    Grilled Salmon

The ambience of this restaurant is definitely cute. Would be great for date night. The service however, was very slow. Our waitstaff was very sweet and very kind, everything just took forever. I felt the food was extremely bland and I didn't finish it. My colleague felt the same and ultimately I would not go back. I got the Arepa sliders and felt there was really no flavor and I needed hot sauce. All they had I believe was Tabasco. For dinner I have the salmon and I just couldn't get through it. It was so bland I couldn't take it.

My husband and I came for dinner with a reservation on a bustling Saturday evening. I could tell that it was very busy since it took a while for the server to stop by the table and the water was served in wine glasses. I ordered The Red Wedding (hendricks gin, tart cherry juice, apricot liquor, lemon juice, prosecco, glitter, maraschino cherry, flute) which was delicious but was served about 1 minute before the entrees so there was not much of an opportunity to enjoy it. For my entree, I had the short rib served with cheesy grits and collard greens. I enjoyed the grits and greens, but the short rib was overcooked and not tender. My husband's burger tasted delicious and made me wish that I ordered it instead. For dessert, we had the creme brûlée, which was served a couple of minutes after ordering it. At first I was surprised at the quick service, but then I was underwhelmed since the dish was completely cold. It seemed as if it was sitting out for a while, so that was disappointing. Since my husband and I had different experiences, I would be open to returning and hope that we both get to enjoy a delicious meal.

Bustling and vivacious! It's a struggle finding food in the suburbs that compares to restaurants in New York City proper, but this place does a great job with the overall vibe, menu variety, and fresh ingredients. It's easy to make reservations and there's a fun bar area for grabbing a drink and hanging out. Their menu includes standard bar "staples" like hamburgers and mozzarella sticks. It includes more Mediterranean dishes like deliciously-flavored guacamole mixed with pomegranate seeds and chopped olives. And it has a great dessert menu such as baked cookie dough mixed with vanilla ice cream on top, among other items. The staff seem to work hard for serving the food on-time despite the bustling nature of having many customers dining in. The salmon dish tasted great, coupled with Parmesan-flavored couscous and grilled vegetables. The guacamole also tasted delicious. even though the combination of pita chips and tortilla chips felt awkward. Overall, it was a great dining experience and would highly recommend visiting this spot.

Had an amazing time here celebrating my mom's retirement. The restaurant was able to accommodate us on a very last minute situation. However, the smile of my mom's face made it all worth it. The food was amazing. That ambience was very welcoming. Can't wait to be back here. I just heard about this place recently and I can't wait to try more items on the menu with my family.

Me and my girlfriend stopped in recently to grab a drink and an app after enjoying the day in the nearby towns. Upon entering the music was blasting but one of the waiters came over and asked me if it was too loud after seating us and I said, yes, a bit too much and he turned it down. That was nice of him considering I couldn't hear myself think. lol. It's a vibey spot and everyone there seemed happy to be working there. Our waiter was kind and his service was great. I ordered us a bottle of sparkling water to get started and then The Red Wedding cocktail for me and a Rumbunctious for her. They were both super tasty. We also ordered the crispy sticky calamari and it left little be desired in the tasty department. It was not crispy, but more like soggy. I had no idea it came with sauce all over it instead of on side or I would have told him to put the sauce in a condiment cup. The service was great, the atmosphere was great, the drinks were great, but the food we opted for wasn't. I'll be back again, but rest assured I will not get that fried calamari again. Enjoy :)

Service was great last night, but the food and cocktail left me disappointed. The tuna tartare had the consistency of my cat's wet food. I like when tuna is chopped a little rougher, this was really like a puree of tuna. The avocado was equally over puréed and together it was just mushy on top of mushy. My recommendation would be to fix the texture.. the three chips weren't nearly enough for the amount of tartare. They should be bigger or give you a few more crackers to eat the tartare with. The cocktail was so strong and imbalanced it tasted like our pathetic attempts at cocktails in college. Too strong, no clue what we were doin, ratios off. That's what my drink tasted like. I wouldn't get a drink there again, nor get the tartare. Perhaps the other dishes are better. My dining companion had what was essentially an old fashioned which came in a martini glass, which seemed a bit peculiar. Stick to classics. Ambiance was nice , but there were only two tables (ours included) dining in the main dining room on a Thursday night. Maybe they are busier on weekends

My first time at MoonShine was on a Friday night with a group of 8. I had been referred by a friend who highly recommended it, especially for a girls night. The praise included a diverse menu and affordable, interesting cocktails. Enough said! The signature cocktail menu was extensive, and if you can't find something you'll enjoy, the bartenders can probably make you anything you want. There is separate bar and bar seating from the dinner/meal service, which backed up the drink orders on a Friday night. Definitely plan to order your drinks first while you check out the food menu. We ended up getting a variety of bar bites and appetizers to share, with some entrees including the cajun chicken, burgers and chicken sandwiches. The sandwiches were all great, and the table lived the burratta, calamari, and shrimp cocktail appetizer! We wished we had room to taste more of the menu! The only negative comment on the food was the caesar salad dressing does not include anchovies, and instead is included on top as a garnish. Avoid if it's not to your taste. Aside from the surprise of the caesar salad, everything was delicious, and very well cooked. The ambiance was beautiful and swanky, without being over the top. It definitely felt like an elevated evening, and was so much fun for the group!

What a fantastic date night spot....have been meaning to come to try for awhile now..for food and the dj..but I can never stay up late enough lol! As soon as you pull up you feel the sexiness of this place..dark..mysterious..perfect lighting... drinks were on point..dirty martini and old fashioned...my husband had the parmesan wings and loved them.. I had the short rib over mashed w broccolini...super fork tender.....just delish. My boys had the burger and chicken sandwiches...both raved about them. I really wanted to try the bread pudding but I could not breathe..lol boys passed too which was a first..def be back!....loved our server too!

Ask the Community - MoonShine Modern Supper Club

Thinking of coming here for my 40th. I have eat here before and we loved it. My questions is geared towards the lounge. What time does the music start? what kind of music do they play and how is the crowed? Thank you in advance.

Is a reservation required for early dinner? Also is there a bar?

Yes to bars; and reservations are required on certain nights. Suggest you call in advance but don't worry about showing up without. If no availability, there are other places in walking distance, but moonshine is by far the best!

Are there restrooms on the second floor/loft?

Hi! There are two bathrooms up there.

My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.

Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. The inside has both a main dining hall and a greenhouse, which feels like basically sitting on a covered patio with well kept shrubbery and ambient lighting. It's a neat balance of modern and open while still feeling cozy. I think my favorite dish is the ramp fava bean toast -- the umami from the purée balanced with the crunch of the toast and the brightness from the pickled ramps. I'd also recommend the steak two ways -- both cuts cooked perfectly to medium rare -- and the lobster linguine was delicately fragrant, buttery, and slightly acidic all at once. The chips and eggplant dip (kind of like hummus consistency) was kind of a fun, shareable starter too. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the ceviche or branzino our waiter recommended it. The branzino particularly came out a bit dry, and more of the tomato-olive-caper side or dressing would've helped. And while our waiter answered our questions, service felt a little more on the less attentive side.

The employees don't walk the floor ... there are lots of young-ish employees sitting at desks who have all the personality of robots. Seriously, after interacting with a few of them, I wondered if the store was closing because they seemed so put out to talk with me. The cashier was the same way. The upper level is where all the liquor is ... a very good selection. Not quite Total Wine ... They had very few rum brands and very few bottles of good gin. They did have a few bottom-level allocated items ... but no Forteleza, Pappy, Weller, etc. The markup was also incredibly high ... $150 for a bottle of Old Fitz 7 Year old bourbon. That's $70 at Total Wine. I left with a few cheap bottles at a very good price ... but they didn't have a lot of high end wines for purchase. Mostly $12 - $25 on the shelves. They had some 'special wines' they were pushing hard, showcasing a 96 point scored wine they claimed was $100 but marked down to $30. The 96 rating came from James Suckling (the biggest scammer in wine ratings) ... after a little googling, I saw that the average score was 92 and no other stores seemed to carry this. It was just okay. I was very disappointed they didn't have much Bordeaux and what they did have was a mish mash of average vintage years. Overall, I think I will skip coming back. It wasn't really anything special in terms of prices or selection. The little high end international grocery store and cheese shop was pretty cool though. There's a place called Gary's Wine about 20 minutes away, which I like a lot better.
