Sat at the bar to dine. Johnny served us and was very polite. The food we ordered was very good and consistent. Tried the tuna tartare -- fresh and great with the wonton chips provided. Hamachi crudo -- fresh and also delicious (probably could be sliced thinner or chopped to better the experience of the texture). Second, we had the tagliatelle -- great portion to be shared and good flavor profiles; it was subtle but tasty. For mains, the black bass -- cooked well and another good portion size. I liked the creativity of the dish pairing, thought the okra went nicely. Also, the burger -- loved the french fries, and the tile fish which was subtle but also very good. Cocktails were sufficient. We didn't order anything spectacular. We also didn't order any steak; I was steered away from that. Overall a good food experience and I think worth dining.

Stopped by for happy hour and had a great time! I ordered a cocktail that was really well-made -- balanced, flavorful, and just what I was hoping for. The food items we tried were also very good, definitely above the usual bar fare. We stood at the bar for a while, and although the vibe was lively, it did get a little crowded after some time. Still, the atmosphere was fun and the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, a solid spot for happy hour.

you haven't been to @madisonwineandtap it should be next on your list. We stopped in here to check out the bar room and the wine menu and were super impressed with how busy it was, the menu, and the desserts.... The pastry chef is incredible, don't miss out; we ordered the bread pudding and it was great

-EDIT- They heard me because today I walked into my favorite establishment and I saw it on the menu. CALAMARI. And honestly, it was better than before. A rich tomato style (I've never experienced before). Breathtakingly fresh and amazing. Thank you Wine and Tap Room.

Outstanding hole in the wall wine bar with delicious appetizers and food options. Service is always helpful in selecting a wine and finding an entree to pair it with. A must try spot and one of my go-to places in Madison!

I really love this restaurant and bar. The service if very friendly, the food it top notch and the price points are fair. It's always crowded and understandably so. The desserts are in house by a pastry chef and there crème brûlée is top notch. Very deserving of five stars.

The Madison wine and tap room is a great addition to the downtown Madison. It is located behind the walgreens with ample of parking. When I went I made a reservation and they needed it since they were busy, the second time a reservation wasn't really needed. In the front there are a bunch of items to pick up for take out with some fresh pasta, cookies, sandwiches. In the back there is a restaurant and bar. The pizzas are amazing ! We really enjoyed it here. I went again for brunch and I will say the brunch was subpar. The service and the food was just average. Overall Id recommend this place especially for lunch and dinner!

New to town, and maybe just what we needed! Attached to the Madison Market, this sleek and sophisticated space allows you to get together with friends, family, coworkers and more for all kinds of drinks or food. The ambiance is great and there are some screens that offer sports viewing. There are over 25 wines for you to pick from, and you can pick how big your pour is, so ypu can try several! 1 oz, 3 oz or 6 oz. The wine bottles are loaded into machines so the pours seem to be aerated a little more than usual, pretty cool! I actually started witj a cocktail on my first visit- the Rose City was delightful! I am recommending it to all of my friends in the area. My only criticisms are that not all of the wines available on their menu are sold at the Madison Market, even though they have a lot for sale - and I went on a Tuesday and their "small plates" menu was much smaller than usual. I need to come back to try their food!!

You do get a free cigar (which is actually a pretty nice, brand name stick in most cases) with your meal, which I am sure goes with the cost. Before the world went utterly insane with inflation ... It used to be one of the best deals ever. The food was $12.95 plus the free cigar! Now, it's more like $23 per sandwich. Owch. The best value was the cheese plate, which at $15 was huge and included fruit. Now, that cheese platter is actually smaller than it used to be and costs $44! The decor is pretty cool ... dark and moody ... but there are a couple TVs with sports playing and high ceilings. The air purification makes it smell a lot less like cigar smoke than it used to ... but know that whatever clothes you wear here will likely need a dry cleaning after. The waitresses have been here forever ... and there are a lot of regulars. Imagine what a guy would look like that would want to smoke a cigar while eating and that's exactly what you will find here as a customer. Fake Sopramos accent ... beefy ... loud ... gold chain ... It's a 'bro crowd' for sure with some flashy investment banker types mixed in. Lots of Hummers and G-Wagons in the parking lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cigars. The food is edible and in some cases even good. But nothing amazing. I've had the corned beef sandwich ... don't expect NYC deli quality ... the flatbread (Trader Joe's is just as good) ... and the Cuban sandwich. All okay. The Cuban left me hungry. You can also eat at the bar and peruse their extensive whiskey and beer menu. The drinks are pricey, so a sandwich, a beer ... and I guess you could count the free cigar ... come to around $40, after tip.

First, overall I'd say the food was very good on all five visits. The first two nights, I had dinner here. On the first night, I sat at the bar and enjoyed a bowl of the French onion soup and the halibut. The soup wasn't huge for $12, but it tasted good, and the halibut was quite flavorful. I didn't realize at the time, but they add in an 18% gratuity, so tip extra at your own risk. On the second night, I ate at a table with two coworkers. I had the chicken paillard, which was a large portion and also very good. Service was strong at both the bar and table on consecutive nights. For the three breakfasts, I pretty much had the same thing every day...an omelette with a side of fruit. It also came with potatoes, but it would've been nice if it came with toast or something similar without needing to pay extra. Again, food was good. Service the first day was fine. The next two days, the older gentleman providing service couldn't have cared less. I (and others) would show up at 6:30, when they opened, but nobody would be there. We'd sit ourselves and then wait. Eventually he'd show up. It was difficult getting coffee too, as both days, my cup sat empty for a long time until I'd eventually flag him down. Everything was on his time. I would've given him little/no tip...if the 18% wasn't already added in. The rest of the restaurant...food and service...gets a 5. This guy gets a 1. I probably should've given this a 3, but it didn't seem fair to everything/everyone else.

The space on the first floor is divided into a lively bar area with plenty of TVs and a slightly quieter main dining room with comfortable booths and tables. There is also seating on an outdoor terrace on the second floor and a few tables in front of the restaurant on South Street if you're up for dining al fresco. It's a terrific option in Morristown that's sophisticated enough for a date on the outdoor terrace when the weather cooperates or a pre-theater meal in the dining room, yet casual enough for beers and appetizers while watching a game in the bar area. The menu captures the essence of modern American comfort food. Whether you're grabbing the Stirling Burger ($18) -- made from a tasty short rib and brisket blend -- or splurging on the Grilled New York Strip ($48) topped with crabmeat fries, the quality is evident. They are also great with dietary restrictions. Between the various poultry, fish, and vegetarian options on the menu and the kitchen's willingness to make moderate accommodations in any other dish, there's something for everyone. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service. We recently celebrated my niece's 21st birthday here, and our server made it memorable by honoring her milestone birthday by playfully asking for her ID EVERY SINGLE TIME she ordered a drink. It became a running joke for the night and made the occasion feel extra special. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars for me is that both sides of the main floor can get pretty loud when it's packed and the prices are a bit on the higher side for casual dining. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Stirling Tavern offers a Happy Hour Monday through Friday between 3pm and 6pm, which features specials on certain cocktails, wines, beers, and light snacks. You must be seated at the bar to take advantage of the promotional pricing. If you enjoy a good Old Fashioned, try the JB ($10), made with Four Roses bourbon, blood orange amaro, orange & angostura bitters. PRO TIP #2: Stirling Tavern does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of paid on-street parking on South Street or Maple Avenue. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday. If you can't find a spot on the street, paid parking is also available in the Morristown Parking Authority Lot #8 (@ 10 Franklin Street) and Vail Parking Area (@ 110 South Street). FREE on-street parking is located on MacCulloch Avenue, just two blocks from Stirling Tavern.

This business is what made him a multimillionaire, so I expected it to me magical. It was pretty ho hum. I lean towards the finer wines and liquors, so right off the bat it was disappointing. They didn't even have Tignanello in stock ... they said they could probably find a bottle online. The employees don't walk the floor ... there are lots of young-ish employees sitting at desks who have all the personality of robots. Seriously, after interacting with a few of them, I wondered if the store was closing because they seemed so put out to talk with me. The cashier was the same way. The upper level is where all the liquor is ... a very good selection. Not quite Total Wine ... They had very few rum brands and very few bottles of good gin. They did have a few bottom-level allocated items ... but no Forteleza, Pappy, Weller, etc. The markup was also incredibly high ... $150 for a bottle of Old Fitz 7 Year old bourbon. That's $70 at Total Wine. I left with a few cheap bottles at a very good price ... but they didn't have a lot of high end wines for purchase. Mostly $12 - $25 on the shelves. They had some 'special wines' they were pushing hard, showcasing a 96 point scored wine they claimed was $100 but marked down to $30. The 96 rating came from James Suckling (the biggest scammer in wine ratings) ... after a little googling, I saw that the average score was 92 and no other stores seemed to carry this. It was just okay. I was very disappointed they didn't have much Bordeaux and what they did have was a mish mash of average vintage years. Overall, I think I will skip coming back. It wasn't really anything special in terms of prices or selection. The little high end international grocery store and cheese shop was pretty cool though. There's a place called Gary's Wine about 20 minutes away, which I like a lot better.

This was solid. The octopus was tender and flavorful. The potatoes were tasty as well. My only issue was the amount of olives as there were only two present. There was a very strong lemon flavor too. I liked it, but at times, it felt like too much. The cauliflower steak had a lemon-soy emulsion, tomatoes, cucumbers, and capers. The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and there appeared to be a lot of butter used here. The tomatoes, cucumbers, and capers were a nice addition to complement the cauliflower. For an entrée, I had the tuna ($44). It came with haricot verts, avocado, coconut sticky rice, and a soy-ginger vinaigrette. This dish was very good except the tuna. The flavor was good, but it was not very tender and was a tad overcooked. The sticky rice was the highlight here along with the vinaigrette. I also tried the lamb dish that came with delicata squash, Brussel sprouts, potato gnocchi, and a romesco sauce. This was great. The lamb was cooked to a perfect medium rare while the gnocchi and squash were creative additions. For dessert, the warm chocolate tart ($15) was ordered. It came with pecan crust, praline, and vanilla ice cream. I never saw a pecan crust with a chocolate tart and I enjoyed it. The crab cake was a solid dish, simple and good quality but the scallops were incredible - it was perfectly cooked and had this wonderful tangy sauce pooled around it, some mushrooms and veggies in the center and a crispy, savory tuile. It had a lot going on! For my main dish I got a special, veal and short ribs. Although the veal was cooked slightly more medium than the requested medium rare, the veal was so tender that it hardly mattered. The short ribs sat on a small bed of mashed potatoes and carrots, and it had to be one of the most tender short ribs I've had. Usually short rib is juicy where some of the fat is but then there's dry spots here and there. This was juicy and tender all around. Whatever the chef did, they got it right! First off, we walked in and up to the bar and asked for a drink menu and the bartender who had zero personality, didn't say hello, how are you, wasn't smiling, and then says hold on let me see if I can serve you. Wait what? Isn't this a craft beer bar? He said there is a christening going on and I don't know if they want anyone else in here. I was like are you serious? A christening in a bar and with nothing on the door or anywhere saying the bar is closed for a party. Gotcha! I hope the owner knows you denied business to actual customers because some local cool guy wanted the whole place to himself to have his kids christening at a local bar so everyone could enjoy their quesadillas(from what I seen walking out). Upside: * Friendly servers (x2 for our night)…read more* Very nice atmosphere. Laid back, not as loud as the rest of M-town. * Games! We played Battleship and Connect Four. * Tasty food. Matches the Frog menu. * Nice beer selection - 20 on tap. * Only had summer beers since it's July. Only dark beer was Guinness, oh well. So I tried the mule since they have so many. The one mule I had was fantastic - I forget the name, but it's the Mexican one with the jalapeno. Actually spicier than our calamari! Wonderful drink. Downside: * A bit pricy. But that's Morristown in general. Whatcha gonna do. * 1-star deduction: Rude bartender. I thought beer #10 was smudged so I asked about it and she said it was gone. I then saw a different one in the online menu so I asked the friendly server if the tap was replaced. The rude bartender turned around and snapped "I told you it's tapped. It's done. Don't ask." Minus one star for the bartender, but fortunately the rest of the night went great here. If the establishment reads this - please deal with whoever was behind the bar yesterday around 5-6 PM. I would literally turn around and walk back out if I saw her, and I would absolutely stay if she wasn't there.
