That said, there were a couple of disappointments. It was my birthday, and we were asked multiple times throughout the evening whether we were celebrating a special occasion. However, nothing was ever acknowledged at the end of the meal. We even had to remind our server about the limoncello shots that typically accompany dessert, which felt a bit awkward after being asked so many times about the occasion. My biggest concern is the seating issue with the windows. While the floor-to-ceiling glass is beautiful, the sun glare was extremely uncomfortable where we were seated. The sun was directly in our eyes for much of the meal, and we found ourselves switching and repositioning our chairs just to be comfortable. The restaurant should consider installing shades, scrims, or another solution to help manage the sunlight during certain hours. Overall, Felina Summit is a gorgeous restaurant with excellent food and good service, and I would certainly return. With better management of the sunlight and a little more follow-through on special occasion acknowledgments, the experience would be even better.

The shrimp was overcooked while the lobster was difficult to extract even though it was completely cut in half. The dessert which was a peach cobbler was both overly sweet and tart. The service was great. Food came out promptly. Our server might have been overly attentive and checked in on us at least 5 times during the meal to see if we enjoyed it. So a great place to visit and enjoy the ambience but not a great place for eating.

This past Friday night, I had one of the best dinners and overall dining experiences I've had in a very long time. Mentor has done an outstanding job creating something truly special here. The service, food, wine, atmosphere, and hospitality all come together seamlessly. The ambiance is cozy, intimate, and full of energy. The dining room always seems to be buzzing, and you immediately understand why. The cocktails are always a hit, but the wines... oh, the wines! There are some incredible bottles to discover, along with an excellent selection by the glass. If you appreciate wine, this is definitely a place where you can have some fun exploring. Every dish that hit our table was spectacular. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared, from the pasta to the entrées and all the little details in between. For starters, the polpettine ($20) and bruschetta special ($13) was ordered. The polpettine consisted of prosciutto and mortadella meatballs with pomodoro and ricotta. There were five large meatballs with a nice heaping of ricotta and some toasted buttered bread. These were solid. The sauce and cheese was needed as the actual meatball was a tad dry, but the flavor was there. I did not get a real taste of the mortadella. The bread helped get all of the sauce and cheese leftover. The bruschetta special contained stracciatella, butternut squash, caponatta and balsamic glaze. There were two small pieces of bread. I was hoping for a little more here, but the flavors made up for it. It tasted like a cool fall evening with everything that was incorporated here. It was on the sweeter side but not overly done. The stracciatella really brought all of the toppings together. For an entrée, I had the gnocchi ($29). It came with a lamb ragu, and grilled corn. The gnocchi were cooked to a perfect al dente and tasted very light. They were the best part of the dish. The grilled corn was a close second as it stayed crisp even with the amount of sauce present. The sauce was actually a little sweet to my surprise. In regard to the lamb ragu, it was alright. There were chunks of lamb and it was a little inconsistent as a number of pieces were fatty. I also tried the butternut squash ravioli with a brown butter sauce. These were cooked to a perfect al dente as well with tons of flavor. There was plenty of filling and the brown butter sauce complimented them nicely. I also liked the hazelnuts on top. For dessert, the bomboloni ($14) was ordered. There were seven citrus-scented ricotta doughnuts with espresso caramel and dark chocolate sauces. We did take these home and had them the next morning. They packaged them well. They reheated perfectly in the air fryer. They were tasty. The citrus was definitely noticed, but not too overpowerful. The donuts were light and very airy. I really liked the texture of these. I was a fan of the dark chocolate sauce. I am not a big espresso fan, so the caramel was not for me as it had too much of that flavor. Regardless, these were a nice treat. Will I go back? I would.

A third of the second one even made it home. I tried the Basque Shrimp to start. It's a dozen smaller shrimp that were among the best I'd ever tasted, tender and succulent. For someone who favors jumbo shrimp, these were eye opening. It's served in a fairly spicy tomato sauce. It packed a punch. You'll need to periodically wet your pallet, but if you enjoy a spicy dish, this is a must. It is accompanied by 4 slices of filone, which you'll need to soak up all the sauce. It is a spectacular bread and maybe why bread is not served to start. This dish may be the best deal on the menu. For my main I tried the Wagyu Fried Rice. This is another hot one. Again, if you enjoy your food on the spicy side, you owe this a try. We skipped the cocktails, but ordered two glasses of wine. All the spirits are pricey, maybe even more so than the food, but at least you get a solid pour with the wines. These were the Sauvignon Blanc and the Mountain Cuvée Cab. For the most part the service is very good. It's at least fitting. Also, they do not upcharge for credit card use. That's class. All in the tab still blew past $200, but we've spent twice that here on other occasions.
