    The pork chop
    Andrew M.

Was there last night for a business diner. The food was outstanding. I really liked the caesar salad and the pork chop was off the charts good. Cooked to perfection and so taste. Too full for the bagel bread pudding but I will definitely get it next time.

My boyfriend and I looove this place. The service is always great and the ambience is so romantic. The food is absolutely worth five stars. It's always so tasty and creative. Plus I dream about their olive oil cake at least once a week. My only lil complaint was that the portions (specifically the Valentine's Day prefix menu) were a little small for the price. But that won't keep us from coming back for a special night out.

A round white cake decorated with white roses and buds on top, with the word "Vogued" written in white icing on the surface. The cake is placed on a silver tray on a dark table, with a knife beside it. In the background, there are candles, a glass with a straw, and a container holding white plastic utensils. Outside the window, greenery and a sidewalk are visible.

We got a cake for our engagement party from Walnut St Kitchen and I can't see myself getting a cake from anywhere else from now on! In messaging back and forth choosing design and flavors, they were so personable, responsive and genuinely excited to be part of our day in this way. Our guests were stunned by how beautiful and delicious it was. May just be the best cake I've ever had. Love this place and the bagels next store are the best!!!

So I wanted to love this place because I was a huge fan of Corso 98, the prior tenant. Their chef bought the place and renamed and reinvented it. Still has the same lovely charm and delicious menu, although lesser choices. Here are the positives: BYOB, fun Montclair location, pretty, comforting and ambiance. The food was fine. Opportunities: Service was just okay. The food was fine but nothing stands out about at this price point. It ain't cheap. Again as I've mentioned in previous reviews, the customer aspect is crucial in these times. People are still concerned about going out so when they do they want to know they're going to get the best customer service experience along with some pretty amazing food to make it worth your while.

Fresh cavatelli with escargot, escargot cream, buttered parsley breadcrumbs. Side of sautéed wild mushrooms with sage and citrus.

My husband and I dined here for a day-after Valentine's celebration. Our 7:00 reservation allowed us to be seated right away. The playlist was stellar. It was all the music I grew up listening to as a kid, and it made me feel at home. McKenzie was our server and she was incredibly professional, kind, and attentive. The menu has so many great choices, but the specials shouldn't be slept on either! Here's what we had: Appetizers: -Brussels sprouts salad with sliced apple, marinated feta, roasted squash, candied pecans, quinoa and tossed in a vinaigrette - Kabocha squash ravioli in a braised beef and peanut ragu, crispy eggplant and a peanut-green bean crumble. Entrées: -Flat iron steak in a mustard-sherry au poive sauce, carmelized onions, and potato churritos -Fresh cavatelli in an escargot sauce, shelled escargot, topped with a parsley butter crumb - Side of sautéed wild mushrooms with sage and citrus Dessert: -Orange and cardamom olive oil cake, assorted coffee and tea. The food was stunning. Every bite was a hit and truly made with love. Such thoughtful flavor combinations and interesting applications, all the while cooked perfectly. We had the opportunity to speak with Beverly, and we learned so much about her passions for the industry and the pride she has for the products she creates. We will certainly be back again and again!

    Center cut pork chop!

We finally made it to Walnut Street Kitchen for dinner this past Saturday night and had an amazing experience!! First off we were lucky enough to be seated in Mona's section of this beautiful dining room and could not have asked for better service! Her knowledge and recommendations on the dishes was so on point! We will definitely ask for her section in the future! There were so many great choices I think we over indulged on the appetizers and they were all so unique and delicious ! The Lump Crab seafood cake was my favorite! We are quite the foodies and my fiancée who is also as an excellent "home chef " and super picky ordered the Center Cut pork chop and he cannot stop taking about how perfect this chop was!! So tender, juicy and easy to cut! Thankfully the portion was large enough that he shared ..lol! From the appetizer to the deserts everything was made with the highest quality of ingredients ! It was really hard to narrow our choices so of course we will be heading back there very soon to try out everything else ! Chef Beverly herself was very visible in the dining room throughout the night which really says a lot about making sure her customers are truly enjoying her creations! We were lucky enough to have her stop by our table and chat which really made our meal even more special! Sadly my pictures do not do the meal justice but trust me....Fabulous!!

My husband and I came here last night for our first date night and everything was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL! From the service to all the dishes we ordered, everything was TOP NOTCH. You can tell the chefs really put a lot of thought and time into curating such unique and tasty dishes. Highly recommend the pork chop! & the specials all sounded amazing too! The bakery next door was a great addition to end our night with some sweet treats to go. The flourless heart shaped cakes are DELISH! I will definitely be back to this amazing restaurant!

    Gnudi
    Georgina S.

The gnudi was like a brick. Gnudi is supposed to be light and airy and it was super dense, more dense than ricotta, which was odd. On top of that, it wasn't hot and the sauce broke. I was also witness to someone else sending a dish back and one of the staff was really argumentative and aggressive. It was unpleasant.

Moments later, we were in the capable and charismatic hands of Maya, our server. She brought not just efficiency, but real joy to the table: quick wit, a warm and friendly vibe, and an infectious passion for the food that made every recommendation feel personal and sincere. Hospitality like hers elevates a meal from good to memorable. We began with the Caesar salad, and it was exactly what a Caesar should be: crisp, balanced, and perfectly executed, with that ideal punch of garlic, anchovy, and Parmesan. No missteps here this was textbook excellence. Next came the meatballs, and they were glorious enormous, tender orbs that instantly transported me back to Sunday dinners at my grandmother's table. Generous in size and soulful in flavor, they were everything you want in a classic Italian meatball. The accompanying tomato sauce was nothing short of velvety luxury: smooth, rich, deeply savory, and so delicious I found myself sneaking extra spoonfuls just to savor it. On a whim, I requested a side of the short rib ragu, and it proved to be one of the standout moments of the night. Braised to fall apart tenderness in what I can only describe as an osso buco style preparation, it mirrored the kind of slow cooked, soul warming short ribs I make at home only better. The depth of flavor was top notch, luxurious without being heavy. For the main event, I went with the chicken Parmesan, and let me tell you; it was the bomb-diggity of chicken parms. Massive in portion (honestly, almost comically large), it arrived golden and crisp on the outside, juicy within, blanketed in that same magnificent tomato sauce and a generous snowfall of melted cheese. Every bite was pure comfort and satisfaction. Congratulations to the kitchen this is how chicken Parm should be done. A lovely surprise came when the chef himself stopped by the table to say hello. That personal touch, combined with the restaurant's charming ambiance lush hanging vines draping overhead like a cozy Italian garden created a wonderfully inviting and relaxed vibe that made the whole experience feel special. I left with generous leftovers, already plotting to pair the short rib ragu with fresh pappardelle pasta at home. From the warm welcome to the passionate service and soul satisfying plates, this was a thoroughly wonderful evening. If you're craving authentic Italian American comfort food served with heart, this place delivers in spades. Highly recommended.

The calamari was by far the best. It was crispy and thick and seasoned well and the sauces were delicious. There were some fried onions in it that were flavorful too. For dinner we got the pork shank which I think was a special, the mushroom ravioli, the eggplant pasta with red sauce and the branzino special with veggies and a sauce. The mushroom ravioli tasted a little like mush to me and I was not a fan of the mushroom flavor. The eggplant pasta was delicious and it came with burrata that melted nicely into the pasta. The pork shank was tender and delicious. The branzino was the star for sure, it was flavorful and delicate and paired well with the sauce and the veggies. The clams were served on top of a bed of focaccia bread. While it soaked up all the sauce and flavors, I'm not sure if I want all my bread to be soggy from the get go.
