Our group dropped by for a late night dinner after a movie. We were surprised they were open so late on a weekday. There were ample seating options inside and outside. We were seated at the patio in the back. It was a nice area. I ordered the veal sorrentino and enjoyed it. There was an overabundance of potatos, but the portion sizes and taste of everything else on the plate was good. My brother enjoyed his stuffed cabbage, but said that all the different pierogies were quite bland. The rest of the group had chicken alfredo and were satisfied by it. Abigail's is a place we used to frequent when we lived in NJ and a couple decades later, we still love to return here for delicious food. The location makes it a bit challenging for parking but the interior is cozy and the outside area is great in the nice weather. The food did not disappoint. I always get the garlic shrimp. It's so tender and incredibly good. I have also had some of the European dishes in the past and they are good too, but the shrimp brings me back. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! Started off with the Pierogis (half meat and the other half potatoes and cheese). These aren't frozen or made from frozen dough. Very fresh ingredients with fresh pierogi dough. For my entree I had the pork chop (with onions, peppers, and sausage) and the portion was huge. Very fresh and perfectly cooked for a delicious lunch. Pretty large restaurant with a lot of big tables. Met friends for dinner on a Saturday night - total of 9 adults and 2 children. The sangria (order by pitcher) was good but service was just ok. Most of the table never got water after asking multiple times so you can imagine how that ended... (hello hangover) yikes. Food was good. Pirogies and fried calamari were great to share! The veal schnitzel was very good. The Abigail Pear salad "citrus" dressing was no good, very oily with no flavor. The salad has a lot of potential and we really liked the avocado and grilled chicken but that was it! Bill was over $425 which is fine. They didn't split the bill at all and most of us had cash but 2 friends paid using CC. What wasn't fine was over an hour AFTER we LEFT one of our friends gets a call from the restaurant that the waiter made an error and undercharged us? She then was asked to read her CC # over the phone for an additional $40 charge?! WHAT? How absurd! They should have let it go and ate the $40 IMO. It was very awkward and honestly felt really unprofessional. The waiter made the error and somehow it became our problem? Sadly don't think we'll be back as a crew anymore since a few of us were really turned off....maybe the lesson here is would recommend folks pay in CASH? We were pleasantly surprised by this place. Sometimes it's hard to find a great place when you are from out of town. We ordered from Abigail's favorites list. I had the Vienna schnitzel and hubby had the kielbasa with stuffed cabbage and pierogies. Everything was delicious, even the pickled red cabbage. We sat outside in their covered court yard. It was a very quaint, lovely space to have dinner. But inside seating is just as nice with white table cloths and candles. Very nice and cozy for a night out. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. Parking is on the street, but learned later that the gas station across the street allows parking for the restaurant as well. If in the area again we will have dinner here again! read more

This was my first trip to Abigail's in about 2 years if not more, but let me tell you something, nothing has changed. The food is still phenomenal! I met two old coworkers for lunch, we were all equally satisfied with our food & drinks. The only complaint was our rice was cold, the waiter offered to heat it up, however we declined because we were getting ready to leave. My food was even better as leftovers. My favorite thing about this place is their Sangria, I had the Pomegranate Sangria & my friends had the Mango Sangria. If you are looking for good Sangria, this is the spot, they have a variety of flavors, not just Red or White. As for the price, this restaurant is moderately priced in my opinion and the portions are perfect. I urge you to give Abigail's a try, I don't think you will regret it. read more

I have passed this place hundreds of times but finally got a chance to try. When I arrived I parked on the street nearby. I walked in and sat at the bar. The tall female bartender didn't seem to friendly so I dealt with Marta instead. Me and my friend had the sangria special for $20 a pitcher. The sangria was tasty and Marta was great. Really nice and chill spot for drinks with friends or alone which I do sometimes. I'll come here for a salmon salad and a glass of wine. I like the bar because people are pretty friendly here. The service is pretty good usually. And the food is amazing. I don't think I've ever had a complaint about the food here. My favorites here are the chorizo, the pie rogues and the Branzino. Our server, Martha brought us some bread, water and took the beverage orders while providing the menu with the mixture of Hungarian , Polish and Portuguese cuisine. We ordered Tuna Steak Avocado Salad, Abigail's Chicken, Vienna Schnitzel (Pan seared veal cutlet seasoned), Schabowy (a tender pork cutlet seasoned and coated with breadcrumbs, Hungarian Pancake (Beef goulash served between potato pancakes and topped with sour cream and trio salad), Abigail's Plate (Mix pierogies, stuffed cabbage and sauerkraut with Polish kielbasa), Salmon Burger, BBQ chicken sandwich, and Sea Scallops and Shrimps Scampi over Linguini pasta. Some of us even had room for some desserts and shared the chocolate lava cake and carrot cake. Everything we ate was fantastic, tasty and well seasoned. This restaurant has been around for awhile now and caught on by just neighborhood buzz. The difference between Abigail's and other restaurants is that this is owner-operated. It really shows. Abigail's Cafe is a fantastic restaurant in Linden, New Jersey that has great food at good prices and their menu is varied enough that anyone should find something that will be a great meal for them. They have a cool little outdoor patio in the back with lights strung up. I are there during the day, but I assume it would have a great vibe at night. One drawback, parking. Not sure what people are digging about this place. It is slowly, but rapidly, going down hill. Both in the food, the price increases and the clientele. Granted, this is the only legitimate restaurant in LINDEN that is decent besides, Amici's which blows this place away. On one recent weeknight, I decided to stop in to this place for some chicken wings which I had known in the past to be "a safe bet." To my surprise, the were not what I had had in the past and was VERY disappointed. They went from their typical "Wing Zings" to a bare naked bland, dried up chicken wing! Now I KNOW this was done at the "expense" of the owner saving money. And I get it. In these times restauranteurs have to do everything they can to stay afloat. Raising prices is one thing, but skimping on quality is another. I should have been WARNED upon ordering that the wings have changed. I'm SURE many others over the past weeks have been disappointed as well. The quality of the food as well as the clientele in the place has taken a turn for the worse. It's no longer a place that you can take your mom or your family for a nice dinner. It has a raucous bar crowd that you have to walk through to get to the dining area which the noise level carries over to. Fortunately for "Giovanni" the owner, it is one of the only few places that Linden has to offer. This, by far, is no Cranford or Westfield dining establishment that you would look forward to a nice peaceful dinner at. This is the Nuno's pavilion crowd spilling over into this place. A few of us stopped here for dinner last Friday. We ordered calamari which was pretty good. The sauce wasn't bad either. I ordered the chicken Medira - it was ok. Nothing that I went crazy about. My bf ordered steak which was actually good. Overall - the food was pleasant. Waitresses were pretty nice. Downside - The place looked like it needed to be cleaned desperately. The table was sticky. The menus were even more sticky. There's no parking. Wasn't too fond of the bar being so close to the dining area. The bathroom was kind of gross too. Place def needs an update. read more

Went here yesterday on a date and I got Abigail's Chicken which had chicken breast& shrimp with piri piri sauce on top and a side of rice and chips and it was absolutely delicious! I was definitely stuffed by the end of dinner. I also ended up getting a glass of moscato which was so good as well! Our waiter was incredible and was always coming up to us to check up on how we were, if we needed more drinks and if we liked our food. He was very attentive and kind and just the whole energy and vibe of the place is very comforting, cozy, they played great music that wasnt too loud and the food was great. You screwed yourself to do that bc we enjoyed your service and would've tipped better than what you charged. Insulted is how we felt on the way out bc we're not new to Abigail's and always tip well. This was the first time ever gratuity was added. Shame on you for deciding who you thought we were. When asked about how big the party is that gets gratuity it was said to be 6 or more.
