Best sangria around so I'm rating off that but I'm removing a star because the food is not to my liking

Nice place to eat and drink cozy bar atmosphere. The paella was delicious as well as the stuffed flounder. The sangria was good also not too strong. I would definitely go back small place good people great food be careful you could drive right by it. read more

This is an absolute hidden gem. A combination of Polish and Portuguese food. What a brilliant concept. Being Polish I truly appreciate their delicious dishes very true to genuine Polish recipes just like I had in Poland. We also love that there are so many Polish speaking servers and beer selections. A cute hidden gem! Their food is wonderful. They always have many soups to chose from (caldo verde) is my personal fave. They are a mix of Portuguese and Polish so it's the best of both worlds. You can get pierogies and kielbasa but you can also get BBQ and Portuguese steak. Drinks are ok I think I will stick to wine next time. Great lunch menu as well! read more

I had dinner here with my friends awhile ago. We shared the pierogis and we all really enjoyed them. For my entree I had the short ribs special. I didn't really care for my meal. My family and I had been coming here for years. I had brought my mom out for dinner about 3 months ago. The food was delicious as always, so I honestly can't complain about that .... But I had tried to pay our bill with a gift certificate that was given to me 2 years ago. It had no expiration date on it , but my server told me the manager can't accept it. I was told that they had new owners and also it was too old. That is just poor business, I am a salon business owner who accepts gift cards and I don't have an expiration date on them, Even when a new stylist came from another salon.... I accepted the ones her clients got from the other salon. Our bill was around $65, so it's not like it was a lot of money , but the reality of losing customers (I see a lot of clients to tell them ) that this was just poor poor business. Won't be back Also, taking into account that the world was shut down for months, I feel they should have offered some discount, even if they didn't honor my gift certificate in it's entirety. read more

Stumbled upon this place and wasn't disappointed. The staff was really nice and they had a cute outdoor area that took us by surprise! At night they had little heaters to keep us warm. For drinks we got espresso martinis, that were just ok. We didn't really have high expectations since it seemed like they were more known for their sangria. For appetizer we shared the shrimp and scallops. Amazing! It was covered in mozzarella cheese in a buttery sauce and there was soo much flavor, we ended up dipping our bread in the sauce. Hidden gem, nice casual atmosphere inside and on the patio in nice weather. Highly recommend you make a reservation since they tend to be booked. The staff is very polite and courteous. There is something for everyone on this menu from drinks (sangria) and apps to dessert. Our shrimp in garlic, paella and desert were great. Have to mention that the sangria was very good. If I could give this place a zero, I would! My husband and I walked in with intentions of having a nice dinner after a long day. We went around 6pm, the place was fairly empty. When asked if we had reservations, we said no. So we were offered to sit at the bar. We agreed, but we've been to Abigail's before for one of my husband's birthdays, ALSO without reservation, and didn't have an issue. The difference was in how we were dressed. full disclaimer: we were not dressed inappropriately, we were just wearing sneakers and active wear ( tights, long shirt, jacket for me ; Nike tech suit For him). As mentioned, it had been a long day of errands and family events for us, so we had been out all day. As we sat at the bar, I notice another couple walk in, ALSO WITHOUT reservations, and they got seated at a table right away! when I asked what made them any different from us, no one could give me an answer. Our bartender said she would speak to a manager, came back with a BS excuse that "someone had just got up from that table and a table was available now for them", when that was not the case. I have never in my life felt so profiled and discriminated against. 5 minutes later, after I questioned the events, they magically had a table for us to sit and have dinner. we declined it. Since I had already ordered a pitcher of sangria at the bar, having yet ANOTHER couple come in without reservations and get seated right away at another empty table, we decided to pay for it and leave the establishment. Management didn't show face to us, and yet they were quick to take our money for the pitcher of sangria. Had we been obstreperous or caused a big scene, my husband and I would be labeled as troublemakers. My money is no different than the couples they chose to sit for dinner after we arrived, and for the record, We would not show up to a place where we wouldn't be able to pay for the bill. I can respect them wanting to have a certain dress code for their dining room area, but none of that is advertised or informed to customers prior to wanting to eat there. This place needs to do better. They are located in a VERY diverse community, full of life and culture. It is a shame that they choose to do this to whom, in their eyes, isn't fit for their restaurant. NOT TO MENTION THEY DONT HAVE PARKING AND YOU SPEND ABOUT 15 MINUTES TRYING TO FIND A SPOT AROUND THE BUSY STREET THEYRE LOCATED ON. read more

Came in for lunch after a Groupon for my sweethearts birthday, a flight lesson near by, will not judge this place on a new waitress. The food is good the staff is nice and friendly but our service was slow and negative Being that she was a new server I will disregard the experience as everyone else was making an effort to cover the new waitress, come to apologize, etc. it's a nice spot. My godsister was raving abt this place. Since we were in the area we stopped here on a Tuesday for early dinner. Indoor and outdoor seatings were available. They have such a good menu! We ordered appetizers to share! Clams in garlic sauce, pierogis (cheese and potato), scallops wrapped in bacon.. and an entree to share, steak and shrimp (ask for the chimichurri sauce on the side its so good!!!) I went here for a celebration dinner my friend made reservations. The tables were socially distanced & staff wore masks. The atmosphere was nice outside seating in patio with hanging lights, plants, and a heater when temperature got colder outside. The food was reasonably priced and big portions as seen in pictures. I would definitely go there again. We each got a different meal: Grilled Skirt Steak, Portuguese steak, and Skirt steak w/Alfredo. There was enough leftover over that we all took home leftovers. This was my third visit to Abigail's. The restaurant has old world charm, but this time the food did not hit the mark. My mom's Hungarian pancake meal looked like moistened dog food and I didn't care for the kielbasa on "Abigail's Plate." The service was very slow, but you can blame that on Covid. What a find in Elizabeth! When we first saw the outside to of the building in Stiles Ave- we were like,Hmmm, kinda looks like a truck driver haunt, and the building and the grey skies made the place look beat up. Happy there was Parking across the street at the gas station, along the fence. Our friends didn't see that sign so they parked on a side street up and around the bend. But once inside, the place was popping and happening and festive and alive. The staff were wonderful. The table and chairs were comfy. We ordered pirogies, soups, salads and a fish dish -and we were all pleased with the good choices. They did make a mistake on the assorted pirogies as we were given an extra meat instead of a mushroom filled dumpling. The soups were absolutely delicious! The borscht was hearty and the cream of broccoli was decadent and the collard green soup was light and tasty. The bread on the table was light and crusty and warm and good. The salad was filled with all kinds of walnuts and pears and avocado and well seasoned. The Branzini fish dish minus all of the accompaniments was pricey. I was disappointed in the size of the filet and the cost. It was grilled nicely and they allowed for substitutions which was appreciated. The good was fantastic!! We arrived at the tail end of their lunchtime rush so service could have been better as we waited a while for Splenda and Water. Four of us had a great dinner here last night. This was a first for all of us, but the reviews were so good we had to try it. The service was great, very solicitous. The parking and decor left a little to be desired. We were able to park on the street relatively close, but be warned there is no designated parking. The decor is dated and the restaurant is crowded & LOUD. But the food makes up for all this. I had a NY Strip steak that was seasoned & cooked to perfection. A friend had the Abigail's platter which was filled with their specialties: stuffed cabbage, pirogies, polish sausage & shrimp in a special spicy cream sauce. We had lunch today at Abigail's to celebrate my cousin's 80th birthday. We've been there before and returned because both the food and service are quite good. My family is Ukrainian and there are many delicious Ukrainian dishes on the menu. There are also other options. I tried the burger with fries and liked it. Everyone else had pierogies, cabbage rolls, and kielbasa. There is street parking as well as parking at the gas station across the street. Once again the food and service were very good. I was visiting from out of town, wanted some Polish food. I tried this restaurant, and got the have a girls platter which consisted of pierogies, stuffed cabbage, and kielbasa with sauerkraut. The food was delicious. The inside of the restaurant nice call my wife, there was almost a trance type of mood music playing that I did not feel matched the restaurants vibe. The service was great. Hey hey my fellow Adventurers! Came here last Sunday to enjoy a pitcher of sangria. I am so glad i did! The passionfruit is really good and strong, not overwhelmingly sweet. Our bartender was great, a cute red head who was a sweetheart. We also ordered the flaming sausage, yes she lights it on fire with vodka and serves it to you while simultaneously cooking it a little more. It's spicy so watch out! The calamari are the large kind and lightly fried, with marinara sauce that has a bite. I want to stop by here and try other dishes since those two were so good. For my entree I got the ever tasty and well balanced steak Gorgonzola Alfredo. The steak was cooked to medium as I asked, and the pasta noodles were al dente. Love the concept of a Portuguese/Polish restaurant. The food was very tasty too. For starters, we all enjoyed the various pirogies as well as the shrimp in a creamy garlic sauce that also had a spicy kick to it. While the shrimp sauce was great, the shrimp themselves were a little tough to chew. My wife said her paella was delicious but could have had some more seafood in it. I enjoyed my steak gorgonzola opting for a vegetable with it instead of the linguini Alfredo. Marty enjoyed his bronzino served with risotto while Ellen said her snapper was tasty but tough...sounded like the shrimp appy. The sangria was enjoyed but the group. The place is very noisy and service is really just OK. It did seem like out waiter had a lot of tables, possibly too many since we at times felt neglected. Prices are relatively inexpensive and I already recommended this place to a friend who went and enjoyed it. read more
