Came here and the jokbal was sooo good. We got the half regular and half spicy and the spicy side was my favorite. Super flavorful and really tender, honestly perfect with a bowl of rice and all the sides. We also got the pork bone soup which was just okay to me. The pork was fall off the bone but just felt like something was lacking in the soup. Portions are huge so it's great for sharing. The banchan were really fresh and tasty too.
I'm extremely picky when it comes to pork dishes but the gamjatang/pork bone soup is made well. There's almost no gaminess. We want to check out the chicken feet next time we're here (table next to us got it and it looked good) We went on New Year's Day 1/1 and despite the heavy lunch rush, (whom I presume is) the owner seated a one person party since she was next in the call back list even though it would've been easy to fill the table with a 4 person table and bump her to later. It's nice to see places run by moral people. The owner and workers (looked like some family were helping out too) were nice and took care of us. Reminder this is a more traditional Korean restaurant where if you want something, you need to ask the waiter to come over - don't expect them to keep checking up on you. Spacious and clean restaurant. I liked the small touches (ie gold bowls and spoons)
SERVICE: 8/10 -Waiters were great and efficient when they were at our table -Was hard to get ahold of them though :,) -Note: there's a 3%(?) card service fee AMBIANCE: 7/10 -Just your standard Korean restaurant interior, clean and spacious but not particularly aesthetic FOOD Buljok Bossam: 8.7/10 -Buljok sauce was good, not too spicy -Bossam was standard, can't go wrong (can ask for fresh garlic to pair with if you want!) Gamja Jeon: 10/10 -SO good. Perfect crispy outside, 쫀득한 (chewy like rice cakes) inside. Would come back just for this dish! Gamjatang: 4/10 -Barely ate this bc was not my style :( -Watery soup consistency, not that spicy, potatoes weren't cooked in the soup for long so p bland, kimchi wasn't aged for long so also bland -Overall didn't have that aged/deep flavor I love about gamjatang :( Model example of good gamjatang is Tosokchon's (located in Palisades Park)
We came here after visiting Field Station Dinosaurs, which wasn't too far away. Originally, we were planning to go to BCD, but it was crowded, and I wanted to try the jokbal instead. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs -- we also ordered the seafood pancake, squid rice, and ox bone soup with tendons. The jokbal came out first, and while it was good, I found it a little on the dry side. The seafood pancake was the standout -- probably the best I've had so far, with huge chunks of seafood. The soup was initially served without salt and really needed it, but once we added some, it was much better. They were generous with the tendons, too. The best dish, though, was the squid rice, which sadly came last when we were already too full to enjoy it properly. Next time, I'd just order that and maybe the soup. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was even better. Unfortunately, my 2-year-old only wanted plain white rice, despite all the tasty dishes we had! A quick tip about parking -- don't make the same mistake we did! We paid for a street spot, but there's actually a large free parking lot for all the shops in the area. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the neighborhood.
When did they move?! I had no idea they relocated to the plaza where the BCD Tofu House is. The new spot is so much more spacious, super clean, and has plenty of parking since it's inside the plaza. So convenient! I went to pick up takeout today, thinking it was still at the original location, and that's when I noticed the sign had changed. I can't wait to dine in. The new location looks really nice! I got the regular Ugeoji Gamjatang. This has been my go-to gamjatang spot in New Jersey for a while now, and I've been back multiple times. For anyone curious, Gamjatang is a pork bone stew with dried cabbage and potatoes. It's amazing comfort food during the fall and winter, perfect for chilly weather.
I was born in the north, but I grew up in the south. If there's one thing that nobody can argue about it's that we know good food especially food that soothes your soul. If you're looking for soul food from Seoul (I'm sorry I had to do it at least once) then I'd highly recommend checking this place out. I'd argue that Gamjatang is Korea's true soul food and I've had it an unhealthy amount of times after drinking. This place does it excellently and the jokbal is really good too. Definitely more family friendly vibes than late night squabble with your friends, but don't let that detract you from checking it out.
It's a place you need to come back. The broth is light and flavorful, I love they put the snow fungus with the beef comtang ( beef soup ). It's a lot of meat and tendons are so soft and bounce. They'll refill the broth to your tang( soup hot pot). We couldn't finish the dish and we packed to go. They have the best take out container ( which is completely sealed) We need more people to come to eat for more dishes. Service is quite fast. They are quite busy, don't expect they refilled your tea without your call. Please let them know what you need and they'll do it for you.
Been to the new location and it is spacious and clean !!!! The best selections are still on the menu, such as gamjatang and the jokbal (pork trotters), but other choices are great too !!!!! We tried beef and tendon in clear broth for 2, and the portion was good - after which we could have porridge with the leftover broth. Highly recommend it.

Next to BCD Tofu house and sitting at the center of Fort Lee, Gamja Tang-tang is a great authentic spot that excels in its delivery of its two most popular dishes, 1) stew and 2) pig feet. The service is standard and perhaps what you would normally expect, the taste is great but ultimately what also takes the cake is the value you get from here especially as a sit down restaurant. The amount of food with both stew and pork dishes is more than plentiful and tasty to boot. Taste: 4.5/5 Service: 3.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value for money: 5/5 We had: 1. Seafood Pancake (Haemul Pajeon): This was very good, thick but unfortunately had a couple of overly charred notes 2. Banban Jokbal: This was a half spicy half normal pig feet dish, there are other renditions you could go for as well whether you would like more spicy or less spicy or other iterations, but this was a definite highlight and it fed 4 of us (a large version) 3. Vegetable pork bone stew: This dish is the definition of the feeling of eating at home, for those who know, will know, that this sort of stew is like a home stew and brings you back. That said, the pot is similar to that of a hotpot style pot, and comes with vegetables and pork bone already cooked and ready to eat. This pairs well with white rice. Overall a nice spot! If you bring cash you get up to a 5-7% discount, if you use card, you will be charged a credit card charge.
Super tasty Korean dishes! The menu is limited but it's great because they seem to specialize in what they make. The seafood pancake was loaded with seafood (mainly squid) and was so crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. The spicy pork bone soup with seafood was cooked so well. The broth was perfectly seasoned (so savory!) and tasted like they simmered the bone for a while to get the umami flavor. The restaurant itself is very new and clean looking. The decor inside is very warm and inviting. Would come back to try the bossam and other stews!
The food here was so good! The service was also spectacular. It's a great place for a quick meal or a place to hangout and have a nice meal with friends and family. Would definitely come back in the future.
Great food, great service, and like family style ambiance! Their bulkokbal is really good! Large portions! We also added gamja jeon and it was really good and crispy!

Came by on a Saturday night with 4 adults, 2 kids and 1 toddler and was expecting for a long wait time but the staffs were able to make space quickly. We were recommended by a friend and there was no disappointment. The only downside is there isn't enough stomach space. The food was so delicious, from the complimentary sides to extremely crispy seafood pancake to the jeongols. I was surprised how flavorful Suyuk Jeongols(Beef and tendon with clear broth and vegetables). I was so surprised because my 20 month old is extremely picky and refuses to try new food and he absolutely loved it. Greatly recommendation from the kind waitress that recommended us the dishes. So many people were ordering the Jokbal, unfortunately with what we ordered we were already so full which I'm so excited to try for the next time. The service was excellent. The parking lot is $5 for 3 but when you eat here make sure to get your parking ticket scanned so it would be free. read more

Really solid Korean spot in Fort Lee. The restaurant is surprisingly spacious inside, and we were able to walk right in with no wait. We got the gamjatang, along with jokbal (족발) and bossam (보쌈). The gamjatang was definitely the highlight. The broth was flavorful and comforting, with plenty of vegetables and pork. If you're a fan of gamjatang, this is a really good spot for it. The jokbal and bossam both had great flavor, but the meat was a little chewier than I expected. I personally prefer both to be more tender, especially the bossam. Still tasted great, just slightly off on the texture for me. Service was probably the weakest part of the experience. It was a little difficult getting someone's attention, and we had to flag down a waiter when we needed something. Overall, the flavors were on point and I'd come back for the gamjatang. With slightly more tender pork and more attentive service, this would've easily been a 5. read more

Came here on a rainy and man it was the perfect spot to try their pork bones stew with dried cabbage and potatoes. We got one to share with two people and the portion was enough. There were a lot of pork bones, but there is not much proteins in there. I feel like if you wanna order this dish, you might wanna add some extra meats for the proteins. I like the fish cake and radish from their banchan however, the kimchi tasted a bit salty for mr. The restaurant is pretty spacious and modern. I like their interior decor or wood theme. It feels cozy. The server were friendly. Would come back again to try their hangover noodles. read more

The food is pretty good. Not sure it's the best gamja tang in the area, but they have multiple varieties (& add ins). That's unique. Worth a visit or two. read more

We use to go to the original location which was probably 1/2 the size but they've moved to a new location with a lot of open space and tables. Interior is modern and comfortable. Service was prompt and efficient. They were busy on a Monday night even at 9pm. Food is a same as before - hearty and delicious. But I did notice they now put the bossam and jokbal over a fire and they no longer serve a Kimchi pancake. Overall a very good meal! read more
Took to go so can't speak of service outside of a short exchange with the staff upfront that gave us the order quickly and walked away. Busy spot, so they won't do much in the way of chitchat unless you're a regular, I guess? The Banban Jokbal (pork feet, spicy and not spicy half and half) was excellent flavor; could have been roasted a bit to make it slightly tastier and crunchy at the edges. The spicy chicken feet (bul dakbal) was just so-so. A tad on the spendy side, but definitely a good sample of different dishes that not a lot of restaurants do well. Big parking lot in the back center of the area; the restaurant itself isn't on the outside street side; you have to go to the elevated parking lot and you'll see it tucked in a corner (so Waze wasn't super helpful). read more
This restaurant relocated to a new place and ggl map is updated but uber is not, so make sure you get the right address if you order an uber :) Anyway, I think the quality might have gone down, or the jokbal in Korea is way too good that my standard for jokbal is now super high lol. I felt like it is not as good as before, but still better than many places here. The spicy one is quite spicy. Bossam and cold noodles are normal. read more
The gamja tang for 2 came with 2 white rice and it tasted very soothing and delish. The seafood pancake was amazing and it's definitely worth the price. Service was good here. It's a really nice place and I like that they're well lit. One tiny complain tho; heartbreaking K-drama OST songs were playing the whole time we were eating and it threw us off our appetite. read more

A new location for this Korean classic. Spacious room & table compare to 8 little table before 5/5. Easy parking Jokbal and bossam half & half. Pig feet is tender & good texture of taste 5/5 Pork bone hangover soup 5/5 The only draw back is the side dishes are very weak & small 3/5 read more
I have noticed that nobody has uploaded the menu for this restaurant for a long time. I took a picture of the newest menu and uploaded it. They have updated their menu and have taken out a lot of things. There is no LA Galbi. There is no donkatsu. There is no dak kalguksu (chicken noodle soup). There are no sujebi noodles, no flat noodles, no udon noodles, no glass noodles. Our very picky toddler for whom we were expecting to order noodles for had to settle for white rice. Anyways. This place specializes in two things - gamjatang, and jokbal/bossam. Gamjatang is a hearty pork bone stew with vegetables and potatoes. Jokbal is pork leg braised in a soy-sauce based sauce. Bossam is boiled pork that you can wrap in a lettuce wrap. We had the half jokbal - half bossam combo. It's a huge platter of meat. Absolutely delicious. Definitely enough for two people. The restaurant is nice and open, but gets very busy on Saturday nights. I will be back but without the kids. read more

Cindy was amazing server and as someone who is not privy to authentic Korean food I highly recommend still going bc they help you order!!!! It's so freaking good and clean inside! Pretty good place for home-made style Korean food. i've noticed the side dishes are quite different than other ones. Normally they offer broccoli, kimchi, tofu skin, etc. In this one they offer everything except the broccoli. No big deal tho I believe we ordered the Ban Ban Jokbal (half and half non spicy and spicy jokbal). It was very tender and delicious. The fatty portion was superb, quite like the tenderness and fattyness of it. I couldnt handle the spicy section, a bit too spicy... Also ordered the Gamja Tang Tang, which is the pork bone casserole with veggetables. It felt like home made, the broth was natural with no MSG, and the pork bones were delicious. The most delicious part would be the meat close to the bone which you would need to get gloves to suck them dry. Delicious! Definitely coming back to this place in the future : ) read more

Why did it take me so long to try this place! The jokbal here is so good, filled with flavor, soft and chewy. The gamja tang was also so homey and the meat inside was super soft as well. The jeon had an excellent crispy edge and didnt fall apart when picking it up. Don't miss out on the fried rice at the end of your gamjatang!! read more

Make sure you gather a group of friends as their dishes are all in gigantic shareable portion. ＊ Ban Ban Jokbal 반반족발 For the pig trotters we ordered half and half. Both flavors were immaculate and easily won our heart. The spicy ones were indeed more flavorful, but they might be too spicy for people with lower spice tolerance. The original one was well marinated with sweet soy sauce. I typically steer away from pig feet because of its gelatinous and fatty texture. This dish kinda reversed my impression on pig trotters with its tender meat, luscious fat layer and gelatinous skin. You can reduce the greasiness by wrapping the pork with lettuce and banchan. ＊ Mugeunji Gamja Tang 묵은지감자탕 We ordered the potato stew with aged kimchi broth. The hotpot had a hearty portion of pork backbones, potatoes and veggies. It was supposed to be the restaurant's signature dish, but it was less memorable compared to jokbal. I took away the leftovers, and it actually tasted better after a night lol because the meat was fall-of-the-bone tender and absorbed the kimchi broth. read more
I came in around 9 pm on Thursday night and was told the wait time is 35 min, so I ordered takeout instead. It still took about 20 min of waiting. Ordered Jokbal and Ojingeo (spicy squid) Dolaot Bibimbap. The pork leg was an awesome dish with great flavor and excellent texture for your taste buds. I did not try the famous Gamjatang since I did not get a table to dine in. Maybe next time when I am in town. read more

The best jokbal and chicken feet I've ever had! I am for sure coming back here just for their jokbal! The meat is so tender and the collagen parts so chewy and soaked in sauce! The chicken feet aren't too spicy in my opinion and the skin peels right off the bone! The hostess (owner?) was so nice and the food came out super quick. Their kimchi and radish side dishes were really delicious too! I'm definitely going to bring my whole family just so I can try the rest of their menu! read more

Tucked away in a quaint corner of Fort Lee, this Korean gem has limited seating, but packed with lots flavor! I came here on a weekday night and we had to wait around an hour just to secure seats for a table of 4. I would recommend reserving beforehand to get the best dining experience. The seafood pancake was a crispy delight, leaving every bite bursting with savory goodness. Don't miss out on their specialties: whether it's bossam or the hearty tangs (soups), each dish had super rich flavors! read more
Parking is limited but they have a little parking area which is nice Food is so good Gamja jeon (potato pancake)- soooo good :) Mukeunji gamjatang (L) and it was so good! And so filling. They give you extra broth and service was amazing!!! Ban ban jokbal medium- so good! I love the spicy but I do love the half and half option cus it's better for the table and sometimes you just want jokbal without the sauce Also got the rice after and yum!!!!! Service was soooo good! I went for lunch with 3 friends and can't say enough. I wish I remembered to take pics. I took pics of the spread of banchan lol and that was good too! They are moving to a new location shortly. We ordered a small gamja tang (#2) which was good. I just wish it was spicier. We also ordered a small order of ban Jokbal and ban bossam. Very good. Their smalls seem to run big. Can easily feed a party of 4 people. The restaurant is small and dated. So it makes sense that they are moving to a newer location. I will need to come back and try their new place. This place has a parking lot next to their restaurant. I hope they parking lot in the new location too. Quick tip: Bring cash. They give a 10% discount if you pay with cash. The owner and staff are friendly and attentive. Kinda curt but it's cultural. Accept it and place your order. lol The side dishes are good too! read more
