    Lobster Mac & Cheese Bites

We had lunch here yesterday. Our server was very nice and sweet. I thought pricing for seafood was very fair. Quality of seafood was fresh and our food was very good. The New England clam chowder was excellent as were our lobster rolls. Cute inside with two separate areas to sit. Clean. Parking on Bloomfield Ave, side streets, or the museum next door. I'd come back for sure!

We sat in the section down the steps and it was cold. The dishes were tasty- crispy onion rings, soft and crispy calamari and generous lobster on the rolls. But that brownie was a no for me. It was crumbly instead of soft. However, the hazelnut gelato was delish!

Extremely impressed with the ambience and decorum inside. You are greeted with a unique restaurant makeup with one classier dining area and one more casual location within the building. I love the vibes and the getup that Jacks is trying to display; it's very welcoming. The food is no different. It's delicious and unique and I honestly want to return to use a more formal and thorough dining experience. Loved this place!

We've been to Jack's Surf and Turf in Montclair so many times, and the lobster bowl keeps bringing us back--it's that good. The whole menu impresses, but that lobster bowl is simply unforgettable. The ambiance adds a nice formal touch without feeling over the top. Honestly, when we want great seafood with top quality, this is where we go.

I went to grab a lobster roll after seeing their $19 promo on IG. I took my dog with me in hopes we could have a nice dinner outside. I haven't been back since 2023 so apparently things and ownership has changed. When I opened the door they was white tablecloths on the tables, a little trio playing music. I was in shorts and had my dog haha I felt so out of place! For one, apparently no more outdoor dining. I went and put my dog in the car and decided I'd just get to go. You have to walk through the nice dining area to get to the more casual side. The owner was there and helpful, he went through the options with me and I ended up getting the lemon garlic butter roll, clam chowder and fries. $40 total The owner started talking to me about the changes they had made, very friendly and even offered to bring a table outside for me and the pup to eat at! But it was really dark, and the restaurant is on a corner. It took me 20 mins to get home, by then the fries were room temp and soggy - what can you do. But also there was a seasoning on them I didn't like, not sure what it was. The chowder was good, good chunks of clam and potatoes The roll - tbh, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. I can't put my finger on what it was but I didn't love the flavor - but someone else might. I should have just gone with original tbh. Overall the service was very friendly and the food is not bad but probably a better idea to stay and eat there next time.

If you're a lobster lover and seafood lover, this is the place for you. The lobster and oysters were super fresh and you have to try their lobster bomb. It's stuffed with lobster and lobster bisque. The lobster rolls were delicious and packed with lobster you get what you pay for here and I love that great quality.

This is my first time sampling Jack's Surf & Turf's takeout, a convenient dining experience. It is a culinary delight to eat the ample-sized lobster roll and mac' n cheese with big chunks of lobster. It is an excellent start to learning about Jack's Surf & Turf, and I will gladly look to dine at their Montclair location in the future.

An incredible find in Montclair, NJ. This NY born guy now living in Virginia was pleasantly surprised by the Connectict and Maine style lobster rolls here. Great wine selection too. Greg the host makes you feel like family!

-Ambiance was less casual than it seemed from pictures (which to me looked more like a "seafood shack" type vibe) -Food was decent but pricey: -1lb king crab: $70 per pound. side of potato wedges and boiled corn. good flavor but nothing special, just boiled well. -grilled octopus: tender but barely any flavor. Did not even taste grilled unlike all other grilled octopus plates I have had. Accompanying salad was good. -pan seared shrimp: good flavor with a little kick of spice. Would give it a 3.5. Overall it was good but it was cooked pretty basic so not much room error when boiling. Seems quite overpriced for the caliber. Would rather splurge elsewhere.

This place is nice and has great service. The seafood is fresh too. I had the Fried Oyster appetizer which was DELICIOUS. They were juicy and bigger than I was expecting. For the entree I had the fettuccine Alfredo with lobster with a side of ratatouille and I can see why people say the Alfredo is bland. However I've experienced this type of "bland" pasta at a real nice Italian restaurant before so I'm more forgiving. I do think they should have a "Cajun" option that provides more flavor and a hint of spice. As for the Ratatouille, I'm used to it being less chopped/crunchy and more "mushy"/soft so I probably won't order that again. On the other day I had the cod fish sandwich which was a bit underwhelming. I think the proper bread for this is a brioche bun instead of ciabatta bread which soaked up the tartar sauce and made it a bit dry. Anywho the service is excellent and I will definitely be back.

And, considering the quality, the value is pretty decent as well. A few recommendations. Prime rib, available only on Monday is outstanding. NY Strips and Rib Eye, are always a solid choice. The Steak Sandwich is absolutely incredible, trust me. Plus, their Pork Chop is amazing when its available. My only negative is that the dress code has become lax over time. I'm not a fancy guy. But for the first several years there was an upscale vibe and guests dressed appropriately which made the experience feel premium. Now it isn't all that uncommon to see guests wearing worn out tee shirts, sweat shirts, flip flops, cutoffs, etc. Nothing crazy, but a collard shirt and no flip flop code would be a fair. With all that said, I love this place and I think you will as well. Give it a try.

This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. The inside has both a main dining hall and a greenhouse, which feels like basically sitting on a covered patio with well kept shrubbery and ambient lighting. It's a neat balance of modern and open while still feeling cozy. I think my favorite dish is the ramp fava bean toast -- the umami from the purée balanced with the crunch of the toast and the brightness from the pickled ramps. I'd also recommend the steak two ways -- both cuts cooked perfectly to medium rare -- and the lobster linguine was delicately fragrant, buttery, and slightly acidic all at once. The chips and eggplant dip (kind of like hummus consistency) was kind of a fun, shareable starter too. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the ceviche or branzino our waiter recommended it. The branzino particularly came out a bit dry, and more of the tomato-olive-caper side or dressing would've helped. And while our waiter answered our questions, service felt a little more on the less attentive side.

We had high expectations for your restaurant, given its reputation, and the many times we frequent your establishment. However, unfortunately, several issues arose that significantly impacted our evening. We arrived for our reservation and began at the bar with a drink before moving to our table. (2-glasses of bar wine) We sat at the table and then ordered a second glass of wine, which took approximately 15 minutes to arrive--despite the restaurant appearing relatively quiet after 7 PM with only a four-tables occupied. When we inquired at the bar, we were told there were no glasses available, which should have been addressed proactively. Additionally, when reviewing the menu, we did not see a ribeye listed on the menu. We asked the server if there was one available. Our server explained that a ribeye was available for $85. We proceeded to order it (along with a salad, as no other green vegetable options like spinach was available). However, the server later clarified that the $85 price referred to a different steak, and the ribeye we received was priced at $199. This was at the time we received the final bill. This misunderstanding was not clearly communicated upfront, leading to confusion and total disappointment! To make matters worse, when the steak arrived, it appeared totally undercooked (essentially raw in the center), and by the time we addressed it and attempted to proceed, our accompanying mashed potatoes had gone cold. The meat never tastes correct when recooked after bring sliced!!!!!Overall, we felt the service and communication was unacceptable, leaving us confused and terribly dissatisfied. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to return yesterday. This time, I went alone. I was excited to go back, until the moment I walked in and was immediately asked whether I had a reservation. I said no. I was one person, and there were plenty of empty tables. Despite that, I was placed in a freezing corner by the door. It was uncomfortable and honestly unwelcoming. Nowhere on your website does it say "reservations only," yet that's exactly how I was treated. I felt so uncomfortable that I chose to leave without even placing an order. I walked in ready to spend money and enjoy a meal, and instead I walked out feeling dismissed. You lost a paying customer. What makes this worse is that I later told the same friend I originally went with, and she shared that when she calls ahead for a party of two, they simply tell her to come in because there are plenty of seats and that reservations aren't even required. So clearly, reservations are not the issue. That makes the way I was treated feel intentional and different. As a Palestinian who spends a lot of time in Paterson, I'm very familiar with Middle Eastern restaurants and pricing. Lentil soup is a staple on our menus. I know what a reasonable price looks like. For example, Kral Pide in Paterson charges $7. Charging $15 for lentil soup is excessive. It's not just high, it's outrageous. I'm extremely disappointed. I came back because I genuinely liked this place. Instead, I left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. I will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone, nor will I be bringing friends or family to this establishment again.
