Tommy's Tavern is definitely one of the popular places; it's always crowded if you go in during Lunch or Dinner times, finding parking can be a problem too, so plan ahead. We had Brunch at "The One", the Rooftop at Tommy's and the overall setting was so beautiful. Since it was the height of summer, it was less crowded, so we were able to get seated at the sofa lounge which was more comfortable. Menu (food) is little different at the rooftop when compared to their regular Menu, but it still had a good selection. We ordered different Appetizers and Cocktails, everything tasted great. I did not think I would ever come back here. Not because of the experience or anything, just that it is in New Jersey which is many miles away from me across multiple states. So how did I wind up back here? Bit of a story but if you read my first review you'll see how I met a friend that I met online 13 years ago for the first time and this was the place we went for dinner after an event. Well, now a year later, her and I were traveling together north to Parsippany and this was the closest restaurant that looked appealing. It was not until we enter the parking lot I said out loud, this is where we had our first dinner. Anyways, enough of that love story. I really want to give this two stars for service but the food really pushed it over the top. So all in all I will keep it as a four star review. I want to address the food first, I had the short rib tacos, and my partner had eggplant caprice flatbread. I had a bite of hers which I absolutely enjoyed, eggplant had a nice crisp to it which really made it enjoyable. The short rib tacos... holy crap! Mind blown. I did not expect such great flavor in such a small bite. Everything about the tacos packed a punch. I would much rather have had six tacos and no chips and salsa. As for the service, this is where I got frustrated and my cash tip hopefully reconcile with my server. We dined on the rooftop which was completely empty minus a couple at the bar. We seated and ordered our beverages. I did not get my lime with my lemon water. After we ordered our meals, and received them, a server never came back to check in with us. I wasn't a big fan of her attitud either. It started to get busy I noticed that the host kept seating everyone around us when there was an entire floor to sit people at. Not sure if they're trying to keep people in one specific area but for how slow it was they certainly could've given everyone more privacy. We went to Tommy's Tavern Tap for a family dinner and got lucky only about a 20-minute wait. The staff was friendly and kept everything running smoothly. The standout for me was definitely the coal oven wings. They had the perfect char, super tender and juicy, and came with a great variety of sauces on the side. Easily one of the best things on the table. The St. Patrick's Day Guinness-battered fish and chips were also really good crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and not greasy at all. The brisket sandwich was solid and came with a generous side of fries. We also ordered the fried calamari, which was delicious light, crispy, and not greasy. Everyone at the table enjoyed it. Hubby and I stopped in after shopping at BJ's and completely satisfied as usual. Justine our waitress was ok but the food is the star of course. We tried two new items this time. The rating is solely for the way I was spoken to in regard to seating. I go to their rooftop, and ask if there's any tables for 5. Host at front looks around and gives an estimated time of about 30 minutes. No issue. However, in between the host looking around and asking me for my phone number to be put on the waitlist, another employee came over which I assume was some type of manager. After I give the host my number, this other employee mentions we could sit downstairs. I wouldn't want that if I'm trying to sit on the rooftop. Then after I decline saying we'll wait for the table up there she mentions that we may not be guaranteed a table. Now this is terrible customer service and confusing to a guest. Why the fuck would one employee take my number for a waitlist, give me an estimate, and the employee next to them tells me it's not guaranteed. Either get your shit together, be more honest, or improve your operation by improving your staff. That's annoying to be told two different things at someplace we're trying to enjoy some food at. I would hope she wasn't trying to discriminate because of how I looked by deterring us from sitting somewhere. We decided to not even sit up there. Made it uncomfortable. Whatever employees you had operating the host stand at 9:05pm on 08/15 on your rooftop were shit for providing such a polarizing experience. read more

Tommy's is a pretty happening place. Place is huge, service is swift and drinks and food is more than decent. Wings were great. Not fried, baked with onions and a long hot. Burger and fries were good and sushi was surprisingly good. I mean, the rice and the tuna looked like paste lol but it tasted great. Love the vibes and atmosphere here. read more

Tommy's is a favorite location for me. I enjoyed the food and drinks. I have come and sat on the rooftop during the day and been there for the nightlife. Both always a good experience. On this list recent experience, the food was overall pretty good however the experience wasn't as great as I've had in the past. Our server did accidentally spill my drink (Hugo Spritz) on my friend which was taken off the bill, unfortunately she sat there wet and somewhat uncomfortable for the remainder of our lunch. We did ask for a manager who seemed to feel that taking the drink off was enough. Eventually we did get 20% taken off but it was after we pushed back for something else. Will I go back? Absolutely. Mistakes happen but I think its important for management to offer more than a free drink for that type of inconvenience. I ordered the short rib tacos which were amazing. The wings are awesome. The voodoo shrimp tacos were good but a little too spicy for my friend. One of the other girls with me ordered the brisket sliders which she described as tasting like "hookah charcoal". We also had a pitcher of sangria, the limoncello spritz, a mojito and a bay breeze. No complaints on any of the drinks. Tommy's Tavern + Tap is a great spot. The food is good, the drinks are good, and the bartenders are awesome. One thing I really like is that you never feel forgotten here. They have a great team that checks on you and makes sure the food comes out quickly. Everyone is friendly, and I've been coming here since they opened. It's also a great place to watch sports games. The only downside is that drinks can be a little on the high side, and when there's a big game on, it can be hard to find a seat at the bar. All of their food is horribly horribly either over salted, heavily pepper, or both. My last visit it literally tasted like the entire salt shaker was accidentally dumped into my entire meal, aside from the sushi. Also, another very bizarre thing is that they have a steak entrée with no side vegetables. Who eats just protein and carbs without a vegetable? That's like an American staple to add a vegetable with a meat if it's an entrée. The chefs need to be seriously retrained on how to cook food without causing high blood pressure and diabetes in the process. The food inherently is not unhealthy honestly. Not everything on the menu is super fried or astronomically high in calories. But with all the disgusting sodium it literally makes it a heart attack on a plate. Stop this!! read more

Solid place to get drinks and food. Place is always busy and parking can tough at times but you will find one even if it's a a little walk . This is the only location with a rooftop but be aware it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays . Also food options on rooftop are different than downstairs . Love the blueberry lemon martini the best here . Sometimes too sweet depending on the bartender . The menu offers so many options, you will spend quite some time exploring the menu. I almost ordered a salad, but ended up ordering a personal pizza pie with the pepperoni on top. No regrets.... Earlier this week, I accidentally left my wallet at the restaurant and didn't realize it until the next day. When I returned and inquired, the new manager, Ricky, was incredibly professional and helpful. He verified my identity using a secondary ID (since my driver's license was in the wallet) and promptly returned it. Not only was everything intact--including a significant amount of cash--but he also refused to accept a tip, saying it was simply part of his responsibility to take care of customers. This note of thanks goes not only to Ricky but also to the entire staff for their honesty and integrity. Decided to finally try this place. I went in for lunch. Not too busy. I sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender almost immediately. I ordered a Leinenkugels Summer Shandy and a Hickory Bacon BBQ Burger. The burger has bacon, melted cheddar, red onion, bbq sauce served on a toasted brioche bun and comes with fries. Had to update to give Matt a glowing review. He was extremely pleasant, patient, and efficient. He is a great addition to the venue. About the other part of my experience.. came here with some out of town family on a very busy Friday night. We were told 20 minute wait, but unfortunately, that turned into 40+ minutes. When I went to inquire, we were immediately seated. Not enough to take away any stars... and the bar and lively atmosphere helps steal the time away. Great tasting cosmos from the bar. Portions are really big, which is a good and a bad thing lol. We all loved the firecrackers (with shrimp and calamari) and the chicken dumplings were really tasty. My chicken sandwich was good. After about an hour, we closed our tabs at the bar and went upstairs to the rooftop area to have a drink there. The rooftop is very cute and a nice place to enjoy drinks, especially when the weather is nice. I believe they also host events in that area as well. I've been to their Princeton restaurant so I am familiar with the franchise. I was seated immediately and ordered a HICKORY BACON BBQ BURGER with onion rings as a side. It was very good and made how I requested it which was medium well. The onion rings was very good as well and correctly cooked. The ambience is loud sports bar type so you may have a hard time hearing the other person you're with. My only issue is the people who were seated next to us ten minutes after we were seated had poorly behaved children which was a bit of a mood kill because the kids were screaming and running around.I felt they should have been seated in a another section that also had a family that was eating instead of one with a bunch of adults who didn't have kids with them read more

Tommy's Tavern is one of those perfect places you can go when you aren't quite sure what you want to eat. I would say they have a fairly large menu with different options. I didn't want anything too heavy this time around so I got the Mediterranean platter which is in the small plate section. My sister and I split one of their sushi rolls, which was fairly good. Our waitress was also fairly attentive and she was nice. We went on a Friday night around 7:00 PM. I would say Tommy's Tavern is a popular spot and definitely gets packed. There was plenty of people standing around the bar socializing and enjoying themselves. There was five of us in my dinner party and we were seated after a 30-45 minute wait. I would say Tommy's Tavern especially on their busy nights is good for group dinners. It doesn't give intimate just because it's loud and it's not loud with music but with voices because it's a hotspot and all you hear is conversations, so it can be hard to hear the people in your group at some points. That's why it may not be good for intimate dinners but it is a great spot for the younger crowd. read more

(It was still early) The food was quick - we both ordered our own pizzas & that was it. service was fine, Nothing to write home about. My party of two spent over $80 on an appetizer, two drinks and two entrees not including tip and tax. Our waiter was great! We ordered the sushi nachos and the order is very large. They are very delicious. The flavors that they can get in one plate of sushi nachos is amazing. My husband and I come here fairly often and the food is usually pretty good. This time I ordered a lychee martini and pulled pork mac and cheese. The martinis are always on point so no complaints there. The mac and cheese was just okay, as it tasted like the BBQ sauce was straight from a bottle. I know this isn't a gourmet restaurant so I don't expect everything to be made from scratch but it was giving me "ketchup in your mac and cheese" vibes. The pulled pork was generous though and I liked the corn bread. My husband always gets the wings and he is obsessed with them. Their tomato soup is another hit from the menu. Pretty much a mixed bag from wings to sushi, cheese burger to poke bowls I had the wings and the full rack of baby back ribs. The wings were smoked on top of a bed of grilled onions topped off with a grilled long hot pepper. Really good wings. The ribs was a little on the dry side but it was ok. I was enjoying the wings so the ribs were not a total let down. I would try this tavern again. read more
