Food: We ordered different appetizers and drinks, all delicious Service: Excellent Ambiance: Upscale and relaxing with amazing views in the patio

Came here to celebrate a birthday. The inside was nicely decorated and the atmosphere was lovely. The view of the city was a plus as well. Our server was very professional and helpful, waters were never empty and we got everything we needed. For appetizers we ordered the veal and fried calamari. The veal meat itself was dry and flavorless. The toppings were where most of the flavor came from. The fried calamari was nice and crispy. I will say that the fried lemon slices in there caught me off guard and I found it a bit jarring to bite into something so sour in between the other ingredients. I would have preferred if it was a hint of lemon or just a regular lemon slice to squeeze on top. For entrees we got a porterhouse and the lamb chops. We asked for both medium. When the porterhouse arrived it was clear that the meat was overcooked. It looked well done and was completely dry. We told our server who took care of the situation immediately. He apologized and had the kitchen remake it. The second one much more resembled medium. The lambchops were fine, although the orzo it came with lacked flavor. For sides we got fries and spinach. The spinach tasted plain. The fries were fine, I did enjoy the truffle sauce it came with. Finally, since we had a birthday in our group they surprised us with a candle and a dessert which was a fun. Overall, the service and the ambiance were the best parts of our experience here. However, there is improvement needed in regards to the food. If you want a nice place to chat and sip drinks while enjoying a city view then this is the place for you.

Came back after some prior misses from a service and food quality perspective. Was pleasantly surprised how solid the meal was on this return visit. If you haven't been here most come for the amazing views of the NY skyline and surrounding areas. Bar service was well executed as we both enjoyed our cocktails (watermelon margarita and a mezcal negroni). Appetizers were delicious - beet salad and tuna carpaccio. We got a NY strip and a black cod sushi roll that was high quality in taste and presentation. Dessert was a tiramisu that was not my favorite but ended a lovely meal.

I had the opportunity to enjoy The Highlawn as part of a team dinner. The atmosphere, service, and food are all top-of-the-line. They highlight their cocktails, and rightly so. I enjoyed a Sinatra, up, and it was just right. Our table enjoyed appetizers together, including meatballs and short rib. Really well-seasoned and tender. The wood fired filet is a treat, perfectly seared and cooked to the right temperature. Highly recommend. If you have the opportunity, take advantage of this wonderful place. It is choice.

One of my favorite bars. A lot of scheduled artist near the bar. You're always welcomed with a smile. The food is well seasoned and great presentation. Old school Upscale Resturant vibe. My go to is the mushroom pizza and a glass of champagne.

Had our anniversary dinner here. The service and view was unmatched. They gave us a nice card, free sparkling wine, free dessert, and sat us on a huge booth that sat 6 people. Two of us could sit comfortably facing the windows. Service was attentive and view was spectacular. As we were there for dinner, we could see the dusk and see lights coming on in NYC. As others have mentioned food was okay. Not great but also not too bad. Portions were overly generous. Some items were over salted. The pork belly was cooked dry early in the day and was not re heated properly. Anyway, I'm not sure food is the only reason you'd come here. For special occasions with a significant other I don't think this place can't be beat.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. The staff was very welcoming and the host was very attentive. The food was also delicious, I had oysters and calamari as my appetizers. For my entree the truffle chicken with garlic mash potatoes. Perfect temperature and seasoned well. This was my first time. My table was near the window so I had the best view of the overlook.

Seems like we've been year two years in a row for Mother's Day! The ambience never fails. The customer service and smiles are all over our hearts. It's beautiful, and exceptionally located with views of Manhathan. The food, the food the food! Seriously can't go wrong here, this is one of the best places to mange in NJ. We love it!

Not sure why the restaurant isn't busier because the good was very good. We split a cauliflower fritters appetizer, which was tasty and hot. It was a cross between breaded fried cauliflower and the Indian Gobi style. I had the mushroom burger, an 8 oz hamburger with mushrooms and sauteed spinach along with melted cheese. The meat was fresh and good. A big step above most burgers plus generous portions of sauteed onions and mushrooms along with melted cheeses. When I get my hamburger craving, I know where I'm going. The Butter Chicken Tacos were an unusual option. Based on Indian Butter Chicken, the national dish of UK along with Chicken Marsala, it was served in a naan with a side of rice. Really very flavorful and creative. The chopped salmon burger with mayo also comes with cheese, which was unexpected, but worked well. Service was prompt and friendly. The waitress and another wait staff person even moved furniture around looking for my grandson's red crayon. (He was sitting on it). Worth a visit even if you don't go have a craft bar or cocktail.

Lawd have mercy on my ears! The food was decent quality and largely portioned, but it was largely the same old Italian-American red sauce staples made by Spanish-speaking staff that you'd find at many "Italian" restaurants in NJ. - LK Caesar Salad: Eh. Limp lettuce, storebought dressing. No anchovies so not authentic, but I didn't expect any - Squid Ink Bucatini: Came with an okay amount of scallops and shrimp, and a skimpy portion of jumbo lump crab. Large, though, so I could have the rest for lunch the next day - Malfaldine Pasta: Points for the nice tomato cream sauce, but there wasn't much more to this besides the fun malfadine shape - Hen Of The Wood Mushrooms side: More like hen + shiitake. Lots of garlic flavor, but it was kind of drowning in oil. Service was okay, but like some reviewers have noted, it tended to skew young and green. Which was fine until things got LOUD and crowded--then we were waiting forever just to get extra water. I'd never been to Montclair before this dinner--but I have say I truly hope there's better Italian in this up and coming town.

Larry was very accommodating, and helped compose a vegan dish from the setup of another dish. He was considerate to recommend something that would feel "substantial" - something that I really appreciated. It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. I would encourage the chef to consider how the can apply their creativity to a dedicated vegan dish as well. There's a big world to explore in creating modern, high end, plant-based dishes and I think this restaurant would hit it out of the park ! :)

The dashi course was savory, rich and tempered well with the pickled spring vegetables, which kept the dish from being too heavy. The rye bread was pillowy and warm. The salted butter the perfect complement. For my first course I chose the beef carpaccio. It may have been my favorite dish of the evening. The beef was sliced perfectly, the salted crackled pork eaten with the beef and aioli were a lovely mouthful of textures and rounded flavor. The next course was a beet salad. The golden beets were just tender while still firm. For my main, I selected the Parisian gnocchi with truffle sauce. If I could have eaten all of the sauce with a straw I would have. The gnocchi texture had a nice slight crisp but the potato filling was a tiny bit overdone. The dish was very rich but somehow a bit fluffy. For dessert we tried both the rice pudding and the sorbet with chocolate ganache. The sorbet was a bit tart which went perfectly with the dark chocolate ganache. The service was excellent. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.
