Great lil restaurant right next to Hmart! Staff is super friendly and they have a great menu selection. Everything tasted fresh, healthy, and homemade.

Best mandoo I've ever had. The filling to wrapper ratio was dreamy. Fish egg sac soup was . This is worth going out of the way to try. Will go back.

This is probably the 1000th time I've been to Soram but I always forget to leave my review because everything here is soooo Good. Vibe&service: 4/5 This is a very homey, cozy small place and service is impeccable. All the servers are super patient and nice when we ask about certain dish/ask for more side dishes. Food is served promptly. Plenty of parking space. Food: 4/5 Everything here is usually really really good! Only small complaint is that the price went up a lot but I guess that is to be expected. We usually get the Myungbean (Chung po mook) and bossam (steamed pork) as appetizers and they never disappoint. Chung po mook is extremely flavorful from perilla leaves, salted seaweed, and perilla oil and super refreshing. This is my favorite! Bossam is super tender and served with spicy radish, few sauce options and pickled lettuce. This dish is extremely hard to master as pork can have gamey taste but Soram def mastered this and my husband absolutely loves this dish! We also ordered Kong biji (ground soybean), galbi tang (short rib soup), and bibimbop. All the dishes were obviously amazing but what I love the most about this place is that everything tastes exactly the same as how it was 10 years ago when I first discovered this place! Def come here for a hearty soup or any home style comfort food. You can be sure that no matter ehat time or what day of the week you decide to stop by, you will be greeted by friendly staffs and awesome food! Highly recommend!

Small restaurant on the hmart mall. Visited on early evening on Saturday. No one was there. They seated us pretty quickly. This wasnt an ordinary Korean restaurant. I visited because I heard it's more traditional and not using too much chemical ingredient. Nothing was too spicy nor salty. Everything tasted pretty plain, as compared to other restaurants, but very authentic. I would say everthing tasted like a real homemade food. From the plating to the taste, everything was nicely polished. We ordered dumpling soup and bossam. I haven't had a hand made dumpling in a while. Most Korean and other restaurants use pre-made dumplings which taste the same. I really enjoyed the dumpling. The taste of the soup may be little plain, but guess what?, this taste is normal... I realized that I was so used to eat those msg foods. Bossam was well cooked radishes were good too. Loved the dipping sause, Ssamjang. Would definitely come back more often

Took my Korean mom who was visiting from Hawaii here. She loved it! This definitely says a lot as she doesn't really enjoy eating out. This place is very clean - both the restaurant and the food. I love the presentation of the dishes. Truly tastes like an authentic homecooked Korean meal.

I came here for lunch with my boss. I was recommended to start with a basic dumpling soup (Mandoo Guk) which is apparently very popular. Had I taken my time to review the options I would have chosen something more spicy. I found the broth in my soup to be incredibly bland. I made up for it with some of the yummy kimchee and a sauce they brought me on the side. The dumplings inside the soup are delicious and there was a lady off to the side making them by hand. Prior to the dumpling soup, they brought us a cold pumpkin soup as a palate cleanser...very interesting! It had an ingredient I couldn't identify...maybe bean paste or mochi flour that gave it an odd consistency and sweetness. I wasn't crazy about this, but it was just a few spoonfuls and then Kimchi was served.

Highly highly recommend this spot for clean, simple Korean food with amazing quality ingredients you can really taste. The first spot in the US ive found that offers this type of preparation of korean food, that focuses on the freshness of the components themselves as opposed to spice/salt/fat etc. Very refreshing and light but filling meal. Could have run a marthon after. Loved the bibimbap and memil jeon.

COVID UPDATE Indoor dining available with social distancing. This is my fifth+ time eating here. Food doesn't taste like it did a few months ago. Kimchi is still freshly made, but fewer banchan available. Sesame seed kalguksu (not pictured) was ok, it is with clear broth. The goongjoong dukbokki was good, the sauce is not too strong with a mix of sweet and sa

It's a Korean restaurant located in the plaza by H-Mart Ridgefield. The name of the restaurant is very humble, and many Korean restaurants use it, as Soram sort of means "it ain't much, but please look with a smile." It was actually used in letter-writing days to show writer's modesty to elders. It is definitely a positive vibe to be used as a restaurant's name, it relays the owner's diligence as well as humility in serving the customers. Anyways, like all the restaurants due to COVID-19, Soram was currently doing take-out orders, so the pictures weren't expected at 100%, but at least referenced. Ordered: - Small Spicy Braised Beef Short Ribs $27.95 - Ox Knee Soup (also known as the cartilage soup) $14.95 I was surprised to see 3 small pieces of short ribs in the $30 dish. We did order the small instead of the large $47.95, but I figured judging by the price, it would be for for 2 or 3 people. Surely, we did smile, not in a way that was expected perhaps, but yes. Restaurant confirmed that the small short ribs have 3 or-so pieces as to the large has 6 or-so pieces. I think we were still smiling then. The cartilage soup, I can vouch job well-done, but.. they seem to have forgotten to include the salt-pepper. But it is the last drop that makes the spill or it's the last second that counts? People tend to be drawn close to restaurants that are sensible. I was getting the sense that the restaurant is falling behind of the high-end scale that they seem to be aiming for. I am for the benefit of the doubt and hoping that the experience will be a game changer for the dine-in, as I have seen the reviews and the photos of the fellow Yelpers. Hoping the restaurant can deliver a different kind of smile in my next visit and for the restaurant to endure the effects of COVID-19. With Soram, Your customer.

Finally came here! It was really busy in a sat afternoon. Their dumpling is the best in NJ. It's pricy but worthy. The side dishes- kimchi and yuzu lettuce are so yummy. Their tea is rice tea. Will come again. Next time I will order steam dumplings only

Bibimbap 비빔밥 (assorted vegetable over rice- rice served separately )
    Julia N.

Ordered and take-out about 5 bibimbaps and 5 dumpling soup. I was disappointed with small amount of veges for bibimbap. All five bibimbap each came with rice, gochujang(spicy paste) and two types of Kimchi on the side.

Have been trying various items on the menu over the last few years and the food here tastes extremely clean regardless of what you order. The broth is always savory without any unwanted aftertaste, and the veggie dishes are light yet keeps you wanting more. Of course, the mandoos are always a sure thing here. Still see those ladies cranking them out by hand at that corner table. My only wish is that they can have another location even closer to home.

    Jiran C.

The food is not bad, not stunning, but it is OK. Personally, I don't believe it matches the price of them. And the one I want a to-go, The waitress told me that I am not allowed to take the free kimchi to-go. I am not quite sure about the logic. Either there is a some freaking secret recipe for that plain kimchi, or they want to re-plate? Weird anyway. I may not choose this one compared to other Korean restaurant.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Ended up getting the pork combo for 2 ($90) and chose to get the aged pork belly, pork jowl and marinated pork short ribs. They give you a lot of banchan (side dishes) and they were good. The quality of the pork was really good as well. There was a lot of food for two people which I really appreciated. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The USDA Prime Rib Finger and Pork Shoulder were both delicious, but I think what makes this Korean BBQ restaurant shine is their accompaniments. His hot tip: this restaurant is BYOB, so hop into the liquor store (inside the Hmart complex) next door to grab some soju and beer before settling in for some grilled meats. There are some plated dishes on the menu but with grill covers in the middle of every table, it's clear this is a restaurant meant for Korean BBQ. The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. Since this is a full-service BBQ, our server came around frequently to grill, cut, or flip or meats. After all was eaten and done, it become mysteriously difficult to flag her down for our cheque. We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service. It's a shame because we loved this restaurant, but after tonight, we have no desire to return.
