    Chips and salsa

La Chula restaurant has a lot going for it. It's a somewhat small space serving tasty Mexican food and it also has a bar. I didn't try any margaritas but maybe next time. However, I the chips and salsa were okay. The price for them was a little much in my opinion. The chicken burrito bowl came in a fun tortilla bowl. The star of the show was the chicken which I thought was excellently seasoned. The chicken, guacamole, veggies, beans, and rice all paired well which made the dish tasty. I also enjoyed my agua fresca. I would get take out the next time I want Mexican and I'm in Rahway.

Shopping for Black Friday and got a bit hungry. Decided to try this place La Chula. Loved the name since my sister used to call me that. Anywho I was led astray. From the greeting from Daniela to the drink and food plus the music playing in the background it did not disappoint. I'm looking forward to bringing friends and family. If you're in the neighborhood sincerely think you should try.

A great Tex-Mex place in the heart of downtown Rahway. Biggest con is the parking situation. We walked in as a group of 4 and were seated immediately. The drinks were strong and delicious ( we collectively got the green& blue sangrias, chihuahua ( made with aguardiente)). We got the birria tacos and they were delicious. The presentation with the dry ice was also very festive. The birria burger was also good and filling. The chicken nachos were also just as filling and great for sharing. For dessert, we ordered the churros and was also impressed by the presentation. They were also nice and warm and the vanilla ice cream and sauces were yummy.

Great place with great food. Stopped in to pregame Cinco de Mayo. We were seated immediately. It was a few minutes left for happy hour menu. We ordered kiwi and pineapple frozen margaritas. We were expecting a slushy. We got an amazing cocktail. So we ordered another one!its definitely a must try!! Chicken nachos and guacamole with nachos. Both were very good! We will come back for dinner. Great place o love the welcoming feel.

I absolutely loved La Chula. The restaurant is fun and vibrant with food/drinks to match! My friend suggested this spot for our double date and it lived up to everything she said it was. We ordered a bunch of different menu items: Food: - Queso Fundido - Guac - Salmon Tropical - Chicken Quesadilla - Steak Tacos Drinks: - Isla Mujeres - La Jefa Margarita - Tequila shots Food came out quick and it was delicious! If you order guac, you HAVE to get it with tropical style (w/ mango). It adds a sweet touch to it. For the queso fundido, we were able to order it without chorizo as they have a mushroom option as well or you can order it plain. I really enjoyed the salmon tropical, especially with the chunks of mango paired with white rice. Their drink presentation was on point even down to the shots. My drink was the La Jefa marg and added guava with my first drink and strawberry for the second. Very tasty! Service was fairly quick as we didn't find ourselves waiting too long for our waiter. All in all, La Chula is a great for date nights, girls nights and friend meet ups. The restaurant is lively and they play music which isn't super loud so you can still have conversations. Total bill for 4 was $281.64 cash and $292.29 for card (CC fee is 3.99% which was $10.64. Will definitely be back!

The birria tacos and the burgers are amazing. Perfect for either a date night or a night out with friends. Ambiance is slightly loud and colorful - but that's the point! You're getting a "party" vibe. Service is great.

I give this place a 3.5. I came here on a Tuesday for taco Tuesday's and karaoke night. I came around 7pm but I guess that was too early for karaoke because it didnt start until about 9pm. The place is extremely small, but they do have an outdoor patio. I came with my sister and we asked about the taco Tuesday specials. They told us basically all the taco selections are half off. The menu was on tablets as well. So we ordered the chicken tacos with flour tortillas, rice, beans, eleotes, and chips with salsa. I also got a virgin passion fruit mojito and my sister got the lemondae. Both drinks were extremely sour. I had to dilute it with water but it was still good. The food cane out about 10 min later and the presentation was night with the smoke from the dry ice. The chicken tacos where ok, the rice was ok, the beans were bland beyond belief, and we didnt care for the salsa choices. The elotes was really good as well but had a chipotle type mayo. All in all, I would definatly come back. The bill was $50 and the most expensive thing was the corn which was $10. I would definatly come later because i was looking forward to kareoke but came too early. P.S- parking will be a hassle but I found one right in front

One of my girlfriends and I got together for dinner and a drink. When I arrived I found parking on the street. I walked in and found my friend. The restaurant is super cute. We were served by Johnathan, and he was good. They had taco Tuesday with half off tacos and $8 frozen margaritas. I started with the frozen margarita, and I didn't care for it. I got the red sangria instead, and it was delicious! I also got the shrimp tacos, and they were good but needed more shrimp! My friend liked her tacos as well! This particular night, they had karaoke, and I sang my heart away lol. The bill was affordable and I had a fun night!

Came here on a Friday night excited for some good Mexican food and fun vibes. The porch setup with a live DJ was a nice touch, though the music transitions were a bit choppy. I ordered a passion fruit margarita--$12 for a super small drink in a plastic cup felt underwhelming. The birria tostadas sounded promising but ended up dry and not as flavorful as expected. I probably will not be back.

Visited for a girl's night out and was blown away by the amazing staff and food. We were a party of 7 and they were trying to sit us inside in a table for 6, but after we requested if we could sit outside we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and the amazing waiter. To start we ordered the guacamole with mango, the queso with chorizo, street corn, taquitos with chicken, nachos and Bombones de jalapenos. All were delicious and served in beautiful and unique way. Drinks were all also beautiful and delicious. For the entree I has the birria tocos with a side of cilantro-lime rice. I am usually disappointed with birria tacos, but theirs were delicious. For dessert I ordered the churros and they came with vanilla ice cream and fudge. Just perfect to end a perfect night. Please give them a try!

I stopped by La Chula for lunch with a friend. It was a Saturday afternoon and we were seated right away. The restaurant is small. It was very nicely decorated and the music that was playing was a vibe! We shared the quesabirria and al pastor tacos. The presentation was very nice and IG worthy. I loved the quesabirria, the flavors were great. The broth it came with was very good. The al pastor tacos were okay, they tasted bland. I would not order them again. I also enjoyed the red and green sauces they provided. The drinks were really good and well made. I had the passion fruit margarita and it was delicious! The service was good, our server was friendly and attentive. I would come here again but skip the tacos.

Came to La Chula on a Sunday afternoon with friends. We were seated immediately by the hostess. The entire restaurant was decorated for Christmas which felt festive. We started with the chihuahua cocktail which was aesthetically cute and actually tasted good. I got the birria tacos which were delicious. I love how crisp the taco shell was while the meat was very tender. I also got the blue sangria which was in a huge wine glass and they filled it almost to the brim. The bartender was definitely heavy handed with that drink. We also got the nachos with chicken (not pictured) which was like a mountain of food. Three of us were able to split it. For dessert, we had churros and ice cream which came in this super cute mini ice cream carriage. The staff was super nice. Our table got complimentary shots and we got our picture taken which was featured on their Instagram story. I had a great time. It's a good restaurant for a cute and intimate setting for a small group outing.

Came here with friends for a birthday. We parked in the parking deck for only $2! Had too wait a little for a table, this place is pretty small and really decorated cute. Started with a couple of flavored margaritas they were all good.We ordered the flautas and esquites as appetizers. The flautas were really good with a great presentation, the esquites with chorizo were ok. We shared the El Volcajete an La Mexican for dinner, good portions and very flavorful. Our waitress was not very attentive and we had to always look for her at one point it felt like half hour passed without seeing her. This place is way to small to get lost. On the other hand the busboy was great! Another downfall is they add the gratuity to the bill and we were a group of three. Was very disappointed because even though the food was good but service wasn't. I gave this place 4 stars only because the food was good and the busboy was outstanding! Not sure if I would come back.

It's great to have a late night option for food when you need it. Especially one in walking distance to home.

I called in for a big party, and they did an excellent job with the table-setting & location. Secondly, the food: Their apps are absolute winners. Our table got the Bavarian Soft Pretzel ($12) and the 12-piece wings ($22). Both came out hot and full-of-flavor! Both were excellent with a cold beer. For my main, I actually got a special which was not on their main menu. It was a Fajita Burger served with (you guessed it...) fajita fries. I added jalapenos for an extra kick. It was very good, but the buns are quite thick, so I actually just ate it with the bottom bun intact. The burger patty itself is quite thick which I enjoyed in this current smash-burger phase our world is currently in. Don't sleep on a pub burger. For dessert, it was one of our friends birthday, and as you can see --- they decorated it nicely! Not "they", sorry, Sara - our waitress - did! For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own. Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or "The Little House Taqueria," we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading "Tacos Open" and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor. Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand. We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn't help but notice the trompo--the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to "in the style of the shepherd." Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s. The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn't get enough. The portion was a healthy size. The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable--we can recommend this place.
