and whole slew of side dishes. I've had my first grilled eel meal in Korea a couple of years ago, and it was one of the most memorable meals there. I didn't think I could find a place that specializes in eels here NJ. Boy was I glad to find this place opened on Broad Ave during the pandemic nonetheless! Apparently they used to be at a golf range but moved to Palisades Park. I had to create the business profile on Yelp because I would like them to succeed and stick around for a long time. There's no other place like this! Please check out the pictures. How I like to eat my eel is to dip it in the eel sauce and put it on the lettuce wrap. I add slices of ginger, some spicy radish kimchi, soybean paste, and sometimes a slice of the green pepper. I shove it in my mouth and just enjoy all the flavor and feel good for eating something that's good for my body. I usually go for the salt grilled eel, which is plain. They have marinated eel which had a bit of kick. Just be aware that when you order the grilled eel package, it doesn't come with rice. You might have to ask for it if you don't have rice at home. We've only done take out but they do have dining space in there.

Fresh water eel combo (seasoning & salted grilled) and Sea water eel (spicy), side dishes and kimbap.
    M. R.

Ordered take out for the first time at this restaurant. For party of 3, ordered 1 fresh water eel combo and Sea eel. Total after taxes ~$87. The order came with few side dishes, sufficient amount of green lettuce, and free service (kimbap). No rice. This was for lunch. Each dish was surprisingly delicious and neatly packed. I think the portion was decent. For the amount paid, I think they could have given more side dishes. I know eel is expensive but the order was about $30 per person. I wouldn't order from this place frequently. Maybe when it's safer to eat out, I'll visit again to eat at the restaurant. I gave 5 stars because we were enjoyed this meal. Also for the convenience.

Surprisingly really good. Much better than most grilled Japanese eel from other restaurants

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Once I entered, was seated at a table, there was no wait. Ended up getting the pork combo for 2 ($90) and chose to get the aged pork belly, pork jowl and marinated pork short ribs. They give you a lot of banchan (side dishes) and they were good. The quality of the pork was really good as well. There was a lot of food for two people which I really appreciated. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. Since this is a full-service BBQ, our server came around frequently to grill, cut, or flip or meats. After all was eaten and done, it become mysteriously difficult to flag her down for our cheque. We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service. It's a shame because we loved this restaurant, but after tonight, we have no desire to return.
