My all-time favorite Italian hero in Northern NJ. Stuffed to the brim with meats and with a little drizzle of oil and vinegar, it turns into chef's kiss. This is the sandwich you buy when you have somewhere to go and you'll be gone for a long day as you can eat half and save the other half for hours later. It's that big! In addition to sandwiches, you can get prepared food items and throughout the store they have Italian shelf staples. I really enjoy their Arancini and they are also huge. Chicken cutlets are pretty good, but I personally prefer my own. There is no seating so this is definitely a to go store. read more

I've been here twice both times the bread was stale and the service was weird. First time not even close to having enough oil and vinegar so next time I asked for a little extra and I got daggers. It's okay plenty of other delis for me to go to this place just wasn't for me read more

Amazing! Haven't been in MANY years. The Italian sub was exactly as I remember. Delicious. In a time where places are shrinking their items and raising their prices, The Riv is true to its history and provides a great value on a huge sandwich. read more

Italian Riviera is the best Italian deli in Bergen/Passaic county. The imported meats are especially great. Their imported prosciutto and mozzarella sandwiches are crave-able, and they're big enough for two meals. Their imported prosciutto premade selections and soups are also excellent. The Riviera is often staffed with local young adults, which is also nice to see. They are a family business worth supporting. read more

Completely unimpressed. I ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich and received a single, bland cutlet that tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge--hardly fresh--and it cost $11. I also tried the Italian sandwich, which was mediocre at best. There are far better Italian delis in the area. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

Amazing deli/market with varied selection of pastas, sliced meats, and cheeses, and wonderful selection of pre made sauces, soups, meals. I've driven past Italian Riviera multiple times and have seen it reccomended in my Facebook neighborhood group numerous times. While I was not hungry, I decided to go in and at least check it out. I decided to order the fresh chicken and vegetable soup from a 4-5 soup list option (truly impressing)... there is a sign on the door that says Bergen County's best soups - you be the judge! I found it to be very good. Next time I go back, I'll likely order a pint of soup and a chicken cutlet sandwich. read more

Absolutely delicious, everything is delicious. Great hero's, soups, party platters, home made sauces, Italian sweets. Attentive staff, portions are great, prices are fair. The place is very clean. Try the chicken cutlet with their broccoli rabe on a hero roll. read more

I don't know a life without Italian Riv existing. I've been coming here since as long as I can remember (~30 years?). Subs + cold cuts are always a go to, but I love the little mutz ball salad as well. You can eat it in so many different ways and it's always fresh. The best of the best! read more

By far the best hero maker in this area. Food is fresh/ delicious, service is professional/ friendly and the prices are very reasonable for the generous portions they give. I get a fully loaded Italian hero every time, and every time I finish I say "that was the best sandwich I ever had". Don't think twice. Go here if you're hungry. read more

Wow! I heard so much about this place ever since I moved into town. Travel is limited right now so I can't help but be happy when I stepped in because it gave me flashbacks to the small grocery stores when I visited Italy. My favorite things that I got: Lobster Bisque soup, the RICE PUDDING (it's so light and fluffy), and these little cookies that I ended up having with my tea every day . I also got a mozzarella sandwich and a tuna sandwich for myself and my fiancé. Sandwiches were HUGE- just know that the small is already kind of big! They have a wide variety of Italian goods such as cookies, chocolate, pasta, oils, and vinegars along with prepared foods. I thought it was priced pretty fairly for what you get. I mean it's probably more expensive than Shop-rite but you're paying for quality, homemade, and imported foods, so I think price can be pretty subjective. read more

Old school Italian deli with deep roots in the community. Serious mozzarella, cold cuts, pastas and bread. One of the best in Bergen.

Best Italian combo in Bergen County. Soups are also top notch. Get the sweet peppers on your sandwich, you won't regret it.

Very good local Italian deli with reasonable prices. The classic Italian hero with roasted red peppers is a personal favorite. Looking forward to coming back and trying other items. They offer all sorts of Italian groceries as well. read more

One of the best sandwiches I have had in a long time... Fresh cold cuts & delicious bread. Lots of choices. The only thing I would suggest is not to impose a 4% charge on the customer for paying with a credit card! C'mon, who uses cash anymore? read more

Visited Italian Riviera Deli in Waldwick. This was my first time in the store and I was quite impressed. Great old school deli that has all the staples. They have great crusty bread, thinly sliced cold cuts, and even sausage. Pictured is their Italian Sandwich, I also bought some prosciutto Di Parma, fresh mozzarella, breaded eggplant, and a loaf of bread. All were good. If you're in the area you're in good hands. read more

OMG the BEST lentil soup I ever had! The Stromboli was amazing too. I always loved this place but I haven't been here in a while. It's just as great if not better than I remember!! Awesome food, thank you! read more

Great deli in Bergen County. The food here is awesome. They offer pre-portioned meals (like chicken parmigiana and mussels), homemade pasta sauces and soups, and a ton of different pastas. They have a salami and prosciutto case, which I love, Italian cheeses, including mozzarella, and awesome side salads (I'd definitely recommend the macaroni salad). I actually came here the past two Sunday's to grab subs for the football game. Last week I got roast beef with cheddar cheese on a roll, and this week a classic Italian hero. The quality of meat and cheeses were great, but the fresh homemade bread was what put these sandwiches to another level. Another nice aspect of this location is the grocery and produce products that they sell there. It's nice to be able to pick up some groceries while stopping for lunch, very convenient. All in all I was very impressed with the service and quality of food from this location and will be continuing to read more

I went to the "Riv" for the first time today and had a Combo. They asked all the right questions when they were making it. They have a lot of other offerings I'd like to try. This is a real Italian deli like I used to go to when I was a kid. Go to Waldwick and check this place out. read more

Italian Riviera - Great sandwich. The other food offerings they had there looked great too. We will go back again. - Cheese Shops Near Me - Waldwick, New Jersey

Always reliably good. Their subs are great but be warned sometimes they run out of bread as they are so popular! Highly recommend the rice pudding ! The best ever! Their soups are fabulous also. Grab some of the frozen ravioli with their addictive tomato sauce, garlic bread and some fresh mozzarella for amazing dinner. Place never disappoints. read more

Great little Italian bakery. Fresh mozzarella was great, and the cannolis were some of the best I've ever had. Definitely worth a visit.

Authentic Italian deli right here in northern Bergen County. Fresh ingredients and a friendly staff to add. I usually order the Italian hero with fresh mozzarella and it is always top notch. The eggplant is also very good. Their soups are also very tasty and I either like their Italian wedding or the cream of mushroom. read more

My favorite Italian sandwich shop in NJ, by a pretty far margin. It's the best way to go if you're looking for a real Italian coldcut sandwhich, as all the coldcuts are sliced fresh and done to your request. My go-to is typically prosciutto and spicy capicola, with lettuce, roasted red peppers, balsamic, oil, vinegar. It's money every time and I pretty much order it every single Sunday before football. Only downside, it's not cheap. But that's what you get with quality ingredients. read more

Cute little Italian specialty store. Knowledgeable about product and nice with a new and anxious customer!

Rude! Rude! Rude! First timer: went in for lunch thinking there were tables where you could sit and eat in. No such luck. Figured ok, I'd take it to go. Waited on line to give my order and the man who approached was so abrupt and rude. What do you want? is how he asked for my order. WTF - Who talks like that to a customer? He obviously knew everyone he helped prior to me as I heard him address all of them by name. I was taken back by his rudeness and just barked out what I wanted, but I would have to say I would never give them another dollar of my money nor would I recommend them if anyone were to ask about the area. Took a long time to make a hot sandwich, made me think the chicken was not made fresh and took time to heat from cold.. read more
