I was visiting from out of town, and my friend who lives in NJ had heard about this restaurant through a friend, so she made us a reservation. It's tucked away next to a pizza place, which I think has the same owner, as the 2 spots are connected inside. I was a bit disappointed with our waiter. He lacked enthusiasm, which was okay, but even when I asked for recommendations, he just said everything was good without offering anything specific. I ordered the Tagliatelle bolognese, parmigiano. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately was very salty - tasty but i felt thirsty for hours afterward. We shared a dessert, the tiramisu, which was delicious, and my drink was strong and well-made. The inside was smaller than I thought it would be, which made it quaint, but the table we sat at was strange. Two of us on chairs and 2 of us on the seated soft bench. But it was supposedly 3 on chairs and 1 on bench. A bit strange. I'm torn about giving this restaurant a 4-star rating; it's more of a 3.5 in my book.

We enjoyed Thanksgiving here. The staff was exceptionally friendly. The set menu had delicious choices with generous portions. Would definitely recommend!

We had such a great experience! Last night we dined here, they have just undergone some renovations, & I was very impressed. The ambiance is now warm and inviting! They created a cozy atmosphere ideal for both intimate dinners & lively gatherings. The service was exceptional; the staff was friendly, attentive, & genuinely passionate about the menu. They made great recommendations & ensured we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. As for the food, it was a delightful journey through Italian flavors. We ordered the pasta flight! The pasta was fresh & the flavorful sauces, each dish was beautifully presented and packed with authentic taste. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit. The renovations & new menu have truly elevated the experience, & I can't wait to return to explore more of their delicious dishes!

Food 5 Service 5 Ambiance 5 Decor 5 Went on the Sunday of Valentine's Day a few wknds ago, 6:30pm reservation. Place was pretty packed. We were initially sat at a tiny table close to the front door, next to an olive tree. It was an awkwardly placed table since it felt like the tree was almost on top of you. We asked our server if we could sit at the bar since there were empty seats and she said no problem. So glad we decided to sit at the bar because we got to chat with our server Cass, who was so lovely and attentive! After telling her it was our 1st time, she explained how they recently renovated, added more tables but haven't gotten additional servers yet so she apologized in advance for that. We ordered: Apps- Melanzane, calamari, Romana salad Entrees- tagliatelle, tortelloni I asked Cass if they made their pasta in-house and she said some are and some aren't. Luckily the ones we chose were made in house and boy were they scrumptious! The tagliatelle was perfectly al dente and the sauce was so savory and meaty. My only slight critique on the tortelloni was that it could have used another 30 seconds/ minute boiled. My husband liked it and thought the consistency was great. I'm quite particular about my pasta as I lived in Italy and can be nit picky lol All the apps were wonderful and quickly devoured. Calamari was the most tender I've ever had! Our server apologized that our pasta took longer than expected to come out so they comped our dessert which was greatly appreciated. The bomboloni is aMUST ORDER! Overall, service was great even though they were understaffed. We certainly didn't feel affected by it since Cass was so attentive. Will we return to osteria morini? Heck yes!

Most authentic Italian restaurant in NJ. We love pasta and their pastas are transportive. Just like being in Italy. You can tell that the team is a "family" with Jake being the patriarch. COULD NOT HAVE BEEN BETTER!

We finally made it here, what a wonderful experience. Very nice cozy dining-room, our server was very welcoming and explained menu and mentioned their house made pastas. The oysters were delicious, very fresh and the tomato mignonette was so good! Chicken Parmesan was a very nice portion, cooked to perfection. The Chittara seafood pasta was exquisite.

Attended Osteria Morini for an event and let me say that the food was 5 and so were the drinks. I started with the BenardsApolitan and I recommend to all. Just a great drink all around. Not too weak, but not too strong and just refreshing all around. I couldn't get enough. The pasta bolognese (Tagliatelle) is some of the best I ever had. The pasta was home made and the bolognese sauce complimented the dish to perfection. The cappelletti was delicious with truffled ricotta and topped with prosciutto and a butter sauce. As if that wasn't enough. They are linked to Nicolette's a pizza shop. The pizza was excellent. Thin crisp crust with fresh ingredients and overall mountains of flavor. The wings and garlic knots were just as great. I will definitely return for dinner and make sure to recommend it to all. Italian food made right with all fresh ingredients! Delizioso!!!!!

Two of the vegetarian pasta dishes we ordered resembled mac and cheese. Bar prices were notably high.

This wine bar is way too cute for its own good. My friend and I split the Truffle Fries and the Cheese and Bread Charcuterie Board -- I always finish my food and I could not finish this. Make sure you have 3 people to tackle it. Like another patron said, this place is intimate and loud at the same time. They only have one bottle menu somehow in 2025, so you might have to wait a little to see it. Just saying. I think they only had 2 people working somehow, but we didn't have to wait egregiously for anything. Overall, highly recommend!

I literally said to myself as I drove around Somerville that I wish there was a wine or cocktail bar for...mature people like myself to chill at. So I looked up wine bars and boom - VintEdge was right down the street. I came in around 9pm, picked a comfy seat by the window, and ordered. Can you believe I had never had an espresso martini until that evening?? So my first was a pumpkin espresso martini. Well I may have had 2. And another drink. Ahem. The service was great, not fussy, and I wasn't rushed even as we approached last call. Visit 2: having heard about my great experience there alone, my cousin arranged to meet me there last week. Or so she thought. Through a series of mutual miscommunications, I was here at the crib waiting for her, while she was at the wine bar waiting for me. Once we figured that out, she got us some food to go and we ate here at home. Verdict: -excellent seating options - stools, couches, chairs -food is so so good. Tartare, truffle fries. Fig jam pizza -drinks include awesome bottles and seasonal takes on old favorites This could be my new spot.

Visited on a quiet Sunday at 5:00 and because there many reservations available online, we stopped by without one. Parking lot was empty so we were hopeful for a nice dinner. Surprisingly I was quickly dismissed by the hostess once I said our party of three did not have a reservation because they were completely booked. Her option was to wait and sit in the dining room way in the back. This did not sound appealing. It took me some convincing and time for her to finally get approval to accommodate us at a perfect table overlooking the lake in the first dining room. We were the only people in the dining room and when we left, there were just two other filled tables at 7:00. Not sure what rules the hostess was following! Now to the food. Oysters excellent, wedge much better at sister restaurant La GrigLia, meatballs and penne swimming in sauce and sloppy, potato crusted snapper was plain fried fish with limited sauce and pasta with seafood was good. This review could have been just ok but service was good, martinis were perfect and view was great. Before even getting into the restaurant, you pay $20 for valet (or self-park for free). Once inside, the ambiance is pretentiously fancy. The food is generally good, nothing spectacular, and priced to match the pretentious ambiance. Most of the dishes contained a puréed food of some kind to be pretentiously fancy. Why so many purées? What's wrong with whole vegetables? Your customers are not babies. Dishes that I would probably order again if I return: * Bluefin tuna crudo with avocado purée * Coffee-rubbed Berkshire pork chop with sweet potato purée * Duck with Brussel sprouts, mushrooms, and cauliflower purée * Roasted carrots with sumac Dishes that were fine but not memorable (1 star off): * Brioche rolls with carrot butter: could not taste any carrot flavor in carrot butter; a good plain butter would have sufficed; it also came with a side of smoked salmon roe which I thought was pretentious and unnecessary * New England scallops with carrot and coriander purée, spring pea and mint pesto, and mushroom crumble: the mushroom crumble was good, but the scallops were over-salted * Pan-seared salmon, sunchoke, spring herb purée, salsify, corn, and pommes purée: TWO purées...yay... * Cavatelli with lamb ragu: ragu is basically a tomato purée * Roasted Brussels sprouts and butternut squash For dessert, our waiter recommended the butterscotch pretzel sundae, which has been on their menu for years. The blondie bites, salted caramel, hot fudge, and salted caramel ice cream did sound good. Too bad they forgot to bring it out for us (1 star off), so we never tried it.

Review: Café Faubourg - Montclair…read more Café Faubourg is one of Montclair's true gems--an authentic French bistro that feels as if it were lifted straight from a quiet Parisian street and placed right in the heart of town. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance sets the tone: warm lighting, intimate tables, and that unmistakable bistro charm that makes every meal feel like a small escape. The food is consistently excellent, starting with their hummus, which is surprisingly standout for a French spot. Smooth, flavorful, and beautifully plated, it's the perfect way to begin the meal and pairs wonderfully with their fresh bread. The steak frites is a must-order and easily one of the best in the area. The steak is tender and cooked exactly to preference, richly seasoned without being heavy, and served alongside crisp, golden fries that are everything you want in a classic bistro dish. It's simple, authentic, and prepared with the kind of care that elevates a traditional favorite into something memorable. Service at Café Faubourg is warm and attentive without being intrusive, contributing to the relaxed elegance of the experience. Whether you're dropping in for a casual dinner or celebrating a special occasion, the staff makes you feel welcome and unrushed. The inside has both a main dining hall and a greenhouse, which feels like basically sitting on a covered patio with well kept shrubbery and ambient lighting. It's a neat balance of modern and open while still feeling cozy. I think my favorite dish is the ramp fava bean toast -- the umami from the purée balanced with the crunch of the toast and the brightness from the pickled ramps. I'd also recommend the steak two ways -- both cuts cooked perfectly to medium rare -- and the lobster linguine was delicately fragrant, buttery, and slightly acidic all at once. The chips and eggplant dip (kind of like hummus consistency) was kind of a fun, shareable starter too. I will say that I wasn't impressed with the ceviche or branzino our waiter recommended it. The branzino particularly came out a bit dry, and more of the tomato-olive-caper side or dressing would've helped. And while our waiter answered our questions, service felt a little more on the less attentive side.
