The Carriage House Restaurant is literally steps from the PaperMill Playhouse. Great to stop in prior to a performance. The atmosphere is best described as "cozy and rustic". I've stopped in about 2-3 times for drinks and appetizers. The food has always been very tasty. Little on the pricey side. On a positive note, you're only a few steps away from the theater. As of now, I've had Chicken Sausage Appetizers and a Steak Quesadilla. Nice wine and cocktail list. We've enjoyed their wine and cocktails on a previous visit. In December '23, I had an issue making reservations. Left two telephone messages and never received a call back. I couldn't even make a reservation on Opentable or Resy. We stopped in and informed the hostess of the issue. Anyway, we ended up eating at the bar. The Carriage House Restaurant does offer Cabaret and Murder Mystery shows.

We came to attend a dinner show. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and the dinner. Wait staff was wonderful. Food was hearty and delicious. It was a prefixed three course menu as part of the dinner theater. A quaint establishment with hidden private rooms. Very nice location and plenty of parking.

We were here for jazz piano. The ambience was great, a bit chilly and could have used some heat lamps. The food is unremarkable. We had chocolate mouse which was good, penne pasta which my kid ate with homemade pesto, pizza, and a burger. My child ate the pesto and the pizza and he is super picky, so thumbs up to that Frankly the burgers took forever (about an hour after we sat down) to come out and the restaurant was half empty. The entertainment made up for it. The place is sorta kid friendly with connect 4 and bean bags outside.

Perfect place to go for a pre-show meal. The food was great, the wine selection was great and the waiter and staff were very friendly and attentive. I started with the shrimp cocktail - the shrimp were huge and very fresh, the cocktail sauce nicely seasoned (tasted homemade). Next I had the Wagyu Beef - it was delicious but the highlight for me was the puree and brown sauce/gravy...I believe it was potato and root vegetables. It was the creamiest, lightest, most delicious version of mashed potatoes ever! For dessert I had the chocolate/vanilla mousse - the flavor was good but the texture was not as "fluffy" as I like my mousse. Next time I'll try a different dessert. The play Gun&Powder was great too, so starting off here made for an all around wonderful evening! Highly recommend for theatre goers!!

No matter where you sit - you'll have a great evening.

We attended Brookside Cabaret night, where The Carriage House provides dinner. It was a wonderful evening outside with pretty delicious offerings and excellent service. We chose the table in the back and loved our time there. The Caprese salad (too many soggy croutons- and btw - why add those?) and green tomato gazpacho apps were ok. Our main courses were quite delicious- pork chop and skirt steak hoagie. The key lime pie was the winner for dessert. The chef greeted every guest and visited each table, which was a nice touch. I would return for another cabaret night.

The perfect place to go for lunch before a show at the Papermill Playhouse! We went before the Great Gatsby Musical and they had wonderful themed cocktails and a great prefixe 2 course menu with options to add on dessert! We got the Dazzling Daisy and the Bees Knees cocktails, both delicious! I had the Moroccan Roasted Red Pepper Bisque and Steak & Mushroom Pot Pie which were both fantastic! I am still thinking about that pot pie, it was like a warm hug! We then added on the themed "Gatsby Gateau" a Chocolate Flourless Pistachio cake, SO DECADENT! The waitstaff were extremely nice and the chef came by to check in on us as well! I can't wait to come back!

Most people just come here before/after a show because it's attached to the Papermill Playhouse. I came before a matinee show. They only have a pri fixe menu unless you sit at the bar. Honestly, the food was good but I was not blown away by anything. For $30.00 per person (lunch), it is a good value. The portions were a nice size. You can choose an app, main and dessert. Coffee is included with the dessert. They have a different menu per season. The boneless pork ribs were good. I was just underwhelmed with everything. I did not like the set up of the restaurant. They basically sat us on top of another table just to get more seating in. I would not come back. There are better options in downtown Millburn.

The Millburn Standard in Millburn, New Jersey, has officially earned a spot on my list of places worth revisiting! On my first visit, I enjoyed the street corn, a beautifully presented dish with bok choy, and some delicious lemon drop cocktails. Everything was flavorful, beautifully plated, and definitely made a great first impression. The lemon drops were a perfect addition to the experience! Fast-forward to my second visit, and I was back for more! This time, I ordered the French onion soup, which arrived with that gorgeous golden, melted cheese on top. Rich, comforting, and exactly what I was craving! I also had to order the Thai calamari again because clearly, it made an impression the first time around! Crispy, flavorful, and tossed in a delicious sauce with just the right amount of kick. Definitely one of my favorites! And of course, I couldn't leave without enjoying a latte! Beautifully served, creamy, and the perfect way to round out my visit. Anyone who knows me knows I appreciate a good latte! What I love about The Millburn Standard is the variety of dishes, the presentation, and the inviting atmosphere. It's the kind of place where you can enjoy cocktails, share a few appetizers, or sit down for a comforting meal. Two visits down, and I'm already looking forward to a third! If you're in the Millburn area, this spot is definitely worth checking out. And take my advice: don't skip the Thai calamari or the French onion soup! Yelp Elite approved!

The Garlic Knots are so delicious; the knots are so fluffy and soft though firm like chewing savory (more so texture wise) cotton candy that does not dissolve. With every bite, flavoring seems to improve, especially with the soft though thicker than thinner more savory than sweet tomatoe-ish sauce. From my order experience, the mozzarella after flavor lingers with the garlic after flavor for about 30 and 40 hours. Yum, though I prefer the garlic more so than the mozzarella, all quite tasty. The establishment accepts different forms of payment. The establishment connects with a neighboring eatery, by way of a mid way pass, and both establishments offer different selections. Between both establishments are a variety of eating options, though one may need to ask about where is suitable to eat between the two, if ordering between the two. Each separately offers distinct seating options.

They menu has all of the Italian classics - pasta, meatballs, pizzas, salads, parms, etc. For an app we started with an order of two meatballs. These were absolutely massive, so flavorful and came with a large dollop of ricotta. We also tried some super cheesy rice balls which were chefs kiss. The chicken parm was pounded thin and delicious, and the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage came with a massive portion. Also an honorable mention for the bread basket which was overflowing with fresh and hot seasoned bread. Service was speedy and friendly, holiday decor was cute and there is a full bar. Millburn has an abundant amount of Italian restaurants, and I'm glad we didn't overlook Joey's!

I will say that since it is an actual train stop there is plenty of free parking across the street. We arrived without reservations but they had tables outside and since it was still a fairly warm evening, this worked perfectly. There are two dining areas inside the building with limited seating. The waitstaff is very friendly and engaging. Once again the right amount of attentiveness to let you enjoy your meal. The menu itself has a large amount of options but their specials ruled the evening. The pricing is pretty much on par and fair the quality and presentation of the meals. That's why I was actually excited and hopeful to find a restaurant in Garwood that might offer a similar experience. Unfortunately, our first impression left a lot to be desired. We arrived without a reservation and were told by the maître d' that there would be at least a two-hour wait. While I understand that restaurants get busy, the way the information was delivered felt unnecessarily dismissive. We were then directed toward the bar, where we attempted to find a place to sit. Just as we were about to sit down, the owner told us that those seats had been reserved for someone else. We went back to speak with the maître d', but the interaction and attitude at that point were unpleasant enough that we decided to leave. To his credit, the owner ultimately offered us a table outside, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, by then, the overall experience had already left us feeling unwelcome, and we decided it wasn't worth staying. I'm sure the food may very well be excellent, and perhaps we simply caught the restaurant on an off night. But a great dining experience starts well before the food reaches the table. There are plenty of restaurants where I'm happy to spend my money, and I don't expect special treatment--just basic courtesy and hospitality. Hopefully others have a better experience, but based on ours, we won't be returning.

The salad was one of our favorite parts of the meal as it was rich with mixed flavors which complemented the chicken.
