Ban chan! (Partially eaten b/c we were so excited to try then)
Lise H.

Craving a warm authentic Korean food, we landed on BapEeRang with our large party with no wait on a Sunday night. The restaurant felt very homely and was run like a family restaurant. Most of the other guests spoke Korean. We were treated very well with great food and service despite none of us knowing Korean. The Banchan was really good - fish tofu, great kimchi, jalapeños with small fish, broccoli, and lettuce. We got the stir fried pork combo meal with kimchi stew, galbi combo meal with soybean stew, spicy octopus bibimbap dolpan (dolpan is a sizzling hot stone plate), seafood pancake, and budae jjigae (army stew). The food was absolutely fantastic - The flavor was there and my party had an amazing meal! The only thing I wished was if the army stew had tteobokki - Overall, we were very pleased with the value, quality, and tastiness of our meal. Better Korean food (and value!) than NYC Koreantown food!

Weird how it seems like the reviews are like Jekyll and Hyde here, as I've visited this place multiple times and never had a single instance of rude or service or lousy food. What I always love about coming here is not only the homey-vibe of the food, but also the consistency of it and the overall experience as well. For me this place checks a lot of boxes. The food as I mentioned is homey and well prepared. It's consistently good and the restaurant itself has always been very clean and a cozy place to grab a nice lunch or dinner. It's also not a huge place, so it doesn't get super crazy in here, which is nice for me at least as someone who enjoys a relatively quiet meal. I usually get the kalbi set with tofu soup, which are both tasty and the latter being just right, not too spicy not too salty. I've also had the seafood pancake here which is very good, as well as the brisket which is good but the portion is very big, so keep that in mind. The latter is better as a dish for 2-3 people for sure. I'm also a big fan of their very fresh banchan options. It's not some huge variety but they always have been good with refills. The servers here have always been very friendly to me and my family. It's hard to envision the folks who work here being rude to anyone based on the several visits I've had, but that's my own experience and I'm sticking to it. They have a small parking lot but it generally is enough to fit everyone since the restaurant itself isn't big but I always love how quaint and cozy it is inside. I think this is a nice neighborhood gem that's definitely worth checking out if you're into cozy homey Korean food.

If you are looking for a hot korean dinner that's healthy and satisfies a family dinner this is the place to go. We ordered the dogani tang, galbi combo, bibimbap on dolsot, and jaeyook bokeum. Dogani tang didn't need additional salt it was just right. The dogani was chewy and bite sized. Galbi was fire grilled to perfection. Bibimbap on hot stone plate was fresh. Jaeyook bokeum was well marinated. There was plenty of seating around 7pm. They have a parking lot but it's small. It looks like a cafe on the outside, you wouldn't know it's a restaurant until you go in.

Great restaurant serving an assortment of Korean dishes, which all felt comforting and homestyle. There's something about the kimchi here that I love, and their kimchi stew is also so thick and flavorful! I tried the raw spicy marinated crab here for the first time and ended up loving the spicy gelatinous pieces. Bibimbap was delicious - felt like a simple yet perfect comfort food. The small complimentary banchan dishes were also plentiful, and I appreciated that they gave a good amount to our table of two. Everything tasted fantastic, and I'd happily return for a casual lunch or dinner.

Another yelp find which hubster and I ended up trying since they allowed us to bring our dog for outdoor seating when we called to ask lol When we arrived parking was almost full and we were glad that the staff actually went out of their way to assist us finding a spot! They were very friendly and accommodating. When I checked the photos prior for outdoor seating there were 3 spots then but i guess now since we have indoor dining available, there was only one outdoor spot available. It actually worked for us since we brought our pup and it was like a little enclosure. For this visit we tried their seafood pancake and bibimbaps. The pancake was delicious as usual, and the banchans had very nice flavor. I enjoyed the kimchi very much! I liked that there was a hint of sweetness to it. For the bibimbaps both our orders of octopus and pork belly were very flavorful and delicious! Portions were very generous too! Everything we ate then was very enjoyable. We're glad we found this place and gave it a shot! Was definitely worth it!

loved bapeerang - stopped by as a weekend lunch after a night out and it hit the spot! the food: i recommend the gamjatang over all - the mukenji jjim was pretty good but small in portion, but the other stew was so flavorful and also the stew itself was spicy in a way that i haven't experienced elsewhere! the service: quick and kind! not much to say here. the space: pretty big and wasn't too busy when i came in

Marinated Crabs and Korean style pork with vege on stone dish Awaomes!!!

Authentic Korean dishes. Very very good. Specially their combo menu is value with taste more than the expectation. Serving very quick and everyone there smiles greet you very welcome. Bright and playing American rock !!! I would recommend to my kids - all my kids are over 30 years old. Ha ha ha.

Dolpan spicy pork rice to go
Eunice K.

Ordered the dolpan spicy pork. It was a little less than $20. I expected the restaurant to cook the rice and everything on the flat stone and then put it in the to go container but the rice didn't have any of that crispy ness that you'd expect from the flat stone hot rice. Food was okay. I would not order to go from here again.

Spicy octopus dolpan and jaeyuk bokkeum with deonjang jjigae and cabbage soup

I've been here ssso many times. If you like good Korean homey food, this place is for you. I tend to get the same thing with my bf to share . Jaeyuk bokkeum with deonjang jjigae and nakji dolpan which comes with a yummy cabbage soup. The food is amazing This place is also BYOB!

Side dishes.

I must say this was one of the better korean food I tasted in a while. The dangjang was probably one of the best in this area in my opinion. The banchan tasted very authentic and made by someone who is obviously experienced. So why the 4 star? I think many of the single serving dishes were more on the expensive side. Noodles 15$ , soups in the 15 range is kind of steep for a single serving dish for this area. Furthermore for the price of the dishes, if they provided more variety of side dishes, I wouldn't mind the price. Would I come here again? Probably, the food is that good and I want to try their other dishes and hope for better side dish

This was the first outdoor dining we have done since covid and it's the only place so far that we feel safe returning to. Their menu isn't huge but it's a well rounded amount of selections to choose from. The food is delicious without being overwhelmingly spicy. Side dishes vary, which is nice if you want to try something new each time. There's an occasional fly here and there but where there is food outdoors there's bound to be pesky insects. Service was friendly. Bathrooms are big and clean. They also have an additional sink right outside them if you don't feel comfortable during these times with public bathrooms. Definitely our go to place when we are in the area.

mandu

Atmosphere: Cozy, family- friendly place. This place attracted an older crowd on a weekday night. Seems like a if you know- you know spot! Food: The flavors of everything were amazing. The raw marinated crab was yummy, but the full portion was a bit much for two people. The mandu had an amazing fry. The kimchi stew was delicious as well. Service: They were friendly, nothing special though.

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Once I entered, was seated at a table, there was no wait. The place has a rustic Korean bbq vibe to it but also has random vintage items, like an old tv and old games and some modern items like claw games. Ended up getting the pork combo for 2 ($90) and chose to get the aged pork belly, pork jowl and marinated pork short ribs. They give you a lot of banchan (side dishes) and they were good. The quality of the pork was really good as well. There was a lot of food for two people which I really appreciated. My favorite from the pork was the aged pork belly or marinated pork short ribs, all were really good tho. The servers were excellent and were on top of all my orders and cooking everything perfectly. Ooooh, it's been awhile since my last review…read more After 4 years, I still love Wooga but those "$$$$" on the their Yelp page keeps me from eating here more often. This time around, it's a stronger 5 out of 5 because of our waiter was amazing. Ugh, I can't remember his name. He was on top of everything and making sure our food was grilled in a timely manner. He was quick to follow up with orders/requests that didn't come through when the kitchen didn't bring them out. Usually my gripe or disclaimer I give to people is that Wooga is great at everything except wrapping up things on the end. In the past, whenever I went, it would take forever (!!!!!) to get our check and pay. It was so frustrating but this time around, it was a bit faster. It's a win-win situation because we get to pay and leave and the restaurant has another table for customers. Though on the pricier side, Wooga does check off all the boxes of: -amazing meat quality -amazing & attentive service -they don't skimp on banchans (side dishes that I heard other restaurants are starting to limit) -several meat combo options -best Korean steamed egg in the North Jersey area We tried the thinly sliced oxtails, which were really good but pretty pricey for $38cash/$39.90card for 11oz of it. There are some things that are inconvenient (long waits, very small parking lot) but it's easy to overlook them once you have a meal at Wooga. Things to know before you go: -Their menu is updated on their website if you want to check that out before you go. -The earlier you go, the better your chance of being seated quickly. Weekends are definitely a longer wait, so plan ahead. -Their parking lot is small so it fills up super quickly, so you'll have to park across the street and play Frogger (maybe you might be too young to know this reference?) to cross the 4 lanes of Palisade Ave. -When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host/hostess so that you could get a pager to know when your table is ready. Your turn can come pretty fast sometimes depending on the timing.

The USDA Prime Rib Finger and Pork Shoulder were both delicious, but I think what makes this Korean BBQ restaurant shine is their accompaniments. That was clear when the Egg Custard came and we devoured it immediately. So fluffy, very eggy, and extremely smooth. In other words, maybe the best version I have had along with Nubiani. The banchans and stews were wonderful too. I know they have a Midtown location, but I still have not been to that branch yet. I hope its quality and service matches this location. I'll check it out soon.

His hot tip: this restaurant is BYOB, so hop into the liquor store (inside the Hmart complex) next door to grab some soju and beer before settling in for some grilled meats. There are some plated dishes on the menu but with grill covers in the middle of every table, it's clear this is a restaurant meant for Korean BBQ. The pork belly was incredible with decent grill-kissed char marks. The marinated beef was tasty but a little tougher than I prefer. I love all the free side dishes that came with our meat orders, especially the soybean stew and towering egg soufflé. Service is brisk and efficient..sort of. This is the sort of place where servers hover with their order pads soon after you settle down, expecting you to just know what you want. Since this is a full-service BBQ, our server came around frequently to grill, cut, or flip or meats. After all was eaten and done, it become mysteriously difficult to flag her down for our cheque. A side note about ordering: there's a two-portion minimum for meats. My husband and I don't eat much so we thought we'd split a single order of pork belly, but our server insisted we needed to order at least two servings.

We have always enjoyed dining at Daeji Ssonday in Ridgefield, but the rude and unprofessional behavior of our waitress completely ruined our family dinner. We were seated at the table directly in front of the far back-right table (when looking from the counter). From the moment we sat down, the service was hostile: Aggressive Attitude: As soon as we sat, she demanded our order loudly. When we asked questions about the menu, she answered with visible irritation. While we were briefly discussing options with our children, she slammed her notepad onto our table with a loud "bang" and walked away, startling both us and our kids. Negligent Service: She continued to be rude throughout the meal, literally tossing side dishes onto the table. Furthermore, the exhaust hood at our table wasn't working properly, causing the smoke from the pork belly to fill the air and make it hard to breathe. She didn't check on us until much later. Ruined Meal Flow: While we were still eating our pork belly, she came over and--without asking--scraped all the meat onto a side plate to clear the grill for the spicy squid. We had to eat cold, greasy pork belly instead of enjoying it warm off the grill. She never even asked if we wanted fried rice afterward and ignored our table for the rest of the night. We always try to treat service staff with respect and gratitude, but this experience was unacceptable. Despite our polite demeanor, we were treated with zero professional courtesy. If the manager or owner is reading this, please look into the staff working that shift. This waitress needs serious retraining in basic customer service. It's a shame because we loved this restaurant, but after tonight, we have no desire to return.
