Finally came to the Eataly restaurant and wow - I'm blown away. From the ambiance, to the service, to of course the pasta, it was all perfection. I always crave a crisp coca cola, and Eately's brand is absolutely phenomenal. The menu is large with all kinds of pastas, pizzas and much more. They do offer a $25 lunch price fixe that comes with two courses. I wanted pasta, so this offering didn't really make much sense for me. They have plenty of pasta options for course 1, but for course 2 you can only get rice, potatoes or focaccia. I do wish they had some kind of green or salad option here. Pasta dishes are around the same price as the lunch special anyhow. The cacio e pepe was divine. Silky, creamy and perfectly al dente noodles. The lunch portion is perfectly sized too. Fettuccine alfredo comes out in a cheese wheel which is always fun. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything here. Eataly really just knows how to do it right. read more

The dining options at short hills are limited, and Eataly is probably the best option. I've always found the food at Eataly to be tasty and consistent. Maybe I'm just ordering the right thing? The pomodoro pasta is one of the best I've ever had. This sauce is really delicious and complex. The pasta is really nice quality and al dente. Very good. Recently we came for brunch and it was just ok. The eggs with asparagus, ricotta and pancetta - We asked for a soft scramble (not soft). They had sliced raw asparagus tossed in little olive oil on sliced bread... needed to be more than just that. It would have been a lot tastier if they seasoned the ricotta and toasted the bread. Still, I like coming here and it's a great restaurant for a mall. It's also easy to bring kids here which makes it very convenient! read more

We were seated on time in the short hills mall in a beautiful booth. First thing that I noticed was we couldn't hear a thing. The noise level was off the chart. Not a plus when our friendly server had a hard time taking our orders. We ordered a salad and bread to start. How fun that my nephew was able to order a heart shaped pizza!!! We all opted for the pasta dishes. The pizza arrived first, then lasagna, pasta dish, then salad, fettuccine swirled in Parmesan wheel... and finally the bread. First of all... we expected the appy type stuff first... as was requested. Secondly, each dish was a few minutes after the next which made it awkward on whether to start eating or wait for everyone to have their meal. Lastly, the stylish, oversized bowls and dishes really didn't fit on our table. Food was spectacular... but would really appreciate the first courses arriving first... What a great little gem in the short hike mall in NJ. We came in for a drink but Darwin was such an amazing server that we continued to eat and drink wine. If you want a place to eat real Italian food, this is the place. You will not be dissapointed plus have tons of different wines. Darwin knows very well the different options and it's extremely helpful. He is not a quick server and that's it. We ended up with their delicious bread, pizza and even brought two bottles. Stopped in the restaurant area (Eataly Ristorante) - the table tops are small and they gave the four of us a small one by the bar. The burrata was good, and the funghi wasn't bad though a little on the tasteless side (needed a bit more pepper or salt, it was really just grilled in some olive oil and parsley). Salumi e Fromaggi was a charcuterie board - cheese was good, grapes were dusty. The calamari was far overcooked as they had a new person working on it and it was served far later than the rest. We came here during the summer when they had a price fix summer special. The service was slower than we expected and it too terribly crowded. Our server was friendly. The food was only okay to be honest. My pasta/pesto/shrimp was like they didn't any salt at all. And there was no salt on the table. The bill for 3 people on the price fixe was over $200. Seems over priced for what you'd get. I'd give it another shot off the full menu I suppose but its a hard sell for me. Of course they put an Eataly here after I moved away! Anywho, we finally got to try it during some holiday shopping this weekend. Note we did not go to the restaurant, so this review is only for the market and pizza counter. They did a nice job with a small space and definitely recreated some of the vibes from the more extravagant NYC locations. Panetone prices in the market were outrageous but i bought one anyway. I'm a sucker what can I say. We got two sandwiches and four slices of pizza for two adults and one toddler. Definitely too much food but we wanted to sample a lot! The trecolore pizza was my favorite because it was slathered in stratchiatella with fresh arugula on top. The cotto sandwich with bright yellow tomato was to die for even if the bread was a little tough. The mortadella was a disappointment because it felt mostly like eating foccacia with whifs of filling here and there at the edges but the center was packed. The soppresata pizza was forgettable and I didnt care for the margherita. And look, we ate every bite but with the prices they are charging my judgement is higher! Next time I would only grab one slice or one sandwich to share. The coffee counter looks fabulous though and I would love to try the frozen espresso drinks! read more

While it's the best food option in the Short Hills mall, I still won't be rushing back unless I happen to also be shopping near there. I ordered the eggplant panino, the caprese panino, and the zucchini pizza. I was REALLY excited to try the zucchini pizza, however it was not very flavorful and I found it to be very heavy and oily. The caprese panino was similarly lackluster, and I make better ones at home. The eggplant panino was very delicious but the bread seemed deep-fried, and the whole sandwich oozed oil with each bite I took. Overall it was decent for a quick mall stop, but the prices did not reflect mall food prices. However, the service was lovely and the man behind the counter was very helpful and patient, even after we changed our order last- minute. Lunch was charming. From the moment that we walked in, many of the staff welcomed us. The room is broad and painted in calming latte colors denoting peacefulness. The windows look outside making the already large room feel limitless. There is a full bar spinning Milan esque spritzers and Negronis along with carefully prepared martinis at lunch. It's very European. Bread is served and it's delicious. Warm from the oven, it comes with a dollop of ricotta cheese and sturdy olive olive oil, a pat of butter sliced into triangles and a splash of the above mentioned olive oil alone. It was well baked and sliced into manageable coins. We drank a bottle of sparkling water and my guest had a perfect latte. My guest had a Caesar salad with chicken. The salad was gorgeous. Not too much dressing. The chicken flavorful and sliced for easy eating. The greens came perfectly washed and carefully arranged. I ordered a delicious dish chosen from the carbonara menu which intrigued me deeply. I chose a classic version of the rib warming dish. The creamy sauce, napped onto a tangle of the just to the tooth pasta. A tube pasta in this case. The bacon was crunchy and the higher than usual Parmesan cheese offered a funky counterpoint and made me smile. Our waitress worked with confidence and she knows the menu! Now we know we're in The Mall at Short Hills, NOT The Short Hills Mall. I had the special 2 course restaurant menu. Very lackluster. The food on the regular menu is so much better. I had it last year as well. It has not gotten any better. The butternut squash bruschetta was strange...the ricotta and bread was good, but the combination of all 3 was odd. I had the pasta with mushrooms as the main. Boring. I took it home and I'm going to add sausage and more seasoning. The best things were the tiramisu and wine flight-which aren't special menu items. I had read reviews saying Eataly in the Short Hills Mall was overpriced, but honestly, we didn't feel that way at all. It felt like your typical restaurant you'd expect in a mall setting--nice, bustling, and fairly priced for the area. The restaurant is accessible either through the outside parking lot by the Bloomingdale's entrance or from inside the mall. We didn't have a reservation on a Sunday afternoon and waited about an hour, which worked out perfectly as it gave us time to do some shopping. The staff was very accommodating. We had a stroller with us, and the hostess kindly suggested we leave it at the front since my granddaughter could use a high chair. We were seated at a table for four in a cozy little corner--perfect for dining with a baby. Our waitress, Asia, was wonderful. She was patient and helpful, especially as my daughter and I were sharing dishes. We started with the calamari and fritti (zucchini fries). Both were absolutely delicious! The zucchini looked just like French fries--long, thin, and crispy--but with a much lighter and tastier bite. The calamari was small, tender, and perfectly cooked. My husband ordered the Pollo alla Milanese, and the bite I had was fantastic--crispy on the outside, juicy inside. My daughter and I shared a Caesar salad. The dressing was lighter than usual, but very flavorful and refreshing. For our main course, we ordered a calzone, which unfortunately was the one miss of the meal. It took quite a while to arrive (we had to ask twice), and when it did, the ends were piping hot, but the center was cold. It reminded me more of a flat stuffed pizza than a traditional calzone. The flavors were good, but the execution was lacking. If it were cooked more evenly, it would have been excellent. One fun highlight was their Italian version of Coca-Cola--adorably small glass bottles that added a charming touch to the meal. Attached to the restaurant is Eataly's market, which was a treat in itself. You can pick up anything from gelato to fresh produce and specialty Italian products. We left with a few different pastas and jars of marinara sauce. We'd definitely recommend dining here if you're in the area--just maybe skip the calzone unless you can confirm it's been cooked thoroughly. Had a 7:30 reservation for a table of 4. Arrived at 7pm. Checked in. Was told no worries we would be seated soon. We walked around. Nice food store attached to the restaurant. 7:30 we asked about our reservation. Told not to worry they didn't forget us. 7:45 Husband started to get HANGRY. 8pm. The manager realized we still hadn't been seated. He opened up a closed off section of the restaurant for us. Brought us complementary bread & prosecco and explained they would get a waiter over asap. Thank goodness for the bread! It was excellent and bought us time to look at the menu. The waiter came and apologized for the wait repeatedly as he worked 2 different sides of the restaurant. He was so attentive. Every request we had he fulfilled without hesitation. Sunday evening walk in dinner. It took a while for the server to greet us at the table and she had a very flat affect. The tables around us had not been bussed and were not until we were almost done with our own meal. There was a cloth napkin that was on the floor at the next table and wasn't picked up even when the table was cleared. Has parking because it is located close to Bloomingdale's in the mall. Make reservations. We got there 15mins before reservation time and were seated close to reservation timing. I came here with two girlfriends this second time dining in. Place has nice vibes, can be a little difficult to hear conversations but still a vibe. The cocktails were great, this was the second time I tried the Sicilian Old Fashioned very smooth going down. We did do family style for our pizzas are highly recommend it. We sat close to the pizza ovens so we were able to have a little show of the process. Do not skip dessert if you dine in. The panna cotta and the tiramisu are a must when visiting. Eataly just opened a few months ago at Short Hills Mall. My wife and I met friends for a late Saturday afternoon dinner here. We've been to Eataly locations in NYC and Vegas, so we were anxious to check this place out. The first thing that hits you is that it's much smaller. On a Saturday, the market section was extremely crowded. We made dinner reservations on Open Table beforehand, so after checking in, we only had about a 15 minute wait for a table. Like at the other locations, we all thought the food was excellent. Starting off with cocktails, I enjoyed an Aperol Spritz. There were a few good Spritz choices, my wife had Limoncello. The focaccia at Eataly is so good, we ordered a couple of them. For entrees, I had the cavatelli with broccoli rabe, others had the chicken Milanese, and tagliatelle with bolognese. The food was delicious! We topped it off by splitting a couple of fantastic desserts. Service was good. The only issue was they wanted to serve the main course 2 minutes after they served the appetizers. We just asked them to wait, which was fine. We certainly weren't rushed to leave, which was nice. First off, on the dining room menu, you will notice that many dishes contain Agriform Grana Padano. It's basically the BEST Parmigiano Reggiano you'll ever have! We were seated right away without reservations. The ambiance was comfortable, cozy, and classy. The dress code is casual. Service was perfect. We didn't feel rushed, and the servers were attentive and friendly. Three of our group ordered the two-course menu for $26.00, which included an appetizer and either pasta or small bites. The rest of our group ordered from the regular menu. Everything was delicious and came out at a nice temperature. I'm picky about meatballs, but I loved Eataly's. You got three nice-sized meatballs with sauce and some soft chunks of Italian bread. Gnocchi, tortellini, pasta bolognese, pizza, and calzone were enjoyed by everyone. My husband felt the lasagna had too much meat and not enough cheese, but it was tasty. No complaints at all. Yes, it was a bit pricey, but we felt it was worth it. We did have one situation. Our server forgot to charge us for the two-course specials we ordered. We pointed it out, and she thanked us for noticing. The market has some unusual gifts and foods. I have always heard good things about Eataly, so we finally went. I liked the store (atttached) with a variety of ITALIAN ingredients. It killed time while we waited for our table. We [party of 4] were finally seated. The mu s ic was loud and the restaurant was noisy as well. We did have plenty of room with our table. Service was good. A little slow, but ok. Our food was good. I enjoyed my Pasta Carbonara. My wife had a thin crust pizza that was "well done"; she did not like. I thought the food, generally for the 4 of us was good. Overpriced but good. Had a wonderful time at Eataly at the short hills mall. Despite what the reviews say about being seated late and poor service, I had the opposite experience. We were seated right away and the service was excellent. Although they've only been open a few weeks, the server Mel knew everything about the menu and made some great recommendations. She was wonderful and our food came out super fast. My husband and I were with our toddler and newborn so it was awesome to not have to wait a ton for our food . For our drinks my husband did the old fashioned which was good and I did a glass of Pinot bianco and it was perfect. For starters we went with Mel's recommendation of the focaccia Bianca and the burrata , the bread was so soft and delicious (tasted freshly made), the burrata was delicious and the chopped eggplant underneath gave it a nice flavor. We also shared the diabla dolce pizza and this was a must have ! The spicy salame and spicy honey really made this excellent (I did think the pricing was a bit much). For entree I had tagliatelle al tartufo Nero and I added chicken (not featured) . The pasta and truffle was delicious (for the pricing I would have expected a bit more pasta ) , I would skip adding the chicken, it just doesn't go with the dish and it came in a skewer so it wasn't mixed in and tasted a little dry. My husband had the baccala and thought it was good but very fishy tasting. For dessert we did the tiramisu and that was perfection so so good , I wanted more ! As beautiful as Short Hills mall is, the food options have always been, in my opinion, a bit underwhelming. Here comes Eataly, or at least the mall version of Eataly. Maybe I'd consider this a boutique version of Eataly. You have a midsized market with cheeses, cured meats, packaged goods, and quite a bit of prepared foods. There is pizza counter for square slices with various toppings to go. There is a coffee cafe with pastries galore. A mini wine store has a great selection of imported vino. And instead of many small restaurants, there is one lovely, large restaurant in the back that serves familiar fare. Yes, they have to work out the kinks. The lines are long and they aren't quite in the flow. So be patient, have reasonable expectations and Eataly/Short Hills will win you over. read more

I was excited to hear that an Eataly was finally opening up in New Jersey, and it made sense that they decided to open up at Short Hills Mall! I showed up for the grand opening of the store and was not disappointed. This location has a nice organized gourmet supermarket experience (although pricey, as expected), and a very visually pleasing setup for pizza, coffee, and gelato. The staff were very friendly during my visit, and I love their reusable totes available for purchase at the front (that were also given away for free to the first 100 visitors during grand opening). I personally have not tried the restaurant in the back or the gelato and coffee stations, but I've tried the pizza and sandwiches and it was very yummy! There was a line during lunchtime to get the pizza, but the line went quick and service was also quick. I enjoyed the slices with spicy salami and five cheese. Having been to many Eataly's (NYC, Chicago, Dallas) and enjoying each of them, we decided to try the new location at Short Hills. We were shocked to find how small it is compared to others. We also found the restaurant decorated more casual, almost like this was an "Eataly express". Our lunch started with the Bruschetta with whipped Burrata, sweet potato and honey which was awesome. Really exceptional way to start the meal. My wife had the Spaghetti Pomodoro and I had the Bacalla. Both were excellent as was our waiter and the entire wait staff.
