It's a place you need to come back. The broth is light and flavorful, I love they put the snow fungus with the beef comtang ( beef soup ). It's a lot of meat and tendons are so soft and bounce. They'll refill the broth to your tang( soup hot pot). We couldn't finish the dish and we packed to go. They have the best take out container ( which is completely sealed) We need more people to come to eat for more dishes. Service is quite fast. We came here after visiting Field Station Dinosaurs, which wasn't too far away. Originally, we were planning to go to BCD, but it was crowded, and I wanted to try the jokbal instead. Our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs -- we also ordered the seafood pancake, squid rice, and ox bone soup with tendons. The jokbal came out first, and while it was good, I found it a little on the dry side. The seafood pancake was the standout -- probably the best I've had so far, with huge chunks of seafood. The soup was initially served without salt and really needed it, but once we added some, it was much better. They were generous with the tendons, too. The best dish, though, was the squid rice, which sadly came last when we were already too full to enjoy it properly. Next time, I'd just order that and maybe the soup. Overall, the food was delicious and the service was even better. Unfortunately, my 2-year-old only wanted plain white rice, despite all the tasty dishes we had! A quick tip about parking -- don't make the same mistake we did! We paid for a street spot, but there's actually a large free parking lot for all the shops in the area. When did they move?! I had no idea they relocated to the plaza where the BCD Tofu House is. The new spot is so much more spacious, super clean, and has plenty of parking since it's inside the plaza. So convenient! I went to pick up takeout today, thinking it was still at the original location, and that's when I noticed the sign had changed. I can't wait to dine in. The new location looks really nice! I got the regular Ugeoji Gamjatang. This has been my go-to gamjatang spot in New Jersey for a while now, and I've been back multiple times. Super tasty Korean dishes! The menu is limited but it's great because they seem to specialize in what they make. The seafood pancake was loaded with seafood (mainly squid) and was so crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. The spicy pork bone soup with seafood was cooked so well. Busy spot, so they won't do much in the way of chitchat unless you're a regular, I guess? The Banban Jokbal (pork feet, spicy and not spicy half and half) was excellent flavor; could have been roasted a bit to make it slightly tastier and crunchy at the edges. The spicy chicken feet (bul dakbal) was just so-so. A tad on the spendy side, but definitely a good sample of different dishes that not a lot of restaurants do well. I have noticed that nobody has uploaded the menu for this restaurant for a long time. I took a picture of the newest menu and uploaded it. They have updated their menu and have taken out a lot of things. There is no LA Galbi. There is no donkatsu. There is no dak kalguksu (chicken noodle soup). There are no sujebi noodles, no flat noodles, no udon noodles, no glass noodles. Our very picky toddler for whom we were expecting to order noodles for had to settle for white rice. Anyways. This place specializes in two things - gamjatang, and jokbal/bossam. Gamjatang is a hearty pork bone stew with vegetables and potatoes. Jokbal is pork leg braised in a soy-sauce based sauce. Bossam is boiled pork that you can wrap in a lettuce wrap. We had the half jokbal - half bossam combo. It's a huge platter of meat. Absolutely delicious. Definitely enough for two people. The restaurant is nice and open, but gets very busy on Saturday nights. I will be back but without the kids. read more

I was so excited to finally try this place. I'm a huge fan of gamjatang and they did not disappoint. They give free refills on soup if you'd like more and we instead just got rice on the side but if you want at the end you can get fried rice added and they fry it up with the leftover you have from the soup base. Pretty good place for home-made style Korean food. i've noticed the side dishes are quite different than other ones. Normally they offer broccoli, kimchi, tofu skin, etc. In this one they offer everything except the broccoli. No big deal tho I believe we ordered the Ban Ban Jokbal (half and half non spicy and spicy jokbal). It was very tender and delicious. The fatty portion was superb, quite like the tenderness and fattyness of it. I couldnt handle the spicy section, a bit too spicy... Also ordered the Gamja Tang Tang, which is the pork bone casserole with veggetables. It felt like home made, the broth was natural with no MSG, and the pork bones were delicious. Why did it take me so long to try this place! The jokbal here is so good, filled with flavor, soft and chewy. The gamja tang was also so homey and the meat inside was super soft as well. Both flavors were immaculate and easily won our heart. The spicy ones were indeed more flavorful, but they might be too spicy for people with lower spice tolerance. The original one was well marinated with sweet soy sauce. I typically steer away from pig feet because of its gelatinous and fatty texture. This dish kinda reversed my impression on pig trotters with its tender meat, luscious fat layer and gelatinous skin. You can reduce the greasiness by wrapping the pork with lettuce and banchan. ＊ Mugeunji Gamja Tang 묵은지감자탕 We ordered the potato stew with aged kimchi broth. The hotpot had a hearty portion of pork backbones, potatoes and veggies. It was supposed to be the restaurant's signature dish, but it was less memorable compared to jokbal. New location Kitchen must've changed because the flavor is not consistent at all. Some days it is flavorful and some days it is the blandest thing you can have. The most important thing of any restaurant is consistency which is lacking. Service is ok, i wouldn't say it is average or the greatest but it is just ok enough. Their smalls seem to run big. Can easily feed a party of 4 people. The restaurant is small and dated. So it makes sense that they are moving to a newer location.
