Scallops - yum!
Kat C.

Have been to the Hartley a few times and always enjoy the food and service. We always start at the bar for a cocktail and then sit in the bar dining area as we find the space inviting and a bit sexy with good lighting. We always have a great time chatting with bartenders - especially John and John. Cocktails are great and food has been consistently good. Love their salads, appreciate how well-prepared the fish is, and that pasta bowl is something else! I like this place and would return any time.

Crab cake and butternut squash soup

My wife and I ate dinner in the dining room, next to bar area. It was very nice and quiet. Our waiter, Sal, was amazing. Super attentive and helpful. The food was excellent. We had butternut squash soup and crab cake for appetizer. Both were really good. We had pork chop and monk fish for main. Both were outstanding. We ended with a chocolate soufflé. It was fantastic. We already spoke with friends to go back with us.

Met a potential business associate for dinner on a Thursday night. My first visit, his local…read morehangout. Had to circle for parking and finally found a spot on the street. Stepped into a packed entryway and bar area. Gave my name and was told the wait was 30-40 minutes. My associate was running late so all good. I thought that the buzz in the room was a great sign for what was to come but I was wrong. The room was electric. The service was friendly and attentive but the food? Just meh. I wanted to like it but it was bland and underwhelming. I ordered the Crabcake Sandwich (as recommended) and my guest ordered the Club Sandwich. Both were mid. Even the fries (both the regular and the sweet potato fries) were nothing special. Super disappointed in a local "hot spot", and left wondering why?

A centrally located, benign tavern with inexpensive cocktails, indoor and sidewalk seating,…read moreAmerican-style food, and good, if not cravable or especially yummy dishes. On a Saturday at noon, our party of 3 was sat indoors immediately. I'd say the place was 80-90% full. They had wraps, soups, salads, and burgers on the menu. It's worth observing that there were no specials on offer. It's not that kind of place. I liked the crabby waffle fries, even if the seasoning was pretty heavy. My chicken Caesar wrap was crouton-forward. It was nice, but I wish it'd been more chicken and parm heavy. Our table split some onion rings that had absolutely dangerously tasty breading and almost no onions. The vibe inside was that of satisfied, talkative guests. All in all, I'd call Bottle Hill a place to grab a casual meal that won't disappoint.

Dismal Harmony Distillery is an absolute gem in Morristown. From the moment you walk in, the 1930s…read morespeakeasy vibe sets the perfect mood. While the aesthetic has a hipster edge to it, let's be clear: this is not a place where you get a cheap bucket of beer served by a pretentious, disinterested bartender. It is a haven for people who truly appreciate exceptional spirits. They distill incredibly high-quality, rare spirits right on-site, and the innovation and quality show in every glass. It is obvious that an immense amount of thought, care, and consideration goes into the flavor profiles of both their unique creations and their brilliant takes on classics. The drinks are pricey, but it's worth it for the premium experience. Their rum old fashioned is a personal favorite -- a truly innovative take on a timeless cocktail. For those who abstain from alcoholic beverages -- they do have a handful of tasty mocktails available. What elevates the experience even further is the exceptional service behind the rail. Instead of the indifferent attitude you get at some trendy spots, the team here is welcoming and highly engaged. They take the time to ask about your flavor preferences to recommend the perfect drink. The space can get quite loud and high-energy -- especially when multiple lively groups or bachelorette parties are overlapping -- so be prepared for the cacophony. Even so, for phenomenal cocktails and incredible service, this place is unmatched! If you want a masterfully crafted drink in an unforgettable, high-energy setting, this is the spot. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: New Jersey's draconian liquor laws prohibit microbreweries or distilleries from serving food, so bring your own snacks or order via your favorite delivery app. PRO TIP #2: Dismal Harmony does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of paid on-street parking on Morris Street. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday. If you can't find a spot on the street, paid parking is also available in the Morristown Parking Authority Lot #10 (12 Wilmot Street).

You do get a free cigar (which is actually a pretty nice, brand name stick in most cases) with your meal, which I am sure goes with the cost. Before the world went utterly insane with inflation ... It used to be one of the best deals ever. The food was $12.95 plus the free cigar! Now, it's more like $23 per sandwich. Owch. The best value was the cheese plate, which at $15 was huge and included fruit. Now, that cheese platter is actually smaller than it used to be and costs $44! The decor is pretty cool ... dark and moody ... but there are a couple TVs with sports playing and high ceilings. The air purification makes it smell a lot less like cigar smoke than it used to ... but know that whatever clothes you wear here will likely need a dry cleaning after. The waitresses have been here forever ... and there are a lot of regulars. Imagine what a guy would look like that would want to smoke a cigar while eating and that's exactly what you will find here as a customer. Fake Sopramos accent ... beefy ... loud ... gold chain ... It's a 'bro crowd' for sure with some flashy investment banker types mixed in. Lots of Hummers and G-Wagons in the parking lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves cigars. The food is edible and in some cases even good. But nothing amazing. I've had the corned beef sandwich ... don't expect NYC deli quality ... the flatbread (Trader Joe's is just as good) ... and the Cuban sandwich. All okay. The Cuban left me hungry. You can also eat at the bar and peruse their extensive whiskey and beer menu. The drinks are pricey, so a sandwich, a beer ... and I guess you could count the free cigar ... come to around $40, after tip.

Stirling Tavern is a casual but polished neighborhood bar and grill with a trendy aesthetic and a…read morecozy ambiance; a menu featuring classic pub favorites elevated a notch above your average bar fare with gourmet ingredients; an innovative and seasonally-updated adult beverage program; and attentive and friendly service. The space on the first floor is divided into a lively bar area with plenty of TVs and a slightly quieter main dining room with comfortable booths and tables. There is also seating on an outdoor terrace on the second floor and a few tables in front of the restaurant on South Street if you're up for dining al fresco. It's a terrific option in Morristown that's sophisticated enough for a date on the outdoor terrace when the weather cooperates or a pre-theater meal in the dining room, yet casual enough for beers and appetizers while watching a game in the bar area. The menu captures the essence of modern American comfort food. Whether you're grabbing the Stirling Burger ($18) -- made from a tasty short rib and brisket blend -- or splurging on the Grilled New York Strip ($48) topped with crabmeat fries, the quality is evident. They are also great with dietary restrictions. Between the various poultry, fish, and vegetarian options on the menu and the kitchen's willingness to make moderate accommodations in any other dish, there's something for everyone. What really makes this place stand out, though, is the service. We recently celebrated my niece's 21st birthday here, and our server made it memorable by honoring her milestone birthday by playfully asking for her ID EVERY SINGLE TIME she ordered a drink. It became a running joke for the night and made the occasion feel extra special. The only reason it's not a full 5 stars for me is that both sides of the main floor can get pretty loud when it's packed and the prices are a bit on the higher side for casual dining. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Stirling Tavern offers a Happy Hour Monday through Friday between 3pm and 6pm, which features specials on certain cocktails, wines, beers, and light snacks. You must be seated at the bar to take advantage of the promotional pricing. If you enjoy a good Old Fashioned, try the JB ($10), made with Four Roses bourbon, blood orange amaro, orange & angostura bitters. PRO TIP #2: Stirling Tavern does not have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of paid on-street parking on South Street or Maple Avenue. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday. If you can't find a spot on the street, paid parking is also available in the Morristown Parking Authority Lot #8 (@ 10 Franklin Street) and Vail Parking Area (@ 110 South Street). They have sharp floors that are grated. We stayed while it rained and made sure we were on the 3rd floor for coverage, but it doesn't matter. The rain comes through, we just wanted to sit and have coffee. There's a light you cannot turn off, and the heating/cooling system is on every balcony so even if you turn tryouts off you hear everyone else's. You might as well have no balcony. But it's still worth the visit. Such a great hotel but the balcony's are awful. And no privacy, can see the people above you and below you. It's honestly just for show. Other than that I'd stay again and not get a balcony room. I think it's to deter smoking but it's not even cozy, it's sharp, and not private. Great view but there was a wedding so saw everyone on the balconies and can hear and see everyone, they need to be designed to be functional not for show.

We wanted to sit in the lobby, but there was trash at the fireplace. The lobby was unclean ie the couch, table, fireplace area. There was no coffee or cream in our room. It took 40 minutes for them to come up. They brought cream and sugar and no coffee. We called the front desk twice to rectify this issue. There was a phone in the room that did not work and no phone cord, which is a huge safety issue. There was yelling and slamming doors at 6am outside of our room in the hallway. There was also no body soap in the shower, when we showered this morning. We will not be returning, as this was another disappointing stay.
