On my second visit, I tried the blackened shrimp and corn cakes, and that dish alone inspired me to finally leave a review. Every ingredient was so vibrant and delightful, with flavors that complimented each other beautifully. The sweet corn cakes combined with the heat of the shrimp and the creamy avocado were perfect. The various textures made each bite even better. My friend also loved the american waygu burger. The place was pretty packed around 4:30 pm on a Saturday, but service was still pretty quick. Lovely neighborhood restaurant with an inventive menu and cool riffs on classics and specialty cocktails and mocktails. My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. The sweet potato fries and a refreshing mocktail to drink made for a perfect meal. Sweetie ate a pasta bolognese (I think) which looked and ate good, and drowned it with a nice glass of red wine. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. Was caught by surprise by this place. Went on a nice day so the outdoor dining was packed on a Saturday. We set up in the empty inside which worked for us with 2 toddlers in town. Beer menu was good. Great food! I'd been a bit scared off by hearing that this was a big, loud, crowded happy hour spot, but fear not! There's a partial wall between the bar area and the main dining room, so they feel sufficiently separated. Husband and I shared a Caesar salad as appetizer. No photo because I was too busy eating its creamy cheesy crunchiness. The miso salmon was excellent and a well-composed dish. The special Hawaiian ribeye is marinated in a blend of sauces and pineapple juice--quite delicious and the steak was well cooked. While in the Millburn area, I was debating between 3 restaurants for dinner. I have no regrets about choosing Millburn Standard. Nice location in historic Millburn. There is street parking or public lots. Both inexpensive at 50 cents an hour. The restaurant has 4 different areas for seating (outdoor, bar area, main dining room and a separate room). We went for the main dining room which is full of booths. Traditional booths, corner booths and 2-seater booths which would be good for date nights. Lighting and decor made for a great vibe. Intimate but not too dark. Bar selection was impressive as a whiskey drinker. Younger wait staff, but all very professional and courteous. As for food, I would describe the menu as "Modern American". Started off with the Burrata and nachos. Nachos were average, but the Burrata was very good and served on a softer toast than the normal Burrata. The blackened shrimp has a southwestern flair served with corn cakes. Delicious and creative. One of tonight's specials was a pan seared snapper over coconut jasmine rice. Sauce and rice were delicious. Fish was moderately seasoned. Loved the presentation on both of these dishes as well. Finally, my son does not get excited about many things, but he described the fish tacos as "Amazing"! They were served with a really tasty mango garnish and Brussels Sprouts. Even the desserts were intriguing, but we were stuffed. Between courses they provide hot towels and the outdoor seating also has heaters. Both nice touches. Love the atmosphere at this place and the service was excellent. However I hate to say it but the food was kind of blah. Black bean burger looked great but was just mush and had very little flavor. Potato skins were ok but greasy and so was the Clown Burger (their play on a Big Mac). French Onion Soup was way too salty. The shoestring fries were actually the best part of all of our meals. Lastly the prices in my option were kind of ridiculous for what you get. Fun spot and worth checking out but in my opinion the food looks better than it tastes. read more

Brussel Sprouts was burned. Something has changed. I spoke with a customer and she had the Brussels sprouts sent back twice. They're not juicy and plump. They're small, withered and dry. She's eaten here a number of times, and the Brussel sprouts aren't the same anymore. I ordered the chicken after 2 or 3 years and it was drowning in salt. No longer is the chicken tender and soft. Jack with the beard needs to go home if he's not happy with his job I had a very uncomfortable experience here. While ordering, one staff member named Jack repeatedly gave us hostile looks that felt targeted and unwelcoming toward Asians. Shortly after, he forcefully took my beer away without clearly explaining why and immediately called the manager over instead of addressing the situation respectfully. The interaction felt unnecessary and embarrassing, and it made us feel singled out rather than treated like regular customers. They don't take reservations, so get there early if dining during the weekend. *This review is for my take-out experience only.* We recently picked up dinner to-go from this place. We each had the honey lime salad, which was outstanding. It comes with sliced rotisserie chicken breast across the top that is perfectly cooked and delicious. It also has corn, tortilla strips, jicama and more in it. The lettuce and veggies were fresh. We also love the honey lime dressing that it comes with. It also came with peanut sauce but I didn't try that. A few areas for improvement are that the person who answered the phone had a tough time taking our very simple order. It seemed like she wasn't very familiar with the menu. Also, when I came in to pick up the order, there was a woman screaming at the people who were at the front desk. There were 3 employees there and instead of one of them helping me, all 3 of them were listening to the screaming lady. Instead of making me wait and have to listen to the screaming lady, it would've been nice if one of them helped me. Parking is also very difficult around there. Ordered Tempura Cauliflower for our app. It was a little oily but the natural taste of cauliflower made up for it. Buddy ordered Prime Rib & I had the Filet Mignon Med-Rare. Unfortunately, I didn't notice my Filet was on the rare side in the center before I had already dug into it. I would have asked for a few more minutes of cook time otherwise. Both entrees came with mashed potato & grilled asparagus, too much for either one of us to finish. Sauce for the Filet was very tasty. I didn't see any way to make a reservation on their website. Stopped in to meet a buddy for a beer and some bar food one night after work and sat at the bar for some easy conversation. The talent behind the bar were all quick efficient and very friendly. Food came out quickly and shout out to the fries- crisp and perfect. Nachos were good and the sliders hit the spot. Inside there is plenty of seats along the bar or plenty of tables there as well. There is a mirrored wall that makes the bar area appear even larger than it really is And there is another section separate from the bar area for a more Dining Room Experience. My boyfriend and I went in yesterday night for a drink and some food, we sat at the bar and ordered our first round of drinks. The bartender carded us, because we are in our 20s. He took my boyfriend's no problem but when I handed him mine (just moved from out of state), and then asked for a credit card to verify it was a real ID, then asked for my Apple ID to still verify!!?? Making me very uncomfortable. I have worked in restaurants for years and never seen this before, I know bars usually have a ID booklet and can scan IDs but for this man to go out of his way to question my ID multiple times was wild, we have been here multiple times before and never have experienced something like this. I understand it's their job to check IDs but if you are that untrained to do that you shouldn't be behind the bar. Very rude, and from that point on I felt so uncomfortable just sitting there.
